Hey Everyone, I built a pretty powerful computer to do editing and gaming however my computer still chugs when editing 4K and I really feel like it shouldn’t. The 4K footage is from a DJI phantom 4 advanced. Yes I know h.265 from drones isn’t too compressed but I don’t understand why this is still happening i have 32gb of dominator ram at 3000mhz 9900k and a 2080ti strix with 11gb of gpu ram.. what gives? Did I not set something up right? Do I really need to get an additional 32gb? For a total of 64gigs of ram? thank you for your help!

I own an Acer Switch 3 and since I occassionally edit gaming videos, I was wondering wether I could use it for traveling edits. I am aware it's nowhere near being a powerhouse, but as long as Vegas Pro 17 or Adobe premiere can run sufficiently (even with low quality preview) I'm ok with it. Question is, the CPU in this thing is a Pentium N4200 (4C/4T 1,1 to 2,5 GHz) without any cpu instruction set extentions. Are they required for video encoding, rendering and etc or not? P.S. Actually it has some extentions but apparently not everything there is. Idk, I'm not very instruction set savvy.

I'm looking to switch from an old gaming laptop to a more editing appropriate desktop, but my budget is rather tight, so I want to understand what I should and shouldn't sacrifice. My needs: I want my workflow to be a smooth as possible - to be able to go from one thing to another, and to preview my video without it getting stuck. That said - I really don't mind slow rendering, and I'm also willing to convert my files before or after the process, in other tools, if that makes it easier to work smoothly. My source files are 4K 30FPs, shot on my smartphone. The final video will be 1080p, though. My videos are generally under 30 minutes long. I use a bit of rather basic Fairlight effect - titles, transitions, VERY basic animations. But really - very few of them. I do some basic color correction (not really to create a look, just for uniformity - if lighting changes between shots - to match them as much as possible). I prefer using used parts to new ones (more pocket and environment friendly, but also - from my experience with non-editing computers, an older i7 often beats newer i5s, and they live longer). Ryzen CPUs are not as easy to find used here (but possible) My questions: 1. CPU - I know that both the number of cores and their individual speeds matter, but are there any other considerations I should look at when comparing CPUs? Let's say - if two CPUs have the same number of cores and the same speed, but are of different generations - are they equivalent? What about a case where a newer generation CPU has less per-core speed? should I opt for newer or for faster? What about Ryzen vs. Intel Core vs. Xeon? I know that I can find detailed comparisons between any two processors, but I'm looking for a rule of thumb that will allow me to reach quick verdicts (even if it's not completely accurate). 2. RAM - I know that generally it is said that for 4K editing, 32GB is the recommended minimum. Is that still the case if the output isn't 4K? How does using optimized media (even as low as 1/8 res) affect that? 3. RAM - are more cards better than fewer? (e.g. 2X16GB or 4X8GB?) and how do RAM speeds play into that? 4. GPU - I know that GeForce cards are recommended and that so is more vRAM, but how do I prioritize things here? Say - RX card with 8GB vs. GTX with 4GB? What's the deal with CUDA cores? For now let's assume I'm OK with storage. Any other consideration I should be aware of? Thanks!

I was watching a video. Yvonne pop into the frame for a split second. So I decided to create a quick fake background image of her. It's rare to see her in one of Linus regular videos that she is not the main subject of the video. If I was editing the video I would cut out my boss wife the woman that signs my pay check out of the video giving her respect.

Hi all, i kinda need help to find a budget PC for gaming+streaming, video editing, and some project programming for web design and mobile app. The games that i play and stream is Dota2, Apex Legend, Pubg, The witcher 3,Monster Hunter: World, and other RPG game for mid quality setting. For editing video after streaming and post it on social platform. I would also gonna do some programming for web design and app design. To be honest I am really kinda new to all this PC hardware because before this i've been to cyber cafe/internet cafe to do all my stuff, and now because of this "pandemic" i really do need to buy a PC. Thank You, Best Regards.

I don't know anything about photo or video editing. My wife though has it as serious enough hobby over the years that she received her first commission work. She's also been using this 5 year old, 17", 5lb+, integrated graphics card laptop. Mostly she's been using her Galaxy Note 8 and now S20 with some app to film and edit. She has a Sony A6000, but hasn't really used it as she doesn't have any editing software other than the phone. Looking for recommendations for a laptop for entry level photo and video editing, and can play the Sims4 level of games as a side goal. I've been told this is the editing software I need: https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/system-requirements.html and based on that I've found some $1000 range laptops. This is a cheaper software, non-subscription: https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/ And this really highlights the issue I'm having with these tech and blog sites acting like everyone wants to go full-bore on something right out the gate. I'm unsure what quality of a display is needed though, obviously the better resolution I can get the better, and I want to avoid backlight bleed. When it comes to colors and contrast, I'm lost. Not sure where I can cut corners on this either. She'd not doing this all day, and moving up from a phone. A lot of blogs I saw were in the $$$$ range or big 'ol desktop replacements. She likes my work issued 15" MacBook Pro's size. Cheaper the better. I'm fine with dropping $1200, but she's asked me to return high dollar items before So the lower price, the less likely that occurs!

