Hi, After purchasing a smartphone. I felt I hadn´t done enough research. I found some pages to compare between smartphone-models and brands, but I´m still unsure if those are the best pages to analyze and compare or they are filled with just information based on comercial purposes (infomercials). What pages do u use to compare between models? p.s: When buying smartphones on internet. Which one do u use?

so i am thinking about getting the Razer Phone, not entirely sure why it appeals to me but it does. my only issue is the camera. i am a constant photographer basically everywhere i go, and would like to make sure that the camera is on par with the other mainstream phones on the market. my main concern so far is that underneath the showcase of the camera it says: "screen image is simulated" ...is it that bad?... my main questions: does it have good software, ie; portrait mode/DOF how is it for far away use does it have any forms of pano-mode like the iphone i currently own an iphone 7+, and i have a hunch this would be a serious downgrade camera wise... unless i buy it separately, dont even ask why. Thoughts? -Acrain7

Hey all! I'm looking for a bit of help comparing the power of a couple builds. Below are two builds I've parted out (both essentially the same except for the CPU/GPU configuration). I have low hopes for Coffee Lake being any kind of affordable and have decided not to wait. I do mainly video editing (maximum 3 shots at a time at 1080p 60fps + WAV audio track), medium to heavy audio production work, and gaming. I'm sure in terms of scrubbing the time line in video editing and plugin capacity in audio production software, both builds would be perfectly capable for what I need. I'm most interested in achieving 144hz refresh rate 1080p gaming in open world MMO's/RPG's like World of Warcraft, Skyrim and Rift. Which of these would probably have the most success doing so? Of course the benefit of the Ryzen 5 build is that there is more of an upgrade path since I can't really rely on SLI, especially with a GTX1060. Also if there are any things I should think about changing, I'd love some other feedback. Thanks! https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TdB9kT https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kdKM9W

Buy LG 43UD79-B on Amazon: http://geni.us/IATog This 43" monitor from LG is absolutely HUGE- but what's the difference between a big monitor and a TV? And what should you buy?

Is it worth getting an m.2 storage device over an SSD if my budget can afford it? I have all the parts picked out but have about $8 left that I could use.

Hey guys! I went to a tech server on Discord, and then i said i thought single channel RAM is as useful as dual channel for gaming purposes... When everyone started to insult me and call me dumb... Anyway, i went to Youtube to search, and all i've found was some comparison videos where as far as what i noticed, the difference between 1x8Gb VS 2x4Gb was almost if not completely null in more than 8 games. Then i searched and some ppl said it helped the CPU A LOT but i didn't find that much evidence, only a slight performance improvement for editing softwares and all. So, which one is better for gaming? Also, is there anything where dual channeling humilliates single or not? And i have an extra question: I bought an 8Gb stick a long time ago bcs i wasn't paying much attention to RAM so i didn't bother buying a kit, but now i kinda want to upgrade it for literally no reason. Did i mess up? Do i have to buy a kit or can i just buy another equal 8Gb stick, put it on the slot and proceed to use 16Gb "dual channel" just fine?

