  1. I think most people don't realize that's even possible. Then there's also the win+arrow keys, or win+shift+arrow key (multiple screens) for the keyboard power users... every millisecond counts!
  2. Not waiting for a Thinkpad X3? Thinkpad X1 Carbon but Lighter, Haswell, IPS 2560x1440 screen.... http://www.slashgear.com/lenovo-thinkpad-x3-leak-tips-4th-gen-core-i3-i7-cpu-and-qhd-screen-23302722/
  3. Sorry, I meant velvet/ velour... whatever they call it haha. http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/category.cgi?item=AT-135409020-VELVET The stock m50's cups are probably like your brainwavz... and give me pain in under an hour. Bending headbands helped, but still hate that humid feeling. But after ghetto swapping some old pads velour pads on, it worked wonders. In fact, you could probably just do this: http://www.head-fi.org/t/581298/brainwavz-hm3-review-with-video/15#post_8380560
  4. Ah, ok. I thought the second one was a gameplay example since the first was just a "auto-play" screen. Wasn't expecting a TV to be a variable in the comparison. My samsung TV has lag like that too... I have to turn off all extra processing/smoothing to reduce it... but still more than in monitor mode. Whatever happened to that separate processor for "streaming" on the PS4?
  5. If you get M50's get a pair of felt cups (makes a world of a difference in comfort!). I like that the M50's headband is "bend it as you wish" and stays. The headphone should adjust to you and not you to headphone. I don't have Hd558, but from the looks it's pretty confortable like my hd650's... as long as you don't have a big head.
  6. Wii U delays the output to monitor... duh. It's designed for simultaneous interaction. Look at second video. A comparison with nvidia sheild would be more appropriate.
  7. Finally got new batteries for my x301. 48Wh (agptek) vs 43.2Wh (lenovo) This AGPTEK packaging is no joke B)
  8. who cares about video playback, we need more power for eye candy and fancy wallpapers and data collection first! scrolling smoothness... errr.. who cares about that too
  9. If anything, it's probably for developer reasons (or because they don't want people gaming on the computers  ).... like making chrome work better on OSX? [rant] OSX is great isn't it... lousy windows re-sizing, improper folder syncing, task dock that can't handle more than a few running apps and can't return minimized items without mouse clicking, needs another drive just to recover anything... Bad hardware experience? Overheated hard drives? Just get the latest model with SSD and more efficient processors. How can you feel bad with all the sexy aluminum, I'm sure you can forgive apple for the lack of engineering of vibration and heat dissipation. Oh yeah, forget about real buttons plus use the high latency track pads... will feel like flying through the air. People buy super cheap "PC's" and then then complain about build quality. This compounded by Dell and HP bloating up the computers. If people spent $1K-2K on high end laptops or business versions (with no bloatware), it blows the doors off the macs. [/rant]
  10. That sucks. Sounds similar to instances where there are little smudges left on motherboard (looked like somebody used too much flux) and it was cited at liquid damage.
  11. Nice project. a couple of things. camera in wall for video calls =). If you had a LEAP motion to add on, that would be cool too. kitchen = grease. Hope Monitor can be easily cleaned. (assuming your talking about TV in kitchen your remodeling) protect hardware from falling dust/particles in wall (a shroud on top o setup maybe) Alternative hardware: I guess you already got the components (but I'll just put it out there in case it might be helpful to anyone) A nuc i3 or i5 or similar system. Smaller, and would be easier in the case of troubleshooting (and mounting). For motherboard a Q87 chipset would allow the whole setup can be controlled and administered through just a network cable.
  12. somebody's not going to get a Press card next time
  13. I'm for continued unboxing but with quick first impressions. Especially if it's a unique product. I'm not a fan of unboxing of common products just to read the box and say what's inside. I find it more useful when products are unboxed and use right away, and first impressions from there.. and also plans for testing (if any but not mandatory. Maybe some vote on usage scenarios ). for example, and unboxing of a AIO cooler is: - unbox and install - then just state plans for test... ie, will do standard test and ~maybe test it with delta fans! no seriously... Look at the new scyth grand flex fans.. quiet but power when needed. - poll for usage scenarios? I think you still do a great job already testing products in different situation. But for exampl, I would like to add a sound not considered cooling test. Because sometime you just don't care if its noisy or not even in room (when folding)... but probably not popular due to the popularity of silence only usage. another example: headphones or speakers... - unbox and try them on or hear them. Like one would do in a store or audio shop listening area. At least some quick impressions that are practical.
  14. I had to debug one using a camera because it went so fast (this way I can replay the sequence of debug codes ). Have you tried with only onboard graphics without graphics card attached? Or maybe even different slots?
  15. reached my evga quota for month so back on here =). Those beta jobs for the zeta cores sure are handy. still not getting the point of "passkey"
  16. Thanks, but that dsp seems like it's for conversion... like the sample which is stereo to begin with. I'm looking for proper playback or passthrough ac3/dts/multi-channel surround encoded music. Like from this artist http://www.lynnemusic.com/surround.html. I have a receiver so it does the decoding. If played through a surround speaker setup and not "fake" surround headphone, it can be quite immersive. I can't say it will be amazing every time as it depends on the recording, but I can say for certain that it doesn't sound like shit. Ended up with extra speakers, and just been checking it out (even though they have recording surround music for ages). Because music videos is also music... and I have a lot of music videos. I'm old school you know.. I want my MTV! Foobar2000 natively supports reading audio from many video files so that's a plus (even webm files from *cough* y**t*** )
  17. Winamp had so much potential, but they just let the code sit and rot at aol. Audio and video support. Foobar2000 is good... but needs video support. Can't play flv files, and surround audio (still looking for a workaround).
  18. Was just checking the specs on the two models. I guess not surprisingly, the one costing more will be faster. The lower costing two are lower powered fanless designs. http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/939/AMD_C-Series_C-70_vs_AMD_E2-Series_E2-1800.html It looks like it's only a little bit faster than the older model I have. http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/992/AMD_E-Series_E-350_vs_AMD_E2-Series_E2-1800.html
  19. Something like this: SilverStone 23mm tall Argon AR04 cooler http://hexus.net/tech/news/cooling/62421-silverstone-launches-23mm-tall-argon-ar04-cooler/
  20. Check the time in the IPMI... it's not synced with system clock so it might a bit off (most likely due to how IT management can vary in locations). I couldn't get the NTP setting to work before, but after I just upgraded my IPMI firmware it finally works! using pool.ntp.org. *facepalm*... for some reason I kept thinking that was cpu temperature. Great thing is that you can update while system is up and running . Use the web interface and uncheck "retain settings". Looks like your right, IPMI just reads from a subset. I guess it's more for IT management and not tweaking purposes. It was easy to check if system is running ok. Looking at HWinfo64, there's a separate figure for IPMI and the Nuvonton chip (left part of screenshot). I have Sunon 100+ CFM 80mm but too much motor/bearing noise. I'm curious of how well the 120's you ordered will perform. There's a fan control in the "IPMI devices" tab... though it turns up everything (turn it up when your out of room  ) Nice. What fans are they? Sounds like these?
  21. I guess you mean 3K. so : 1920 x 1080 => 2k 2880 x 1620 => 3k 3840 x 2160 => 4k Right now theres: 2560 x 1080 , good for ultrawide movie and gaming 2560 x 1440 , close to 3k and getting cheaper 2560 x 1600, still very expensive. edit: then there's the video connection issues... IMHO, they should just get rid of "TV" and make all screens monitors and people buy TV modules.
  22. Or video and audio editing, as long as the edits tasks at hand are not color correction related.
