Hey guys, I'm soon going to be purchasing a laptop for school and I want to make sure my current decisions is going to run Ark and other modern games for a few years. I'm thinking about the Dell XPS, and I'll list the specs below. i7-7700HQ Quad Core 16GB of DDR4 ram, up to 2400MHz Nvidia GTX 1050 I will be running everything at 1080p, and I can upgrade the RAM later. If anyone has the latest Dell XPS 15 or specs similar to those above, could you post the framerates of some modern games? Thanks.

Hi there, My laptop was being heated too much for quite a while. I thought its too old now and may be its just fine. Later I found that my laptop fan is not working. I decided to play Call of duty world at war at my Dell n3420 and as I had played black ops 1 and 2 on it comfortably, i though it would be a piece of cake but my laptop started shutting down again and again. I downloaded a few twearking softwares to find out that my laptop temperate is reaching to insane 86 degree Celsius. I found my system fan is not working at all, I download a few software that do not detect my laptop fan and CPU temperate keeps rising. So i tried to open my laptop but i just cannot remove the keyboard. I tried a lot and saw youtube videos but its just not happening. Please someone help me and give me some instructions as how I can open a laptop myself.

Hi, I am trying to seek some information on the possibility of overclocking my old T710 Dell Power-edge. It is a long retired server, and it is not used for any important or work related usage. The motherboard is a T710 01CTXG 1CTXG LGA 1366 Server Motherboard. and in it are two Intel Xeon E5540's. There is plenty of system power, two 1100 Watt redundant supplies, as well as a third 650 WATT power supply for my graphics card. I know that OC'ing on this motherboard is not really supported,. I am not concerned about warranty voiding, as the system is already well past its warranty days anyway. Are there any software overclocking utilities you would recommend? I am worried than raising the FSB would create enormous issues related to the system memory, since it is locked well and truly at 1333Mhz. Is there any possibility of any raising of the Clock? even a few hundred Mhz's would be nice. Also, I am running Windows 10 Pro, the latest BIOS version from Dell, and have the BIOS CPU profile set to high performance, node Interleaving is ON Thanks!

Hi guys! Do I just found a Dell SP2309W monitor in a antique shop (its strange antique shop) and she was selling it for $60, I managed to bargain her down to $40. The only catch is it does not have a power cable. from my previous monitor knowledge I know that I have simply swapped cords with no thought of power and never had a problem as the connector is pretty universal. But I thought I would ask with this monitor seeing as it's a expensive monitor new ($330 USD). can I just use a normal monitor power cable? ( like the cable from this monitor https://m.newegg.ca/products/1YU-00GN-00003CVF?nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwordsCA-Mobile&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwordsCA-Mobile-_-pla-_-Monitors+-+LCD+Flat+Panel-_-1YU-00GN-00003CVF&gclid=CI3htpaw4dQCFVW2wAodF3cLIQ)

Hi I want to get a new monitor for my desktop pc, config is as follows: Main uses: CAD and 3D work on Rhino 50% Illustrator and Photoshop 25% Lightroom for photo editing 25% I also play some games, nothing competitive, CS GO with friends, Overwatch and Fifa, with my 5 years old Acer TN panel @ 60Hz no problem... So I'm looking for an IPS panel for my main architecture works for image making on photoshop, it's color critical work, just not at a professional level as I'm just finishing my Architecture Master degree, and My budget caps at 200€/220€ I found that the Dell U2414H and the BenQ BL2420PT could be good options. The Benq has the advantage of having a QHD resolution for more workspace, even though I understand that my computers won't handle 1440p in gaming, I don't mind the low resolution for that. I'll be buying from an European Amazon. Thank you!!!

Hello all, I have a budget of $850 for a monitor and need some help making a choice. I am looking for either two monitors or an ultrawide. It is mainly for work - video editing - 3d modeling - fractal designing etc (although I will play some games) -- so 120hz would be nice g-sync is a plus but non essential I would prefer IPS Right now I am thinking a Dell ultrasharp I have been looking for a 2k IPS 120hz 23"-27" for $400 with a glossy screen but can't seem to find any. Thanks

Hey. I have been looking at a couple of huge 4k monitors such as LG 43UD79-B and Dell p4317Q to replace my 2x dell u2515h, both to improve productivity but also for aesthetics (yup, matters to me). Together with my Ergotech freedom Arm this should make a really decent setup. But since these monitors are relatively new, the information about (other than the manufacturer specs) is hard to find. Is there anyone who have seen these 2 monitors in action or a similar monitor? and can vouch for it. I'd love to also hear your experience with huge monitors like this. I have not tried ultra-widescreen, but i think i'd like a huge 4k screen more tbh. thanks - Toby

