Hi guys I have a HP envy 13 Ad013na I searched up a teardown video but to no avail and I do not know what screw it is being held in with I play Minecraft on low settings and I get 60 fps (vsync disabled) and my fan ramps up super loud and kinda starts spitting out dust and sometimes the laptop physically gets too hot for me to use it comfortably like it will start to hurt a lil bit and I have no knowledge on how to do a deep clean of it so any help would be appreciated and my fps limit is unlimited and my clock speed is at 3.09 GHz under load and then like 10 secs later it drops to 1.03 GHz and occasionally my laptop will even turn off abruptly because it is too hot

So A few weeks ago I decided to dust my pc after having a scare from speccy that some of my components were hotter than usual, I used a vacuum to clean out the main load of dust from my fans and a paint brush for all the little bristles, I also used some multi surface wipes on the inside of the case. I didn’t take out a single component and I wouldn’t get a display via hdmi or VGA or DVI on any of my 2 monitors, I read online that I had to reseat my card, tried that twice, nothing changed. Then tested my RAM, no change. I then got my uncle to Shen day me a nvidia 610 cheap graphics card that he has spare to troubleshoot. Turns out my pc would display signal with that card. What do I do to be able to use my pc at a high standard for gaming again, as the nvidia gtx 610 1GB only gets about 1-8fps on games. Do I buy a new card. HELP!!?!?

Hey. I've got a GTX 970 and I've never really cleaned it properly in my ~4/5 years of having it. Currently it's having pretty high temperatures and fan speeds under small load even and it's sounding like a helicopter when playing games like CS:GO in the lowest graphics settings (not constantly, but in intervals). So I was wondering how do I really clean it? Is a wet cloth enough? Do I need to take it out (I'm not really knowledgeable and I'm afraid I would damage it if I tried putting it back in). So how do I do it? Thanks in advance

Hello all! so pretty much my fractal r6 is a dust pulling magnet I thought I was getting good positive pressure but maybe not. i have two nf-a15 in the front, 1 in the back and 3 nf-a12 exhausting in the top. Any thoughts on improving? I can control every fan via icue. i don’t mind adding more fans in the bottom if that would help more. thank you.

Hello people, as the title says i want to clean my keyboard ( non mechanical ) and my questions are : Is it ok to clean the rubber based keycaps with usual solvent ( warm water + soap ) without damaging them ? And alongside with this i have stickers of different language on the keycaps which started to peel off and the glue remained on the keys. Any help is appreciated. Thank you and have a great day/night

Hey Guys, I've just bought a dust filter roll. I could cut it to size and put it over all the gaps in my case. Would this cause any issues?

I've had the same Corsair TX750 since I first built my PC 5 years ago. It's treated me well, and i've had 0 problems with it in that entire span of time. 2 days ago I bought a Seasonic Prime Titanium 850W, since I wanted a modular PSU (I realize titanium is overkill, but I had my reasons. None of them practical, but that's beside the point) to try and get a handle on cable management. The Seasonic is great, I absolutely LOVE that PSU. This post is about the old corsair PSU i am replacing. I PLANNED on using it for a second build (a cheaper PC to try things like custom watercooling before trying on my main machine), but when looking inside of it I see tons of gunk-looking stuff. It's on the capacitors, it's on the PFC coils, it's on the board, etc. My current theory is that it is dust that has been melted (if thats possible) and melded into these clumps. I did have the PSU facing down, and on carpet, so there is naturally going to be a lot of dust. The questions I have are: 1) is this dust, or something else? 2) is this safe to continue using in another PC? Keep in mind it was working flawlessly from when I installed it 5 years ago to when I took it out to replace it. I have no doubt it would work if I put it in again too, but I don't know if that's safe until I know what this stuff is. Here's a picture: http://imgur.com/vuMjVZk at first glance it looks like it's coming from the capacitor, but that doesn't explain the extra chunk of it that is on the PFC coil to the left of the chunk bridging the cap and the coil. Also, if a capacitor was leaking that badly, wouldn't the PSU stop working? Also potentially related, one of the capacitors is bent quite a bit: http://imgur.com/3qLIiUr That image was taken directly on top of the psu, so the angle is from the capacitor's bendedness. I don't see any leaking at the base though, and there is that cable touching it so perhaps the cable just pushed it over the course of 5 years? haven't looked inside this PSU since i installed it, so anything's possible. First time posting so if I screwed up the format, lemme know. Thanks for any and all tips. EDIT: I just realized that the "goop" couldnt have leaks from the capacitors down, because this orientation is opposite the way it was in my case. If the cap was leaking, it would have leaked onto the fan. Is it possible this happened as I was removing it and didn't notice? I have used PSU tester on it after seeing this stuff, and it does still function fine.

First time posting here so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place or anything, but I have a Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX with the default 3 140? mm fans in it, and was curious on what I'd have to buy or tweak to control the nonstop dust that gets on the tempered glass side panel. The dust makes the case look absolutely horrible and it's gotten quite annoying. For those of you that don't know, the fan setup is as follows: Tips/suggestions would be appreciated. I have it hooked to a PWM fan hub so there isn't much I can do in terms of individual fan speeds.

