  1. Try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.carlocriniti.android.permission_explorer Haven't tried it myself, but it might tell you something.
  2. I'd say that coding would mainly refer to people first starting out, that are just writing basic lines or if-then commands. Programming, I feel, covers the slightly more experience people that kinda know what they're doing by now.
  3. Yeah, when I was researching different cards, the MSI was my original choice, but the Red/Black GPU shroud was a deal breaker. If it wasn't for the red translucent plastic, I could just have painted part of it white. I have a Phanteks Enthoo Pro, so there aren't any issues as far as space goes. The factory OC is the only one is stock right now, so I don't have much choice, lol. I'm ordering it tomorrow, thanks for the help!
  4. Really? Nice! Sounds like a huge upgrade from my single-fan 560ti that runs 95 degrees while playing Rocket League on high. I think I might just take the plunge for the Strix. Besides, I can't even buy the EVGA I would want right now.
  5. I originally wanted to buy the MSI Gaming X, but having half the of the GPU shroud be red is sadly a deal breaker. I considered the the Armor, but I'd honestly prefer a custom PCB, besides, there is a lot of of exposed PCB. Do you have some temps?
  6. With my 560TI aging, I'm in the market for a new Nvidia card. One of my major criteria is that the card can fit in with my color scheme (Black/White with purple lighting), which immediately eliminated the MSI 1070 Gaming X that was going to be my original choice. Right now, I'm stuck between the choices of an ASUS STRIX or EVGA SC card, as can both fit my color scheme. I already know my fair share about how quiet, and how well the EVGA card performs, but I don't know much about the ASUS. Sadly, I'm not sure whether or not I like how flashy the EVGA card is, as I prefer it to be toned down. Because of this, I'm currently drawn towards the ASUS card, but I don't know too much about it. I'm not sure how well it actually performs since there is a that thing about them sending factory overclocked cards to reviewers. TL;DR: Questions How well does the ASUS 1070 perform? I'm not sure what sources to trust, since ASUS had the debacle where they sent out factory OC'd cards to reviewers. How noisy does it get? I know it has the "under 60, no fans" thing, but with the fans on of course.
  7. MX Blues. Razer got me hooked back with their original Blackwidow, and a brown or green just can't fill that hole. Specifically, I have a Das Keyboard 4 Pro. Pros: Choice between Blues and Browns. Really nice build quality with an aluminium top-plate. Rather than fold-able feet, it has a big, magnetic plastic bar that also serves as a ruler. Mediakeys, a nice volume wheel, plus a "sleep" button. USB hub with 2 inputs. A bit slow for external HDDs, but incredibly practical for wireless recievers (like the one I have for my Intous Pro) Windows logo on the Windows key is replaced by a Das logo. It uses Cherry stabilizers rather than Costar. Cons: No backlighting. Not something I really value too much, since I don't like my desk looking like a nightclub., but sometimes a dim RGB backlight would be nice. Red stripe on volume wheel (and a red Das logo on top). Nitpicky and fixable, but still.
  8. I can't find anything on the temps of the EVGA, but Guru3D has the Gigabyte here. The MSI Gaming X has 2 fans too, and I found a TechPowerUp article with the temps here. Side by side, I can't see a big difference. The higher idle temp on the Gaming X is because the fans aren't spinning if you're under a certain temp. threshhold. EVGA's card does that too, so I'd expect them to be mostly the same. From what I can see, the extra fan on the Gigabyte isn't doing much more than adding length to the card. They both have 2 8pin connectors, so overclocking will be a similar story.
  9. For a couple of years I've fantasized about building a Media Server/NAS hybrid and I've been looking around for cheap ways to do it. I've considered using an old laptop and just run a Plex server, since they're super easy an simple but the only laptop I have laying around to spare is a Netbook with 1 GB RAM and a single core Intel Atom CPU. So I'm kinda planning out what I should do for a proper lightweight media server. This is what I have so far: Cooler Master Elite 110 ASRock H81M-ITX Pentium G3258 3 MB Corsair SF Series SF600 (80 PLUS Gold) Crucial Ballistix Sport 2 x 8 GB WD Red WD30EFRX 3 TB Total: 500$ I'm not very experienced when it comes to server builds so I'd like to know if I'm doing anything wrong here. I've kinda followed the FreeNAS recommended specs, and put in a 80 PLUS Gold PSU for 24/7 operation. I build my brothers and father PC's with Crucial Ballistix Sport (8GB in their builds) and I haven't had any problems with them. In fact I've had more problems with my Corsair sticks than any Crucial ones. The Pentium G3258 is running in my dads PC and it performs super well for the price. I'm wondering if there are any other viable alternatives? Could a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B be a cheaper alternative? For OS I might install FreeNAS+miniDLNA, or simply go Ubuntu or even Windows 8.1. I'd like to keep the project at around 500$ - 550$
  10. It's just for Skype, gaming, and possibly some other misc. uses down the line. It's probably the ideal fit for my use, as I don't plan on broadcasting or anything. Thanks for the help! Much appreciated.
  11. The current Humble Bundle has Outlast in it for 1$, highly recommended. Alien Isolation is supposedly also really good. I'd recommend that you look through stuff Frictional Games have done. They're they guys behind Amnesia: The Dark Descent, SOMA, and Penumbra. If you get an emulator, you could also try Fatal Frame and Silent Hill. Sadly, the horror genre is filled with so much shovelware, that a lot of real game devs don't develop horror games.
  12. The stuff I read was the "Unable to install driver to USB device" error. On a further Google trip, there was an easy fix that worked for most people. And since you've had a meteor for 2 years, I doubt it'd be a big problem. I guess I'll just go with the Meteor. It's quite a good value too, and looks great. Question: How does the Meteor perform at, say, a 1 meter range?
  13. Backstory: 2 years ago, I fell for the scam, and bought a pair of Astro A40. To be honest, I'm surprised they lasted this long, given their 1-year warranty, anyway, this isn't about them. About 2 months ago, my microphone started having issues, but it wasn't too bad, so I decided to ignore it for the most part. It hasn't gotten that much worse, but at this point, it's a major annoyance. To the point: So, I've been looking around for some smaller desk microphones to replace the included detachable boom-mic. At this point, I'm really liking the look and formfactor of the Samson Meteor and Meteorite, however, from what I've heard they tend to break within a week or two. So does anyone know of similar products? Or has anyone here had a good experience with said microphones? Thanks in advance!
  14. Thanks they ahd the 5-port in stock and it arrived today. Works like a charm!
