I have recently entered the bios on my system and been through the "EZ Tuning Wizard". I have then looked on HWMonitor? How do i know what speed my cpu is running at? Is the the clock speed? If not where should i be looking to find out...? Also is 35 degrees safe for the CPU at idle? I also just noticed its spiking to 70C whilst completely idle too? Only for a second though..?

Hello, I am building my new PC with a budget of $2000. This is what I have so far. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel - Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor (£265.00 @ Aria PC) Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory (£186.76 @ More Computers) Video Card: Asus - GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB STRIX GAMING Video Card (£759.98 @ Ebuyer) Total: £1211.74 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2017-12-21 12:51 GMT+0000 My question would be What would the best CPU Cooler be that will fit with this Rig? I do not play on Overclocking and do not mind air or water Cooling But I much prefer air as of what I have seen It tends to be a lot Safer. Kind Regards. - Roy

Hello all! So I upgraded my old system to DDR4 using the Z270 platform. Only thing I upgraded was motherboard, RAM and CPU, however, the CPU has not arrived yet. I built the pc up as much as I could so far, and when I turn on the PSU via the switch, the motherboard lights up as well as all my peripherals, but when I press the power button, nothing happens, nothing, at all. Not even fans (these are plugged in to my board, not my PSU), and not even the power LED lights up. I am a 'little' worried about this, but not 100% worried as I know things like this can differ depending on the chipset. So, is this behaviour normal for the Z270 chipset or is it dead on arrival?

Best Performance Per Dollar High-End CPU?
MegaLukey posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I currently have a I5 4690K, and am looking to upgrade either to a new Intel or AMD chip. I was considering getting a I7 7700K, but I have a increased budget now. So im trying to decide if the new 8700K is worth the money, or if the i5 8600K would be good enough and if I should just save the money. From what I have gathered so far, I think that AMD is out of the question when it comes to this price range. From what I have seen benchmark wise, the Ryzen chips dont stand a chance agaist the 8700K. Mainly the chips im looking at are i7 7700K i7 8700 I7 8700K i5 8600K And im totally open to any other recommendations! I recently picked up a 1070 ti from a friend, and I just want something to make my rig completely future proof. I play video games really, nothing insanely demanding, like streaming, or video rendering. But I would like to make sure that the choice I get doesn't limit me in the future. But I dont want to just go out and buy the most expensive thing if its not needed. Thanks for any help from anyone! Its appreciated! If you need more information, or questions or anything just let me know! -
I am building a PC for rendering and the tools i will be using are Houdini, C4D, Maya, Premiere and after effects. And my budget is $2000. (200k PKR to be exact). Please tell me what should i go with Ryzen 7 or i7 7700k? Also the RAM, size, speeds and channel configuration. And is 1080 good enough for this?

I'm trying to get my i7 7700K to 5GHz, but I'm encountering some issues while doing so. I was able to get it running at 4.9GHz at 1.315V, but when I tried 5.0GHz at up to 1.350v, it is unstable. I am not really willing to go higher than 1.350v. I have it on an ASUS Z270E motherboard with plenty of power and cooling capacity, and 16GB of 2133MHz RAM. The CPU package stays around 60 degrees, with the hottest cores at around 70 to 75 degrees. I tested everything on Aida64, stressing the CPU, FPU, and cache all at the same time to try and ensure stability under extreme loads. Blue screens I have encountered are: - SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION - SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED - PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA - IRLQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Applying more voltage (1.320v -> 1.350v) seemed to have fixed the following blue screen errors: - KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED - ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NONEXECUTE_MEMORY I am quite confused by the variety of errors, and I wanted to know a way to fix them.

Hi guys, I am thinking about getting the CORSAIR RM650x Modular PSU - 650 W to replace my Corsair VS450 power supply. This is for two reasons; 1. Its modular and so i won't have all the extra cables hanging around in my case. 2. It has more power so that i can update to a better GPU in the future. Currently i have a 7700k, gtx 1060 6gb, 16gb ddr4 3200mhz ram. Im thinking about upgrading to a 1080/1080ti in the future and wondered if this would be compatible and would be fairly simple to switch over from the VS450? Thanks for all your help in advance.

