Back in Oct 2016, Dell confirmed that they were working on a convertible 2 in 1 version of the XPS 13, and would be announced in CES 2017. It seems Dell could reach its original target. Windows Central discovered an image and blank product page on Dell's website about a new notebook called "XPS 13 2 in 1", not much was known about the new machine as it is a blank product page. But from the image, it seems the new laptop would still feature the Infinity Edge display, and the laptop will turn to tablet mode by folding the screen backward via a 360° hinge, not via flipping the screen like the old XPS 12 which Linus owned. Windows Central suggested that we could expect a similar config with the Kaby Lake version of the XPS 13. We could know more about this new laptop if Dell included this in its CES 2017 line up. http://www.theverge.com/2017/1/1/14139216/dell-xps-13-2-in-1 http://m.windowscentral.com/dell-reveals-xps-13-9365-convertible-laptop XPS 13 2-in-1's product page http://www.dell.com/ca/p/xps-13-9365-2-in-1-laptop/pd?dgc=BA&cid=306033&lid=5794655&acd=123092276202786724c101156640&ven3=101303210613466223 Dell Launching 2-in-1 Version of XPS 13 at CES 2017 (10/10/2016) http://www.laptopmag.com/articles/xps-13-2-in-1 *update: Dell revealed this laptop, but it is a bit disappointing.... -Core i5-7Y54 or Core i7-7Y75 processor -up to 16GB of ram -FHD/QHD display - 802.11ac wireless -one Thunderbolt 3 port, one micro-SD card slot, and one USB Type-C 3.1 ports - including a USB-C to USB-A adapter -1.24 kilograms/2.7 pounds, 0.32 to 0.54 inches thick -currently only available in silver color LaptopMag.com has an exclusive review of this machine, which you can read it via this link: http://www.laptopmag.com/reviews/laptops/dell-xps-13-2-in-1

I am planning on buying the high end version of the Dell XPS 15 with Kaby Lake core i7, GTX 1050, and 16 GB of RAM. I am wondering if that'll be good enough to last me about 6-8 years. I understand that if I want high performance throughout the years I would need to upgrade. However, if I just want to do daily work would it be enough while not being slow? Or do you guys have some other advice for me?

Hi Guys, We are looking at upgrading our very very old win server 2003 server. We are looking at DELL Server here: http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=pet1302&model_id=poweredge-t130&c=ie&l=en&s=bsd&cs=iebsdt1 The system will probably be built with Windows Server Essentials or Foundation. Probably be Essentials because we have no in house IT. Small firm, 6 people. We need the server predominantly for central data and for a practice management system. The practice management software company insist on a server to run their software. So onto the question. RAID - we reckon either RAID 1 ( Mirroring ) with 2 x 1TB Drives ( or 2TB drives? ) OR RAID 5 with 3 x 1TB Drives. Dell seems to configure all this which is asked as part of the system config at the link above. A RAID card is included ( two versions ) We are assuming that with both RAID 1 and Raid 5 if a drive goes down the mirrored drive will auto kick in to keep the system running? The final thought is HOT SWAPPABLE Drives. It doesnt indicate this at the link above, probably a Q for DELL. Any thoughts on Hot Swappable vs not? Oh and as I am asking - Is it worth partitioning the primary drive for op sys and everything else? And size if so? - again asked further down the config link above I am not asking this from a perspective of a novice - I am in IT, but as i am doing this i would like valued opinion on many of these Qs form others here Much appreciated Cheers and Thanks A

dell views about new Dell Inspiron 7000 2017 !

what do you think about new Dell Inspiron 7000 2017 model ? what's official date of release ? is it worth it to pay for top model ?? -
hello all, been a while now i'm looking for a laptop for uni, my budget is about £1000, i really don't want to go much over that. i'm looking for a laptop for content creation along side uni work. so i will require horsepower and a good screen, along side something relatively slim (doesn't have to be a macbook or anything just nothing like one of those big gaming laptops, i'd rather sacrifice some performance to keep it slimmer) so some needs are: IPS panel, i7 6xxx series is preferred, backlit keyboard (as i work in the dark a lot), Cuda GPU, SSD and a 1tb hard drive (not an SSHD), and an SD card reader but i'm willing to sacrifice it it's a good enough laptop. what i have been currently look at are: Dell inspiron 15 ( £ 950) however i heard the build quality of this is not that great but if any of you have expirience i would love to hear it or HP Omen 15 1080p ( £ 1000) 4K ( £ 1200) (in this case would spend more to future proof to 4K) i hear that the screen wasn't that great colours wise(contrast ratio at least). but if any of you have experience i would love to hear it. or Lenovo Y700 15 1080p ( £ 999) 4K ( £ 1099) however i am most reluctant to get this laptop, i saw in linus's review ages ago that the screen has a weird glitch in the older model where if you play a game at 1080p on the 4K version it crops in. also i have had a lenovo laptop and it's not really been that good, forcing a windows refresh multiple times and with a key on the keyboard breaking, along with my dad having the lenovo Y70, (the one before) and the intergrated graphics on his CPU was dying (server artifacting and screen flicker) so needs to get it replaced.) so i'm worried to go with them personally. also colour accuracy is not that great of the screen. does anyone else have an alternative suggestions, i use the Adobe CC with some Avid. thank you in advance.

