I had a 2018 AutoCAD Architecture version installed on my computer and needed to use the 2020 version for a bit, so I uninstalled the 2018 and installed the 2020 version. No problems with that, but when I tried to go back and install AutoCAD 2018, the installer shows it's already on the computer. I tried deleting all types of files, searching for anything left from the previous program, but still could not succeed. Any suggestions?

Shopping for laptops that can serve as portable workstations is painful. Especially when you're not the one who's going to end up using them - and you have some specific requirements. So here's why I'm here! A friend of mine, who's an interior designer, wants to get a portable (workstation) laptop (max. 2000 EUR) for the following: AutoCAD Sketchup Revit (Puget link too) Lumion Since I've never used them before, I had a look at the recommended specs, all hyperlinked. With the exception of Lumion, GPU doesn't seem super important. Laptop GPU's at this price point are trash imho, except for the 2060. I haven't included Quadro's* Laptops I've found that I deem worthy of a buy have the following specs (prices are in EUR): 1. i7-9750H & 2060 - 2K 2. i7-10710U & 1660 - 1.7K 3. i7-10510U & MX 250 - 1.5K (not so much, honestly) I was thinking of looking at the Studio / Creator laptops, but those are over 2K EUR, same as older workstation laptops. I am still curious to see what recommendations you have, even at a 2.5K EUR budget, perhaps my friend can make the extra step, since the laptop will produce money (no shots fired, gamers). Let me know what recommendations you have and drop some laptop models. Please use US (good for reference), NL or DE websites. * The person wants the laptop to be light and portable and the laptops equipped with Quadro's weren't light, nor particularly cheap (in The Netherlands / Germany). I did find some Quadro P620 laptops, but those don't seem to be great performers. ** Revit (and Puget) both make the case for Quadro cards and Revit offers official support for Quadro P2000 cards, so it really drives me nuts I can't find something under 2K with those specs around here.

Hey guys! I need some advice for a Autocad Workstation. My boss gave me the green light to build my own work station. We mainly use AutoCAD MEP. My currently work station is just killing me, I got into so much shit and hate because of that work station. Anyway, here is the list/spec of the workstation that I had in mind. I didn't pulled back when it came to the GPU, but I am contemplating on changing it to a bit cheaper quadro card. i7 6700k Gigabyte G1 Gaming GA-Z170N Rev. 5 G.Skill TridentZ Series 16gb 2800Mhz PNY Quadro M4000-PB EVGA SuperNOVA 650 GS Mushkin Enhanced ECO2 512GB Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ITX The reason why I am going with a mini ITX system is because I really dont have much space in my work area. And for the cooler, I am thinking of either getting the CM Hyper 212 Evo or just go with an AiO (Corsair H110i I guess). I wont be overclocking too. I just want to get the fastest consumer level processor. I mainly do 3D Piping, Duct work, some 3D detailing of mechanical equipment. I read somewhere that the M4000 is a overkill card for what I do, so I was contemplating of switching down to a K2200 or M2000. Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated! P.S. My boss is expecting for me to get everything ordered by the end of next week Monday.

Hi there guys! Last time I asked for help for a build it was for my gaming rig. You all were awesome and I am enjoying sweet and smooth 1080 gaming a lot. Now, I am sure many of you could help me build the best computer for high-end gaming... but what I need now it's kind of different. I was asked, from my uncle, to build a computer. He needs it for work. He and my father own an architect studio, and both have very old and very obsolete computers. Also, those are full amd and kinda hot in these hot days ( #hotitalyishot ). He would like to pay around 600Eur. The build should not be high-end, and he asked just for a few things: -must be pretty fast to turn on; -must have a cd reader (i could not belive it, but it seems he still uses those); -should not consume too much power; -must run autocad and office programs flawlessly; Anyone has any ideas? Would like to buy from amazon.it Thank you a lot!

Hey everyone, A friend asked me if I could recommend a PC for his company and particularly for AutoCAD and similar purposes. I decided that I want to buy something prebuilt from HP, Lenovo or Dell. The reason is that they all have warranty support in my country and if anything goes bad they can ship the entire thing and get it fixed. If I built it myself, I'd have to diagnose it, take it apart, get the part RMA'd etc. So I found a PC and a monitor that suit my needs (or at least I think so). The PC (HP Envy 750-111ng) specs are: Windows 10 (important to me because of our laws regarding software) Intel Core™ i5-6400 - 4 cores 2.70GHz (3.30 turbo) 12GB RAM 128GB SSD 1TB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 4GB The monitor (HP Pavilion 24xw) is: 61.0 cm (24"), 16:9 1920 x 1080 Full HD, 8 ms, 250 cd/m² LED IPS-Panel VGA, HDMI The only thing I'm worried about is the GPU since I don't have a lot of AutoCAD experience. I don't think they'll be doing too much 3D stuff, mostly landscaping business. Do you think this would be suitable for the purpose?

