I am about to press purchase for the Asus GTX 970, but I want to double check that this card will work with my motherboard. From some forums I have read, the P67 B3 chip set works with the GTX 970. I also checked on pcpartpicker and found that the GA-P67A-UD5-B3 supports the GTX 970. Will my MoBo and the GTX 970 have compatibility issues or am I safe to buy the card?

Hi guys! I have one important question (at least to me). I just ordered 1st part of my new workstation rig. It includes ASUS Z10PE-D8 WS mobo, Intel Xeon E5-2620v3 CPU, 1x16GB DDR4 ECC RAM and EVGA SuperNOVA 750W G2 PSU. For future sake compatibility can the Intel XEON E5-2620v3 work in conjunction with E5-2630v3 or higher on one mobo or I'll have to get another 2620v3 for my rig? The 2nd part of my rig will come later as my account will get another financial injection (SSD, 1-4TB HDD, 120mm AiO cooler, GTX 980 and more). Also I'm planning to do DIY case from metallic ammunition or tool box or acrylic enclosure. If I could not find consumer case that will support SSI EEB or compatible eATX case in my region. So could two different XEON 2600v3 CPUs work on one mobo? Thx a lot for comments...

I have a handful of questions, i will # them so when you answer please use those # 1) Will the [bIOSTAR TA970 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB950 SATA 6Gb/sATX AMD Motherboard UEFI BIOS] [http://goo.gl/2ubneV] work with [G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Model F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL] [http://goo.gl/NU68s1] All the information seems right but im not good with compatibility as well as some people were saying (they may just be to stupid to know) that there DDR3 1866 memory wasnt working for them in that board. I am building this for a friend and i dont want to screw this up and delay the project. 2) Which is better, the [ASUS GTX 750 TI] [http://goo.gl/fa8PcY] or the [GIGABYTE Radeon R7 260x] [http://goo.gl/1SS9UG] because i have seen benchmarks with mixed information on that so i'm not quite sure (no fanboying; I just care about performance software brand etc doesn't matter in this case (link appreciated)) 3) will the [bIOSTAR TA970 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS] [http://goo.gl/2ubneV] fit properly in the [APEVIA X-Hermes X-HERMES-GN Black/Green Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case w/ Side Window-Green] [http://goo.gl/kMOIYG] It seems like it should but im not sure 4) will the [bIOSTAR TA970 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS] [http://goo.gl/2ubneV] fit properly in the [APEVIA X-Hermes X-HERMES-GN Black/Green Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case w/ Side Window-Green] [http://goo.gl/kMOIYG] with one of the previously mentioned graphics cards, or will the 200mm fan be in the way. Some people were saying that fan is in the way and others arn't so im not sure if only big cards will be in the way. Thank you for all the help, any help is greatly appreciated

Hello there, I upgraded my setup a month ago after the advice given on this forum. These upgrades included a new GPU, PSU and mouse. I was planing on upgrading my RAM from 4GB to 16GB as well, but I'm currently unsure what to do. My specs: Case: Cooler Master Centurion RC-534-KKR5 Black PSU: Cooler Master RM850 Mobo: Asus M4A87TD/USB3 CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 (stock) with AMD (stock) cooler > going to be upgraded to a CM Hyper212 EVO (if it fits...) GPU: Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X OC RAM: GeIL DDR3-1333 4GB (2x2GB) (stock) (GE34GBB1333C9DC) Storage: 1TB WD Green 5400 RPM and for boot a Samsung Pro 840 265GB My uses: I use programs like Photoshop, InDesign, Office products and SolidWorks quite often. From time to time I play games (since recently BF3). And of course some webbrowsing. My question: So in search of a nice RAM set, I came across things like the RAM frequency and compatibility. In my motherboard manual I was able to figure out that every DIMM-slot can only handle no more than 4GB, up to a total RAM value of 16GB. It also says that it can handle up to 1600Mhz or up to 2000Mhz O.C. Now, I don't know for sure, but I assume the O.C. stands for overclocked RAM? Does this mean that if I buy a 1866 4x4gb RAM set, I have to either downclock to 1600 Mhz or somehow figure out how to get it to 1866Mhz (which I don't know how to). Also, at none of the QVL mentioned RAM-sticks, it says 16GB. Just 12GB max. Does that mean anything? The motherboard manual can be viewed online here: click For a more recent QVL: click Also, the CPU comes in to play. I don't know what my CPU can handle, but I've been reading in this topic (starting at post #26) that the CPU should be able to handle 1866Mhz. Also, that the C2 revision of my CPU can't handle 4 RAM-sticks and the C3 revision can. The program 'Speccy' says that my CPU revision is: RB-C3, so according to that topic my CPU should be capable of handling 4 RAM-sticks. As you might have noticed, I have no idea what to look - or look out for. I had the CMZ16GX3M4X1866C9 in mind, but that one is not mentioned in the QVL in the manual. Can someone help me with selecting the right RAM that works with both my motherboard and my CPU, at 1866 frequency at 4X4GB? This might be a bit of work asking from you guys, but I'm not that confident with myself in picking out the right RAM. Please note: I do know where to look in the BIOS for the RAM settings, but I've never overclocked anything, ever. If it turns out that I have to do a lot of manual tweaking in order to run the 1866Mhz properly, and the 1600Mhz does not require that, the option to go for the 1600Mhz is something I'm willing to do. Thanks in advance, jb P.S. If this topic belongs in the 'CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory' section, I do apologize and shall delete this topic and re-thread it there.

