Hi, I do photography when I travel abroad and i've been struggling with some hardware choices to make to backup/edit my photos on the go. I know my way around PC hardware pretty well, but never had the need for a laptop. Now I'm starting to think it's the better choice. I passively watched some LTT videos in the past about laptops so I kinda know that to be aware of. I need something slim, screen FHD is fine (avoid extra costs) around 15" to be compact. A good and large trackpad and a keyboard that holds up. No need for an i7 or tons of ram, I only plan to use it to browse, transfer files and do some Lightroom and Photoshop, but I don't want it to get obsolete too quickly. Also at least 1 USB type a port, 2 would be better. I know my description points me towards apple but I want to keep it PC. (So yeah maybe whats a good macbook PC equivalent ?) I'ts a pretty open question, but if you could give me some brands/models pointers so I have a starting point, I would be grateful. Thank you !

Hi! I'm in the video industry and I'm planning to build my own pc! Right now I have an old iMac with 4gb of ram and an i5 processor so I just need a bit more power. I have a 1500$ budget for the computer (not including the monitors). What do you recommend me?

First, it would be great to know what "optimal" means.

Budget (including currency): |Currency| US Dollar | | Budget | 1,000-2,500 | -------------------- Country: United States -------------------- Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Video editing, basic for hunting videos - possibly minor gaming that wouldn't be on the Xbox -------------------- Other details: | Short About | I am a 20+ daughter of a father who has supported my dream as an artist all my life. He has put my dreams and the family house hold first, with many of his dreams going to the waste side. I wish to help him with his dream with the little of money I'm saving with my building career as an independent artist. I try to understand computers through videos, but without hands on and a person to answer questions directly, I'm clueless. | Parts List | I don't have one... | Upgrading From | We have a pc that is more than 10 years old at this point. I can't do any gaming with my friends much anymore, so it can't do any editing or even handle simple windows without freezing. Even if they got me the pc I need for an upgrade, this pc wouldn't benefit my dad and I want to give back to him. | When | I don't know, probably not for a long while. I would like to know a goal and a list of potential builds and their prices, so that I can keep a watching eye on what I can or can't get. | Resolution | Something to give decently smooth gaming, but I don't believe he'll mind with a few less pixels in pretty detail of quality. Thank you.

Can anyone point me to a software that enables me to create a virtual pc inside my machine? My friend wants to edit some footage on my machine (virtually thorugh parsec) since her laptop is shitty and cant to that. Since i dont want to give her the acceess to my full pc while im not here nor do i want to sacrifice my own time on pc i wanted to instal a viral machine and let her in so she can edit. I installed Oracle VM VirtualBox but i cant install nvdia drivers and the video memory is like 128 mb, is there a way to change that or are there any alternatives to virtualbox? For the record my system is i5 12600k, rtx 3060, and 32 gb of ram

Budget (including currency): I got the dough, but ideally 2500 and under. Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Apex Legends, No Man Sky, Shadow of War, The Witcher 3, Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere. Want to be able to hit at 120 FPS on 4K in games (I have a Sony X900H I'll be gaming on) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): So here's where the fun begins. I want to create a SFF PC very similar to this build Linus about a year back, but with some key differences. The major differences are: - Same case, the Sliger 580 w/ bifurcated PCIe slots, but with a window panel on the CPU side (I have the NZXT Z53 I'm bringing from my last build), and instead of two 140 MM fans at the bottom, I want to place two 2.5" SSD drives in the spot where one fan could go. These are the drives I'd like to be in RAID - Speaking of RAID, instead of a capture card, I'd like to do a RAID controller connecting to the two SATA SSDs (As a photographer, I'm bringing over a LOT of data and files) - 5800 CPU instead of the 3900 - A non FE 3080 where all the fans face the same direction and pull air in through the slotted panel. My questions are as I begin this process: - In 2022, is a dedicated RAID card necessary, or could I get by with just a software based controller? Keep in mind, I'll also have two NVMe SSDs where the games, apps, and non work related files will be kept. - Will loosing a 140MM fan significantly reduce airflow and performance? Even if I'm using a GPU that's technically better then the FE at cooling a sandwich style layout?

Currently feeling that sluggish pc feel on my first prebuilt. I have a Ryzen 2600, 16gb 3200 ddr4, 240gb ssd with no ram, rx 570, a b450m, 500w psu. case is forsure going to be upgraded but what should I change. I can probably get myself a used 3700x not sure if its compatible and a rtx 3060 with a samsung 1tb ssd and call it a day. Mainly edit iphone videos on my pc. I shoot on an iphone 14 pro max in 4k and it lags so hard. i dont care for gaming too much just know that the nvidia cards are more useful. I have a scythe fuma 2 i think for cooler

Over the weekend I shot some video and edited it down, I didn't realize that I was shooting in 4k and when I imported it into my timeline in premiere my system was not enjoying it. When I was editing my 4k footage, it simply would not playback smoothly until I dropped the resolutiong to 1/8 or 1/16. I currently have 32gb of DDR4, and right now whenever I go over to another program then back into premiere, it won't playback the video for about 30-40 seconds and then its relativly snappy and fine. From everywhere that I read online, they suggest 32gb of ram for 1080p footage, then 64gb for 4k footage, and 128gb for 6k-8k footage. So I know I proabably need to upgrade to 64gb of ram if I want to actually start editing 4k footage, but I am trying to kill 2 birds with one upgrade; primarily the delay i'm getting whenver I switch from premiere to another program then back to premiere. So my questions are: Would 64gb get rid of that delay from switching between programs on a 1080p timeline? Would going up to 128gb further improve playback responsiveness and quality at 1080p and 4k? And lastly, would there be a difference between getting a 3200mhz kit or a 3600mhz when at these higher volumes of ram?

how’s the performance on premier pro with your ryzen computers or intel? Might upgrade to a 5700x

Hey everyone - I’m a freelance video producer and need to buy a laptop that allows me to edit on-site for quick turnarounds. Currently edit on a desktop system with a Ryzen 7 3700x and a 3070. Looking for a windows machine with a light enough weight to not be a huge burden for travel but has the power to handle 4k editing when needed. I know I’m describing a mac here but I’d prefer a windows laptop. Budget is 1500 but I can kick it up to 2000 if it’s mandatory.

