could you try running the pixel clock timing patcher, it might work, i dont know
I tried this, did not work unfortunately. Thank you for the help I appreciate it.

My monitor only has 1 DP1.4 Port while having 2 HDMI 2.1 Ports, I did see this as being the case for some other monitors though. I tried plugging in both HDMI and DisplayPort at the same time and it did not work.

Maybe, does the card have DP 1.4? Is the cable DP 1.4?
https://www.xfxforce.com/gpus/amd-radeon-tm-rx-580-gts-xxx-edition-8gb-4 this is the spec sheet of my GPU, it has DisplayPort 1.4. I am using the cable that the monitor came with, so I am assuming it is DisplayPort 1.4 since the HDMI cable they gave me supports up to 8k. Not sure where to go from here

Probably not enough bandwidth, I highly doubt an older card like that has newer HDMI versions that support 4K 144/120.
Shouldn't the display port 1.4 at least be enough to work though? I believe DisplayPort 1.4 supports 4k 144/120.

So let me just start off by saying I am not trying to play games at 4k 144 Hz. I just want the monitor to display at 4k 144hz. I bought this monitor to play on my PS5.
I bought a Gigabyte M28u Monitor https://www.gigabyte.com/Monitor/M28U#kfand for some reason I cannot get my monitor to display at 4k 144hz. It only goes up to 4k 60 fps but has options for 1440p 144hz and 1080p 144hz. I have tried both the HDMI and DisplayPort cable included with the monitor and so far nothing has worked.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can get this to work?

Hello everyone I am having trouble deciding on which monitor to use as my main monitor. I don't really understand displays that well so I was hoping someone here can help me out.
So I currently use a LG 24MP60VQ 24' 1080P (https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-24MP60VQ-P-led-monitor) as my main monitor, and it has served me very well and seems like a overall good monitor. However, I just got an older Dell U2711 Ultrasharp 2560x1440 (https://www.dell.com/ae/business/p/dell-u2711/pd) for free from a friend.
I plugged in the Dell using HDMI and the quality seemed pretty bad compared to my LG, but I just assumed it was because the HDMI doesn't support the 2560x1440 on the Dell so I ordered a display port cable instead to hook that up to the dell so I can see how good it really is. So my question is, is the Dell monitor even better? Like based on looking at the specs, is one monitor better than the other? I just want to know so I don't get my hopes up before the cable comes lol.

If the card takes an 8-pin, then connect an 8-pin PCI-E cable to it.
If it takes only a 6-pin, plug only a 6-pin in.
One card brand and mode will vary from one another.
The Sapphire Pulse 5600 XT may only need one 8-pin, while the NITRO+ 5600XT is two 8-pins.
Okay that makes sense. I thought that was the case but I couldn't find anything for sure online. Thank you

Some cards are just more power hungry so they require more connectors.
2 minutes ago, Fasauceome said:6+2 = 8 pin, for PCIe power cables.
Even without the pictures (they seem to have not loaded in), it's doubtful that you messed something up. The ends are keyed so that you can't plug them into the wrong place, and with a non modular power supply, you can't have put the wrong end into the graphics card.
Moreover, most PSUs have labelled cables, so you probably saw the one that said "PCIe" and guessed correctly where it went
1 minute ago, ishapli8 said:You only need the 6+2 pin.
I forgot to add the pictures when I first made the post sorry lmfao. But based on what you guys are all saying about the 6+2 connector, and by the picture I have with it plugged in, it's plugged in correctly right? Sorry I am a noob and just want to make sure
-
Hey everyone so I am almost done with my build, I just need to make sure I plugged in my graphics card correctly then I can go for the first boot. I'm seeing a lot of different stuff online for the graphics cards and pins and it is really confusing me.
My graphics card seems to only have an 8 pin connector but I'm reading that some have 2, and some can only be plugged in with 6 pins. I read the manual and got more confused lol. My psu cable is also a 6+2 pin cable If that changes anything.
My graphics card is a Sapphire pulse 5600 xt, the dual display port and dual hdmi model. And I have a non modular power supply. I have attached some pictures and I will be very thankful if someone can tell me if I did this correctly thank you all

