For all the 4K monitor users, this is for you! I'm gonna tag @LinusTech, he is frustrated by this desktop scaling issue. The next Windows 10 update would be "The Redstone" is already out for Windows Insiders (Preview build). As part of the this effort, Windows 10 has polished the most commonly used desktop UI to look beautiful and clear even at 400% scaling.” Source: HotHardware, WinBeta.

i have a hp display 1600x900 but i don't know how much i need dpi for play on dhis screen help please

DPI is the number of a pixels your cursor moves for every inch you move your mouse. My question is, if you change the resolution Windows is running at, say from 1080p to 1440p, will your mouse sensitivity actually feel slower or does the mouse program adjust for that? Also, if you have Windows running at 1440p, but you have your game set to Fullscreen 1080p, will it use the the resolution of Windows or of the game?

Hi guys, My current mouse dpi settings is 1200dpi, i play on 1680x1050resolution. I want to calculate how much dpi i should have on 1920x1080resolution to keep the mouse movement same, and how to calculate it by myself(formula) or a link with online calculator? thx in advance

So i have the razer abyssus (I think it's the 3.5G, it's the one that came with the league of legends runes) and a few days back i booted my computer and all of the sudden my sensitivity was different, and now the DPI on the fly settings at the bottom of the mouse don't work anymore. I don't think the mouse has suffered any physical damage, and it has worked perfectly fine for the past year, i have no clue what happened.

Hey there everyone, just been trying to figure out what the native dpi of my Corsair M95 is since i've read that using dpi's other than native can introduce interpolation and whatnot. I tried to find out what the native DPI is but couldn't find anything, the only thing i found was a thread on overclock.net which listed what sensors different mice used. (http://www.overclock.net/t/854100/gaming-mouse-sensor-list) The corsair m95 apparently uses an A9800 sensor which i have no clue what that is, i'm assuming its an Avago ADNS-9800 sensor? Any help would be appreciated

Hello people of the internet, today we meet to speak of our CS:GO sensitivity. Personally, two months ago I used 2000 DPI and 5 sens, but now I use 800 DPI with 5 sens. In those two months I went from a scummy Gold Nova 1 to a less scummy Master Guardian 2. I intend to slowly drop my DPI as time goes by, but trust me it really helped.

I've played CS:GO for nearly 500 hours (since May 2015), mostly playing comps and custom games with my friends. The thing is that, everyone I know plays on a dpi under 1500. They all say that it makes you more accurate and almost all pros also play with a dpi under 1000. I can play with 2000 DPI just fine and do better than some of my friends, but I do tend to struggle when it comes at long range with a rifle because my mouse moves to fast sometimes. I counter this with my mouse's sniper button (if I remember it lol), but I'm not used to such a low DPI. Should I lower my DPI and get used to it or should I just keep going with the 2000 DPI that I'm used to?

Hi, I have a new screen. My old one's width was 768 and my new one's is 1080. My old dpi was 800 and sensitivity was 0.975 (source games). Both have a 16:9 ratio. Math made: 768 -- 1080 800 -- x x=1125 SO SMART Is there anything else to it really? Cause I have a g502 and sensitivity nummaz r no problem0. It really is messed up to me cause for some reason I can adapt to sensitivities almost instantaneously and I only notice when it becomes difficult to turn or hit cause I've been jumping around games and sensitivities lately. So I just wanted to go back to the gud ole sensitivity I feel very comfortable in. Thank you for your time and help.

I have been struggling for a while now in finding the "perfect in-game sensitivity" on Counterstrike GO, I have found a suitable one and one I am comfortable with however to achieve this I have to have a very low in-game sensitivity and a very high DPI. The sensitivity I like is: a DPI of "1600" and an in-game sensitivity of 1.9 I was wondering if it would be capable with some sort of formula or sum to work out how I could achieve the exact same sensitivity whilst playing the game but with a DPI of 400. Is it possible to work out what the in-game sensitivity would have to be? Cheers I hope one of u guys can understand what I'm on about