It's ridiculous. Can we make our videos without touching a SINGLE Adobe Product? Apps we used: Kyno: https://lesspain.software/kyno/ Davinci Resolve / Fusion / Fairlight: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/ Affinity Photo: https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/photo/

I understand LMG exports videos to 'Cineform' with Adobe Media Encoder & Resolve to do De noise. Premiere Pro is the editing tool of choice with custom servers and codes. Apple Pro Res is now available on softwares running on Windows. In Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Resolve so I am really thinking of shifting to PC. Only reason I am still on a Mac OS is for ARRI codex VFS to backup Original Camera Files (OCF) from codex capture drives. I have also contacted Codex support. Looks like it will take some more time or may be, it will always be primarily Mac OS only for codex RAW for ARRI Camera's. I generally use Blackmagic Da Vinci Resolve Studio with Adobe Premiere Pro/Media Encoder. Even native camera tools like Red Cine X pro or ARRI RAW convertor or Sony Catalyst to transcode for offline edit. These are also available on windows. It looks like I will be able to work on most of the proprietary original camera files to transcode with windows apps like mac drive pro to read & write mac formatted drive. No doubt building a machine to playback 8k R3D and for transcoding makes sense on Windows PC. Here are some doubts. I have. Can NAS communicate with Windows & Mac Networks through shared storage Ethernet. Any third party solution to use Codex VFS for camera like ARRI RAW to safely backup footage from codex capture drives (cards) with apps like Hedge with md5 or xxHash64 checksum. Any suggestions.

I am trying to find a laptop where between $1000~$1200 USD where I can edit using mainly adobe photoshop and premiere and a bit of light gaming (not the triple A games). I prefer if the laptop has a good RGB and is lightweight.

Hi all! I’m looking into building a computer for editing video. Right now, I’ll be editing 1080p, but will edit 4K video in the future. I have built 3 computers so far, so I have some idea what to do/look for. I only need to buy the components of the computer, as I have the OS, monitor, etc. I’m looking for suggestions on what this build should be. Ideally, I’m looking at between $1000 - $2000 (Canadian currency, by the way). If I can do a build for no more than $1500 (which is about $1100 USD), that would be swell. Obviously, I live in Canada. Some component ideas so far: I’m interested in an Intel i7, but would be open to suggestions. 16 GB of DDR4 ram, for now. An SSD, either 250 or 500 GB, and maybe a 2 TB HDD I’m not entirely sure if I need a GPU or not. Do I? I’m open to anything, so let’s hear some suggestions! Thanks, all!

I can find old workstations on ebay that have, like, 2 hex-core xeons in them. I want to edit videos, but I also want to play some games and do casual work... The xeons are good with multi-core, but their single core performances are horrendous. Should I go for the old workstations, or should I build myself a consumer-grade PC? (I can get a 4core/8thread xeon as well)

Would a jail broken windows rt Laptop be capable of running OBS whilst editing light 1080p videos ??

I want 4k monitor i can travel with. I want great IPS panel with as much color accuracy as possible. i would prefer not to spend over 1000usd. I would want to be able to put it in luggage safely. So if it comes with special protective cover i would be happy. Seize... I work on 24 inch screen, if i can get one in that seize I would be happy. I also consider just a compact panel. I use some cheapo ACER monitor which is actually around 1cm thick. So it survives travel being wrapped in soft clothes fine. I want 4k ips badly popovartem01.com for my work, to know what i do.

Hello, this summer i'm building a pc, for around 1k or so euro. ofc piece prices will be different by summer, but i'd still like to see what would be the result now. besides the pc price, i'll look for a monitor or tv for around 600 euro, view distance is 4m i'm guessing the screen has to be 4K because of the distance, but i'm not sure, the question is, can i build a pc for 1000 euro and still get 60ish FPS on 4K? also, what monitors/ tv would You guys suggest? Currently i have my mind on LG 43UH668V 43'', since i work in A/V Store and this is a well selling model. Mostly i play WoW, but i really enjoy DayZ and Arma3 aswell. Besides gaming i do graphic design and animations. -Chris.

Hey! I am in the market for a new laptop. This is what I want: 13-14" screen (15" in a small form factor would be ok as well) at least 8GB of RAM 6 hours + battery 256GB SSD decent design lightweight I will mainly use the machine for Video Editing (1080p) and Office/Webbrowsing/Netflix. (The ideal machine would be a XPS 15 but it is too espensive...)

