Problem: Laptop won't boot, and there is no power light, even when the power cord is plugged in. Description: My CPU fan started to vibrate due to bearing wear. I unscrewed back cover, cleaned any dust from the cooling fins and fan housing using a needle. It still vibrated so I decided to lubricate the bearing until new fan arrives (ETA ~4 days). I unscrewed the heatsink screws, the fan screw and pulled the fan out by slightly bending the aluminum housing covering the fan and slightly lifting cooling pipes. The was at most 6mm of total lift at the and of the cooling "cover". But enough to pull the fan out. My monkey brain thought this was a good idea. Then I pulled the fan apart, slightly lubricated the shaft to the point where there was no vibration. And put everything back in. Connected the wires. Put the cover back on. Tried to power it back on... Nothing... "Oh the power cord" - I thought... Conected power cord and still nothing The light that indicates power is still off. What I tried: - The whole battery out, press power button for 60 sec thing. - Different outlets - Checking if I connected all the wires correctly [Wires that I disconnected during this shitshow: - Bluetooth adapter antennas - Fan power cable - Some flat ribbon cable with pintch connector. [Not quite sure for what it is.]] Aaand my questions are: A: How fu*ked I am? B: Is there any possible fix that I should try? C: Where it all could've gone wrong? D: How important is the foil under the motherboard and can this be the issue (it is intact but there is a small dent in it)? Edit: Flat ribbon cable that I disconnected seems to be a video cable routed directly to the display.

Hello I have been having problems with hard drives that keep failing on my computer prematurely. Last year I had a drive (seagate baracuda compute) start making a ticking noise every 15-30 seconds kind of like the sounds like the arm touching the spinning disk and deflecting off. Sure enough when I did a scan I found corrupt sectors, so I bought a new drive(western digital), RMA'ed the seagate and started using the Western digital. Within a few weeks I noticed the WD doing the same behavior and corrupt sectors. I have been juggling RMA's drives ever since and have killed 4 in the past year all having the same issue soo after install. Could this be a power supply problem or motherboard? The drives are held in an enclosure in the case on rubber pads. Also all my ssd (m.2 and sata) are fine and no issue, I have swapped the sata cable as well as switch power connector used on the hard drives. I don't know what to do other just buy ssd's since they seem to survive whatever is happening.

I wanted to update my system to Windows 11 so I watched a video that said I need to perform the MBR2GPT command in order to update. I entered the command and got an error. (I'm sorry I don't know exactly what it said) Now when I try to start my system I get a message saying "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key" I have 2 drives, a HDD and a NVME SSD with Windows 10 being installed one the NVME drive. This is my primary computer for what I do so any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, I would like to ask if there is a hope for my drive, Yesterday, I planned to backed my data off my 2TB HDD to a 10TB HDD that I bought for back up (The file system for my drive was exFAT, I didn't know back then that exFAT is prone to corruption) But when I plugged it in, the windows recognized it but I couldn't accessed the data in the drive, the disk became 100% on the task manager and I mistakenly formatted the HDD 2 times, (quick format) the first one to exfat and the second one to NTFS. Can a data recovery service actually recover this hard drive. Because I gave up on recovery softwares, the software just won't load up. Also, when I tried to open disk management, the software freezes when the drive is connected to my laptop. File below is the screenshot of the state of my HDD.

Hi Stupid me. Big time... I just pressed Fn+ins on my K400+ without really knowing what would happen. The PC was supposed to go to sleep according to : https://www.logitech.com/en-ch/manuals/11916 I guess it worked since the PC kind of shut down except the power button LED was blinking. I didn't know how to wake it up. The PC was unresponsive to the K400+ input. So at last I decided to hard reboot it by pressing the power button for more than 4 seconds. The power button stopped blinking (went OFF). Then I pressed it again in order to power up the PC -> nothing Then I switched OFF the PSU and then switched it back ON . Pressed the power button -> nothing I'm a bit concerned now. I can no longer turn ON my PC. What should I do now? Clear the CMOS? That seems radical. Thank you very much in advance for your advice. Best, -a-

I'm building my first computer and it won't post to my screen: MSI b450m Pro vdh max Ryzen 5600g Evga 500W 2x4Gb crucial 2666MHz When I press the power button the three fans spin up and the cpu ezdebug light immediately comes on, staying on until I power off the system with the switch, which causes all 4 debug lights to flash and then go off. I have tried reseting the cpu twice and checked for bent pins or obstructions, I have tried removing the ram and also putting just one in in both dimma1 and dimma2. I have also tried replugging the cpu power and the 24 pin as well as unplugging the reset button in case it was shorting. I tried clearing the cmos a couple of times by shorting jbat1 and unplugging my pcie WiFi card and sata ssd. None of this made any difference to the ez debug light or it posting and the weirdest thing is that the dram debug light didn't come on even when there were no ram sticks in the system, still just the cpu light. EDIT: The motherboard box says that it is ryzen 5000 ready and the 5600g is in the compatibility list in msi's website

