Longer version and questions: Since I am getting a new graphics card, the GTX 1660 ti, i thought it might be time to get a new monitor considering that i currently only have a 1366x768 VA tv as my pc monitor. I knew nothing about monitors but got a basic understanding of them and found a few potential candidates. I enjoy the deeper blacks of the VA panel and I dont think id like an IPS because of the IPS bloom and color bleeding. Since I am investing more money into this i want a 144hz panel. My current monitor is 24" and it feels kinda small so id like a 27". Ill be using the monitor mostly for internet browsing, youtube and gaming. The following question I have are: 1080p or 1440p on a GTX 1660 ti? Maybe take the 1440p one as a way of future proofing when buying a new graphics card? Is ghosting really noticeable on VA monitors? I currently have a crappy VA tv and dont notice it so i probably wont notice it on a new better display Is 27" too big for 1080p? 1080p with games reaching closer to 144fps or 1440p with games with a worse framerate? Shorter version and Monitors i found: The things I think would be good are: VA panel 144hz 1080p or 1440p (on a GTX 1660ti) 27" size Good Colours The monitors i found online available in Hungary (there are probably better ones): MSI Optix MAG271CR (1080p) Samsung C27FG73 (1080p) MSI Optix G27C2 (1080p) MSI Optix MPG27CQ (1440p) Samsung C27HG70 (1440p) The 1080p panels are similarly priced and so are the 1440p panels. The websites I used for finding monitors and checking the quality are: https://www.displayninja.com/gaming-monitor-list/ https://www.displayspecifications.com/ Which one should I choose (doesnt have to be on the list)? Sorry for bad English.

I am looking at an acer swift 5 to use as a college laptop for my computer science degree. I will mainly be coding in java and C++ but will also go into other types which are not to intensive on the laptop. I also have a desktop so I will mainly use this laptop when I am not at home. The battery is not too much of an issue for me and I need the screen size to be 15inches. Would this be suitable, if you think there is a better alternative for a similar price, please let me know as it will be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi all, I'm looking at monitors atm but not really sure what to get, my PC specs below: Ryzen 5 2600x 16gb RAM 1gb SSD 1070ti GPU Not sure what to get honestly, I'll spend whatever money not really bothered about how much (probably less than £500 is ideal) but want whatever will get best out of my hardware, I play competitive games and currently enjoy an IPS display (I like the viewing angles but hate the ghosting), I am thinking something like 1080p, 144hz, gsync, but honestly I'm a noobie when it comes to monitors so not really sure what would be ideal for my situation. Many thanks!!

Hello, I would like to buy either a laptop or desktop, new or used for under $300 that I can use solely for running Ubuntu and doing school work on. No need for gaming, social media, etc? Any advice on what would be best? Right now I'm looking at refurbed desktops on Ebay, but not sure if this is the smart way to go. Thnaks!

I am thinking about buying a rtx 2070 super. My current gpu (gtx 1070) is still doing it's job, but I'm looking to the future and I'm unsure if it will still cut it. The game I'm looking forward to the most is cyberpunk 2077 and I don't think my current gpu will be able to run it. I have an i5 6600k wich I know is a bottle neck, but I'm thinking about upgrading this too. Does anyone have any thoughts about this? My monitor is 144hz and 1440p just FIY.

So I'll be moving from Germany to Huntsville Alabama for college soon, and I'll be in the market for a new GPU. Where should I look both for used and new GPUs? Should I just trust Newegg? is there a price comparison tool like Germany's idealo.de?

Guy seems firm on $675 after someone else must of took him down from $850. This seems like a pretty good deal to me but I’d like to hear what you guys reckon.

Hi there, hope all is well! So I'm currently planning a build with a 1080 and an i5 8500. I want to be running games at 1440p 144hz (I know I won't get 144fps on some newer titles but will be more than OK on e-sports titles). I had a budget of £1000 (~$1300). This left around £200 for a monitor, looking into this it might be a bit optimistic... I was wondering what sort of 1440p 144hz monitor I could realistically expect for below £300. I'm fine with buying second hand (if it's not a bad idea?), but would rather not. I've been looking at these so far: Acer XF240YU £230 AOC AGON AG241QX £300 https://www.ebuyer.com/838555-eg-27-qhd-144hz-1ms-gaming-monitor-gs27-v2 £220 I wasn't sure how important G-sync was as well. Obviously I would prefer it but on such a tight budget I wasn't sure how much of a difference I would notice or if a free sync would be close enough? Thanks for any help, Ed.

Stated in the title. I'm looking to sell some used computer parts, and I have already posted on craigslist, ebay, offerup, and letgo. Anywhere else I can put used stuff up? I have waited for 2 weeks and either the people that are interested are asking for 100$ discounts, or are scammers that want to wire me checks. Any help is greatly appreciated, and I can give you a link if need be to check if I'm doing something wrong in my postings. I'm selling a gtx 1050 evga superclocked and cpu ram motherboard combo. Thanks guys!