Hello to the wonderful LTT community! Greetings from a Canadian fan. I am embarking on the ever fantastic quest that is building a new PC. I am moving up in the world and am completely selling my old rig (Summary is: EVGA 1060 SSC, Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz (permanently running at 3.6 due to some tweaking), run of the mill 2tb HDD, 120Gb SSD, Corsair RM650W Gold PSU, 4x4 16GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz, GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-SLI LGA 1150 motherboard, and NZXT Phantom 240 case). "Why are you telling me these things?" you may ask! Well, ponder no longer! I am looking to the best techies on the web for some build suggestions here! Whether you're an avid custom builder and have experience to share, or you're a veteran of the industry, I want to hear it all! Any advice is appreciated! Don't be afraid to delve into specifics and technicalities, I'm a computer engineer so I won't be confused easily. The Purpose: Build an entirely new PC from scratch, for both an upgrade and a learning experience. The Usage: A gaming/Editing rig that can stand up to VR, and 2k Gaming, while being slightly proficient at 4k Gaming(50-60fps range or under, limit being 30fps). The Peripherals: Currently, I have a 24" 1080p monitor, and a 28" 4k monitor. Both are sub par, and the 4k monitor can only do 30fps, but is a great asset for my engineering work due to efficiency, and the 1080p monitor is a 5ms response time monitor. Nothing to brag about. I have an excellent mechanical keyboard, mouse, headphones, and microphone, so nothing needs to be bought in that department. At this point in time, I don't really need a new display, but a 2k g-sync capable display would be superb. If the build allows for it, maybe even 4k? The Specifics: CPU: I would like something possibly overclockable and in the i7 range of things. This is one category that I am definitely lost in. A K series for overclocking would be lovely, especially if I implement a water cooling solution, but definitely something that sits around the high 3's is a must. GPU: So this one is a bit tricky. As we speak, I actually have both an EVGA 1050 Ti SC and an EVGA 1060 SSC. I could end up selling the old pc with one or the other, based on advice on whether the 1060 SSC is a good enough card for a build of this kind. If not, I'll just sell it off. I would like to dish out a 1080 or 1070 if possible but everything is debatable. SLI is really not something I am looking for but if the card is capable of it, that is a plus I guess. PSU: This one really has no bearing to me. Given how the demand of the system will vary, but will be pretty high most of the time, a 750W or higher power supply with a Gold or platinum rating would be the most optimal. Case: I'm looking for either a mid or a full sized case. I'm a bit of a stickler for aesthetics so a good looking case is a must. My current case has 6 3.5" drive bays so I would like to keep that amount at least. Something with the space for water cooling is probably a good idea, given that that is the path I am thinking about for now. If it has LED's that's great, but I would like to get something that I can customize if needed. Something with at least two, not completely terrible fans would be nice aswell. RAM: Essentially, it has to be DDR4, and compatible with the rest of the board. I'm not really picky on specifics. At least 16Gb, and in any configuration needed for best cost(4x4 or 8x2) Motherboard: So I would like to have a half decent motherboard here, for the sake of future proofing, maybe an Asus Z170 ATX board or something of the sort. Doesn't have to support SLI although most boards of this tier do. Something with an isolated sound module would be nice however. Cooling: So this is where it gets debatable. I would like to do CPU liquid cooling, maybe something like the Corsair H100i v2 cooler, but I have never installed or maintained water cooling before. On the topic of case cooling, I am really not a stickler for noise, so usually case fans don't bug me, but if needed, I could do with some nicer fans if things will run a little too hot. Memory: An SSD and HDD mix is essential for this build, and right now, a 120GB SSD isn't the biggest. A 240GB SSD and a 2-4 TB HDD hard drive will most likely be the best combination. I might actually be snagging a 4TB Black 7200RPM drive with it's 5 year warranty for $125 on my local kijiji classifieds anyway, so that might end up as my main storage solution. Visuals: Overall, I would like to do some LED work if needed. I want the case to either glow, or be visually appeasing from the start. Thanks in advance guys! This is a pretty long term build, and I expect to be working from my laptop for a while during the build, and the buying won't start till I sell my previous rig, but I am definitely looking for solid advice and I've heard y'all are the best in the biz. Cheers, Dan

Can you guys please help me out. I want to start a YouTube channel for gaming, so I'm looking to set up a rig that will allow me to run all games on high settings as well as use microphones and some nice video editing software, and not take forever to do. I have some basic knowledge from looking and learning at YouTube videos. I am using pic part picker to do the build and from what I thought I would need, so far the price is right at about $2000. Does these seem about right for what I wanna do?

Hey guys I'm new to this site so thanks in advance for the advice. I am going to start building my first PC and it needs to be a multi purpose PC. I like to video edit, usually Gopro Footage at 1080p and also I want this pc to be able to game efficiently as well with demanding games like GTA or Battlefield. I want to be able to do both efficiently. I have a budget of about 700-800 USD to spend on the PC alone. Im not sure as to what monitor, keyboard, or mouse to get yet so that would be helpful as well. Right now I'm on a iMac, but its shared so i rather have my own set up. I don't know if what I'm asking for is doable in my price range but any information would help! Thank you again! - jay

Kick-butt rig ready for video editing! Had a great time build it with David. Let me know what you think and if you have any questions. Been using it for about 6 months and absolutely love it. I have since added a 3TB 7200 rpm Hard drive for asset storage.