I have a Xeon W3565 CPU, @3.2Ghz , and I don't really understand some things. Well, most things. It seems there are some six and eight core CPU's that will fit in my socket. Do more cores, at the same clock speed mean better performance? Also despite reading and reading and reading I am still confused on what RAM is best for gaming. I have 16gigs of Kingston PC3-10700, not sure if it's ECC. Is there a faster RAM option open to me? Every answer I find seems to confuse to bring up two more. I have to say after solving some cooling issues and getting a GTX 750ti ( already am looking to get something more future proof ) I am happy with it on the whole. The HDD has 16,000 hours on it so I will eventually have to upgrade everything. It's kinda overwhelming. The only issue that is chronic and won't go away is the occasional fit it has where it won't boot because of a "cage fan failure" errors. It's really a pain in the ass. I replaced the front fans to no avail. Then I found out that there is a proprietary Dell hard drive cage with fan that didn't come with the PC because it only has one HDD. Can I assume the original config. for this PC had the extra HD caddy and fan and now that it's gone and not detected is the reason I am getting this occasional but chronic error? Any other suggestions or comments are welcome.

Alright, so it's come to a point where I absolutely resent getting an Acer laptop 2 years ago. So I'm getting a new one! The only query is I am stuck between 2 laptops, the Lenovo y700 {Intel Core i7 6700HQ, 8 gigs DDR4 2133mhz, 1TB HDD w/ 128/256 gig SSD, Windows 10, 15.6 Inch 1920x1080 IPS display with a 960M 4gigs ofGDDR5 and easy access to guts of laptop} and the Dell Inspiron 15 7000s series {Intel Core i7-6700HQ, 8 gigs LDDR3 1600mhz, 1TB HHD, 15.6 inch 1920x1080 IPS display with a 960M 4gigs of GDDR5 and easy access to guts as well}. I don't know which one to choose or if there is a better one to be my new daily driver (if you have a suggestion, pls don't hesitate to comment as I am really stuck) so I need some opinions from people, yourselves, who have a more well-rounded experience than I do as the furthest I have been to any other laptop is in PC World explaining to a sales assistant how my grandma doesn't need a mac for web browsing. I'm gonna give a bit of a description of what I do so I can get some good opinions on what laptop I should go for. I am a Developer coding in 7 languages, Linux System Administrator, Photographer, Video Editor, and Photoshopper. I am on my laptop almost every day as I do a lot of coding for paying clients, I also do it for my own learning experience. Like I said I am a System Administrator, my role consists of data protection so I am normally one of the first Administrators to know about a problem if it is harming to the data in any way. I am a full-time media student at a fairly local college (about 10 miles away), Most of my lectures consist of me listening while doing something productive related to an assigned project. This project can span from raw photo taking to heavy photoshopping on 4k res photos or animation drawing. Video Editing is just about the same as the Photography & Photoshopping side of the Media course, it takes me a LONG time to render any video with a resolution over 1080p on this laptop (I5-4210u, 840m 2 gigs DDR3 VRAM) and can sometimes crash as the task given is too resourceful for the hardware to keep up. Oh, I also game, but not to any hardcore extent, only when I am free. I hope that insight can give you guys a more information about what I need. My budget maxes out at around 1K (Sterling). PS: Although I'd love to splash the cash on a good custom built desktop and just get a good cheap laptop I simply don't have the time to sit around statically in one place due to how tight my schedule normally is. I also love the portability of a laptop over a desktop as well. Thanks in advance,- D

I am trying to decide between getting a Dell XPS 13 or a Razer Blade Stealth. With the XPS13 I would get the i7 with the 3200x1800 screen. With the Blade Stealth I would get the i7 with the 4k screen. Storage size doesn't really matter to me. I would mostly be web browsing, editing music and photos, and playing some less demanding games like Garry's Mod and Portal. I need a 13 inch laptop to fit in my bag, and to not be too large to take everywhere, and I mean everywhere.