A bit about my situation (can skip): I have been window shopping for a 1440p monitor for over a year now, and am considering how wise it would be to spring for one this summer. I am intrigued by freesync (and gsync) but haven't noticed problems with tearing aside from a few instances (I am pretty casual) and don't really want a "gaming" monitor. I am already planning to get an oculus, so most of my eyecandy gaming will be in that I believe. I basically just want to upgrade for productivity and image quality (coming from a not-too-bad ViewSonic VX2370SMH-LED 1080p 23" IPS monitor). A couple of months ago I bought a K272HUL from the Amazon Marketplace with "light scratching" and the condition listed as "very good", but it had noticeable pits in the center of the upper screen so it was extremely prominent, although it is likely I would have returned it due to horrible back light bleed alone. I guess the moral of the story is if the price is $40 cheaper than everything similar, there's probably a catch. Also after ordering a refurb monitor for a friend's budget build I noticed a strip of dim lighting all along the right edge and some pretty bad backlight bleed on the bottom left corner (PLS panel). So I think at this point I have learned that I am pretty picky when it comes to my displays, and am slowly accepting the fact that I probably just need to pony up some cash since I will get what I pay for I guess. Also, the prices on 1440p displays don't seem to be plummeting like I thought they might with 4K apparently about to leapfrog 1440p as the next "consumer" resolution. Okay, so the above paragraph is back-story but basically I am looking at 1440p displays for general use and light productivity. I want to buy something as an investment that I can use and be content with for 5+ years. Because of this, I think it will be worthwhile to pursue a quality brand because of the superior QA and warranty support that goes along with them. My current main interest is the Dell U2515H because it seems like a solid all around panel. I would like to hear from anyone with experience using 1440p on 25" displays (if there are any of you on this forum). I test drove a 27" 1440p display and it took a bit of adapting from a 23" 1080p panel, but I doubt it would be a long term problem. I am using my 12.5" 1080p laptop without any scaling and have gotten used to that so assuming an appropriate sitting distance I don't think 25" is out of the question for 1440p. Sorry for the long post, but I am basically asking for opinions on 1440p at 25" and possibly experiences with this panel or suggestions for similarly high quality panels. I have a somewhat fluid budget, but want to try to keep this purchase under $400 or at least close. TL;DR: What are ya'lls opinions on the Dell U2515H and 25" 2560x1440 displays in general? Any suggestions for another high quality panel backed up by a good company that is a better bang for the buck?

So if some people use their mouse on 6000DPI !! How do they control the cursor in Windows? Since, a tiny movement would zip you across the screen. Am I missing something here?

So i was in the market for a Gaming monitor with all the bells and whistles and was about to buy the benq XL2720Z,but then i saw the RoG Swift and those awesome bezels and that 1440p screen, the only reason i hadnt switched to 1440p despite having a powerful gpu was because i needed 144 hz since i play lots of counter strike,so i ordered the swift and nw im waiting for it.Now i remember that someone told me that as your resolution increases ur dpi changes, for example 1080p 400 dpi would be faster than 1440p 400 dpi, since i play a lot of cs is there anyway i can get perfect dpi on 1440p that is the same as 400dpi 1080p,or am i compleatly wrong abt this??? thank u all in advance!!

Hey so I'm putting together my first rig and I've gotten to the point where I'm looking for peripherals. Having never used any serious hardware I gotta know... What do I look for in a quality mouse? Its a budget build so my target range is around $30 USD or less. What should I be looking for as far as: Laser vs. Optical Max DPI Is Braided Cable needed? How many extra buttons do you look for What manufacturers are the best And finally, do you have any mice you would recommend?

Hello Everyone Recently I have just heard about this thing called "raw input" basically, it disables 'Windows Mouse sensitivity interference while you are in game.' I have found this really useful while playing a few games, (That allow you to enable raw input). But I was thinking, what if you could just disable windows sensitivity as a whole? and just use raw input from your mouse? Now this idea, I have tried searching on the net. But I don't seem to find any programs/software that will allow you to 'enable raw input' and disable windows mouse sensitivity. If anyone has found or even perhaps created a program to disable windows mouse sensitivity, and enable raw input straight from your mouse. Please let me know of any information, because since I do work with animation, that sometimes requires a finer touch then windows sensitivity. So yeah guys, I hope this made sense, if it doesn't and you have any suggestions. Just let me know. Cheers, Pepsomo.

I very recently purchased a logitech g502 gaming mouse from amazon. However, after playing a few games (BF4, Dying Light, gmod) for a day or two it just doesn't cradle the size of my hand enough. It makes my ring finger and pinky finger ache after a few minutes of playing (due to my grip style) as there is not enough support. So I am considering returning it. Does anyone know of any gaming mice that suite people with larger hands with a palm grip style? Thanks. NOTE: Before this, I had a Cyber Snipa Silencer mouse that was very comfortable for me. The only reason for upgrading was its sensor had finally given in.