Hi all, I was asked by my cousins who live out of town to build a gaming PC for them - (they're upgrading from something from 2006!) I bought a R9 280 (Price was right + the 3 free games.) and a i3 4360 since the games they mentioned they want to play include titles like StarCraft II, Diablo III, etc. The 4360 has a frequency of 3.7 GHz which I believe is the second-highest clocked i3 chip, behind the 4370. The system will be on Win 8.1 with 8 gigs of RAM. I think the CPU and GPU ought to be a good pairing, but I thought I'd ask LTT if there would be, in any way, a bottleneck. Thanks for reading.

I've been searching the depths of the web for the past day or so in effort to find out if the P9X79-e WS is compatible with my Obsidian 750d from Corsair, considering I had already purchased both. The reason for concern was that PC Part Picker says otherwise: Link to build: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/LC4TFT I posted here on the forum asking and just like the rest of the web there were mixed opinions. I'm posting this here so that people that are thinking of buying these two in the future, will know the final answer to this debate. The motherboard arrived this morning in the mail and all I can say is... IT FITS. Not just that, but it does so, perfectly. The 750d supports XL-ATX and as predicted the standoffs are in the same positions. The front panel connectors from the case fit will all the sockets on the board, and of course the fan headers also connect, no problem. The Obsidian series cases are just so sleek in my opinion and I needed a WS class motherboard, and this one is perfect. @Pugs501 @mvitkun @JuTheBarbarian EDIT ** Ignore my cable management, am literally just testing here.

I'll be building myself a PC for the first time and I'd like to know what you guys think about my choice of parts and if there are any compatibility issues. I took time to check the compatibility and I used pcpartpicker but just in case I missed something please let me know. CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 65.0 CFM Mobo: Asus Z97-WS GPU: EVGA GTX 980 RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 PSU: Corsair 760W Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD & Toshiba 2TB HDD Case: NZXT Phantom 410 Full list of parts: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/TQ/saved/LyGhP6 Total Cost ~ $2400 In choosing the part I tried to get the best bang for the buck as the brands I choose have a good a history, consistency and offer long warrantees. This is a gaming/editing build and I don’t want it to be too loud. I choose some high performance parts because I want to avoid overclocking.

Need help, won a r9 285 GPU from an event bbut it seems to have compatibility issues with gigabyte mothers, im using the Gigabyte 990FXA-UD7 AM3+ motherboard, the card works perfectly in another PC, and my old 7970's work perfectly in both machines, this is the second 285 ive had now, the first one had the same issues at the start and I got a new one because that one seemed faulty, so Im hoping the same thing doesnt happen with this... On my first card the Splash screen was all messed up with colorful blocks and such, one of the fans stopped spinning (spun when computer turned on than after splash screen or so it turns off) and when I turn my monitor off the windows get smaller as if the resolution changed while the monitor was off. With the new card I'm just having the motherboard splash screen problems, heres a picture... though its very bad because I took it from my monitor, just trust me that the blocks you see are colorful. Please help, tried updating drivers over and over again but nothing seems to work, works perfectly on other PC but not on gigabyte MoBo. File is too big so heres a link to the image: http://puu.sh/bUC5X/9844035d7f.jpg (Image of what the Motherboard Splash Screen Image looks like with the r9 285 Cards) the card is the SAPPHIRE DUAL-X R9 285

Hey everyone, I plan to build a PC with a decent mid range spec. I have purchased the following: Intel DZ68BC motherboard Intel core i5-3550 processor Kingston Hyperx Fury 2x8GB 1866Mhz RAM Sapphire Radeon R9270X 2GB graphics card When I plug everything together and try turning it system on, I get 3 beeps-about 2 to 2.5 seconds break-3 beeps again. This issue continues. I don't get any display on the monitor. The motherboard shows an error code 15. I tried to look for a solution on the internet and the closest I found is that it must the memory frequency of the RAM. The core i5-3550 has a memory frequency of 1333/1600Mhz. Could this be the problem, that they aren't compatible with each other? Do I need to get a better, more powerful processor? Do I need to get a lesser powered RAM or could I manually pull the memory frequency down? Or do I need to do something else entirely? I really appreciate you guys taking the time to read this. I'm new to computer stuff like these and I'm really excited to learn more. I hope to get my first ever PC build fixed as soon as I can. Waiting for a bullet response. Thank you very much. I am fairly new to pc building. I currently have an alien ware x51 r2 and u want to upgrade pc but cant upgrade the x51 because of its small form factor design. I plan to remove the CPU, GPU, RAM, and HDD and use them in the new build; and get a new motherboard (one inside the x51 is not transferable), PSU (standard one that comes with the x51 is non-transferable), Case (x51 case is the problem), new CPU cooler, and get an SSD for some speed. Parts i have: CPU: i7 4770k GPU: GTX 670 RAM: 8gb DDR3 HDD: 2Tb western digital Parts i am looking at: Case: corsair air 240 Motherboard: Gigabyte G1.SNIPER M5 PSU: corsair CMX 600w modular SSD: Samsung 840 120gb CPU Cooler: Corsair 120mm H80i Can i Have some advice please on weather I have got the right parts and weather they are compatible with one and other.