Alright so I bet this question has been asked a million times but for gaming, music production, streaming, and when recording games is it better to use a 8700k or a 7700k? Im supposed to build a pc when black Friday starts as the sales will help me a lot.(budget 2000) Also I need this question answered as I've seen yes and no from a whole bunch of forums BUT Can you use a 8700k on a z270 board with all the features it would have as if you used a z370 motherboard or do you need a z370 board to use a 8700k?

1080 ti Upgrading to 1080Ti- Maybe a 7700k too?
shaulbarlev1 posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Heyo, I'm a filmmaking student, mainly working with the Adobe suite: Premiere Pro and After Effects. I'll soon be editing multiple projects in 4K. Current setup: MOBO: Gigabyte GA-B150M-D3H CPU: i7 6700 3.4Ghz GPU: AMD Sapphire Radeon RX 470 8GB RAM: 2x8gb HyperX Fury DDR4, 2400Mhz My plan was to upgrade to the 1080 Ti. Then I started to think about the 7700k. Now, I would've gladly opted to one of the Ryzen CPUs, being of great value for the money and all but for now I'd rather stay with my current motherboard- which if I understand correctly, the 7700k is the latest CPU it can wield. Anyway, maybe eventually I'll upgrade both the GPU and CPU, but for the time being, which will affect more my workflow with Premiere and After Effects? Should I get the 1080Ti and stay with the 6700? or Should I get the 7700k and stay with the RX 470? Is Cuda relevant? Many thanks and happy holidays -
Hey everyone, i just installed my new I7 7700k. I played a conquest map in bf1 and i was getting super high temps averaging in 75c-85c with some peaks into the 90c area. im running a cooler master hyper 212 evo. currently my idle temps are high 30c to low 40c, coming from a i5 6500 this seems very high to me, i was just curious as to the safety of these temps for the hardware, or whether or not i should get a new cooler for it. (NOTE: i will need t owait a week to afford a new cooler is runnign the system for that long safe?) Thank you in advance!!

Hello guys I just got a system upgrade i used to play on purely APU, SO I BOUGHT THE RX 460, and it seems to be running WELL i have a 900p monitor and damn gta V runs Fine like super fine ALSO tried FALLOUT 4, BATMAN, Most wanted and Moba games and was reeally amazed by what this card can do. i just updated my drivers today and have not seen any further driver updates. i have a some questions since this is the very first system upgrade ive had : #1 assassin's Creed 3 does not run well (which is weird cus it goes 60 fps when i look up or down am i bound by my cpu?) but when compared to playing gta V: (which is definitely more demanding ) it runs better than the older game is this an optimization issue? #2 planning to upgrade my cpu but not my mobo ----> will the athlon x4 860k be way better than my old apu? #3 fans not spinning at low temps on my gpu, its normal right and it wont burn my gpu ? #4 on the device manager, i could still see my r7 graphics driver. do i need to uninstall it? is this limiting my new GPU's performance?(photo below) #5 i have overclocked my APU before, but only up to 3.7 ghz as its base for about 20 mins and decided it was not worth it and set multipliers and other settings back to auto on the bios? should OC help me with the AC game? #6 i know that FM2+ is dead, dont judge me this is an old system this is the cheapest board that can support my 1866 ram , i also have a single 1866 8 gig ram from kingston should i consider adding a second stick or is 8 gigs good enough?

Intel's latest Kaby Lake consumer CPU i7 7700K is already up for Pre-Order in Europe online retail market namely faun.ee, It's available for pre-order at 360.35 € ($400 USD) Based on the optimized, 7th generation architecture, Kaby Lake will be delivering improved clock speeds along with decent IPC increments. Kaby Lake has already been introduced on low-power platforms. In the months ahead, Intel would launch Kaby Lake for high-end and mainstream platforms. This would include both mobility and desktop PCs. While Kaby Lake is very similar to Skylake, improvements to the 14nm node deliver increased efficiency and faster clock rates. So talking about the details, first up, we have two “K” series models. These chips have an unlocked design that indicates that they are built for overclocking. The flagship is the Core i7-7700K features 4 cores, 8 threads and 95W TDP. This chip has a base clock of 4.2 GHz and boost clock of 4.5 GHz while featuring 8 MB of L3 cache. The official part number for the model is CM8067702868535. Source: VR-Zone, TweakTown.

Im looking to upgrade my CPU from my current 4690k to something a bit more powerful and i wanted some input. I'll be playing and streaming games like BF1, overwatch, and probably do some light editing for youtube. I'm not sure whether to go with the Z170 chipset and a 6700k, or the x99 chipset and a 6800k, or wait for kaby lake processors in 2017. Thanks for any support on this.