So i'm looking into buying a GTX 1070 and I need a monitor to pair it with. Currently, I've been gaming on a 60hz monitor and I'm a ready to feel that 144hz goodness. My only hesitation between the Dell S2417DG and the ASUS PG279Q is that the Dell is a tn panel. My current monitor is a IPS and I'm not sure if I could go back. Price vs IPS Do I take the cheaper monitor and lose out on IPS or should I pay the higher price for the IPS? If somebody who has either monitor or just knows enough about the two of them could give me some advice, I would greatly appreciate it. My main question is simply if the Dell TN panel is that atrocious that I should pony up the money for the more expensive ASUS monitor?

I bought the Dell Inspiron 15 7567 (1050 version) and indeed the screen is horrible and I wish to replace it. I know absolutely nothing about laptop screens as replacements so if someone could point arround nice IPS displays that I could put on this laptop for arround 75 USD or less? Preferably from something like best buy or amazon since there are the only places my dad trusts for buying tech lol.

Hi what a first post on the forum, but I just recently was given 2 dell poweredge R710s with 48 gbs of ram each and no hard drives I'm currently using a program called knime on my desktop quad core with 8gbs of ram to do a research project for one of my classes in school which involves image classification. I was wondering is it possible to take a 250 gb ssd with windows 10 and just stick it in one of the power edges to take advantage of the processing power and if so how can I go about doing that because at the moment my quad core can not handle the load I'm putting on it. All help is appreciated

Hello everyone and please help me. I am currently at my grandparents house and their PC won't work for some reason. I know a decent amount of pc's and built my own. Its a dell Inspirion 660 (lol ) and it won't post or something along that line. What its doing is when I press the power button it turns on just fine but then what it does Is it comes up with a loading bar thing. (whether I press del or not) After its done "loading" it goes instantly to this "DELL" Screen and stays there eternally. I think it could be a graphics problem because of the fuzzy pixels on top. I dont have any spare parts because I am away from home. I have some pics to show please any answers/suggestions would help. Thanks.

I want to get a 2560x1080 ultrawide monitor. I have narrowed down my choices to the dell U2917W And the Lg 29UM58-P. (Both are listed below.) They both have the same refresh rate, size, and have 99% sRGB color. Which one has the better image quality? That is the monitor I will most likely purchase. Thanks. Where can I find a 130w dell charger in BC?
Courtney posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Hello, I just arrived in Vancouver and I forgot my laptop charger. I need a Dell XPS 15 9550 Adapter Charger Cord 130W. I've tried some local chain stores like best buy, but they only have 90W. I've looked on Craigslist and eBay but I'm staying at a airbnb and I wasn't given the mail key so I need something I can pickup. Is there anywhere else locally I can look? Thank you, Courtney -
Hey, Everyone. I will bu posting using Tom's hardware laptop question forum since i like its format. (But i like you more) xxx 1. What is your budget? 2700 Euros, 2500 pounds2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? 14 or 15 inch3. What screen resolution do you want? 3k or 4k IPS panel with at least 100%srgb coverage4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? this will be my main machine5. How much battery life do you need? not a priority 6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low, Medium or High)? I do play games but not craving for 4k ultra gaming experience. Something like GTx 1060 is all i need7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.) Mainly I edit photos in Capture One Pro and Photoshop. Light Video editing at Premiere Pro8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need? fast M.2 slot is a must. More storage slots are always better but not a priority. 9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links. I can buy from UK or Cyprus. 10. How long do you want to keep your laptop? 4 to 5 years11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ? No need12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons. I love the Dell XPS 15 but gtx1050 feels I will need more power in a year or two. I hate very flashy gamer laptops (like Alienware). Thinner the better. Something like Gigabyte Aero 15 has good specs but too plastic, thick and ugly beyond reason. MSI Stealth series seems acceptable. New Aorus Max-Q laptop also looks cool but gtx 1080 is an overkill for me and likely will pass my 2700 euros budget.13. What country do you live in? UK/ Cyprus.14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.Although I would love to get a desktop, my current life does not make it logical. Travelling between Cyprus and UK all the time with a prospect to move Finland. As a Photographer display is the most important aspect for me, but I do game from time to time and don't want to run games at 720p low settings in 5 years. Looks kind of matter as well, I am a sucker for cool looking tech. It makes me want to use machine even more (oh my lovely Fuji xt-2).i7 processor with the prospect to upgrade 32gb ram is a must