I will be comparing these PC's (via UserBenchmark) just as a way to possibly demonstrate how current purchases may hold up in 2022. In general terms: 8GB RAM, costs $10 more today, but DDR4 is faster. The optical drive is obsolete, so that's $20+ saved. SSD and HDD storage are half the price. A motherboard is a motherboard. A case is largely an aesthetic matter. Power supply and coolers haven't changed much. Graphics cards have retained their value due to the mining boom, but I'll be strictly comparing performance. i5-3570k is 1% more powerful than the Ryzen 3 1300x (for $115) GTX 670 is 1% more powerful than the GTX 1050 Ti (for $150) Overall, a build like this would cost ~$620 to build today. (It's held about 59% of its value) The i7-3770k is somewhere between Ryzen 5 1400 and Ryzen 5 1600 ($170 as an average) I'm not sure how to directly compare the GPU. The HD 7970 is 20% more powerful than a GTX 1050 Ti but 40% less powerful than a GTX 1060 (3GB). I'll average that out to $180 and double that to $360 since there's two of them. If there's a more effective metric, do let me know. -$85 (SSD), -$20 (HDD), -$80 (Optical), +$10 (RAM) Overall, a build like this would cost $1150 today (It held about 60% of its value) Overall In both cases, the overall depreciation rate was the same (40%). A $3000 build would have a higher depreciation rate, but apparently, the law of diminished returns did not apply to a $2000 budget. The $1000 build would be a good mid-range PC today. The $2000 build would be a mid-high build. However, there's also the factor of upgrades. Assuming I built that $1000 PC in 2012 and I have that extra saved $1000, there's a lot more I can do. I could sell the PC (for $500-600) and build a new one for $1500-1600. Or, I could upgrade: GTX 1080 ($550), another 8gb DDR3 stick of RAM ($60), 3TB HDD ($75), 500 GB SSD ($150). Not even including selling the old parts to upgrade it, the $1000 PC with $900 upgrades ends up no worse than the $2000 PC. In general, the Power Supply, Cooler and Case do not need an upgrade. So, as a result, spend enough money on ones which you'll be happy to own for a long time, but also don't feel the need to spend a ton of money to future proof them. Video cards age the most so it may just be better to go with midrange. In the storage department, it seems to halve in price every 5 years, but you only need so much storage.

Hey Guys, I am building my brother a new PC for his graduation from basic training and I have just about everything pieced together. The only problem I am coming up with is to go with the MSI B350 PC Mate VS the Tomahawk. Besides the differences is visuals and capacitors can anybody else tell me if one has any advantages over the other? I have spent a few days analyzing posts and specs from various websites and the two differences I have mentioned are the only things I can find.

Guys, let's make a scenario here. Someone wants to make a decent gaming rig, but doesn't have plenty of knowledge (if at all) about CPUs. Tge person decides to spent half their money on a GTX 1060 for gpu, and some other pieces, now the person only needs a CPU (And let's say the person buys a motherboard that is compatible with the same) Then let's say the person has two choices: The AMD A-10 7850k OR the Intel i3 4150. Would there be ANY advantage on choosing the I3 over the A10? And if we don't count the cores, any advantage on using the A10? Just wondering

I'm a complete noob, but I'm interested in learning how to compare CPUs So what I've heard from a bunch of friends is that the R5 1600x is a better value CPU at $339.00 CAD. It's a better product for overall gaming, creative content, rendering etc. I was just looking at Ryzen CPUs vs i5 CPUs and I came across the i5 7640x ($345.00 CAD) and the i5-7600k ($335.00 CAD). My initial comparison of the specs showed that the i5 processors run at a better frequency and boost, while sporting slightly higher TDPs, and the only real edge the R5 1600x has; is the higher cache at 16mb. From my experience of overhearing comments about Intel vs AMD in the past, I've basically developed a rule of thumb stating that if you have enough money and budget isn't a problem, the Intel CPU is always the better, premium buy. However, if you're on a budget then looking at a counter AMD CPU might be the better option because of the lower cost. Now I don't know if this is right, but I've still heard a couple tech-reviewers mention this. So... why not just by the i5 7640x or 7600k? Basically the same price as the R5 1600x. How is the R5 1600x still relevant? Is it that the sheer number of cores allows the CPUs to be better at multi-tasking? Is this now just a problem of gaming (i5) vs content creation (R5)? If you get some time, help me out to understand what the benefits of the R5 1600x would be over these i5s. Thanks! Riqsha

So i am going to build my first computer and I'm wondering if the 7700k still heavily beats the 1700 in gaming or if the optimizations that were said to be coming narrowed or even removed the gap. I'm also wondering if the 1700 will be more "future proof" because it has more cores since I won't be upgradeing within a few years.

