  1. Budget (including currency): £1000 (ideally £900-£1000) Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I have generally decided to go for an Intel chipset just due to the type of loads I will be placing onto the PC. I will be playing games such as F1 23, Forza Motorsport (both with an Oculus Quest 1*) and FPS such as COD, Apex etc. I am also studying engineering so using CAD software is a requirement, although that is another reason as to why I'm choosing Windows and Intel. Also, I shouldn't expect it to be much of a dealbreaker as my current laptop with 8GB of RAM and Intel Integrated Graphics can handle it very well. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I've got a 144Hz 1080p display and all other peripherals I need, although I would want to ability to be able to use 1440p and possibly even 4k in the not so far future. I'm likely to buy around Christmas time and so advice on the prices around that time would be great (I will also likely buy parts on Black Friday if there are any amazing deals). This is the parts list https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VHBCJy, any advice is wanted and very welcome! * Off topic, can someone please tell me as to whether or not, if I download games from the Xbox desktop app, I can use VR on them, and do you just plug in your headset and your ready to go?

Many thanks to anyone who helps :).
  3. Budget (including currency): 1-.5K€ Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Fps shooters, Story games etc, school work Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I made another post before of a pc but im now looking into a different one for cheaper. The colour and look isn't important to me i only care about its maximum performance if it means i sacrafice looks. Only request is that the graphics card is nvidia because I just like what you can do with it and a clear pc case where you can see inside. Thank you!

  9. Hello everyone, I've moved all my parts to a new case and I'm having trouble with the front panel connecters on my new case. I'm just not sure which cables go where, it's my first time changing cases. For reference, my motherboard is a Lenovo LGA1151 DDR4. It's not clearly marked with JP1, USB etc. My old case had all the cables in one but my new one has a few. Please see pics for reference. I've managed to find the correct pins for the HDD +- to get light on the power button (yellow block of pins), but the pc won't turn on. I'm also waiting on a new PSU to try trouble shooting.
  10. Hello all I am planning on building a new pc I have a budget of $3500. I am hoping to get 200 fps in most games at 2k resolution and have lots of storage thank you all for the help.
  11. About a year ago an idea hit me right in the head about putting a screen into a guitar, from there the idea snowballed into a whole project that has been in the development for quite some time now, but now it's finally turning into reality. This development process really kicked my butt from the start with all the logistical ideas on how things would connect, what parts to use both in the guitar and what computer should I put in. In later stages a lot of time was spent on making my own computer case that would allow me to insert and remove the computer with relative ease, as if you want to upgrade parts down the road. This project also got me into 3D printing since that was the best way to make such small case with all the necessary features, as it did allow me to rapidly demo out ideas and concepts. The current build details include these parts (can be subject to change as the project goes on): PC: - Minisforum UM560 (16Gb ram + 512Gb M.2) - choose just because its a powerhouse of a pc, has decent cooling solution that alows me to exaust the head out with relative ease, also fits perfectly in the guitar body thickness wise. it also has a display port type C on the front that is going to be used to power the display in the guitar. LED stuff: - Micro LEDs APA102 - 200 LED/M - found LEDs with great density and width that fits perfectly into the edge binding of the guitar (tested how it's going to turn out before hand, light is not that well defused, but that is to be expected when there is only 2mm of resin between the LED and the outer edge so I can live with it) - ESP32 board - I am using two of these to power and control LEDs in the neck and body separately that i can later combine in