Hi guys, I built my system in June last year, so roughly a year ago. Since then, what I require from it has changed quite a bit, using it more and more as a work PC first and a gaming pc second, and it's getting harder and harder to get by with the 8 gigs of ram I got for it back when I built it. After doing a quick check, though, I realized that Corsair no longer produces the exact type of memory that I originally put in. The model number of the RAM currently in the system is CMD8GX3M2A2133C9, which runs at 2133MHz, with timings of 9-11-10-30 at 1.5V. The closest I could find was CMD8GX3M2B2133C9, which seems to be the updated (though not upgraded) version of this SKU, also running at 2133MHz, but this time with timings of 9-11-11-31 at 1.65V. Because of the difference in timings and voltage, I've been recommended to try and sell off my current memory, and try to find a new 16gb set to replace it with. If you guys think I should be able to pull off the difference in timings and voltage though, let me know! So I went out to have a look at what memory I could get my hands on locally, and came up with these options: Corsair CMY32GX3M4A2133C11: 32gb of 2133MHz RAM, CL11 11-11-27 at 1,65V (329 eur) Kingston KHX16C9T3K4/32X: 32gb of 1600MHz RAM, CL9 9-9-27 at 1,5V (304 eur) Corsair CMY16GX3M2A2133C11: 16gb of 2133MHz RAM, CL11 11-11-27 at 1,5V (180 eur) Kingston KHX16C9T3K2/16X: 16gb of 1600MHz RAM, CL9 9-9-27 at 1,5V (148 eur) First off, I'd like to say that if you have any other suggestions, please let me know! If there's any good options out there that I missed, I'd be happy to see if I can get my hands on them over here. As you can see, though, I'm in a bit of a dilemma here. First of all, going with higher frequency RAM doesn't really increase the cost dramatically, but it does come with looser timings. Wether I'd benefit more from the tighter timings or the increased frequency, I'm really not sure. The software I'm using is proprietary, so as far as I know there's really no easy way to tell without a side-by-side comparison... Secondly, I'm tempted to go for 32gb straight away, even if it probably doesn't get fully used with the way I'm using my system now, I just want to prevent being in the exact same situation X amount of time down the road, where I need more RAM capacity, but am unable to find the same SKU since they stopped making it. However, that does mean paying around double what 16gb would cost me, for something that may not be used (straight away).

Right now, I'm just making a list of lower end motherboards that'll work with the 4670k straight out of the box without needing to use another haswell CPU to update, so please, let's not go on a "This motherboard's better" rampage this thread. Thank you Motherboard: ECS B85H3-M3 (V1.0) I looked on their website and it says the 4670k was supported in the 6/10/2013 BIOS update, but I don't know much about motherboards so I don't know if you'd need to update it or if it comes with that update. Any help on this would be appreciated.

I have been looking into getting a new case for my PC, and I was wondering if it is compatible with the cooler I also want. The case is the Enermax Coenus, and the cooler is the Corsair H100i. I have looked over the case and cooler many, many times and it appears to be large enough to fit the radiator at the top. I'll post links to the products where someone who might know more than I can look over them. Hey guys! So my friend has an Hp Pavilion HPE H8-1114 desktop pc and wanted a graphics upgrade from the gt520. He went and bought a 430 watt and a 750 without asking me and asked for me to install it. At first I thought it might work, but i was a little skeptical. As I installed it i put in the psu and kept the old gt 520 in there and it worked perfectly. Then, i put the 750 in and it went to the hp load screen and it said "press esc to go to setup" etc. and then i got the beeps. 1 followed by 3 fast beeps. I called evga and hp and the support wasnt helpful at all and i think that the newer 750 isnit compatible with the mb. I updated the bios from the hp sitwe and it still didnt work, but i noticed the bios were last updated on feb 6th 2012. 2 years behind so im guessing that its a compatibility issue and im thinking of just getting him a 550ti 1gb because another friend has the same pc and got the 550ti and it works like a charm. any thoughts? thnx guys!