Alright, I'm in a bit of a bind here, and don't know what's going on. My brother just had an issue with his SSD corrupting, so I tried to help him fix it, ultimately resorting to deleting all partitions and reformatting the drive in Linux Manjaro (through USB using an adapter Seagate created for its older portable HDDs... it's a wonderful piece of hardware). That succeeds, but with 4 or 5 end of file errors on a corrupted table. So we suspect the SSD, despite being readable and writable in Linux, is messed up. Then his HDD gets corrupted. Windows, again, not reading it and giving off the same corruption warning. So, here's my 2 hypotheses: Either the motherboard (only a year old) is messed up or Windows messed it up. The latter hypothesis also exists because a few days earlier, a few days after updating to the latest Windows 10, my 390X stopped producing a signal, the motherboard (Z87) even failing to detect it. It would, however, detect a less power hungry card... then there was an issue with the ethernet breaking, installing a working driver manually not being able to fix it. My brother's PC detected the 390X in BIOS, so the card worked, but... this week has been a tech nightmare. The PSU I was using is 7 years old, it had a 5 year warranty (Corsair HX 750), and was sending full power into the card (through all the 8 pin connectors) without the PC even being on, so that's being replaced (and so is the motherboard, and all associated necessary upgrades) as I type this. But, I digress. I have a hard time believing 2 different types of storage drive, bought at two different times, fail in pretty much the same way, at the same time. My brother's PC is only a year old, and has a Cougar 1200 watt PSU that's maybe 2 years old, and it doesn't have an issue with anything else. I'm fairly certain new storage drives will be bought regardless, but I really want to know if anyone can shine a light on what might have happened. Was this probably just a series of unfortunate and unlikely events? Using a web search only brings up irrelevant information, which is why I'm here asking this.

Hello! For the last year or so i've been using an external 1tb drive. Recently, I rebooted my PC and the drive was marked as a "RAW" partition, and when I ran chkdsk /f on the drive, it gave the following error: What can I do?

Soo to put it simply I opened Minecraft and this is what I saw (look at attachment). I loaded it up and all my other apps are fine like edge and things like paint and chrome but I realised that those apps don't use the mx230 in this laptop and instead use the intel GPU on my I5-1035G1. I only have problems like this when I load a different application then go back to the other one. I took the 1st picture and then after I took it the 2nd picture was what I got after I PrtScr. Is it a fault with the NVidia GPU or the something. I have seen the result only when the GPU is active and is computing a blank image. When I hover over something that pulls info to refresh the Icon if fixes the Icon but breaks after a short time

I started having problems with my PC just crashing (NO BSOD) just restarting. The MSI EZ Debug lights showed that there was a cpu issue. Resocketed the CPU and applied fresh thermal paste. I have never had any prior thermal issues, regardless I reapplied thermal paste (Corsair Thermal Paste). Same problem occured. When I'm watching yt videos or chilling on discord or playing "chill games" such as Golf With Your Friends, Minecraft there are no restarts. But when I play csgo or cod: cold war, my pc restarts with a black screen, sometimes I can play for hours with no restarts, and some days I can't play 2mins and my pc resarts. Any suggestions on what to do would be much appreciated! Specs: RYZEN 1300X @ 3.7GHz 1.325v (200MHz overclocked) 8GB RAM DDR4 2400MHz MSI B350m GAMING PRO MB GTX 1660 MSI GAMING X HUNTKEY 750W PSU PS. I ran AIDA64 stress test after reseating CPU and temps are between 55-65c under load, which is expected. I have latest GPU drivers installed as of today(10 Feb 2021). I have reinstalled csgo and cod multiple times. I have tried without an oc and same results (restarts no BSOD). I have swapped RAM slots multiple times. I have reset CMOS.

The parts list: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/AssassinsHero/saved/xhYdHx CPU: Intel i7 10700KF RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V 2x32GB 3600 CL16 MB: Gigabyte H470 Aorus Pro AX Graphics: MSI RX 5700XT 8GB MECH OC The problem: I have a brand new build that I cannot get to post. When we attempt to power it on, the Status LEDs show in the follwing order and durations: CPU - 1 blink for about 1 second; DRAM - 1 blink for about 3.5-4 seconds; CPU - 1 blink for about 1 second; then power off. We cannot get past this point. The steps I have taken: -Verified all connections to the motherboard are secure and in correct place. -Moved RAM between all slots, both in dual channel and with a single stick. -Used 2 different known-to-work RAM sets, one from my current build and another from a friends build that is on Gigabytes Qualified Vendors List (and attempted both in all slots as well) -Used Q-Flash Plush to update the BIOS to latest version -Adding or Removing the Graphics card from the build does not change the Status LED pattern -Removing CPU and/or RAM from the build results in entirely new Status LED patterns (not sure what to draw from that but I tried it anyways) -Called Gigabyte Support, but as of this post, still waiting in a call back que to speak with someone. I do not have another chip to try in the build so I cannot positively rule out CPU issues. I have also done my best to inspect the CPU socket and do not see any obvious signs of damage to the connection points. If there is anyone who knows what this particular pattern of Status LEDs mean, or someone who has additional troubleshooting steps to try, please let me know. Thank you in advance.