to one using WLED, planing on having it soundreactive, that can be done through WLED or LEDFX DISPLAY: - WaveShare 7 inch QLED display: I am using it since it's about the biggest display I can fit between the bridge of the guitar and the neck and it has a decent way of mounting it GUITAR PARTS: Bridge: GHOST ResoMax NV - The only reason I'm using this bridge is because of the display that's in between the bridge and neck, there is no place for normal guitar pickups. But there is also another problem when it comes to picking up noise from the LEDs or the computer it's self, that's why I choose a bridge that has pizza pickups in it that allows me to pick up the sounds the string produce with no noise from the LED light. The plan is for this guitar to have the ability to be played as a normal guitar, have on board recording capabilities, casual gaming/working, RGB edge binding that reacts to the music you're playing on the guitar, or the music on the PC its self. here are some progress fotos so far! Guitar body before the edge binding is on and unpainted Computer case End goal for the body So much testing It fits, it sits

For the monitor i was thinking of 2k 32 inches refresh rate does not matter as its not for gaming. would like this included in the budget but can stretch the budget a bit if required what i have read is that autocad and sketchup are more focused on single core performance i could be wrong but i was thinking of a cpu with higher base clock than getting one with higher cores GPU is also fairly important as rendering projects in vray or lumion can take quite some time on lower end cpu/gpu's appreciate any suggestions
  14. Budget (including currency): up to 1500€ Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Some gaming, programming and probably gamedev (Unreal Engine) So I'm thinking of buying some components to do an upgrade or build a new pc, as I'm coming to the limits with my current one. Current Build: Ryzen 7 2700, 16GB DDR4 Ram, GTX 1660. Unknown motherboard and fans (it is a prebuilt i bought a few years ago) Stuff I want to buy: GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Gaming X Slim 16G (I decided to choose this one, as the 4070 only has 12 GB of VRAM) CPU: Intel Core i7-12700K (I think integrated graphics could be useful at some point) Motherboard: Gigabyte Z690 AORUS ELITE AX ATX LGA1700 RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB black DIMM Kit 64GB, DDR5-6000 Case: Fractal Design Pop XL Air ATX Full Tower Case (includes 4 fans, which may not be the best but probably enough) Stuff like CPU cooler (maybe AIO), I have not decided on. (Maybe someone has some recommendations?) I have not calculated it yet, but my current PSU has 650 watts, which may be enough. Some people told me that I should save the money to do an upgrade to a 4080. (which I'm not a fan of, because it costs more than this build) Any thoughts on this? Lowest price of the build could be 1363€ (1505 USD).
  15. I’m looking to upgrade my computer as I’ve been CPU bottlenecking playing newer games now. I mainly play CoD, Civ 6 (with a handful of mods), and some other shooter games. I’ve recently been sustaining 95%+ CPU utilization while playing a game. My budget is around $300 USD but I’m open to suggestions up to $500 USD. My current setup is listed below. I am looking for advice that I may not have thought of with this build and alternative options that are a better alternative than what I've picked out. In terms of budget, I'm in the bang-for-the-buck category, but if something is significantly better for a bit more, I can consider it. Thank you in advance for the help.
  18. Hi fellas, trying to come up with a GPU to put in a build I am thinking of making. It's been a while since I last upgraded ( currently rocking i5-7600K with an RTX 1060), so I wanted to get something that could at least run things pretty decently on 1080p (maybe 2K). So far I have settled on an i7-12700K, onto an Asrock H670 motherboard. Got some new ram as my current sticks are at 2400Mhz. I already have all other parts (PSU, CPU cooler, case, fans). I am now stuck wondering what would be a decent GPU to get, hopefully one that does not demolish my wallet. I was thinking about a 3060/3060ti , but I am not sure if they are good value. Are 3070s worth the extra money, or are 3060s good enough? Hope some of yall have a good idea/recommendation. I've attached the parts I picked so far (prices in AUD)

