I ended up buying the m40x's, the seller claimed he bought new earpads so perhaps it'll be okay in the comfort department. I'll find out soon enough if they will be travel worthy!

Looking for the best (I know sound is subjective) sounding headphones for music (mostly alt rock) and movies. Source will be likely from my phone or my laptop. Gaming performance would be a plus. I'm going on a trip where I'm going to be flying most of the day and I need something to isolate a lot of the sound. I really don't want to get earbuds or noise cancelling headphones unless cost and audio quality is similar to non cancelling headphones. From reviews I've thought of 3 possible contenders (in the title), but left a question mark for a possible addition. Thanks!

I mean I could get a card reader like the guy above linked. But I'm picky and kind of want just a direct cord kind of like a Sata 3 to usb 3.0 would be. Just curious if there is such thing out there. If not I can settle for a clunky hub LOL.
