  1. i want to run Stable Diffusion on my pc and i saw that if i dont have Nvidia or Intel GPU i need a replacement for the cuda cores. some places asked me to use a special version of driver 22.11.1 but i found this driver which is 23.1.2 that is a normal release and not forked. i was wondering if all subsequent releases have this feature (i currently have 23.4.3) or do i have to downgrade my driver?
  2. i dont think they will ever stop streaming or uploading to YT unless another platform overtakes them like YT did VINE. but i did think that maybe they will share their upcoming updates only on floatplain since YT is unavailable and they might think "if yt itself is going to make our lives harder by not helping in this matter, why should we go out of our way to come back sooner?" and it will be a good oprotunity to pull people to their FP platform. lmg clips, tech linked, movies, for fun channel and the apple one.
  3. hope linus or someone would just get their phone and record something to LMG clips since its still up. or maybe a another website like twitter and post the link here
  4. i have a steel series rival 3 and it just so happenes that it has really low friction with my mousepad. the mouse is so light that i can feel the cable's effect on my movement, usualy a little resistance that tries to spin the mouse a bit to one side. and if i don't put anything on the cable, and let it slack behind the desk, it sometimes pulls the mouse when i dont hold it. i know its a 1st world problem, but does anyone has a trick or a "hack" to make it a bit more comfortable?
  5. idk why you need 2 seperate OSs but win 10 and 11 can run linux virtualization with full integration with your windows so you can transfer files between one another. but up to 8 gb ram. idk if that helps. as for the specs, you gave a wide range. add what you need to pc for and what is the performance range you need. for example: this will help people know exact limits and what you prioritize, best price, or best performance in the range you gave
  6. will this thread be updated for 30 series and AMD gpus?
  7. i don't trust fingerprint scanners to be off, just like how laptops now have physical chutters for cameras. i checked it out and decided not to buy due to lack of other features like water/dust protection.
  8. okay, idk why this thread got attention in the last few days when i posted it half a year ago.... anyway, i wanted a phone that was just designed outside china like venomail assumed. the assembly it self doesn't matter to me since the company who made the designs probably has some QA procedures that would see if the chinese made any alterations. in the end i bought the Sony Xperia 5 IV, which was just a bit over what i wanted to spend but was the only phone that checked all the boxes. i have had it for about 2 months now and its pretty good. i love the upgrade to the battery life, i don't need to wait on apps to load anymore, and the sync with the sony headphones works better, there is no damn bixby button. but there are negatives: the OS is worse than samsung's, sony headphones still can't conenct to google assistant for some reason, i had trouble with some less popular apps like notify for miband(cause annoying glitches with notifications) and a few other minor details. even tough it was a bit late, thanks for the recommendation! ill keep it in mind for the next upgrade in 3 years to check viability!
  9. my friend started his college studies in biochimestry and it appears his old laptop is not enough anymore (intel 7th gen with 8gb mem and a limping battery). its been a while since i looked for a laptop, and idk how to search for one without a dedicated GPU so help me please. his requirements: MUST not big (so 15.6 or smaller) num pad high battery life (high as can be but there's no specific number) 16gb ram or more i5/i7 ro r5/r7, powerful enough to run r. SSD 128gb or more (while total storage is x>256) PREFERED backlit keyboard screen with >=300nits and/or can go low brightness for energy saving. good kayboard (will write alot) a way to connect to a tablet\ipad (i guess to transfer handwritten notes from lectures and homework) spec that will last for the duration of the degree (3yr) or more NICE TO HAVES touch screen nice sound for movies OR bluetooth for headphones ram expansion slots USES: there is NO requirement for gaming since he games on a PS4. movies and web browsing the main use will be studies which means a lot of writing papers and some and coding in python and R. he said he'll code with linux but idk yet if he will need to install the OS on a partition, run it on a VM or use an ssh to a college server. so if there are any biochemists here who know if he needs a GPU to run R code on a VM then please let me know. the reason he prefers a new laptop is because he has a scholarship that gives him about 850USD to spend on a laptop, and the rest he will get out of pocket. i'd appreciate any suggestion on how to search, personal experience on specific models. but if you are someone who like to help find the laptop right where i am then bless your sould, and here is a link of a site that searches stores in my country with google translate (budget up to 4500NIS): https://www-zap-co-il.translate.goog/models.aspx?sog=c-pclaptop&_x_tr_sl=iw&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp
  10. Hey, I work as a security guard and one of the cameras has weird artifacts showing on screen which I have seen only on demonstrations of radioactivity. and that is the only camera that does this so does anyone know or artifacting like that beside RA? here is a video of the security camera: https://youtu.be/fkEzfwtlmek Here is a video of someone showing the effects of RA on digital cameras: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVGpYAatb8E if this isn't the right place to ask, can you please point me to a place that is?
  11. i found this YT video and its pretty straight forward, but i cant get the smile off my face after imagining people starting shouting at their computers to check this
  12. i checked the xperia line up and its almost exactly what i need! too bad they don't sell them in my country... might need to ask for family that live in the US to send it to me. though i will have no way to service it here, it might still be worth it rather than staying with my current phone.
  13. well, i haven't jail broken any phone since 2010 so i'd raher avoid that though i look into it if my searchs run dry on the HW side of things. but from what it looks like, the xperia lineup looks good to me. just need to wait for the iv to launch, find reviews and then find a place to buy it.
  14. thanks, there is s10 available here (we are lagging behind almost in everything) but i wanted a bigger step up. sounds good, im now looking into which one is better fir me 1/5/10 iii/iv i have been using that site to check specs and where the scanner is in each phone but i missed the refined search option, thanks!
