Hey so I had a question regarding video sharpness in mirrorless and DSLR cameras. I'm almost ready to pull the gun on a Sony A7rii with a Zeiss FF lense. But I was curious with Canon cameras especially the Canon 80d, if I went with a EF L lense, how sharper would video be instead of using the kit lense or a inferior lense to the EF L. I was just wondering if video on the 80D would look much crisper and sharper if someone went with the professional grade L Canon lenses. I guess I do know the L lense will look sharper, but how much sharper will video look going with the L lense rather than a kit or cheaper lense. any help would be awesome! thanks!

So i'm planning to buy my first camera, purpose is to create travel video blog for youtube and take still at the same to upload on instagram so more likely 50/50. Budget will be $1000 USD my choices are canon 80d and sony a6300. The only thing that hold me back for canon 80d is that it can't shoot slow motion at 120fps while on sony a6300 it doesn't have touch auto focus. Articulating screen is not a big deal to me same with the battery cause i can buy extra in the future. For now i will use kit lens then buy new one for all around lens budget will be $400 in the future. Can anyone enlighten me what should i choose slow motion or touch auto focus or maybe wait until i can get sony a6500 by december? Thanks guys!

I always hear people talking about the "thrifty fifty", "nifty fifty", or the "plastic fantastic". Canons legendary 50mm f1.8. But I've never heard much mention of the 24mm f2.8 which is on $150. Maybe because it doesn't work on full frame? But either way people say it's a sharp lens and what not and I want somethings that's wider than a 50 on a crop sensor. So what's the deal with it who has tried it. I just don't get why it's not raved about like the 50mm f1.8 is.

I will be using it for mainly Video but I would like some advice. Thanks Guys!

I recorded a video on my canon eos rebel sl1. It recorded in 1080p. I edited and exported in vsdc in 1080p. I uploaded it to YouTube in 1080p. For some reason when you watch the video, it is in 360p and looks bad. I have no idea what happened. Does anybody know? Maybe I'm just a newbie. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Just one question to ask, I have a desktop connected to a wireless router via ethernet cable. I also have an all in one printer (Canon MP568) which has built in WiFi. Can I scan documents on the printer wirelessly from the desktop. The desktop does not have wireless though.

I recently bought my Canon Vixia hf r600 and a SanDisk Extreme Plus MicroSDHC UHS-I card yet I keep receiving Memory card errors while recording the card claims to have a 90 MB/s write speed. Is something wrong with my Camera? or the card. It should be noted I bought the camera Refurbished directly from the Canon Website. Please help and thank you!

So I saw some cinematic and regular footage from Nikon D3300 on YouTube, and to be honest, Mikayla Not Impressed. (No, I'm not named Mikayla). The cameras seemed to focus on some narrow plane in the video, maybe changing gradually and all, but most of the video was blurred out of focus and this REALLY hurts my brain to have to force it to interpret that video information. I want a Low or Mid-End DSLR (or even a power shot, if those exist) equipped in such a way that this problem does not occur. I saw some Nikon D5100 footage and it was MUCH BETTER in terms of cinematic focus - most objects in the scene were detailed and not out of focus. Which I want. Any ideas? Specifically I am okay with PowerShot Cameras - the Sony RX100 III actually seems quite nice to me as strictly a camera for video and photos alone - but I am sort of bummed out at the lack of an external microphone input. So is there one for under 1K that supports external microphones AND shoot 1080 at 24fps (and preferably also able to do so at 60, 50, and 30 fps as well)? So naturally I prefer DSLR cameras with their better lenses and all - but I want one with an external mic input (where you can get an external stereo microphone to pop on the top of it or clip onto yourself). I mean the Canon T5i looks pretty good, but it didn't receive as high a score as the Nikon D3300 on Dxomark. The D3300's video seemed to have the focus problems I mentioned, but those seemed to go away in footage videos (on YouTube) with the D5100; I don't know if this was due to a better Lens or some settings tweaks or just the fact that it has better image processing. I'm pretty new to photography so if someone could explain these things, that'd be great. Also, I plan to get the camera to start up a YouTube channel for reviewing and tech, and maybe a channel for bike guides. Which I probably won't be able to get from my own money, I'll have to make crowdfunding campaigns for it - so naturally, the price appeal of something under 1000 dollars (including with accessories like tripods, batteries, chargers, SD cards, cables, microphones) will work best for those viewing the campaign. So I guess the main question is - were those setting tweaks, the lens, or the camera's internal hardware that caused those focus blurs in so many of the cinematic footage tests for the Nikon D3300 that I see on YouTube (the video about Toronto is an example)? Thanks.