I'm looking for a laptop that can do Video editing/rendering and autocad, (schooling to). Now a lot of people recommend having a dedicated gpu for video editing/rendering (using adobe after effect CC) , the price of having a dedicated GPU is 400$ more then a non gpu laptop (depends). is it REALLY require to have that dedicated gpu? Laptop I found for this https://www.mikescomputershop.com/product/5829051 (with gpu) Laptop without GPU http://www.ncix.com/detail/asus-f555ua-i7-6500u-15-6-3e-115542.htm couple of other brand like the lenovo e550... and such Thoughts? please have links to Canadian sellers Thanks!

Ok so ,like everyone im sure, i have done alot of research and have chosen the pc parts i want for my build. They are as follows. CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009O7YUF6/?tag=pcpapi-20 CPU Cooler: Cooler Master V8 GTS - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103189&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= MoBo: ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00906DHLE/?tag=pcpapi-20 Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J8E8Y5C/?tag=pcpapi-20 SSD: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A1ZTZNM/?tag=pcpapi-20 HHD: Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005T3GRLY/?tag=pcpapi-20 GPU: MSI Radeon R9 390 8GB - http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=MSI-390GM8&c=CJ Case: NZXT Phantom 820 - http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=CA-PH820G1&similar=31 PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2 80+ GOLD - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IKDETOC/?tag=pcpapi-20 Optical Drive: LG WH14NS40 Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer - http://www.outletpc.com/jy9361-lg-wh14ns40-internal-14x-bd-r-drive.html?utm_source=jy9361-lg-wh14ns40-internal-14x-bd-r-drive&utm_medium=shopping%2Bengine&utm_campaign=pcpartpicker&utm_content=LG%20Electronics%2B-%2BDVD%2FCD%2FBlu-Ray%20Drives%20%3E%20Internal%20Blu-Ray%20Drives So basically my main concern is will i be able to use AutoCAD and Solid Works with this set up as well as gaming. im not a hardcore gamer but i like fallout and minecreft. I know that the higher core count and the higher frequency will help. There just isnt any good references online that discuss this or give solid info. Thanks in advance.

Im building a computer for a friend that is an interior designer and architect. She will be using mostly Autocad and rendering some pretty crazy 3d floorplans and whatever. Can someone give me an idea on what the minimum requirements on a NVIDIA gpu would give me decent performance ? Also , what would be the best possible GPU for this . I was looking at workstation gpu , the quadro and they seem really pricey. Is quadro worth it ? or would i be more than ok with just a powerful geforce ? what does linus use for his video editing. autocad and that stuff are pretty similar so i think what he uses should work great. tell me if im wrong

HI everyone. My parents old laptop (HP pavilion g7) wet to crap. It is slow, fans dont work anymore and I dont think it woud be abel to handle their needs much longer. They are running mostly Google Chrome (you know RAM usage), AutoCAD 2014 and couple of Microsoft offices programs at the time. So I coud tell it's hard multitasking (for them). This laptop now needs too long to start up and waaaay to much time is needed to open any program. I was thinking about buying them something cheap(er). Around 8000HRK whic is around 1100USD. I dont know what to buy, dont know if autoCAD if GPU or CPU intensive program so any suggestion is going to be helpfull. Oh and screen needs to be atleast 17'' in diagonal. Thank you in advance.

I am trying to build a computer for my friend around the $600 mark.. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Gpv2pg This is what I have so far. I understand some things might have to change/be added. I just need to know what graphics card would be needed with this system for around $600 give or take $100...

I have just downloaded the AutoCAD 2015 trial version web-installer. It says "Starting akamai web interface" or something like that. Then it starts downloading... 2.81GB, at the rate of 1 Mbps! Where exactly is the problem, or is there?

After hours of researching and looking at reviews, I can't decide what laptop is best for me So I came here to ask for some ideas and opinion. I really need a laptop for school, but I want it to be less than an inch thick. I really like the zenbook or the dell xps13, however I need something to perform light CAD work, sketchup and revit work. I'm looking for something that's: Budget: 1000 Size: 15 inches preferably Preferably under 1 inch, I don't want a giant desktop replacement battery life doesn't affect my decision much Not much games, if anything maybe just league of legends (most likely nothing though) Need for CAD work, sketchup, renders (I don't need it as a main work station, just when I'm out and showing work or doing work at school) Harddrive preferably 500gb or more, a bit of SSD hopefully Looking to keep the laptop as long as possible Just a DVD/ CD reader for optical drive (SD CARD READER IS PREFERRED) Live in CANADA, VANCOUVER Please keep in mind that I live in Vancouver, I always see laptops in the states amazon for a lot cheaper but getting it shipped here just means I have to pay duty and taxes... Help me out!! Thanks everyone!