Motherboard: I never expect a motherboard is this expensive. I also checked out Z790-A, it's about 200 pounds cheaper. I think the only difference is the Type-C slot. Am I correct here? Do I really need type-C? I can't imagine any use case myself (maybe because I never used it before). Can you advise me on this? Case: Please also advise me on this, I don't think the GPU I will buy can fit in an ITX. Thank you very much for helping me! Yours sincerely, SpaceHunter
  21. Budget (including currency): $1500 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: AAA titles and large Minecraft modpacks w/ shaders Other details: Hi y'all! I'm relatively new to PC building and am looking to upgrade my current PC after about 5 years of use. I already have all the peripherals and everything, it's just the actual PC getting the upgrade. I intend to use MicroCenter, and likely have them put together the PC for me in the interest of time, however I'm not factoring that cost into the actual build. The 1500 budget is pretty firm, and I already have put together a list I think is pretty decent. I still have a little room to play around with though, and am unsure where to best invest it, if at all. Aesthetics aren't really my main concern at the moment as I value performance more. My current PC makes use of an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, and has 32 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and I'm looking to get as big of a performance upgrade I can. I've (hopefully) left a link to the current part list I have below and included it in text form too. I would appreciate any suggestions or tips to potentially improve, or the all clear to get ordering. Thanks! 22. UPDATE JULY 15 2023: BUILD NOW FINALIZED - THERE WILL BE NO FURTHER UPDATES TO THE OP. REVISED OP: I built the first Zen of Huayra-Tata based of the Ryzen 1700 and now it is finally time to build a new system. I literally JUST finished the system last night (05-13-2023) and Im still in the middle of downloading Applications, Games, and Benchmarking. GOAL/USE CASE: I MOSTLY game at high resolution and I really like my chosen resolution and do not ever plan to go any higher. This Resolution is 3440x1440p (2K UltraWide) and I want a perfectly smooth and responsive gaming experience with an average of 100+FPS with 1% lows above 75 FPS at Native Resolution with High Settings in higher-demand games, without using FSR or other artificial ways of enhancing FPS. Currently, the system is capable of much more than this. It actually runs 120-140 FPS on average with 1% lows above 100 FPS, all while on ULTRA Settings at Native Resolution. This overkill graphical horsepower will be great to stay "ahead of the curve" as new games get released over the next 5-10 years. I don't plan on upgrading again anytime soon, I hope to skip the rest of the AM5 Platform and upgrade straight to AM6 next. I also do some light video editing and Multi-Tasking applications and I did consider a Ryzen 7900 CPU but decided the gaming performance was more important. THEME/LORE: The same as last time - Huayra Tata is the South-American God of wind, and also the inspiration for the Pagani Huayra SuperCar. The name fits because of the theme of the build - Ultimate Air Cooled Zen-Based Gaming PC. The word "Zen" is also known to be a chilled, relaxed state. And so, the direct slang translation to the name of this build is: "The South-American God of Wind be Chillen, Dawg" - LOL The colors theme is centered around the Red Devil GPU - All Black Components with the LED lighting set to Red. However with the DeepCool Assassin-IV Cooler now installed, Im enjoying having the LEDs match the DeepCool logo on the cooler, with an RGB strip set to while illuminating the background. UPCOMING CHANGES: There is still one change to make - the CPU cooler. I want to update from this old Noctua D-15S when the new DeepCool Assassin-IV Cooler is finally released, especially as this old Noctua fan has come loose on the hub and now rubs the fan frame, which is extremely annoying. The only way to shut the fan up is to run it at 100% so for now in the BIOS I have the CPU cooler fan pinned at 100% at all times. So with all that out of the way, lets get to the stats of the new build, shall we? BUILD COMPONENTS: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7800X-3D CPU Cooler: Noctua D-15-S (For Now) Now - DeepCool Assassin-IV Thermal Paste: Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Extreme RAM: Trident Z5 Neo RGB 32GB (2 x 16GB) 6000MHz CL30-38-38-96 MoBo: MSI MAG B-650 Tomahawk WiFi GPU: AMD RX 7900-XTX 24GB (Power Color Red Devil AIB) PSU: Seasonic Focus PX-850 (850-Watt Platinum) Primary/Boot Storage: Samsung 980 Pro M.2 NVME 2TB Secondary Storage: Kingston NV2 M.2 NVME 4TB External Storage: WD Black 7200RPM 8TB HDD Case: Lian Li LanCool 216 Monitor: LG UltraGear 34GP83A-B 34" 3440x1440p 144Hz (160Hz OC) Curved HDR-400 Nano-IPS Monitor with FreeSync/G-Sync OS: Windows 11 Professional Other: USB 3.0 x 7 Ports Internal Expansion Card Keyboard: Corsair K70 RapidFire - Cherry MX Speed Switches Mouse: Corsair M65 Pro - 12,000 DPI SETTINGS AND OVERCLOCKING: CPU: EXPO-I with 1.290V SOC, PBO All-Core Curve Optimizer set to -30mV. Result is +180MHz All-Core Max Clock (4980MHz During CineBench Multi-Core) RAM: EXPO-I 1.350V, 6000MHz with Timings of 30-38-38-96 GPU (MY PREFERRED DAILY SAFE OC SETTINGS): +5% Power Limit (400-Watt Max), 1100mV Core Voltage, 2650MHz Actual VRAM Clock, Fast VRAM Timings Enabled, Custom Aggressive Fan Curve GPU ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM OC (NOT 100% STABLE): +15% Power Limit (430-Watt Max), 1020mV Core Voltage, 2760MHz Actual VRAM clock, Fast VRAM Timings Enabled, Fans Locked at 100% SUMMARY: I found some good deals on certain components. As a result, the total Cost of the TOWER (excludes Monitor and Input Devices as well as any external drives) is about $2500 USD after tax. Once the CPU Cooler is updated this will truly be the ultimate Air-Cooled experience. The massive 160mm bespoke Lian Li Intake Fans on the LanCool 216 can spin at up to 1800 RPM and create a wind-tunnel-like mass of airflow inside the case. Currently, the CPU maxes out at 81°C during the CineBench R23 10-Min Stress Loop, despite the overclocking. On Average, after a few minutes to heat-soak, the the CPU temp tends to mostly bounce around between 79°C and 80°C under full load. More Pics with more detail will show as I update the CPU Cooler and finalize the build. I will be sure to update the OP when this happens with more information. For now the only benchmarking I have done is CineBench R23 with a score of 18350 and a Unigine Superposition 4K Optimized Score of 23961. Im waiting for the new CPU cooler before I do extensive testing. For now, here are the pics of the tower itself. Don't mind the clutter surrounding the machine as I was just finishing up and the tools and parts were scattered all-around. BUILD PICS: BUILD UPDATE JULY 13 2023: The final Piece of the Puzzle has finally arrived - the DeepCool Assassin-IV CPU cooler. This is a BIG upgrade from the 5+ year old Noctua D-15-S that was installed in the system. The Noctua Fan was getting old and starting to wobble and its performance was suffering. Even with all fans at 100% speed, the D-15-S would have the Ryzen 7800X-3D CPU hitting 81.2C and with all fans in silent mode it would hit 84.1C. Meanwhile, the Assassin-IV performs much better. Even with all system fans including the CPU fans in silent mode, the Assassin-IV has the CPU maxing out at about 78.5C, and with all fans at full speed that maximum drops to 77.6C. I noticed during the run that the temperature would typically bounce between 76.5C and 77.3C. So on average, the Assassin-IV runs 4.0-5.0C cooler than the D-15-S and is quieter as well. Both coolers ran Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut paste and since I upgraded from AM4 to AM5 not long ago, the D-15-S did in fact have fresh paste and was cleaned during the upgrade as well, so no excuses for the old cooler. I also went ahead and updated to the latest BIOS for the motherboard dated 06/30/2023 and was able to tweak OC settings ever so slightly for some additional performance. I reduced SOC voltage manually only very slightly to avoid CPU melting issues in the future - 1.290V. I also gave the Chipset Core a slight voltage boost from 1.050V to 1.100V just to ensure absolute stability. The original CPU overclock and RAM EXPO-I profile remain the same as before, but thanks to the new cooler and adjustments made to other settings, I was able to increase all-core boost clock slightly resulting in a slightly better CineBench score as you can see in the screenshot below. The All-Core Boost frequency is now 4,980 MHz as the test begins, then