Hey folks! I've been trying to talk myself into buying a new camera for some time now. I really wanted 4K RAW but for anything like that I'd be spending more than $6,000.I don't have that kind of money right now and it'd be a while before I did. What I've decided to do is get a C100 and use that to earn the money for a cinema camera that I can shoot 4K RAW with. I'm trying to choose between the C100 or the C100 MK2. If I got the MK2 it'd be used for sure because I'd still need to buy a recorder/monitor and other accessories. I'm okay with a MK1 new because it's only 2400 after tax and that's the ceiling for my budget. I keep finding used MK1's around me but no MK2's. If I go used, I prefer to buy locally so I can test it and all that, I have a short film coming up in october so I plan on making my purchase here in the coming weeks. Any advice from C100 OR cinema camera owners is appreciated!

I am currently do a photography and editing class for my high school and I going to use one of these cameras for the rest off the year they both are in the same price range and they are bundled with different thing but necessities like lens, tripods, Class 10 sd cards, rechargeable batteries but I was wondering which is better for film and photography and if the 100 dollar price jump from the T5i to the T6i is worth it. Thanks

camera lens Can I use a canon D90 lens on a 60D
ahmedhara posted a topic in Photography and Videography
I currently have a Nikon D90 (yes, I am aware that it's an old camera) and the Nikkor 18 - 140mm lens with DX and VR. The camera's not that good for video so I wanted to get something like a Canon EOS 60D and since it was good for Brandon it should be good for me too. So my question is: Can I use my Nikkor 18 -140mm lens for the Nikon d90 on a canon eos 60d? By the way, here's a picture of the lens! (It's not the greatest but it;s the only one that shows the name) And just so you know, I'm just getting into this stuff so don't judge me -
I used to love in the early 2000s to take snaps with my 2.5mps Coolpics point and shoot camera but never could invest in an expensive camera. Today at a yard sale I found a pretty nice looking Canon. I was impressed by its claimed 10 mps for $15 including a prosumer grade 150 foot rated water resistant case(I guess for scuba). When I got home I found out that it was from 2006 and shots at 3.6k res! I've attached some photos as a sample but they are out of focus because I never learned how to shoot in manual. Is this camera worth learning how to use or is it so old that everything has changed? Note: my favorite photo style is landscape but I took macros to show detail quality.

I was wondering about everyone's thoughts on the "Sony v Canon" debate. I do photo and video, and I'm wondering if it would be a good investment to switch to Sony from Canon. I've seen many YouTubers switching to Sony cameras, but I think that's primarily for video reasons. Would Sony (A7S II and the A7R II) be a good fit for photo/cinema? Thanks for the help.

I'm looking for a camera body from canon (I trust them and already have some stuff from them so easy compatibility is required) I need the following: Wireless Picture viewing (So i can use an iPad etc to view photos on a bigger screen) 1080p 60fps / 4K 30fps Either Built in video stabilisation or via an included lens It needs a lens and bag included (Preferable a telephoto and macro but just macro is fine) and it needs to be readily available in the UK. Canon Branded so i can borrow lenses from friends. I want the cheapest thing that can do the above, What am i looking at price wise?

So, let's say that you've saved up enough money to buy a GH5. You've spent the last 3 years getting a grip on your videography skills and you're looking to step up from your absolutely ancient Canon 60D (because let's face it, that dinosaur will make it extremely difficult for you to get work!) . But, holy cow! The Metabones speed booster to use your EF glass costs close to 1/3rd of your camera! But what if you were to sell your EF glass and buy a M43 to FD speed booster and stock up on FD lenses all for about $400-500? Do you think that would be money better spent versus paying $650 for a Metabones M43 to EF speed booster? You could also put some of the money towards the roughly $500 worth of lenses you have plus $300 you get for your 60D towards a decent stabilizer like the motorized gimbal: the Zhiyun Crane. What are your thoughts? Share! Discuss! Let's chat!