Hi there, I'm planning on building a new rig for my dad which is also my first rig. So some help and advice would really be appreciated . That's what I came up with: http://de.pcpartpicker.com/p/JQwMt6 Below is some general information. 1. Budget & Location It should cost around 600€ - 700€, located in germany. 2. Aim As you might have guessed it will mainly be used for some autocad work at home. Since my dad won't really be doing very fancy stuff, the budget is a bit tight. This rig won't actually be upgraded, only the HDD will be replaced by an SSD. Should last at least 2 years. My little brother might play some games (CS GO, LOL) but that's not rly important here (just to let you know ). 3. Monitor Just one monitor so far, but maybe a second one in the future. And not included in above budget! - around 21 inch - 1080p resolution 4. Peripherals Nothing here. 5. OS I will use Win 7 64 Bit Professional. Also not necessary to buy. 6. Why are you upgrading? Well, my dad wanted to use his old laptop from 2004... you get the point Parts: CPU: Excellent single-threaded benchmark. Might have chosen a cheaper one, I actually found a discussion about a CPU for autocad and that's what seemed to be the best choice. Motherboard: Seemed to be compatible and had good reviews. RAM: Good price and good reviews. Storage: Good price. SSD unfortunately just to expensive. Video Card: That's where I'm rly unsure. I could not find any relevant information on how AutoCAD 2015 or 2016 leverages the power of the GPU. PSU: Good price. Again, no idea whether this is good or actually to expensive. Case: Seems to fit. Optical drive: Just to have one It is my very first build and most of my decisions were made based on the budget I have and the reviews. I made of course some research, so hopefully I didn't make any serious mistakes. Thanks for any help and advice

Hey forum, gonna need your good advice once more. My roommate is studying in a program close to engineering (in french it's called Mécanique du bâtiment, No clue what's the right name in english) and he will need a pc to do his homeworks and projects. his budget is around 800$ CANADIAN(I know, I know, not easy). I was wondering the best route to go for this one, would he have more performance if he went with workstation parts or with gaming parts, or even a mix of the two. I'm pretty confident in my knowledge of the gaming parts, but know next to nothing about workstation gear. one thing to note is that he's totally ok with starting with only a small ssd as storage, he will add a capacity drive later on. Help and setups would be appreciated. Thanks guys !

I am new to the computer hardware world. As I research and learn off the internet, I came through an information that 'the best graphic card / video card for gaming might not be the best for your workstation.' My Question is: 1. What is/are the Best GPU(you may list 3 or less) for an architecture workstation. 2. How is the requirement is different between Gaming and the workstation. Thankyou.

So in my rig I have an Nvidia GTX 960 SSC 4GB and am going to be using it for minimal gaming and large autocad models. However I need to get another card anyway for the amount of monitors I am going to be running, and so I am debating getting a quadro card dedicated for my workstation monitors. For some reason, the quadro cards out perform the gtx cards in every autocad benchmark that I have seen, but they are way more expensive and I don't have $1000 to spend on another card. I have already run autocad and it runs good so far, but I am wondering if a quadro k2200 could do it better, even though it is a lower end quadro card. In terms of the specs, the memory bandwidth on the gtx 960 is 40 GB/s greater, and the base clock for the gtx 960 is also 200mhz faster, but they both have 4GB vram. Would the quadro k2200 render autocad better? Is it worth paying another $400 on a low end quadro, or should I just buy another gtx 960 so that I could sli them in the future?

My friend is an architect and runs his own business with 4 other employees. Everyone has identical desktops except for my friend who has a different GPU. His four employees are equipped with i7 2600 CPUs, 10 GB of DDR3 RAM, 1TB HDDs, and GTX 580s. Everyone in the office spends all of their workday in either AutoCAD or Sketchup designing various things. My friend however is only equipped with a GT 530 and has been experiencing various recent issues including: Scripts taking a long time to take affect/load, whenever he opens either program his mouse pointer will "smear" for lack of a better term (leaving a trail of infinite mouse pointers) and models will load slower plus lagginess when rotating models. In sketchup he must turn all shadows off or his computer will become too laggy to use. As a solution I have come up with two options: A GTX 960 with 4 GB of GDDR5 memory (a huge jump from his 1 GB of DDR3 VRAM) or a NVIDIA Quadro Workstation GPU which are recommended by AutoCAD. HOWEVER I have not gotten a definitive answer on if Quadro cards are all that better for 2D models considering the huge price jump. He doesn't want to spend more than $400 on a GPU so something like a Quadro 4000 or k2200 would be an option. I recommended the 960 because of its low power consumption allowing him to keep his current power supply, but will it solve his issues and give him what he needs? Thanks for taking a look at this post and I hope to get a clear answer after searching for so long.

hey so I was going to get a new laptop for university and don't really know which one i should get. I was going to go into architecture so I am going to be using programs such as autocad and revit. the only main requirement for me is that it has to be portable,so not thick. i dont know how much ram i would need, the current computer i use is 4 and it is very slow when it comes to using the program and even more horrific when it comesto rendering the images. Dont really know my price limit either but the cheaper the better and i dont really need a gaming one becasue i onbly play games like minecraft and csgo. Thanks for any suggestions.