settles in at 4,970 MHz as the CPU gets hotter. (Assassin-IV installed in system) BENCHMARKING PICS: (DeepCool Assassin-IV CineBench Results - Custom Medium Aggression Fan Curve for balance between silence and performance - 10 Min Throttle Test) (DeepCool Assassin-IV CineBench Results - Absolute Best CineBench SINGLE RUN with unnecessary background apps disabled) (Unigine SuperPosition Daily Safe OC) (Unigine SuperPosition Absolute Maximum GPU OC) (3D Mark Time Spy - Typical Daily Safe OC Settings) (3DMark TimeSpy - Absolute Maximum GPU OC) (3DMark Time Spy Extreme - Typical Daily Safe OC Settings) (3DMark SpeedWay - Typical Daily Safe OC Settings) (3DMark Port Royal - Typical Daily Safe OC Settings)
  23. Hello, I built my first custom PC back in early 2020 and the thing has been going strong for 3 years, sadly, it's already starting to wear down and some specs are in need of an upgrade. But I need some help. I mainly need help in the case department. Let me first drop the necesary information and I'll explain afterwards. This is my current PC: Mechastructor - Saved Part Lists - PCPartPicker And this is the upgraded version: Mechastructor - Saved Part Lists - PCPartPicker This PC will be an all-rounder (gaming, coding, very light video editing, drawing, 3D Art), though it's 1st and mostly main purpose is gaming, think AC Valhalla (Once that game is a bit more stable on my side), Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, Kingdom Come Deliverance, etc. As for programs, stuff like SFM/Blender, Krita, Microsoft Visual Studio, Clipchamp, the basics. The upgrade budget is a max of €650-700 (€300-350 for the remaining parts I suppose) and I am buying all my from the same retailer because they're amazing and there's barely any hardware store near me so they're my best option. Though I am in the Netherlands, should anyone know of any hardware stores here. Now, I must admit I did a small oopsie when choosing the motherboard, while it does have a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C on the back. It does not have such a supported slot for the front panel. Regardless, it's the only white motherboard anywhere near my budget, I'm going for a slight theme, more on that later. Now, I thought I'd get the NZXT H7 Flow because that one has the 3.2 Gen 1 Connector the motherboard supports (And according to the motherboard, it can handle the 2 USB Ports on one socket) and then I'd let the cable for the Type-C hang loose until a new Motherboard. But I looked in the manual online and saw that the H7 uses something called a "Intel F-Panel standard header". Now obviously this board is not made for Intel, and the NZXT manual does not say which pin exactly is which, so I can't compare it with the manual of the motherboard and see if they would fit anyway. I looked online and some said there is an adapter, but the manual doesn't list any kind of adapter in its contents. So I'm worried this case won't even be compatible with the board. So the main question here is; What purpose does each slot have in the NZXT H7 Flow case on the F-Panel header, and would that work with this ROG Motherboard? Then secondly, I'm just looking for some general feedback on this build. It's basically my second build with how many new parts I am getting, though it's only because my hand is forced. As the system has been failing a bit here and there, and I do not have time to save up more. I like building my new PC's around some themes, this one will be a more "elegant/royal/luxury" theme, hence the focus on the white motherboard and the white case (I even have a build in mind for the future for a Royal Vampire theme. Because I love vampires. Red liquid cooled and all, but that's far ahead in the future). The RAM would eventually be replaced with G.Skill Trident-Z Royal. The reason I went with a Ryzen 5 5600X instead of a 5600 is because the place I am buying it at, didn't have that much of a difference in price. The ROG Strix was, once again, because it was the only white motherboard in my price range AND had the USB Ports I needed (Gen 2 Type-C for example) though I am curious if any of you would have picked a different board, the Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB was picked because it's of the same series I use now, and I am very happy with it so I knew it was a safe and reliable investments... Plus it was cheap. Now, the SSD's are only possible because