I'd like to start up a comparison website (like a shop I suppose.) that would allow you to combine two products to see if they are compatible. (for free if possible.) I would like it to be able to be updated constantly through spreadsheets of data. Any website builders capable of doing these things? I have done some research, showing that there are templates that you can get for Wordpress as an example, although they are not cheap. I was originally looking at an article by econsultancy.com, called "How to build your own price comparison API in 30 minutes with no code". Any ideas?

Hey LTT community I was wondering about the differences between the CooloerMaster MasterCase Pro 5 and the MasterCase Maker 5. A friend of mine is offering to sell he his Pro 5 in good condition for a very good price. Is it worth getting it from him or just saving for the Maker? Aside from the table CM list on their site here, like what it's like to build in them, small things that make you prefer the one over the other. So if you're someone who owns or has owned, built in or had any experience with either case, please post it, really wanna know. PS: I have a Nepton 280L AIO (280mm radiator), will this fit in either case easily? And thoughts on custom loop potential for each case.

Hey guys, I was in a dilemma between whether to get an i7 6700k or an i7 6850k. I have never built a computer, but as an engineering student, I will probably use it more for things like CAD and Solidworks and Photoshop than gaming. But thats not to say that I won't be gaming, I WILL MOST DEFINITELY be. Now Ill be getting them for about the same price (+$80 CAD for the 6850k). Which should I get? Should I try to get the over-powered for my needs 6850K or get the batter gamer 6700k? How much more do you think id spend on the required motherboard and other components for the 6850K as compared to the 6700k. Please let me know!

Question: AMD FX-4350 vs. Intel Core i5-6500
Joiner posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hi guys, I want to build my first PC so I started with choosing the CPU. But now I got to a problem where google can´t help me When I compared the AMD FX-4350 (or other AMD´s) with the Intel Core i5-6500 it seemed like the AMD was better than the intel but costs like 100$ less! What am I missing here? Looking forward to replies! -Joiner- 22 replies

Sup folks, I've got a Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ITX case with a pre-installed badass 200mm fan in the front. Although I like the looks (looks like a frigging prop-plane about to take off), I was wondering how it would compare to a pair of 140's. They'll be intake with one 120mm exhaust out the back, one dual 120mm radiator (so 1 radiator with 2 120mm fans) set for push-exhaust out the top. 200mm VS 2×140mm.... FIGHT! Thanks in advance, Regards, TJ

Watching recently an old video from linus tech tips I felt the need to make a topic about how useless overclocking a graphics card is..... As you can see in the video (and in any video out there about OCing and playing games) the difference between the reference design and the top of the top classified design in games is like 3 FPS... even if you overclock the classified design the difference with the stock reference design wont be more than like ~10 FPS... and thats without mentioning that the reference design can be OCed as well and so the already small gap between the reference design and the "SUPER OC CUSTOM PCB" design shrinks even more.... So why to encourage people buy those stupid money wasters? getting 70 FPS instead of 66 FPS in a games is like a ZERO practical difference on your everyday gaming.... OC in cards got to become a price changer because of how things used to be in the past.... I remember when I had my Geforce 4200 ti and OCed games that I previously struggled to play with (because they run at lets say 20-25 FPS) after the OC run smooth on a solid 40+ FPS!!!! and yea that was a gain babe!!! and OC became a thing... Games used to be more clock speed bound back then... But today OC is just an illusion.... the reference model has a very good frame rate for all the games of its generation and the super duper custom PCB models from any brand offer only a 1 to 5 FPS difference.. but asking atleast 100$ more than the reference.... Its just a marketing gig nowadays and we shouldn't support it. Also linus should take the heat and make a video declaring that OC is just a nice market for those that just are into benchmark competitions and that for all the gamers out there it doesnt mean anything anymore. =================================================== EDIT: To avoid misunderstanding by "reference" I mean the basic model without OC and without any extra labaling on the box like "SC/OC/FTW" etc It doesnt have to be the stock cooler design from nvidia it only has to cost as much as the stock nvidia offer.