So everyone has the "ultimate" gaming mouse with DPI-counts like the rising kilowatts of vacuum cleaners. Please show me which mouse do you use, and which setting do you use if you're NOT gaming... At my side it's a Roccat Kone XTD which is used at 6000-6400 DPI in normal windows-usage (because I don't like to move the hand very actively for my 21:9 screen) But I have a quick-DPI-button for 200 DPI for precision work which I use to align the mouse for screenshots aso... What's your settings with a gaming mouse while not gaming?

I've seen a lot of misinformation on this subject so I thought I'd share my experience to help others with similar questions. There are also a few side notes of my experience with this specific card and monitor. Do games running at 1080p on a 4k monitor appear blurrier than they would on a native 1080p monitor? Does scaling work well with Windows 8.1? How do gtx 980s fair in real-world 4k use? I jumped on the 4k bandwagon with an ASUS PB287Q and a reference gtx 980 (time to update my profile and signature). I used EVGAs step up program from an ACX SC GTX780 for around $60 USD + $50 USD in shipping. I'm pleased. I also splurged and bought this 4K monitor even though I swore I'd hold out for a monitor offering 4K, GSYNC and IPS (which was just announced!!! yay!!). My idea was that even though my single 4GB 980 wouldn't be able to handle most AAA games at 4k with decent settings, I could simply play in 1080p in those, and 4K in less demanding situations thanks to the exact 1/4 pixel ratio. Let me say right here this was indeed the case. It hasn't been quite that simple though. The first thing to be aware of (of course) is Windows scaling. Being new to 4k, even though I was familiar with scaling and how it worked, I forgot about it a few times and even underestimated it's extension into games! So, when I fired up Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, and Alien Isolation to test out my theory of seeing s nice 1080p image on my 4k monitor I was disappointed to see blurry menus and subpar visuals in game. I though "Oh no! They were right! Native will always be better!" But, after simply turning of scaling my games looked great. I compared what I was seeing in game on my PB287Q(27"3840x2160) and my VG247QE(24"1080p), which were nearly identical. I say nearly because as someone else pointed out on another thread there is a very slight difference. Very very slight. This difference has to do with the squareness of the individual pixels. The pixels on the 1080p monitor are slightly more rounded, thus, for lack of a better term, blending with surrounding pixels more. Whereas the 4K monitor's pixels (though invisible to me) are squarer and more defining. All that I could perceive was this very slight difference and that was only while looking at them 2" from the screens. Anywho, there's your answer. You will be able to game perfectly at 1080p on a 3840x2160 monitor. Another thing to note here is that you can turn scaling off for either or both monitors, all or specific applications. Right now I simply have all scaling turned off but when I work up the energy I dial in all the applications and games to my liking. On to the monitor itself. I'm returning it. I bought it on Amazon Warehouse for ~$550 US used but in pristine condition. Sadly I'm experiencing the popping and flickering that others have reported. This is somewhat of a relief as I originally (before I saw such a good deal on a near Pro Art ASUS 4K monitor with a stellar Linus review) waiting it out for a monitor that would have everything I wanted, 4K, IPS and GSYNC. Thankfully it was announced at CES, so I hopefully haven't too long to wait for such a monitor. And finally the reference 980. So the main reason I went for the reference 980 was my plan to run 2xSLI and I figured it would be the best solution as far as cooling. Although a lot of people including Logan of Tek Syndicate seem to be happy using aftermarket cards for their 980 SLI setups. I was indeed able to OC getting around 1.65GHZ on the core though my ram didn't go above 4GHZ which seems to be at odds with a lot of other OC results. Maybe I have Samsung and they have Hynix VRAM or vise versa. I don't know. With the rumors of an 8GB maxwell card coming soon I think I'll just save up for that upgrade to help me run 4K. I hope this information was helpful to you. I will be buying the ASUS PG27AQ as soon as it's available. I do love my VG247QE, it's lusciously high frame rates and low input lag but I crave the 4K and IPS panel and am excited to test out GSYNC (good riddance VSYNC). The PB287Q....well it's malfunctioning so I have to let it go.

So, i'm a little confused. I see a lot of people getting 27" monitors in 1440p (I've seen even 24" 4K monitors) So, my question is if 1440p on anything less than 30" is enjoyable. For both gaming and productivity work, since the dpi/ppi would be around 108 for just a 27" 1440p monitor. I'm considering moving up to 1440p, but i'm coming from a 24" 1080p monitor