After the death of my old ROG G551JM, I decided that I needed new laptop for studying, and considering that what I study doesn't require a whole lot of computational power (computer engineering, mostly just doing Java, C++ and a few other languages), I specifically wanted something very portable. The XPS 13 got way too much praise for me to overlook it. It got excellent reviews from a lot of credible sources, and when I found a killer deal for the XPS 13 9530 (the Skylake version), I felt like it was worth a shot. My initial impressions when buying directly from Dell was sceptical to say the least. They're got the most slow, unprofessional and clunky website that I've ever used to purchase something. Hopefully the product is a little better than the shopping experience... if the product ever arrives that is. The shipping was extremely slow compared to what I'm used to (three weeks isn't really acceptable), and at first I thought that it was just my location that was inconvenient for Dell's shipping company until I checked with others online. It seemed like people were consistently reporting shipping times of two weeks or more, and even though I didn't have to pay for shipping, it certainly wouldn't have been the cheapest if I would have had to pay for it myself. That raised more concerns; how many ages will this take in case it needs service and must be returned? Hopefully I won't have to find out. The important bit is of course the computer itself, which is really the whole reason why I'm writing this. Despite getting a somewhat decent discount, the device itself carries a premium pricetag. The computer itself should be of premium build quality, then? Well, not quite... The first noticeable annoyance I had was coil whine. I had just bought a premium laptop and I have to deal with coil whine?! I contacted Dell customer support and asked about the problem (I did not ask for a refund, which was a mistake), and the answer kind of shocked me; it's not a design flaw according to them. I have never owned a laptop with coil whine before, and that made me lose all respect for Dell and the weird combination of engineering marvels and disasters that the XPS 13 that I had bought was. It doesn't just stop there, though. On closer inspection, I could feel two screws on the bottom of the computer that weren't properly secured. This could either be slacking in terms or quality or just purely random and accidental. Again, people were reporting loose screws, loose trackpads, bottom-covers that weren't properly attached and a slew of other quality issues. Compared to many other laptops I've had experience with, I've never seen a laptop with so many different problems reported by users, and among those problems, the coil whine and trackpad had an overwhelming lead. Luckily, the loose bottom cover seemed to be the only oversight in my case, with the trackpad being slightly tighter than it should, something which got kind of used to. I was convinced that Dell has a lot of issues regarding quality at this point, and that quality control is a general problem with Dell computers compared to other manufacturers. To finish it off, the software support is some of the worst that I've seen in quite some time (and damn, my standards are quite low here). The drivers aren't just outdated(which is to be expected), they straight-out doesn't work. The display drivers are still unstable, the audio drivers are also responsible for a wide range of problems (distortion and stability related), and there are some well-known issues with the both the networking hardware and software related to poor coverage and dropouts. It's also bloated to the rim straight out of the box, making this computer an absolute NO if you're not competent enough to reinstall Windows on it. There are also some important BIOS-updates that I had to install for the computer to go properly into sleep-mode. Not impressed. Drivers and software can be outdated, but they're at least supposed to work. To end this post, I'm not going to say that people should run away from Dell. They're obviously doing something right since a lot of people are happy with their product, but in case you're planning on buying a computer from them, make your life a bit easier and follow my suggestions: - If you notice something that's a little off with your new computer, don't hesitate. RETURN IT. Dealing with Dell's customer support can be very tedius, and returing it within the first 14 days ensures that you'll get your money back. - Prepare for long shipping times. Don't order anything from Dell if you're not prepared to wait for it or if you need it ASAP. - If you have to deal with Dell's customer support, be polite and calm. Their customer support is horrible, but if you're calm and cooperative, they'll usually cooperate, too. - Inspect your computer closely for faults and defects upon receiving it. If you read all of this, thank you. I'm not trying to paint a dark image of Dell, but all the praise that both the XPS 13 and 15 has gotten might have overshadowed the rest of the truth for a lot of people. If others have similar experiences please share them.

Hi, I just wanted to ask. I can't make my Dell U2713HM display 1440p.. I was using DVI-D monitor to HDMI R7 360 before and it worked. Maybe about 4 months ago. Now I have Inno3d Herculez 780. And I can only make it up to 1080p max. Why can't it have a 1440p display now? I tride GPU scaling on NVIDIA control panel, still the same. Customed reso to 1440p, its crap. Used DDU to flash ATI drivers. Still the same. Any inputs?