CANON GOES 4K! 9/12/2017 0 Comments It's something that has bugged me for quite a while. Up until today, Canon was the only camera manufacturer that refused to give consumers a 4K camcorder. Considering that it's 2017, I think a 4K camcorder from Canon was LONG overdue. Examples from other manufactures include the Sony FDR-AX100 or Rx100 Mk 5, the Panasonic HC-WXF991K, and the JVC GY-HM 170UA. All of these are relatively affordable options for consumers/prosumers that all offer 4K recording to cheap SDXC cards. In order of price (lowest to highest): Panasonic HC-WXF991K ($899) Sony RX100 Mk 5 ($999) JVC GY-HM 170UA ($1250) Sony FDR-AX100 ($1599) Keep in mind that these are all camcorder-style cameras (except the RX100, which is a point-and-shoot photography camera that can shoot video). Up until now, Canon has refused to give us an "affordable" 4K camcorder. Here's Canon's lineup from the last couple of years: VIXIA HF G20 ($899) VIXIA HF G40 ($1099) XA 30 ($1599) XC 10 ($1999) - This was Canon's cheapest 4K camcorder until today. XF 100 ($1999) With the exception of the XC10, all of these camcorders are HD only, meaning their maximum resolution is 1920x1080. But today, Canon dropped 3 new camcorders - the VIXIA GX10, the XF400 and the XF405. All three of these camcorders are 4K capable and record to SDXC cards. Take a look at some pictures: Visually, they look beautiful. Modern, refined, and clean. A nice step forward from their older "rounded" look. It's also nice to see a more robust shock mount for shotgun microphones on the top handles. So how much is Canon asking for these? A LOT. VIXIA GX10: $2499 XF400: $2999 XF405: $3499 A consumer camera... at $2500?! WHAT?! I feel like Canon is turning into the Apple of camcorders. We'll have to wait and see how they perform before we can take a swing at Canon for extortion. But as of right now, the prices seem a bit steep for what these camcorders are.

I ran into an issue uninstalling my canon mf8200c printer drivers. It wouldn't uninstall since I had jobs pending and I tried removing the jobs the normal way. Didn't work. I then tried simply stopping the print spooler service then uninstalling only to have my memory maxed out the deldrv.exe process eating up all the ram that was avaliable. Ended it and tried again same result. The final fix was going to "C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS" deleting it's contents then starting the print spooler service again. I'm writing this here as I couldn't find a fix for my problem through google and it might help others with the same problem.

Okay, so my 60D started to have this weird flickering on the LCD the other day. It started subtle when just switching from live view to review. Then, it got a lot worse no matter which position the LCD is in. All the overlays spazz out when trying to change my settings. Not really sure what this issue is since some places say it's the LCD and others say it's the shutter engine. Any help is appreciated!

Hey! I currently have a Sony SLT-A37, which i bought a couple of years back. It is a pretty decent camera for a beginner at photography, but I really want to upgrade now. Many people tell me to go for the Nikon D5XXX series. Could you suggest some good camera for a budget price? And what about Canon?

Hey guys, its me again. Today I'm looking into using my RCA Viking PRO tablet as a field monitor/ DSLR controller for my Canon A2300 camera (I know, not the best options on both sides). But being a Youtube creator, I'm hoping to create better content for my channel with what I have. I have looked for guides/ apps to do so and it looks like my hardware options are just not supported on either/ both fronts. Just wanted to see if anyone has any insight in the matter before I give up on this endeavor all together. Thanks for the help all the same!

Hello, I have a Canon 70D, and everything works just fine, but I've read the pinned thread about "choosing the right DSLR" in the Photography section here, and I was wondering if anyone here could help me out with a few tips on what lens(es) to buy. Currently I've got the standart kit 18-135mm lens, but it's giving me red & green edges in Photoshop when zooming in. Also, do EF lenses work well with the ASP-C sensor, and what's the lowest aperture I can make use of with the crop sensor? Fredi

So my camera's actual resolution for images in the settings is 5184x3456, which is 16:10. However when I actually take the images and look at the resolutions, they're all brought down to 5184x2912, which is 16:9. How do I keep them in that original 16:10 aspect ratio? Should I even care about this?