I have a dell optiplex 7020 MT. Motherboard is this Genuine-Dell-Optiplex-7020-Motherboard-DP-N-F5C5X-LGA-1150.See this pic: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1ZxG1j27AlgMGNFZ01OS...In the pic, can I install my pciE x1 wireless adapter in the number 1 labeled black slot? And install a gtx 750 ti graphcis card on the number 5 labeled slot? I can't install the pcie x1 card on the 3 labeled because the gtx 750 ti requires two brackets, and it would take the place on the pcie x1 slot.I dont have the gtx 750 ti yet. I will still buy it. Before buying it, i tried installing the pcie x1 wireless adapter on the number 1 labeled slot. But computer would turn on, but my mouse, keyboard, monitor wouldn't. Is it becuase the number 5 slot is empty right now? So when I get my graphis card and install it in the number 5, and my wireless card in the number 1, will everything work fine?I'm sorry if i confused you a lot. Please help me. And btw i installed a 520w power supply. Will the gtx 750 ti work?

Link is here-https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2017/06/12/e3-2017-alienware-dell-announce-pc-gaming-systems-powered-windows-10/#whts4733PbPP8K0g.97 Today @E3 Alienware released some new products, including two mice, two keyboards, one monitor, and a 1080 option for the Alienware 15 R3. I love how these look and I think they're competitively priced. I personally wouldn't use them as I prefer ultrawides and I wouldn't use my Alienware laptop with it because I do most gaming on my desktop. The fact that you can get Freesync or G-Sync on them is awesome. The keyboards look decent but I personally would not use them because they use knockoff Cherry switches. The lighting looks badass, but I would like the Pro Gaming Keyboard if it was matte black. If they used Cherry MX switches, I'd be down. The mice are a bit overpriced. You can find a G502 Spectrum for around $60 that has around the same amount of customization as the Elite Gaming Mouse. -Alienware's 15" gaming notebook supporting the Max-Q mobile GTX 1080- I think it'll get really hot in there with that 7820HK and 1080, but I could be wrong. It'll be expensive for sure though.

I have a power switch connector on my motherboard I cannot remove, it's like a non-standard power switch from Dell. I applied pressure while pulling but I cannot remove it, if I remove it, I will probably risk damaging the connector/motherboard and not being able to power on the PC via a power button on any case (as I am moving the motherboard from the Dell standard case to a new case). Below is a picture of it. What the hell is it? And how will it connect to any other case switch in the future? My motherboard model is DELL 0GY6Y8. Any opinions on this, MASSIVELY appreciated.

Hey guys, I have a Dell optiplex Mini tower 3020, I bought it from my friend for £160 here in U.K, it has an i5 4570 clocked at the stock 3.20Ghz speed, no dedicated GPU, 500 Gb 7200 rpm hard drive with windows 10 pro, a single module 1600 Mhz DDR3 ram stick. I was thinking of going crazy and take a risk and possibly get a higher reward. So as we all know, or who don't know, the dell optiplex 3020 MT has a 290W psu by dell, which makes it unable to put in powerful graphics cards in it, however I was thinking of replacing it with a Corsair CP-9020097-UK VS Series ATX/EPS 80 PLUS Power Supply Unit, 550 W, which am not sure if it will fit the mini tower, if it does I will be making use of a 24 to 8 pin mother board connecter to attach the power supply to the motherboard. If it does I would want to add a great cpu called the gtx 670 from evga the FTW edition with 2GB GDDR5 memory it is a 10 inch long card and I dont know if it will fit in my case, further more I will be adding a 60 gb ssd with the brackets bought for del optiplex, another 4 gb ram stick. The main questions are: Will the chosen power supply fit as replacement for the dell 290 W power supply? Withh the Evga GTX 670 FTW fit in the Dell optiplex 3020?

I recently acquired two Dell PowerEdge 2950's that were retired Google Search Appliances. I want to use one as a dedicated home render box for rendering CAD files as well as other gpu intensive tasks. The only problem is, the main riser is a PCI-X dual slot riser instead of the more common PCI-E 8x riser. I did a bunch of digging and have come up with no solutions to mount a GPU on the PCI-E riser that don't involve either cutting the slot on the riser or cutting a slot into the card. I would prefer to use a drop in part that would allow me to mount a dual slot graphics card into the system. I couldn't find any replacement risers that are PCI-E 16x that would work. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated!

Make budget £450 (don't really wanna spend more than 400 unless it's really worth the 50) been looking for AGES and have almost decided on a dell. https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Gaming-S2716DG-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B0149QBOF0 I have a 1070 and I think I want g sync, I mostly play rpg's which makes me want IPS but I can't afford both, any advice? Which is best? Any better monitors in that price range (this dell is from American amazon as it's much cheaper) Thanks!