Could you tell me about the AMD Kaveri APUs? I have some especific questions. But any info is useful... - How does RAM affect the GPU side of these APUs? - What is their Intel equivalent? (On the CPU side) - What dedicated GPU will be bottlenecked by them? Will a GTX 960 or R9 285 work fine? - How overclocking them affects their performance? What about power consumption and heat output? - What is the dGPU equivalent to their iGPU? - What is the difference between them? - Can they run Crysis?

i find this two machines a couple days back (at the same price) A10 7700k vs i3-4150 (if any find a benchmark with this two, it be cool)

Hi all, Im after some advice for my PC build that im looking to start on pretty much straight away as my home office refurb is due to be completed very soon. Ive answered the sticky questions below and then added some further details that should assist with any advice. 1. Budget & Location Budget - 1500 of the finest Great British Pounds Location - UK, if you hadnt guessed 2. Aim Primarily gaming and content creation. This will include video editing etc but also use of AutoCAD, Sketch-up etc for work 3. Monitors Planning on running 1 ultrawide 1440p High refresh rate monitor (suggestions would be fantastic) 4. Peripherals Not required, already got these sorted thanks to a hand-me-down. 5. Why are you upgrading? Currently rocking a Lenovo Z710 Laptop (Intel Core i7, 12GB RAM, 1TB + 8GB SSHD) which is great for some low end gaming as it does feature an actual video card which i think is along the lines of an 2gb Geforce 800M and im looking to get into YouTube and truly ascend to PCMR from a laptop and console . This is relevant as i may utilise this laptop as a streaming machine rather than getting rid as i do love my laptop and its great for when i have to work away as part of my day job. As such, this is my current draft of my planned build: PC Part Picker List However Ryzen has dented my confidence in the build, specifically if a 1700x would be a better fit even with the lack of OC headroom (which i would like to do) and slightly lower benchmarks. However i do really like the Asus MOBO ive picked out and was planning a true PCMR RGB build and the asus aura package is a big selling point. Additionally, utilising my laptop to stream would negate ryzens advantage at streaming and gaming at the same on the same system. While i have the laptop, i may aswell make use of it. What do you folks think, should i go with a 7700k and laptop set up or risk it for a biscuit and jump aboard the ryzen train? Any additional thoughts on my planned build also a great help Thanks in advance - RE5URECTION

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/fZpsyf Hi all, This is a build that I have come up with for a new PC as it looks like im going to be returning my current build back to PCSpecialist. How does this build look? Any noticeable issues or problems that could creep up? Im sure loads of you will say go for an 8700k but im not sure i want to spend the extra cash on the cpu and the more expensive motherboards that go with it. My current 7700k is perfect for my use. I use the PC mostly for gaming and some light internet usage. I like to play games such as GTA5, Cod: WW2, PUBG, Destiny 2 and maybe some other newer games in the future. I already have a monitor and peripherals and i will be playing at 1080p. I would like the build to look good but most importantly run games on very high settings over 60fps. Currently i love the way my 1060 and 7700k work when playing games so im sure a 1070ti will perform even better. Any suggestions and help will be appriciated, My budget is £1500 ish and i'll be looking to buy and build in the new year. EDIT: Oh and i should mention that i already own a 2TB HDD that won't be returning with the build as i bought it seperately.

Currently, using an old AMD system with FX 6350 and Radeon 7800 GPU. Constantly runs at 80 degrees (either under load or idle) and I really need an upgrade, so planning to build my first PC (first was prebuilt). https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/yjL8sJ This is my proposed parts list, plan to use this for music production and some gaming (R6 siege, CSGO, etc.). Can't make my mind up on the cooler, as I'm not sure how much of a difference it would make for my use personally. I don't have a specifically set budget, but don't really want to spend tons on a cooler. Also, RAM is ridiculously expensive here in the UK and I'm not sure how much of a difference the speed will make. I should also point out that I'm going for a black and white themed build.

Hi peeps i got a 7700k last weekend and have it under a evo212 with mk4 stock voltage no OC. It reaches 100c under prime95(i then stopped running it :/ ) and I've seen up to 90 while gaming already. Is this normal for this configuration? I don't have a problem upgrading cooler etc if it's normal but it seems a bit extreme. Thanks.
