  1. I'm not very well versed in the realm of home theater, but I recently picked up a Samsung UN50JU6500 on a sale from Best Buy, and I am very happy with my purchase. The TV is super sharp and the smart functions of it are pretty snappy, but the WiFi on the TV leaves a bit to be desired. (Although to be fair, it might just be Time Warner being terrible). It has also gotten pretty good reviews from what I've seen around on the internet! FYI, one of the top reviews on the Amazon page for the item describes how to adjust the picture settings to get a much better picture, and it helps a lot!
  2. This is more for video editing or 3D modeling, things along those lines. Unless game developers decide to make games that can use 32 cores haha
  3. 900D makes cable management impossibly easy
  4. Hey guys, sorry for the lack up updates recently! It was a nightmare trying to finish this build ASAP so I could enter it into a contest happening soon. Here are some of the pictures of the (nearly) finished build, I hope you guys like it!
  5. That was me It was a craigslist board so it was probably compromised before I even got a hold of it though!
  6. Yay or nay? The gold is the wrong color compared to the motherboard
  7. Thanks! I think i'll be alright, the Xeons don't even break 55 degrees C while under full load ha
  8. Just some cheap gold spray paint from the local hardware store
  9. Meh, it's an older CPU that there's an abundance of, not like many people will be using them in systems. Most of the unsold ones will be scrapped for raw materials anyway, so might as well make something cool out of it and recycle it.
  10. I say go for it! It's a pretty awesome conversation piece!
  11. You can get an LGA CPU on amazon pretty cheap http://www.amazon.com/Intel-Core-Duo-E4500-SLA95/dp/B00PRVITYQ/ref=sr_1_15?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1457576865&sr=1-15&keywords=intel
  12. Yeah, I also had a Pentium 4 lying around (with pins on it as well) but I didn't want it stabbing my leg or having to shave off all the pins
  13. So I got this old Pentium E5200 from my work, and I decided to take it to the drill press and the belt sander, and it turned out pretty awesome! I didn't realize how thick the IHS was on top of the die!
  14. The motherboard is not under warranty, as it was a craigslist purchase. I think it'd be out of the warranty period anyway ha
  15. So while removing the GPU from this craigslist build that I bought, I accidentally ripped off the plastic cover for the slot itself. Do you guys think the board could still function without this slot, maybe using a different x16 slot for the GPU?
  16. Probably like one of AMD's Firepro cooling solutions. Single slot, but full length.
  17. So the interior of the 900D seemed a bit too busy for me, and I had some acrylic lying around, so I did what any sane person would do and I put it to good use! I cut out some covers for the front area of the case, as well as a midplate to separate the PSU area from the rest of the system. Keep in mind though, that this is a very rough starting point, and I definitely do not have the right tools for the job Also they look a bit off here since they aren't actually mounted to anything yet Probably going to paint the acrylic gold, or add a design if I find a good one!
  18. Oooh! I'll have to try this out later tonight with my dual Xeon system!