I just finished building my Dad a new computer for his home business and I told him for his birthday, which is coming up very soon, that I would upgrade his monitor for him. He is currently using an Acer S23HL which for him isn't all that bad but I notice him leaning towards the screen to read text on websites and his bank statements. I found this ASUS VC279H or ASUS VN279Q on Amazon and I'm thinking about this as a decent upgrade for him. What are your thoughts on this upgrade? Any other options out there that I may be missing? Any suggestions or opinions are greatly appreciated. Some things to consider: I would like to stick with ASUS or Dell monitors and under $250.00 since I'm using a $100.00 Amazon Gift Card to help with the purchase. (Of course monitor must be available on Amazon hence the gift card) and 27 inches would be ideal.

I'm trying to decide between and ultra-wide 3440x1440, a 4k 60hz panel or a 2560x1400 100+hz monitor. I'm using the Asus ROG Strix GTX 1070. For 1440p high refresh rate I found the Dell 24 S2417DG for $499 with G-Sync and a 165hz refresh rate. This seems like a good option but I would like to what is available from the 4k and ultra-wide category for $400-600. Thanks!

I am need of a new laptop, which will be used for: School Travel Photography I have a budget of around $1500 CAD, with a slight extra allowance for something truly fantastic. After much deliberation, I have narrowed down my choices to the Dell XPS 13 (non-touch), or the Lenovo 710s. I like the QHD+ screen on the Dell, however the hit on battery life makes it a hard sell. I am aware of portable power banks, but packing extra weight when cycling isn't ideal. The Lenovo has a great display, and an increased amount of storage over the Dell. My only qualm is the build quality/quality control. Please let me know which one is worth my money

I have a Dell Optiplex 790 DT(full size) desktop pc that I got for $150 with an I 5 and Windows 10, my only issue with it is compatibility. I cant get this Mobo to do anything! It has different fan headers, the Sata ports are right behind the PCI-E X16 slot so my card choice is limited and I'm afraid to remove the heatsink if it has some proprietary connector I could break. I had some ideas that I'd like to throw out and see if you guys and gals think they would work. for the fans, I was thinking a molex adaptor but then I couldnt control them, maybe a 5 pin to 4 adaptor, but most places are sold out. for the Sata ports, Im thinking of a pci based solution with alternate sata connections. I'm low on funds and most of my fixes dont go over $20-40, I'd like to keep this set up for another year at least. Any tips on fixing OEM cases, motherboards appreciated!

Hello I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 Model Number "PP20L". The screen will not turn on in any way. There is no codes showing with the indicators. The screen wont turn on when boot and loading to windows. I have tried using one stick of RAM, and that didn't work. Then I just opened it and took it all apart looking for loose wires and there was not any. So I put it back together and power it on and it still wont work. Is there anyone who can help? Thank You for your time.

Hi all. I'm having a very strange problem with my Dell U3415W monitor and thought I'd ask here for any advice, before starting a warranty replacement claim. I've had the monitor since February this year and it was working perfectly up until about a week ago, when it started exhibiting a very strange problem. This problem is intermittent, and seems to come and go with no apparent cause. Sometimes the monitor will be fine for a day's use. Other times it'll be fine for a few hours, then the problem appears, persists for about half an hour to an hour, then stops. I've been able to stop the problem a couple of times with sleep/wake cycles, but other times it's persisted through those. The other 2 monitors I use on this PC are fine, and don't exhibit any problems at all. The appearance of this problem didn't coincide with any software/driver updates or other hardware changes. The problem is quite difficult to explain. Essentially the monitor can't display black or very dark elements without some kind of artifacting and moire pattern. The exact nature of this artifacting is different for black than it is for a very dark grey. I made the following short video to try and demonstrate the problem: Has anyone else seen a similar problem to this before? Any suggestions for what to try and fix it? Thanks in advance for any replies. My system specs are below:

So I recently revived a 2009 Dell Inspiron 1545 with 8gbs of DDR2 800Mhz, a 128gb ssd, and Ubuntu. Since the case was cracked and had tons of dumb stickers from my youth I didnt feel like peeling off, I wrapped it in Ducktape and cherished it the Crapple Trashbook Pro. Since this is supposed to be a (terrible) competitor to the new Macbook, I tried to match spec where I could with memory, ssd size, but now I want to upgrade the CPU. I am told that the new macbook is a dual core clocked at 2.9Ghz(its really hard to find the exact model cuz all the real specs are drowned by Touchbar fever), Im thinking that the T-9800 would be a great poor mans version of this CPU. It has the same TDP and I've read that its compatible with a BIOS update. What do you guys think, should I go for that or try my luck with the Extreme duo series?
