  1. I just finished building a new system yesterday. In this new build is an RTX 3070 FE. I had the system on and working yesterday, and this morning I played several hours of games until suddenly my monitors went black. I still had audio but no signal to the monitors at all. I did a forced shutdown and when I restarted there was still no output, not even the BIOS screen. I had my old GPU laying around so I popped it in and I was able to load into Windows fine, so it seems like it's definitely something to do with the new card. Does anybody have any suggestions? I have started the RMA process but if I can avoid being without a card for a while that'd be awesome. Thanks in advance for the ideas. 2. The committee has been performing a months-long investigation into the impact online information has on politics and democracy as a whole. Yesterday it published its preliminary report, and in it, among many other things, the committee recommends placing a levy on social media and tech companies to fund an effort in eliminating online misinformation. I feel the article explains it best: In addition to this recommendation, they also make several others, some of which are also highlighted in the article (linked below), including such things as: "A major increase in the maximum fine that can be levied by the Electoral Commission" "A ban on micro-targeted political advertising to lookalikes online" Forming a whole new regulatory category for tech companies The establishment of a “digital Atlantic Charter as a new mechanism to reassure users that their digital rights are guaranteed” The establishment of a global "Code of Ethics" for tech companies Subjecting tech companies to security and algorithmic auditing Requiring tech companies to disclose the targeting used for digital advertisements Establishing "clear legal liability for tech companies to act against harmful and illegal content on their platforms" There are others that I have not listed here, but I want to point out that last bullet point as particularly concerning. It sounds very reminiscent of the recent attempt by the EU to enact the Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market (i.e. that law that would hold sites liable for their users' content, thus undermining the open Internet). While this particular report is aimed at reducing misinformation and fake news rather than the sharing of copyrighted material, the negative impact would be the same. Holding site owners liable for user generated / posted content provides a number of barriers for smaller sites and companies that are unable to devote vast resources to monitoring every corner of their platform all the time. In addition to the above, the committee also goes on to call out Facebook directly several times, calling again on Mark Zuckerberg to appear as a witness in front of parliament, as well as accusing Facebook of not doing enough to stop the spread of hate against the Rohingya ethnic minority in Burma. The report even goes so far as to blame Facebook's actions for "undermining the UK’s international aid efforts in [Burma]." I strongly recommend reading the source article for more information, though it is quite long. 3. I'd think the bios is ok since I've tried on 2 separate boards and one has a dual bios chip
  4. I will give that a try as soon as I can.
  5. 24-pin and 8-pin CPU connectors are in and secured. SATA power to the drives appears secure as well.
  6. I can eliminate the video card since I have been doing these tests without it entirely with just the onboard graphics. The system does have windows 10 installed but I can't even choose boot media since I can't even reach the BIOS. Could An SSD cause this type of issue?
  7. Alright, so this issue has been ongoing for quite sometime. I have tried everything that I can personally think of to remedy the situation and I am now completely out of ideas. You guys have been very helpful in the past, so I have come here again seeking help. This issue all started back in late August when, seemingly out of nowhere, my PC got stuck in an infinite boot loop. This happened suddenly with no provocation whatsoever. My motherboard at the time (MSI Gaming 5 z97) was giving me debug code 03 (Northbridge Init) right before it attempted to boot again. After this happened I took it apart and reseated the CPU, RAM, cables, and GPU, then attempted to power on again. This time I got code 26 (Southbridge Init) with the same infinite boot loop. I was convinced that I had a damaged part and assumed based on this that it was either the CPU or the motherboard. Not sure which, I sent in both for RMA requests. Fast forward a few weeks and I have a NEW CPU and NEW motherboard. I attempt to power up after reconnecting everything and now I am not getting a post, also the onboard debug leds on the new motherboard display nothing. This made me consider that possibly I had gotten a defective replacement motherboard, so I purchased a brand new board on Amazon and got it rush shipped. Put everything together, same problem, no post. I have verified that the monitor isn't the issue, and have been using onboard graphics for these tests. I have tried just about every common troubleshooting step I can think of and still no results. I was hoping someone here might be able to give me direction as to what part to examine for a failure. 8. P.S. - This computer has been running completely flawlessly for over a year and a half now, this just happened today.
  9. Hello everyone, I am having an issue with my computer. Specs for reference: MB- MSI Gaming 5 z97 CPU- Intel i5 4690k quad core RAM- 16GB (2x8GB) HyperX Fury DDR3 GPU- Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming PSU- EVGA SuperNova 750w SSD- 256GB Samsung 850 EVO HDD- 1TB WD Black Case- Fractal Design Define R4 black windowed Addin Card- Gigabyte wifi / Bluetooth PCIe Card Alright, so this just started happening out of nowhere. I went to turn on my PC and it was stuck in a boot loop with code 03. I read that this may be a RAM issue so I reseated the RAM in an attempt to fix. Now I am still stuck in a loop, but the code is now 26. I have done everything I can think of. I removed the CPU and wiped off a bit of extra thermal paste, changed the RAM around into different slots, tried with only one stick installed, cleared CMOS, still nothing. I'm continuing to get the same code 26 which I know is "Early Memory Initialization" but I cannot think of anything else. Does anyone have any ideas? I would really appreciate any and all help I can get! Thanks.
  10. Hey guys, I've been talking to a friend of mine and he has been interested in getting into PC gaming. He is weighing the options between a pre-built rig and something custom right now and I'm trying to help him out. You guys were able to help me design and pick out parts for my more expensive rig a little over a year ago so I'm back for some more advice please! He is looking to spend no more than $600USD on it and he lives in the States. It's primarily for gaming and the build doesn't have to include any peripherals. That $600 should also include Windows. In addition to that, if in your opinion it'd be better to buy a pre-built machine instead for that price let me know. Thanks for your help!

  12. That's a pretty solid answer! Thanks. Also I didn't know CX PSUs aren't as good? When I built the system I thought it was a decent choice. I'll definitely look into upgrading, what kind of wattage would be reasonable for a build like that to leave overclocking headroom? If there is a specific model can you list it as well so I can look at it.
  13. Now I know that most people will want to say PC right away but I'm trying to figure out which option will give me the best experience. I could buy it for Xbox One or for my PC. PC specs are as follows: Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming 4GB Intel i5 4690k Quad Core CPU w/ Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO cooler 1TB WD Black HDD 120GB Intel 530 Series SSD 23" Gateway KX2303 60Hz IPS monitor MSI Gaming 5 Z97 Motherboard Corsair CX550M Power Supply Fractal Design Define R4 Case What are your opinions? Is my PC powerful enough to give me a good experience or should I go the easy route and get a console copy? Thanks for your help!
  14. I figured someone would catch sight of me there.
  15. Hey guys! I finally finished my first build. I'm pretty satisfied with how it turned out, my goal was to build a powerful gaming PC that would be able to handle modern day triple-A titles without completely breaking the bank. I made the decision a few months ago to join the PC gaming crowd and leave my console behind. I'm excited to see what you guys think of this build.