Hi, my HDD (D: Data) is not showing up anymore in the partition manager in windows ("Partition.png") but i can still access it from the explorer ("Explorer.png") and copy files from it at full speed. I first noticed that when I saw my second partition (B: Backup) on that drive fail with the dialog window with the option to format that partition showing up. I don't know why but i deleted that partition shortly after. The HDD was formated in a weird way: D:Data was in a sandwich between B:Backup. For some unknown reason I could only split B:Backup in two parts which were I think it's called a portable partition (the bar was a dark green color) - It's shown in "Partition old.png". I am very worried now that the D:Data partition is also going to fail - I have nowhere to back that data on there up because I dont have a big enough drive. [Note: B:Backup wasn't a place where i would backup the data from my PC, I had data from my old phone and laptop on there which weren't very important] [Note: The HDD is a 2TB WD Blue] If you need anything from the pictures translated to english or any additional information please just ask.

I’ve been trying to install The Sims 4 on my computer and I used to not have any problems with installing games, but recently I’ve ran into a ton of issues. The game shows an error message right before startup and after some digging I found out it should be a language pack problem, none of the solutions fixed it. I had the same problem with Cities Skylines, but reinstalling windows fixed the issue there. I got to the point where I’m literally transferring game files from one pc to another and it still runs into the exact same issues. On top of everything my hard disk has been getting slow and making strange sounds while writing or reading large files to the point where file explorer crashes (I’m running windows on an ssd). I’m wondering if these issues are signs of HDD failure. Can anyone confirm?

Hello, I've been trying to get a PC to work, but the USB keeps on failing. It doesn't matter wether it's a given port or a given device that I'm pluging in. The wife reciver, pendrives, printers, mouse, headset and other devices will not work regardless of which USB port I'm using. To be more accurate it doesn't always work, it fails after a while or straight after booting the PC. Its runing on a Asus 110M-A motherboard and its got a Win7 system. I've tried to reinstall the USB drivers, but that didn't help at all. When I look at the mouse after its failure its clear that it has no current runing through it. It's not just "froozen". If anyone could help I would really apriciate it! :) If you need more info just let me know.

Hello there, I have a MSI laptop: GL75 9SFK 1228CA. CPU: i7-9750H 2.60Ghz GPU: RTX 2070 Windows version: 20H2 OS build: 19042.572 Nvidia Driver: 457.09 I am having issues with BSOD while doing multiple tasks or games saying: DRIVER_STATE_POWER_FAILURE or VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE(nvlddmkm.sys). So I checked my device manager and it shows my: Nvidia USB 3.10 extensible host controller (USB xHCI) having an issues: This device cannot start. (Code 10). An invalid parameter was passed to a service or function. So I tried to clean install my Nvidia drivers by uninstalling them with DDU and then installing them with GeForce Experience. Still have the same error. BSOD and USB xHCI cannot start. Also clean installed my Widows through USB Media Creation Tool and installing all the drivers again but no gain. Even done BIOS update and Firmware update. What is wrong with my laptop Please help me! Thanks in advance!

I want to upgrade my old Toshiba C55-B5200 to an 120GB SSD since my old harddrive on it is dying and is unbearably slow. I have prepared a USB for Windows 8.1 and have Initialized the SSD too, I have changed the boot settings on the laptops BIOS to boot from the USB first but everytime I boot into the USB, I get an error "Reboot and select proper Boot device... etc etc". Does anyone know how to fix this? The laptop already came with Windows 8.1 and I made sure I used the correct 64bit of Windows 8.1. Am I doing something wrong? How can I fix this? Please help.

My SSD suddenly did not appear in windows after multiple short-lived failures in the past, so I didn't think much of it and repeated the same things I had done before to attempt to fix it (turned the system off entirely, unplugged and replugged in both the power and sata cable for the ssd, and then rebooted). After this, I decided to flash my BIOS with the latest update seeing as I haven't done so before, and after doing so my SSD appeared in the BIOS, so I figured it was working now, but after booting into windows, it wasn't listed in my file explorer, so I went into disk management to see if it was in there, and although it was there, it didn't have any real data that windows could see, and it would give me an error saying that the drive didn't exist whenever I would attempt to initialize it or anything. After rebooting many more times, and replacing the data cable, and trying different sata ports on my mobo, it only got worse, and eventually it just stopped showing up in my BIOS altogether. Weirdly enough, it still shows up as Disk 1 in disk management in windows, although with no information again, and lacking the ability to even initialize it now. I would expect some kind of failure if I were using the drive to constantly fill it with different information, but I barely ever added data to the drive unless it was game downloads, or the occasional recordings of me and some friends. The drive is also not even two years old yet, as I bought it January 4th 2019, but the first problems emerged around May 15th of this year, in fact, it's still covered under warranty, but I would like to at least recover some of the data off of it if possible, seeing as I had a lot of clips and things on there that I hadn't even begun to put into projects yet. TL;DR my SSD already was having issues before, but now I think it's dead as it doesn't even show up in the BIOS anymore, but I don't believe I did anything to fuck it up