Hey, This is my first post here, hopefully I'm posting in the correct place and in the right format. To cut a very long story, I've been a console gamer for the last few years and want to get back into gaming on PC. I'm aware this PC build is probably complete overkill for what I'm likely to be using it for 99% of the time, but there's a few other things I'd like to mess about with and having this setup might be beneficial. I also plan to buy it built, from I think a reputable retailer in the UK, because firstly I'm concerned about getting a defective component and troubleshooting will be hard and also it is an additional £45 from buying the components myself which I think is worthwhile. Below is the parts list and I'd really appreciate some opinions on my questions below. Parts list: CPU: Intel - Core i9-9900K 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor CPU Cooler: Corsair - H100i PRO 75 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler Motherboard: Asus - ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory Solid State Drive Storage: Samsung - 860 Evo 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage: Samsung - 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: EVGA - GeForce RTX 2080 8 GB XC GAMING Video Card Case: Corsair - Crystal 460X RGB ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: Corsair - RMx (2018) 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply 1) Is there anything about the components I've chosen that rings alarm bells? They may not be the best value, but are any know to have issues? 2) Are the motherboard VRM's okay for this processor? Someone has suggested they're not, which if true causes me serious concerns as the retailer claims a 'Free 4.9ghz extreme overclock' is available if desired. If the VRM's on this board are weak for this processor at factory speeds then they will surely fail with an overclock. 3) Should I opt for an additional 'fan kit'. It looks like the case has 3 front fans included. I'm not sure if the additional 'fan kit' upgrades those 3 fans or adds 3 more. 4) Is the water cooling solution a good option or would an air solution be better. Another suggestion I've had is that the cooler I've selected is too small. I've read they should be 'checked' every 6-12 months too and coolant changed every 5 years. Is this simple? 5) I want to have a 1440p 144/165hz main monitor for gaming and general use and also have 2 1080 monitors too. One monitor for YouTube/movies while working and the other for internet browsing/discord/Skype. I can do that from the video card can't I or would all 3 monitors need to be 1440p? This has turned into a much longer post than I had intended it to be. If you've read it and have an opinion to give, I am VERY VERY grateful!

Is now a good time to upgrade my laptop?
GirthyStone posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
I'm new to LTT forum so hopefully this isn't already been already discussed. I'm in need of a new laptop big time but I find it hard to justify some of the price tags on machines like the XPS 15 considering the boat load of new Nvidia GPU's that have been announced and starting to make their way into laptops over the past month or so. The way I see it right now is I should either hold off and wait for some of the new GPU's like the 1660 or 2060 (or any other newly announced cards) to become an option OR wait for (what I expect to see) a price drop in current model laptops that have last-gen cards (like the 1050). Is it appropriate to feel like right now (and for the next couple months) I'd be missing out on either the latest tech or on possible savings if I were to make a move and upgrade now? I understand that no-matter when you buy there is always going to be something better just around the corner but considering that GPU generations seem to be a 2-3 year period before a new generation is announced that it seem like it might be worth holding off for (assuming that I'll start to see more laptops with the new gen of Nvidia GPU's in the next couple months). LONG QUESTION MADE SHORT: Is now a bad time to upgrade my laptop with the new gen of GPU's making their way into the consumer laptop market over the new couple months? *ADDITIONAL INFO* I just finished my 2nd year of computer engineering and when I started uni I knew heck-all about computers and bought a Surface pro 3 (it's on its last leg now) and have had so much trouble with it I don't know if I can consider a Surface product again. Currently the only machine that I've come across that is of interest to me (and is easily available in Canada) is the Dell XPS 15. I don't really game, mostly app dev, some graphics rendering stuff (currently can't do much of anything on my surface), some hobby-level CAD work (again can't do much on my sp3). I'm looking to keep the price tag under $2000 CAD before tax. Suggestions are welcome. Thanks guys! -

Hello guys! I'm going to university this autumn and I'm looking for a laptop, both for taking notes and playing some games. Mostly i want to play Cyberpunk and some EU4. So I need something quite powerful, but with a good battery life, so i can take it to the campus. We are not typically wealthy, so i'm looking for something mid range, best bank for your buck deal. If anyone can help me out with a good recommendation I would be really glad.

Hi. So, I was thinking of buying wireless earbuds that are compatible with Android. I saw the Airpods Pro, put they're too expensive for me, the same goes for Airpods 2. My budget is 70$. I want earbuds that are similiar to the design of the Airpods 2, I like how they don't go, kind of, all the way in the ear, I like how a little part is outside of the ear. It would be nice if the case would have an option that you could put the earbuds in the case and they would charge, just like the Airpods 2 and Airpods Pro do. So, if anyone has any recommendations, you can just reply to this post.

So I'm looking to buy new fans for my radiator, and I can't seem to find a lot of good white fans. I'm going to use it with phanteks Halos, so no lights please.

I'm considering buy a new case, my current case is an EVGA DG-86, in it i have (2) 420mm radiators (that's the main big thing). I'm considering buying a new case because i play a lot of VR games and i've found my self having to cover up the case window and reflective siding of the case to stop it from messing with my tracking, completely defeating the point of having a case with windows. Now i'm considering buying a case that can accommodate my current water cooling set up plus not have any issues of reflection. Here is my full parts list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6Q284n Please let me know of any viable replacements The only possible option i've seen is the, be quiet! DARK BASE 900.
