That is definitely not standard behavior, at first I thought the issue was the thermostat, the E39 I've been driving around notoriously dips below normal temperature when on the highway due to the thermostat staying open. Could be the thermostat failing on your Polo too, it fails to open so the water that is in the engine doesn't move to the radiator to get cooled off, resulting in overheating. Logically, it makes sense, but the improvement that came with replacing temperature sensors doesn't make much sense to me. It is rather weird too that after braking, the engine went back to normal on that situation you mentioned. I'd suggest taking it to somewhere just to check the thermostat's condition (if that is even a thing) or just replace it completely and see if that solves it.

The cars that have been made so far still exist... Of course by then they will probably be more expensive since new cars will be all hybrid and with engines downsized to the size of peas but we'll see. That doesn't mean you can't make fun small engines, but fun efficient engines are a whole different thing. "Why spend the money developing a fun car that sells when you can make a boring car that sells more and nets more profits?" That's what manufacturers think. It's all about the money babyy

My recommendations are Bridgestone Turanza T005, Toyo Proxes CF2, Falken FK510 or Hankook Ventus Prime 3 K125. These are the best tires from what I have been reading (only really have experience with the CF2s and those are only on one axle of the car I'm driving, can't really compare them with anything else) for someone who wants a decent midterm between full on performance tire and economy tire. Find whichever you can find that suits your Protege (weight ratings and the lot) and it should be fine. For my E34, I was considering the Hankooks for example, after being on a limbo between the Bridgestones and the Toyos, because of availability and price. Then again, that still hasn't happened so I can't really talk about them. https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre/Bridgestone/Turanza-T005.htm https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre/Toyo/Proxes-CF2.htm https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre/Falken/Azenis-FK510.htm https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre/Hankook/Ventus-Prime-3-K125.htm You can also take a look at tests they have in that website and gather some more information still: https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/2022-AMS-Performance-Summer-Tyre-Test.htm https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/2022-ADAC-Summer-Tyre-Test---15-Inch.htm And nice car! I love myself small sedans like those.

For all I know, they're sturdy engines. Wouldn't say a gearbox is prone to failure on any of those either. If you keep up with maintenance (not many BMW owners do), those cars are solid. Thing with BMWs is that parts are on the expensive side, they're no Honda or Toyota, but Volvo's are just as bad in that regard I find. Parts being expensive and maintenance being neglected, you have a recipe for disaster.

The one he's talking about. @OP I got away with using my phone as an antenna through USB tethering, not the best, but it worked.

How do you know that? Do you have access to my history? Did I or did I not watch the video? Maybe I did, maybe I didn't. Do I even have eyes to do so? Maybe I do, maybe I don't. Do I have a brain to process such information? Maybe I do, maybe I don't. As AlwaysFSX clears up in the quote below, I may not function at all after consuming severe amounts of diesel smoke provided by shit lazy tuners. You may never know. This gave me a good laugh.