Hi, I have got a Zalman Z9 Neo case with a windowed side panel. The title pretty much says it all, but When I clean the side panel it is crystal clear but then after about a day marks will form on it. I am assuming these marks are dust, as they come off with a cloth. Any tips on how to stop these marks forming? Thanks

Hey experts, I'm building my new pc, and I'm going to use the Define S case from Fractal Design. Everything is perfect about that case except for one thing. The top dust filter is "missing". I'm going to install a water cooler from Cooler Master, and I want to install the fans for cooling at the top. That's why I'm making my own one. So the question is; What are the dimensions of side A and B. (See picture) I believe it is 140x280mm but I'm not sure, because I don't have the case. That's it. Thanks.

So, I'm finally tired of gaming on a laptop and have finally decided to get a new PC in my dorm. The only problem is, there's almost always construction going on around the area, or inside the university itself, which means there's always a lot of dust, sand, and grit in the air. Now the case I was looking at was a Corsair 100R, and was wondering is there any specific fan set-up that is good at keeping the internals as dust free as possible? Or are there any 'after-market' way's of dust-proofing the case vents? The method I was thinking about was perhaps a very thin cloth taped to the case where the intake fans are, and preferably washing that cloth every week or two depending on how much dust it captures. I know some cases come with dust filters, but availability and price is a major factor in my region, nevertheless, I would love recommendations for low-medium end cases. Cheers!

I'm building a new pc in my room but there is no space on my desk to put the pc and I want to rise it up off the carpet but couldn't find anything online to help me out. Any suggestions?

I've just had my CyberPower Desktop case fan replaced (myself) since it was making whole lot of noise/grinding/wobbling. Now my new case fan that I've received from them, for free, had lasted about 2 months and is beginning to make little bit of those noise for 10 seconds and resuming back to normal. Could it be the dusts that is wearing them off so quickly? All the other fans are fine...

Dust on my Glass. How to clean it without coming back again?
Icefly posted a topic in Power Supplies
Hello Is there a good way to clean my acrylic panel on my Define C? Something like a liquid that absorbs dust. The problem is the dust sticks right on the panel after 1-2 days and it looks so damn annoying. I know there are so many dust filters but it seems like they are not enough -Icefly- 3 replies

Hiya, I had a question about the case I was going to purchase for my new build. I was considering strongly the Phantek Enthoo Pro M due to the 5.25" bay which is essential for me, and the airflow capabilities with the case. My problem, however, is that I want to keep the most dust and cat hair out of it as much as possible. Since this particular case has an exposed top that the cat may sit on (albeit with a magnetic dust filter) and intakes on the side of the front panel that are actually BEHIND the dust filter, should I consider another [budget] case when taking into consideration the cat? If so, which ones? My build is the following, for reference if at all necessary: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MBndKZ Thank you!

I am planning on upgrading my Dell Zino HD 410 CPU to a N660 Phenom II, as it is getting these random spikes of slowness. I am planning on cleaning out dust while I am at it. I have an ESD strap and thermal paste. Any advice? I am planning on buying the CPU here.

I need some advice. I have reviewed multiple YouTube videos on the subject, but none apply. I am concerned about my current fan setup. I have 3 pull (intake) fans and 2 push (out-take) fans. Two of the pull fans are on my dual radiator, and they are Corsair, The rest are CM. If it matters in this case (lol), I have a CM Mastercase Pro 5 and the radiator is top-mounted. The radiator fans are running around 600-800 rpm (Both rad-fans are connected to the CPU-Fan pin) and the GPU is running passive. (0 rpm) The rear intake fan is running around 600rpm, and the two front outtake fans are running around 1000rpm. Any ideas on how to reduce dust? I don't like how I have negative air pressure in my system. (Sorry for the super late edit, been really busy.)

I may need to mass purchase dust filters later on this year and was curious as to what they are made of? Is there an accepted "hierarchy" as to what materials are better? Additionally, I was curious as to if y'all know any good places to buy them en masse. I'm currently looking at alibaba, but totally open for companies in the US (For the convenience of shipping times and better customer service). Thank You.

My case would have one intake in the front, and one exhaust in the back plus the 2 fans that come with the masterliquid 240, and here is the tricky part. If I use the masterliquid's fans as intake then would it mean that heat from the CPU would get back into the case heating everything else like the gpu, mobo, hdd. If I use it as exhaust then I would have a negative air flow, 3 exhaust versus 1 intake, and negative airflow would mean dust which I really don't want to have in my PC. Is this correct or am I wrong?

Hello, I'm looking at purchasing some fan filters to reduce my computer's dust intake and I was curious as to everyone's experience on the subject. I have heard some negative feedback regarding filters (reported difference of +10-20 degrees C on some hardware), but I also understand dust being the ultimate killer of cooling. My place is definitely more dusty than normal with 2 dogs and lots of foot traffic. I dont want to dampen my performance if filters are going to increase my temps by that much of a margin. I would like peace of mind regarding dust, but I have no problem with regularly cleaning my hardware if that means I need to go filterless. I'm going to be purchasing some higher end hardware and OCing my CPU with a 240mm AIO liquid cooler, also going to be running a 1080ti. Will have a phantom 530 case with 2x140mm and 4x120mm cougar fans (going for positive pressure of course). I'm also not too concerned about noise levels. The filters I was considering are pretty basic: https://www.amazon.com/eBoot-Filter-Computer-Cooler-Dustproof/dp/B01N6BFVKO What are your opinions/experiences with fan filters?? Thanks!