Budget (including currency): Around $1200 USD Country: USA Verdict: So currently I'm just Editing on Davinci Resolve which for the build I have now, it gets slow at times, and I thought my memory was fine but I think I might need more or get a better version with 64 GBs instead to make it less of a hassle. But editing aside, the following is slightly a bigger priority of mine, I also Stream often and I done a couple test runs and whenever I play long hours I tend to get dropped frames on Stream especially on games with HD graphics like It Takes Two, so, again maybe better/more ram is needed. Gaming without Streaming anything is fantastic so no problem there. Other details: I plan on streaming on 1080p 60 for the most part, as far as editing, Its nothing insane like, I'm not editing 4K footage at all. Its 1080p gameplay and I'm cutting them up, maybe a few transitions with subtitles but that's it. I leave the pro FX to the experts if I want anything extra I would just not like to have to worry about any lag or setbacks when doing my tasks and streaming, I just want it out the way. I don't think I need to upgrade my motherboard but if that's what helps than so be it. I really think its either GPU or the Memory, or Both that need upgrades to help my case but, you guys know more than me. All help is appreciated, thanks! My Build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TCkqFg CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3.8 GHz 8-Core Processor GPU: Zotac GAMING Twin Edge OC GeForce RTX 3060 Ti LHR 8 GB Video Card Cooler: LianLi Galihad Liquid cooler ( 2 fans ) Mobo: Gigabyte X570 AORUS PRO WIFI ATX AM4 Motherboard Mem Sticks: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL18 Memory Power Supply: Corsair RM850x (2018) Big Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200 RPM Internal Hard Drive App Storage: Western Digital Black SN850X 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Case: Corsair 5000D Airflow ATX Case Extra Stuff: I also have 7 additional fans running in my ATX Tower

Hey, I'm LF a program that would let me trim a video (cut the last few minutes for example) and save it without any rendering, post processing or anything, just simply cut. Everything I know of is a legit editing program and has to re-render the whole thing which takes long. Thanks in advance!

I am searching for a 24in ips 144hz monitor and have come across this two new monitors. I cannot find reviews of this monitors on youtube and websites other than "Good item fast delivery". There prices are almost exactly the same (+1 dollar difference based on shops that deliver to my area). Here are the two monitors: MSI OPTIX G241 https://www.msi.com/Monitor/Optix-G241 ACER Nitro VG252Q P https://store.acer.com/en-sg/nitro-vg252q-p Any thoughts? specs are almost the same with: -MSI with sRGB 128%, ACWE 99% -MSI with 95% DCI P3, ACER N/A -both 1000:1 contrast -both 100000000 -Freesync Gsync compatible Acer has just two advantages that I've seen: -Acer with 400nits compared to MSI 250nits -Acer with HDR400. MSI has better srgb coverage. Damn it's a hard choice. I want to make this as a long term investment. Though, I can no longer increase my budget. I should mention that I do light photo and video editing, so TN panels are out. 24 inches is the max size my table can accomodate due to bars on the sides, it's more like a shelf so I cannot take those bars out. Table change not possible and out of budget. 24 is also the best size for the monitor viewing distance that I have. Thanks!

Hi! Just wanted to share a resource for video editors who are looking for video footage to practice editing. It's called Elements of Film and they make video practice projects called FilmKits with tons of footage, a story, and all the audio files (Sound design and music). It's a pretty great resource and worth checking out especially if you're tired of scouring the internet for scraps to play around with. They also have a Music Video to try out.

Budget (including currency): 2000 Canadian dollar Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: photoshop, video editing , some light gaming and some computer programming with java or python Other details: I wanted to follow LTT 4K video editing build, from 7-8 month ago and I tried to buy all the components. But I can’t find the motherboard listed it’s not available anymore. there are many many similar motherboards which has confused me . I’m a photographer and a student so I need to have something on budget(2000 Ca or a little more) With the capability to be used for at least 4-5 years. I work with RAW images. while searching for the motherboard I came across many comments which were saying that Now it’s a bad time to buy Graphic Card and Ill lose money... is true? I can wait for a month or so for my build if I can get better graphic card.... will other parts be cheaper too or it’s just the Graphic Card? I would appreciate any help, It’s my first time build and I’m really overwhelmed by all the similar products. Thanks a lot!

Hi everyone, a family member asked me for some help setting up a PC list for video and image editing and I was hoping somebody could help me since I'm a novice myself. Hey everyone! So I am looking for an effective monitor that will have good color-accuracy, while not necessarily breaking the bank. It doesn't need a stellar refresh rate, since I will not be using it for gaming. I mainly edit photos, do some video work and do a lot of online research, so the main specialization I would need, again, is that nice color accuracy and image quality. Ultra-wide monitors would be welcomed, but regular monitors would be nice too! Any suggestions?
