A mining farm has been spotted in the US with as many as 78 PNY GeForce RTX 3080 graphics cards. In a world where it’s hard to find even a single gaming graphics card, this miner managed to buy almost a hundred of them: Nearly one hundred of NVIDIA’s almost fastest GPUs for a single person, and not even for gaming. Source 1: https://www.hardwaretimes.com/mining-farm-with-78-pny-geforce-rtx-3080s-spotted-capable-of-gen-128088-per-year/ Source 2: https://www.tweaktown.com/news/76979/this-78-geforce-rtx-3080-crypto-mining-rig-makes-128-000-per-year/index.html This is quite the exceptional operation; not just the annual accumulation of 128-thousand dollars per year, but the fact that the person was even able to snag 78 RTX 3080s to make it happen (that is in itself more impressive than the actual mining farm, to be honest). The question though, is how many of these are in the wild that have not been discovered or disclosed? Makes you wonder why stock or supply issues have been so apparent. This is only one mining farm we know of utilizing Ampere cards, imagine all the ones that possibly exist that we don't know about...

Hey, I recently got a new pc, it has a single GPU (a Radeon Rx 570). I have the following queries: 1. Currently using NiceHash Wallet and Miner. Should I switch to some better option? 2. I'm making about 1 USD per day (before subtracting electricity costs) If I want to upgrade my setup, what should I upgrade it to? I know that ASIC are better at mining, but are profitable only when you get hand on them just after the lauch (else they become outdated to mine). So should I go for adding more RX 570s (on the cost of buying one ASIC) or buying a ASIC. Also, since I don't have a power meter to measure my rig's wattage, is 1$ profitable or not? Also, if 3090ti is the most powerful nowadays, why does internet still recommend 570s and 1080s, (Is ROI the most important factor, what about the Hashrate?) My Electricity costs are around 0.1$ per 1kWHr or 1 unit

Hello there Disclaimer: I'm completely new to this I spent about five or six hours trying to understand how to setup a bitmine. After a few bumps I came across this platform (I don't know if it's the right terminology) called NiceHash. I set it up and ran it for a time. I must say that my setup isn't good for this, at least that's what I understood of my research. CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4460s CPU @ 2.90GHz RAM: 8GB GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745 Now, I was bit mining for a while, about 30 - 45 minutes while searching a few things that were appearing in the prompt and I came across this thread: He mentions two curious things: NiceHash isn't a mining application, it's a mining marketplace CGMiner and Minerd So, I came to the conclusion that by using NiceHash, I'm limiting the possibility of increasing the profits of bit mining. I'm sorry for the long post but once again, I'm new to this. My questions are: Is it worth bit mining with the setup I have? What are your thoughts, from the people that really know this subject, about NiceHash? Should I be bit mining in a different way, as in a different platform or something alike? Thank you in advance!

Hi, I have been interested in mining some bitcoins, but not really sure how to get started. And just in case it comes up, I have no coding experience. I don't know what else to say, so just send any tip/suggestions my way. Thanks

#SolidGold Last night, for the first time, the value of Bitcoin was higher than gold: $1,268 (about £1036) for one Bitcoin vs $1,233 (about £1,008) for a troy ounce of gold when the markets closed. The volatile cryptocurrency recently made history by closing in on one of the most valuable product on the market 'Gold' , The current high is being attributed to surging demand in China, many experts have questioned whether the crypto-currency will last but it's been pretty rough ride i dont follow much about bitcoin, but i do know it's a potentially valuable asset for trade , personally i dont trust bitcoins legitimity , this might be a potential bubble that could pop in the future , So feel free to discuss this topic & give your opinions down below sources: http://www.bbc.com/news/business-39149475 http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2017/03/bitcoin-is-now-worth-more-than-gold/

When I mine bitcoin with my GPU, my computer becomes unresponsive, mouse is lagging, everything is lagging, cant even browse on the internet normally, its like unusable. I think think this is not normal because I saw other people mining and using PC just fine. What could be wrong? I'm mining with lyra2v2 on GTX 1070.

Hey, I want to buy an LTT Floatplane club subscription. PayPal doesn't wish to have me as a customer thus I'm not able to pay through PayPal. I've been snatching the LTT Floatplane videos from the interwebs for a good while now out of necessity but I do want to contribute. I'll be making payment in Bitcoin. Please can any staff send me a PM with payment information (Bitcoin address + price (i.e. $29.99)) and I'll be sure to make payment at my earliest convenience.

Okay so I want to get into mining etherium badly but after research for the most economical and best gpu for the job, It dawned on my that these gpus are becoming less common. The best card is the Sapphire RX 480 NITRO+ but I can only find it at around $350. With the new tech that has been coming out is there a better cost option for the same performance as the RX 480? Or maybe there is a similar performing RX 480 that's a lot less?

So me and my girl friend want to buy a bitcoin and hope to make a few bucks for the increase of money on them, i'm using a site called CoinSpot, from what i'v read they're legit but when i go to purchase the bitcoin via the website it's asking for my PAN (personal access number) which i'v been told to never give out as when someone has that, they can just enter your bank they also want my Secure Code which all just sounds dodgy as hell, it's from a 3rd party site called POLi people say blue virgin use the site and others claimed to of used the site and say it's legit but again i'm not sure please confirm if it's legit or i'm just being played a fool?