  15. hey, im looking for a new phone but i can't find one that fits my reqs which are quite spesific. i want a headphone jack (thought the jack-less trend was over, guess not) and not from apple or a chinese manufacturer. lastly i don't wan't in screen fingerprint scanner (side/rear scanner is fine), or at least a way to physically disable it if someone know of a way. (maybe spesific screen protectors?) my price range is about 600 USD, so around the price of the galaxy s21 or pixel 6 (though those 2 have scanners) im currently using galaxy s9 since it was the latest s series form samsung that didn't have the scanner.
  16. okay so the actual question is how much wafers didintel make for alder lake in the last month. i have a friend that work in intel and they gave the employees a few questions, the closest one to the actual numbers wins a gaming rig. my friend has his fab numbers (which obviously cannot be shared online) but the data is incomplete to make an acurate calculation. so we need your help! all i could find online was that intel makes about 887k wafers a month in total. and that israel exports 3.6b worth of wafers each year. but those numbers alone don't indicate a thing since one is global, the other is monetary, and they are both for all wafers and not only alder lake. do you guys know anything else about the fab lines? the distribution of the manufacturing capacity between each country? any info from ltt staff that visited intel fab and is allowed to share? and for those who are interested: the rig has 12900k + 3080 + 32gb ddr5. so, my friend, who only has a 4 years old laptop, really wants to win this one . p.s. my friend was out sick when ltt visited his workplace so we couldn't say hi.
  17. yeah i checked and for the lenovo the TDP is 130W, asus is 95W and thanks for your opinion on the Legion Pro!
  18. BACKGROUND: i have a gaming PC on which i do most of my gaming and work when im at home. currently i work in a job where i study and game during my shifts and my current laptop is 5 years old already, with problematic keyboard, no battery, and the performance has dropped significantly (to the point that even LoL stutters if other applications are open, can't even run AC:origins on 800x600) even though i cleaned it and reapplied thermal paste (obviously after it started to chug). NEEDS: mostly work (so numpad) and games (preferably something that can run modern games on medium settings for at least a year or 2, to continue saves from PC). i currently have a 4k display on my laptop and its garbage so i think i prefer 1080p but won't complain if 1440p. i don't really care about rgb or looks, only that i have backlit keyboard for low light if needed. Must haves: headphone+mic, ethernet, 16gb ram minimum. Nice to haves(not a must): tb ssd, webcam, bluetooth, medium-long battery life (when not gaming) and wifi 6. CONCERNS: idk if 3060 is a too high of a bar since according to HardwareUnboxed video it can run modern games on high settings at +50fps , or should i go for 3050 or 3050 ti. i barely saw a difference between the 11800H and the 5800H. any advice? i saw a laptop with 144hz, 250 nits, NTSC 45%, SRBG 62.5%, adobe 47.34%. is it as bad i i think it is or is it irrelevant/minor? should i just wait for the chip shortage to subside more? here are 3 laptops i that looked nice (basic info, there are links for more details):
  19. yeah, just update turns out it was a known issue that got addressed in the following driver update...
  20. i usually keep it on, sometimes put it to sleep (not hybernate), but that day one of my games started to act weird due to some mods that installed (unrelated) so i thought a restart will solve it, so i restarted and then the pc started to have problems. (those mods have been removed since). i also scanned for viruses with nod32, nothing.
  21. i had to restart my pc a few days ago and since then some games have started to drop frames: risk of rain 2 - every few seconds drop to single digit or low teen fps. LoL - every once few seconds, maybe once a minute, 50~70% fps drop. GPU heavey games (like horizon zero dawn and witcher 3) - no meaningful drops. all drivers and windows are up to date, i don't remember updating anything right before the problem started. i have't seen any irregular temps and tried to restart the pc since the problem started but it didn't help. i have a hunch it has something to do with the CPU but it won't pass the 40% cpu utilization and monitoring cores with ryzen master didn't show any cores reaching 4.7 Ghz when stuttering so idk. i am attaching a log files from AMD app with my PC's cpu and gpu logs for 20 minutes games. ( which for some reason dropped frames but much less then other times... i swear my pc hates me) i preformed a spymark test and compared to last time i did that (a year ago) now i got better result on my gpu (15316 vs 14557) and slightly worse on my cpu (7745 vs 7900). PC Spec: 5600X stock R6800 stock (driver v.22.4.1) corsair vengeance ddr4 4x8gb 3600Mhz Cl18 Asus prime b550-plus (BIOS 2006) all games running from crucial 1TB SSD which is seperate from OS SSD (gigabyte 1TB) + 2 Hdd for storage hyper 212 spectrum coolermaster 750w gold pfc modular corsair 4000d airflow windows win 10 pro 21H2 64bit (build no. 19044.1645) LoL.CSV RoR2.CSV
  22. i used to have Bose QC 20, which is a wired noise canceling earphones, and it was great, until it went missing durin a vacation with friends. with 2hrs charge it lasted for 16 hours of NC, when it was on the sounds was pretty good, but off it was really bad, but i could charge it while it was still playing so it was never off. bose discontinued the production of these in favour of wireless version and headphones version, so i can't find them anywhere (except the iOS version). i try to avoid wireless earbuds since i lose things easily and i want to be able to listen to whatever i want without the constraints of charging (QC20 needs battery only for the NC), and i already have overear headphones. so any one got somewhere i can buy QC20 or can suggest an alternative? here is the QC20 site: https://www.bose.com/en_us/support/products/bose_headphones_support/bose_in_ear_headphones_support/qc20.html rtings review
  23. earlier in the thread there is a video that shows how to make an external vm adapter which is not the default one and it worked great for me(10Mbps). then you go the the vm settings and change the adapter to the new one