Just like any other split connector like a 6+2 PCIe or 4+4 EPS the 24 pin can be split into a 20 and a 4, mostly done to keep compatability with hardware made 15 years ago

Hello everyone I am almost done with my pc build but I am confused about the atx motherboard connector.
So I bought a non modular power supply (which I deeply regret, was hard to find anything else at time) and I am trying to connect it to the motherboard but it is split into two pieces (shown in pictures). Every video I've seen so far the cable has been 1 piece so I am really confused. Do I just connect the left over 4 pin connector right next to the 20 pin connector on the slot, similar to how the CPU plug works?
Here are some pictures demonstrating what I am confused about

Hey y'all so I just started my new build and I accidentally dropped the stock 3600 cooler when I was reaching for it (fell like 2 inches) and some of thermal paste came off. I can't tell if I should I apply more or not (I bought some extra thermal paste) so of someone can help me out I will be very thankful

The windforce is shit. Get the Pulse. Also, avoid the EVGA KO cards - the cooler is one of the worst available, even worse than the 5600 Windforce from gigabyte. The 2060 KO has heat and noise issues that mean you either run the card at 90*C or it sounds like a vacuum at 80*C
On 7/4/2020 at 8:45 PM, Chris Pratt said:I would. Check out this video:
The Windforce makes the list of the worst 5600 XT cards, due to fan noise and bad thermals. Interestingly Gigabyte makes another card, the Gaming OC, which is a top pick, alongside the Sapphire PULSE, though the Sapphire still beats it out.
It's just $20 more for the Sapphire on Amazon, no rebate required. That seems worth it.

The AsRock Challenger cooler is really loud, doesn't cool as well, and it's a lower tier cooler design vs the Phantom and Red Devil versions.
EDIT:
The Sapphire Pulse 5600 XT is also uses a really good cooler; definitely one of the top ~5 GPU coolers.

Hey I just wanted to update everyone thanks for all your help. I canceled the gigabyte order and got the sapphire pulse model instead. I'm happy I did because it's the same price as the gigabyte model without the rebate, and who really has the time to wait for it to come back. I just have to wait an extra day but I think it will be well worth it, and now I have Amazon's return policy instead of Neweggs crappy policy, thank you all

Hey ya'll everyone in this forum has been so kind in helping me with my build, so thank you and bless you all, I am finally ready to purchase my last part. I have already purchased two graphics cards and cancelled them, and cancelled a bunch of other stuff as well but I am finally almost done.
So the Graphics card I want to buy is the 5600 XT. I originally purchased the gigabyte windforce model because it was the cheapest, but this forum convinced me to pruchase the Sapphire pulse model instead because it has way better thermals and stuff. But I am confused because the graphics card says PCIe 4,0, and I don't think my motherboard has PCIe 4,0, so now I am really confused and don't know what to do. So if someone could please advise if the card is compatible with my build (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CBNdhg) my motherboard is the MSI b450 tomahawk max
And also if anyone wants to give me any last second reccomendations, go ahead before I go crazy lmfao

The 5600 XT beats the pants off the 1660. It's no contest. Driver issues have been largely resolved. If you have a choice, I'd recommend the Sapphire PULSE. It's has the among the best performance of the 5600 XTs and also some of the best thermals (not all are created equal). The Gigabyte version is actually an underperformer. Not horrible, just middling performance and thermals. Not familiar with ASRock version.

Ok y'all so you see the problem is I just bought the Gigabyte windforce model lol, should I try to cancel it and get a different card or nah, it's 259 after rebate. Also this would be about the 5th time during my build where I've canceled something and bought it again. Please advise. I could use the extra money for a wifi card or something.

