So I don't know what to do, in February, after hearing on even more delays with Ryzen, I decided to finally pull the plug and upgrade. Getting a 6600K (on sale for $180) and a Z270 after being told that intel's Coffee Lake would be compatible. Welp, after Ryzen came out literally 4 days after I got my new chip, I saw the gaming benchmarks and was okay with having a little less performance while streaming and video editing. However, now that Coffee Lake is out, amazing at overclocking, and great in both gaming and streaming/video editing. I don't know what to do, should I just stick with my 6600K and maybe upgrade to a 7700K later on if they come down in price? or try to sell off my current setup for a Z370 and an 8th gen i5 or i7, I only have ~$100 CAD to spend so. I still cannot believe I made such a stupid decision when it came to CPU and motherboard buying.

I am preparing to build a system, and I don't want to pass anything up, however I do have a strict budget, that takes into account the prices of the 8700k and z370 mobo. I don't care that the case is garbage, because it won't affect anything. I want everyone that sees this to comment on if they think there are any glaring flaws in this build. The power supply and graphics card are from https://www.evga.com/products/productlist.aspx?type=8. I cannot afford an ssd right now, but I will add one in the near future, and this build will be for VR gaming, specifically Project Cars 2. Please don't say "Ryzen", or "not 1080ti". Pcpartpicker: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Otterman366/saved/q8sqsY Edit: you can make the 650w evga a corsair cxm 550

So I'm planning on building with coffee lake when it comes out, and I noticed that this ram https://pcpartpicker.com/product/GXbkcf/patriot-memory-psd44g240081 has excellent price to performance, if I were to buy 4 of those, could I run them in dual channel?

It's a sad day for Ryzen fans today.

I was originally planning on buying the i5 7600k 4 core Kaby lake, but I am leaning towards the i5 8600k 6 core Coffee lake instead. I will get the Corsair h100i v2 in push-pull, and I was wondering how how far i should go when overclocking. Sorry if it's a stupid question, I've never overclocked anything more than 4 cores. Rest of the main components: -gtx 1070 -8gb ddr4 2400 RAM -750w psu (I know its overkill, i got a really good price) -Asus ROG Strix z270H mobo

Ok, so I'm about to head to my local store to cancel my order on the 8700k (for now). I'm gonna let it settle for a bit and have Intel have more stock and have the prices go down (maybe). The prices for the motherboards are bloody ridiculous along with the processor itself. rushed launch for sure. Aaaaaaanyways, back to the topic. I'm gonna be going for a Ryzen build for now but will go for the 8700k later down the road. Here's what I configured: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 1600X 3.6GHz 6-Core Processor (£184.95 @ Aria PC) CPU Cooler: Noctua - NH-D15S 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler (£68.73 @ Eclipse Computers) Motherboard: Asus - PRIME X370-PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard (£135.72 @ Amazon UK) Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory (£148.79 @ Aria PC) Total: £538.19 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2017-10-06 11:47 BST+0100 I will be OCing to 4Ghz, but I'm not sure whether to go for a 1600 or 1600x... the price between them isn't that huge. Should I go for a B350 board instead since I won't be using SLI anyway? (I'm planning on having just a 1080Ti) Should I get the Ripjaws V or keep the Corsair Vengeance LPX? Thanks in advance, Sean.

When will budget 300 series motherboards come out? It makes no sense to buy a pretty expensive z370 for i3-8100.. We need something like h110m ( skylake and kabylake budget mobos )..

So I figured I'd jump on here and ask for some input. I'm currently running an intel i5 4670 (non k) with a GTX 1070 and 16GBs of RAM for 2k gaming set up. I'm throwing around the idea of upgrading to an 8600k or 8400 obviously along with the Z370 board and some DDR4. Do you guys and gals think 4 years is too soon to update CPU/MOBO?

Im building my first PC soon and when it comes to processors, I honestly have no clue. I have done my research and visited a local micro center for help. I would say im leaning more towards Intel due to the fact the I haven't heard of AMD till recently (console player previously). With my first build, does it benefit me going with an i7 7700k or the new i7 8600k/i5 8600k? Also, i have never overclocked and don't know how to but im sure I can learn or have people help me. I plan to use my PC for games like Overwatch, Rocket league, H1Z1, PUBG, Star Wars, BF1 and maybe some streaming. Hopefully someone can narrow things down or give me some more insight! thanks in advance.

I am building a New PC for the first time and I heard that Coffee Lake might be releasing Next Month. Now i was gonna go the Ryzen 3 1200 & 1050 TI route and save money but will it be worth to wait for coffee lake next month? A good benefit would be that I can save up enough for a 1070 or 1080 once coffee lake releases but i'm still having a hard time deciding

This version of Skylake could be expensive, it looked like intel will keep the prices at least within the same levels as with Kaby Lake. Basically, with Coffee Lake you could pay nearly as much for 6/6 CPU as for 8/16 CPU. 8700K has a ton of performance but it could be close to 7800X/1900X pricewise. 420 euros is approximately USD500 (pure currency conversion). Edit: If this is true (Most likely not), the US price would be maximally 430-450USD. The european taxes are way higher than US. I have enough money to buy a Pentium g4560 rig but I could reach out for a i3 processor..... since coffeelake is around the corner ...there is no reason to buy kabylake i3 7100. Benefits-- pentium 1. best budget cpu and since I am not buying the GPU with the build as I have a VGA monitor 2.It will save my money to buy a gpu and monitor later. it will not stress on my wallet. 3. with i3 8100 I will have to wait long for my money to build up for the gpu and monitor 4.Plus the release date is next month think but don't know specified date.... I am afraid intel g4560 might not be available at that time...if I think the price of i3 8th gen is more than i expected in my country coffeelake(8100) 1.although g4560 best budget cpu it might not be a good option to buy it as intel offering quad cores at a cheap price (i3's price) and yes i3 8100 is the target . So I am confused about which one should I go....? In addition 1. tell me the actual release date of coffee lake 2.what is the price of i3-8100 and 8300? 3.any information about coffee lake Pentium?