the place I am buying at has a massive sale at the moment, were it not for that, I might have re-used my current drives. My GPU I'll just be reusing because it works perfectly fine for my needs, and replacing that one would be a wallet-killer. The case, again because it's white, and NZXT seems to have great cable management at the back. Now there is a different one in the competition if this one would truly not work, and that's the Fractal Design Pop XL Air White. The reason I didn't pick that one, is because I am worried about cable management and airflow. And I know NZXT is a relatively good brand. And finally the PSU, I am currently using a BeQuiet! System Power 9 500 Watt. It works perfectly, doesn't make too much sound. And the System Power 10 is cheap so fits in my budget. Should I upgrade to a gold standard one? Probably, but that makes me go way over budget, as any good ones are quickly triple the price. I am also running a very old Philips monitor of which I can't find the exact model number online, though it's a grey 190B according to the stamp on the top left of it. And a XP-Pen Artist 15.6 Pro plugged directly into the PC for its power. I am still a bit on the fence about the SSD, because I am worried about its life cycle. My current OS SSD is already at 89% according to CrystalDiskInfo with a total power-on hours of 12668 at the moment of writing, and my SSD Games M.2 at 96% with 10102 hours. Almost daily runtimes, on average probably around 6-8 hours from Monday to Friday and probably around 13-18 hours on weekends. While the HDD's listed as a ST3500630AS in device manager, have been going for over 15-ish years without a single problem. Recently even did a full detailed scan, SMART, Corruption check, etc, and they're in perfect health. Even though those drives probably have been hammered the most with data, gaming, 3D Rendering in SFM, etc. I think that's all. I do apologize for the ridiculously long post. But I did want to give as much information as possible. Should I have missed something, or there's somehow more information needed, let me know. Any help with the Front Panel header and feedback on the build itself will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  24. Budget (including currency): No budget future plan so cheaper will make me get it faster.. Country: Norway Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Plex, game servers (Minecraft, atlas, eco, rust, space engineers, unturned....), nextcloud, unify controller, uptime site, maybe steam cache. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): the main reasons for upgrading are that I need more space and the server is pretty loud so trying to find something that's more quiet. also my current system cant transcode anything (unless it's 1080 to 1080 for max 2 streams) due to no GPU. My current setup: ProLiant DL360 G7 Os: xcp-ng (vm then truenas) (info: didn't know what I would end up using so that's why I have 2 os while I only need 1) Ram: 64GB (4x16GB) 2RX4 PC3-10600R CPU: 2 x Intel Xeon X5650 Storage: 1,6TB (600gb*4 in raid 5) Maybe a new setup: I watched the "I built this computer for Mark Rober", and started with this: Motherboard: ROMED8-2T (https://www.asrockrack.com/general/productdetail.asp?Model=ROMED8-2T#Specifications) CPU: AMD EPYC 7302P (or something like) Case, ram, CPU fan, and storage: (https://www.komplett.no/wishlist/shared/423bc95e-3188-498c-9287-aebcd8689037) I already have one of these, but I can't find any information if the motherboard supports PCI bifurcation, if not is there one alike I could use?: https://www.asus.com/no/motherboards-components/motherboards/accessories/hyper-m-2-x16-card-v2/ I also need a Psu and maybe a GPU for transcoding, but how much do I need? I want this setup to be future-proof... so Imma start with 3 disks and add more as needed
  25. Alrighty so I've completely bought everything new at this point. I thought it was Ram nope that works. I bought a new power supply bc it seemed like the old one didn't work. Bought a new motherboard bc I couldn't think of anything else as to why the pc is not powering on. I've tried different cables from the same Psu manufacturer—different outlets. The only thing I haven't tried is if the CPU is fried or dead. Idk if this helps but with the first psu I got the fans to turn on for a split millisecond but it immediately turned off. https://newegg.io/39a05188 <--- my build