Thank you to everyone who responded I just pulled the trigger on the 5600 xt

Ok everyone so I am about to finish my build (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Kd8gMc) but I need to choose a graphics card. So I originally bought a 1660 super to go with then i saw there was a deal for the 5600 xt for 259.99 after $20 rebate on newegg. I really wanted to get the 5600 xt originally but I read about horrible issues with drivers and such and that steered me away, but when I saw that price it had me thinking. Should I go for the 1660 Super or the 5600 xt?
And if I do go for the 5600 xt which is the most stable/best card to buy?
These are the 5600 xt cards I was considering:
https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-radeon-rx-5600-xt-gv-r56xtwf2oc-6gd/p/N82E16814932246?Description=5600 xt&cm_re=5600_xt-_-14-932-246-_-Product (this one is the deal)

I'd go for a CX 550m for a build like this it's a decent PSU with more than enough wattage. And if you can spend a bit more you can get a 5600xt it is on par with the RTX 2060. You get much more performance for your money this way.
So your build would look like this:
And looking at your current PSU, it more than enough tbh (between tier B and C, which is enough for the specs of your build) you can keep it and still get the most out of your PC. And don't worry about overclocking, it's not worth putting the effort into it. Your 3600 boosts really aggressively near it's limits anyways, and GPUs have GPU boost which is also pretty aggressive.
Thank you for your detailed response. I was strongly thinking about the 5600xt but I couldn't figure out which brand card to buy, because I've heard alot about driver issues and didn't really want the headache.
Is the gigabyte card you linked a good one? I am thinking about cancelling/returning the 1660s order. But Neweggs shitty return policy is holding me back. Please advise

Hello everyone I am pretty much done with my build all my parts are coming in soon but I am having second thoughts about my power supply. My knowledge on power supplies is wack so when I saw one go on stock on buildapcsales I impulse bought it because a lot of stuff is out of stock.
Here is my current build list
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LCXQHBHere is the power supply I bought for $76
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WC79PPN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_G7maFb66PDXQ0As far as I am aware the power supply is "okay" for my current build but I would like some flexibility in over clocking. Should I keep my power supply or get another one? And if anyone knows any good power supplies under $100 I'd really appreciate it

Hello everyone so I am currently in the process of building my new gaming PC however I don't understand how NVME m.2 slots work or PCI slots.
The motherboard I am using for my build is a MSI B450 Tomahawk Max (https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B450-TOMAHAWK-MAX/Specification). I wanted to get a 1tb M.2 SSD along with a 2tb HDD for my build, but I was confused because I read that if I use the m.2 slot I will disable my sata ports, so I am now unsure if I can even use the m.2 slot. So if someone can point out what I am missing here and/or point me in the right direction of what ssds and HDDs to buy I will be very thankful.
Also sorry if this is a stupid question, I plan on getting a PCI wifi card for my build too and I read that some ssds use PCI slots so now I am worried if the wifi card will interfere with my 1tb SSD and 2tb HDD build.
Here is a list of what parts I have so far (change motherboard with MSI tomahawk max I am returning the gigabyte motherboard)

I didn't include the psu because the one you have is good like @Stahlmann98 said and the gpu I didn't include either. But here are some of my suggestions mainly the same as you had previously.

Completed your list for you: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/swWPp8
I'd reccommend the 1660 Super over the RX 580 because basically it's newer, has some nice NVIDIA exclusive features and is about the same, if not even a little bit better performance.
Edit: I kept the parts you already included because i guess you already bought the CPU, mobo, RAM and PSU like you said.
Edit 2: Updated the included GPU to a better model, the 10$ more will be worth if for the much better cooler and PCB design.
Thank you for your help. I am probably going to go the 512gb SSD 2TB HDD route as I had a 128gb ssd 1 tb hdd system and got along just fine.
And also what do you think about me getting the 1650S instead of a rx580? For some reason I can't justify spending the extra money on a 1660s, would rather spend it on windows lol. But If I go the cheaper route I will probably upgrade down the line when new gpus are realeased. What do you think
PC Keeps booting to bios and NVME ssd not showing up in boot Priority anymore
in Troubleshooting

Hello everyone so I am having trouble with main and only ssd at the moment.
So basically today all of a sudden my pc started booting into bios anymore and I can't get it to go into windows anymore. It was working just fine until today. My SSD shows up in storage configuration but not boot Priority, boot Priority is empty.
I think this may have happened after the PC was forced to shutdown. The power cable at the back of my pc was loose and I was taking it in and out while it was on (pretty dumb in retrospect please dont flame me for this) so that may have caused an issue. I'm not really roo sure where to start as my motherboard and SSD are not that common. Please help