So I am trying to build a new 2K gaming pc. I am choosing to wait for the new coffee lake processor as well as the new motherboards to go with it because I figured why not. So I need a full build that includes an ultra wide monitor preferably, but a regular 2k monitor will work too. I haven't had any luck finding a new 300 series motherboard, I guess they haven't been released yet with the new Intel coffee lake processor. Anyway, I am not sure what my budget for this build is, but as long as it can run AAA titles with a decent refresh rate, it's fine with me. Now if the PC can also run quiet with an air cooled set up, that'd be a great bonus for me. I play on playing a lot of Destiny 2 specifically, along with many other fps games. Thanks for your help. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

CaseKing are working with Der8auer to offer pre-binned coffee lake CPUs which have been de-lidded and new TIM applied with guaranteed overclocks of between 5.0 - 5.2 GHz. They have replaced the stock Tim with Thermal Grizzly and also offer variants with custom heat spreaders which have been re machined or are made with new materials such as their 99.9% silver version. All of the improved versions come custom laser etched with either Caseking's or Der8auer's logo. On the downside these CPU's command a hefty price premium of between € 580 - 900. Would you be willing to pay over the odds for a guaranteed overclock? My current rig is a Core i7-4770K overclocked to 4.6GHz and a 980 Ti. I mainly use it for gaming (Diablo 3, PUBG, CODWW2, Shadows of War) and Photoshop CC 2017 work. I am debating if I should wait for Ice Lake and the GTX 2080 to come out or should I go with Coffee Lake and 1080 now? My am interested in getting 960 EVO m.2 drive as I know this should boost performance over my current 850 EVO SSD. Thoughts?

So I was going through the Online shop websites when I stumble upon this Gem (link below) and saw it had the INTEL I7 8700HQ and then went back to the INTEL page and saw that they don't mention nothing about the the 8700HQ and I can't find anything else about it I imagine more powerful gaming laptops are around the corner. I've been thinking about the Razer blade 14. Also I didn't find wether this cpu has 6 or 4 cores I speculate it might have 6 core but if you guys find anything mind leaving it on this post P.S just saw Razer put NEW in red color box on there website for the Razer blade which is wasn't there yesterday. also mis has there gs63vr saying NEW but the link is broken. https://www.mobileadvance.com/msi-vortex-g25-022us-vr-ready-i7-8700hq-gtx1070-16gb-memory-256gb-ssd-1tb-hdd-win-10-pro/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvaS48K701gIV17bACh02lAnNEAQYASABEgLlC_D_BwE

So I'm wondering which motherboard I should choose for the new coffee lake processors. I'm getting the i5 8400 so at the moment, I might upgrade later, I won't need to do much overclocking and I'm mostly going to use wifi so I'm probably going to get an adapter if I don't use a motherboard. Last, I think that I might upgrade to a 1070 later and might use SLI so that might be nice. Overall, the motherboards I'm thinking of are this 1: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813145040&ignorebbr=1 2:https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813144109&ignorebbr=1 3: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813144108&ignorebbr=1 Thanks for the help!

Initially chose to go with an i5 8600K mostly for gaming and little productivity. I stupidly bought the motherboard (~150€) and now I hear about months long waiting times. I do not which to wait for after 15th November, sooner is better as I hardly have à gaming capable rig right now Choices are: r5 1600X or i7 7700k (both with new motherboard, saving the one I have for later upgrade) or wait and hope thx for answers or suggestions. Edit: for info I live in France right now with possible trip to Atlanta soon

Hi, Im looking to upgrade my current pc's cpu to either an i5 8400, 8600k or maybe even Ryzen because i'm going to have to change my motherboard either way since i'm currently on Haswell. What would be the best choice to match my GTX 1070 since in cpu intensive games like hitman, which severely bottlenecks my GPU, it is only at 40-50% usage on some levels. Also when will the cheaper, non-overclockable motherboards for coffee lake be out?

Looking to upgrade that rig of yours to the newest generation of Intel cpus? Well, you may be to wait a bit. Due to the high demand (specifically for the "K" series chips) of the processors, e-retailers and brick and mortar stores have found there shelves "decaffed" of Intel's newest flagship. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/intel-coffee-lake-shortage-cpu,35632.html When reached out to for comment on the shortages, Intel responded: "The 8th Gen Intel Core desktop processors and systems are on sale globally. We’re actively working with our retailers to fulfill strong interest from customers on the i7-8700k SKU." As for the shortage of non-K SKUs, Intel is looking into the matter and should have a response soon, according to the above article from "Tom's Hardware". Enjoy the read!
