  1. So I went to go to PC part picker and go through it myself to walk you through the process. I find out Immediately your problem. I guess the Manually enter part button seems to be removed lol? Because I agree, I did this just the other day when I was throwing together a scrapyard build for fun. Maybe its just temporary. Ill look more into it. Edit: "We had a pretty bad spam attack the last few days that was using custom parts as their spam vector. The short term solution was to remove the feature, but we hope to get it back in soon. We’ll prioritize supporting the EKWB store in the meantime." That's from their twitter. It does appear to be temporary so just give it a little while.
  2. I would almost say move down to a r3 1200, overclock it. and get a better graphics card with the money you save. gtx 1060 even 3gb or rx 580 4gb would be a huge jump in performance.
  3. Not to highjack this, but that avatar is AWESOME. I would love to see a different version of the same thing with like a Vincent Valentine type cape. Also I would say you are both right honestly. G-sync would benefit from the extra headroom, but in the niche he is talking about 120hz does seem to have a mathematical advantage. Plus its easier on your system to reach.
  4. The requirements are rarely ever accurate or letting you know what frame rate they expect you will be playing at on certain settings. I would say looking at videos would be a better option.
  5. We don't really have those kind of graphical settings yet. But you can be assured that being a PC game, Star Citizen will eventually have a graphics menu with aaaaall of the options. Aside from like Nvidia stuff.
  6. Apparently its being tested before release right now, but its already pretty late. So the answer is soon, but we aren't really certain HOW soon.
  7. Its going to destroy your fps but everybody has bad fps right now so its not like you will be alone. However going forward you may want to look into upgrading to atleast a quad core cpu and probably something a little more powerful than the 1050. it will run it. but not that smoothly.
  8. It is 100 percent gambling that kids can join in on. The whole concept honestly makes me sick and the fact that we didn't nip it in the butt the minute it started happening is a failure on our part worse than that of letting Xbox live be a thing in my opinion.
  9. October 5th is the release date. This is the Linus Tech Tips forum, the chances that you would not have seen that are so astronomically high its causing my mind to reel with the implications. lol
  10. Can do! Heres 1080p 165hz g-sync https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/4cbkcf/acer-monitor-xb241h here is 1080p 144hz vanilla https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/ZBZ2FT/aoc-monitor-g2460pf
  11. I don't really know of any monitor that does both. There is one coming out but its going to be stupidly expensive. I think if thats what you want you may just have to bite the bullet and get both. However if you are looking for one to just have high refresh rate and the other to be 4k, you could save a lot of money by going 1080p 144hz-165hz and simple 60hz 4k. But for me, 1440p is a good middle ground and I am happy with it.
  12. You are going to get a lot more mileage out of 1440p high refresh rate. If you get IPS on top of that (assuming you have the budget) it would look extremely crisp as well as perform excellent. Probably for years to come. 1080 ti is kind of a monster. However if you go 4k your performance on new games will degrade much more rapidly. I would suggest getting: This if you have a big budget https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/XvfmP6/asus-monitor-pg279q or this if you are looking to spend a little less for g sync and high refresh rate but you don't mind not having IPS https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/7HFXsY/acer-predator-xb241yu-238-2560x1440-165hz-monitor-xb241yu-bmiprz or if all you care about is 1440p high refresh rate then this is pretty budget friendly https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/D8KhP6/benq-monitor-xl2730z Keep in mind these are in Canadian as thats where I am, and I have tax for the region added on. so maybe click through to the American stuff if thats where you are.
  13. I don't really think you are going to get anything worthwhile for that budget, I would keep saving. Even used anything you build at that price is not going to last long.
  14. Are you trying to run mostly newer AAA games? because That card series only goes up to a certain amount of power, and while if we assume it was a 7970, that power is decent still for its age, its not going to max things out anymore and maintain 60fps. Edit: and any model underneath that model (which was the flagship of its generation) is only going to have a decline in performance from that point.
  15. Thats fair, However I would say AMD is killing it with Ryzen. In my personal opinion, there is just no reason to get an i5 over a 6 core 12 thread processor that is only slightly less fast.
  16. the 1600 is significantly stronger and faster than the 8350. It's not at all a close comparison.
  17. I would be shocked if a 1600 were to bottleneck a 1080 by any real margin.
  18. You could even drop the case down to a bitfenix comrade and the power supply to non modular and that would save enough without sacrificing motherboard quality. Good suggestion though.
  19. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pPxTxY This is including tax, the 6 core 12 thread processor should be more than enough for streaming, and the rx 580 should make for some very enjoyable ultra settings, 1080p. or high settings 1440p. The ssd is enough for the operating system a few programs and games, you can add a 1tb storage later if you want. 16gb of ram is more than enough and the modular power supply should make for ample cable management in that phantek case. Also I went with an arctic theme, I hope you like it.
  20. Is that in USD? Also can you tell me what you would be using it for mostly? Do you need a screen, operating system or peripherals?
  21. Hey guys. I'm having kind of a strange issue where my LG g3 started to flicker and fade recently. Now I know other people have had that issue but several days later my gfs g3 starts blue screening. That seems too coincidental to me not to ask about it. Has there been some sort software issues lately? Or are we just weirdly unlucky? Also does anyone know a resolution to these issues that doesn't involve baking the motherboard? Thanks in advance.
  22. I dream of a PCPARTPICKER module that allows you to, in 3d, put together a build to optimise the aesthetics of your rig.

  23. Having said that. 4.9ghz on an i7 950? Did you feed it some sort of otherworldy steroids that can increase performance to godlike levels? lol
  24. Well, anything faster than that is going to be heavily bottlenecked by that i7 950 lol.