Hello, I could really use some enthusiastic advice. Hopefully a quick intro: I'm running for City Council in my home town. I finally moved in to a home for good with my new wife. We were living in seven different homes after Hurricane Sandy. She has a 2008 iMac, and I have a 2010 Macbook Pro. I updated the RAM on both three years ago, but these are showing their ages (especially the iMac). I can tolerate using my MacBook pro for about 8-10 more months. We do multi media editing, word processing, autoCAD, web browsing, (No Streaming)... and I have a passion for playing Sid Meiers's Civilization Games, and I'm interested in exploring/experimenting mining bitcoins, and possibly something with VR. I have a HDTV with two HDMI cables running behind the wall into a closet. (Excited to say I cut my cable a year ago), I just have a roku player next to the router (Hooked up via an ethernet cable). (Sorry if that intro was long) My desire is to replace my computers. (And the budget is $5,000 Total) As a candidate for local office on a third party line I campaign myself, so I was thinking of purchasing something where I can gather information from people as I'm on the streets, like maybe a Lenovo Yoga 720, (Though I hear Lenovo is possibly announcing new products this month). .(However, I like that the Aero 15 has an Nvidia GTX 1060, and most notably: 4 lanes of PCI as a pro (And I'll get more into that below), but it's not a 2 in 1... I also was thinking of utilizing the space on my closet shelf ( 12.5" tall, and 20" deep, and 3' wide) as a place to house an efficient desktop to hook up to my HDTV, and add an external optical drive so I can finally play blu-rays and dvds. The NFC S4 Mini would be cool, except I've never built a pc before.. Though I have an acquaintance who builds pcs I would try to ask because I would definitely need assistance. Only thing, is if the desktop is in the closet, and I wanted to ever try a VR it would be irritating to take it out, and rebook it all up, which is why I am asking if you would agree having a laptop or 2 in 1 that is VR ready to provide for that potential capability. I understand Thunderbolt 3 is used for fast speed transfers, and the faster speed transfers require 4 Lanes of PCI. My intention is to have something that is able to hook up a VR sometime in the future for a future child and not have to purchase anything else other than an external GPU. I am not well versed on the tech, but I value my investment as much as you do, and from what I observe watching Linus with respect to ThreadRipper, and Intel's i9 Core, the Processor's are about to be overhauled in a near revolutionary way. Would anyone make the case to wait for pre built systems & laptops that not only include i9 with all of its cores, to not only be released, but also have all of the interoperability with Motherboard, RAM, GPU, and other components refined? Long Story short, your responses, constructive criticism, any input will be extremely valuable. I look forward to finally having a strategy for when would be an acceptable time to purchase, and what I should be looking at.

It"s worth mining with my rig or I need something more powerfull? I seem to have an abundance of pc hardware around that is pretty powerful. I do a lot of used part hunting for friends and keep a few really good deals for projects. I have e looked into crypto currency mining but as you may know it is dominated by asics nowadays. What other uses can I assign to my hardware?

Hi everyone, I wanted to share a program with you guys, ( I hope posting this type of stuff is allowed ) called "Suchflex" EDIT: Looks like they shut it down To sum up what it does: It combines bitcoin mining(GPU), selling hard drive space using Storj.io (HDD) and completing BOINC projects(CPU) all in one user-friendly program where no complicated setup is required, earning you a passive income, that pays out weekly. *Please note that it still is in beta. For more information: Bitcoin Storj.io, Linus and Luke covered this on the wanshow BOINC Offical Suchflex site also FAQ Official subreddit On their site, there's a list of components that state how much you could earn.eg: a GTX 960 could earn you "20+" a month. Here's a labeled screenshot that I made: 1 - Toggle switch: on/off 2- utilization of component in percent, can also be changed by user, higher= more MH/s 3- list of hard drives which can be used for storj, sliders can be moved to change how much to share. 4 - redeem button, here you can choose the platform to redeem to currently: Keep Balance in Account Coinbase Paypal Stream Gift Code Bitcoin Wallet Digibyte Wallet FLEX Redemptions happen every Sunday Minimum Balance to redeem = $3 5 - Shows how much each component has earned you, top right is the total. If you're interested in trying this out, you can sign up through their site.

Based on a friend's recommendation, I downloaded NiceHash Miner to just test out the whole mining thing. Long story short now I've got 30% GPU power usage while idling, any ideas? According to MSI Afterburner, the power is at 30-31% most of the time with dips down to 13% every 15 seconds. Malwarebytes detected one threat, which I removed after uninstalling the program. I downloaded it from here: https://miner.nicehash.com/

I came across the article. Anyone who mines with Bitmain Antminers should see this article. Hope this helps " Antbleed is a backdoor introduced by Bitmain into the firmware of their bitcoin mining hardware Antminer. The firmware checks-in with a central service randomly every 1 to 11 minutes. Each check-in transmits the Antminer serial number, MAC address and IP address. Bitmain can use this check-in data to cross check against customer sales and delivery records making it personally identifiable. The remote service can then return "false" which will stop the miner from mining. The patch was introduced here (pastebin) and can be seen in the source: here (github) At worst, this firmware backdoor allows Bitmain to shut off a large section of the global hashrate (estimated to be at up to 70% of all mining equipment). It can also be used to directly target specific machines or customers. Standard inbound firewall rules will not protect against this because the Antminer makes outbound connections. Even without Bitmain being malicious, the API is unauthenticated and would allow any MITM, DNS or domain hijack to shutdown Antminers globally. Additionally the domain in question DNS is hosted by Cloudflare making it trivially subjected to government orders and state control." "Around 70% of Bitcoin hashrate affected Bitcoin Core developer Peter Todd says "any MITM attacker or DNS attacker can activate it [Antbleed backdoor]" as there is no authentication mechanism included in the firmware." https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/backdoor-code-discovered-in-popular-bitcoin-mining-equipment/ http://www.antbleed.com/
