Honestly I trust Sony more than other companies to make good games so I would rather have Sony own Bungie than have some other big company buying them and ruining them. Honestly I think console companies are better about trying to create compelling games to attract people to buy their consoles rather than being like EA and just releasing a ton of crap games every year just so they can make money on the game sales.

I would like to see evidence that Bungie isn't a ruined company at this point. The only thing Bungie has is destiny, which is just a cow being squeezed dry at this point. While this is pure speculation on my part Sony just wants to jump in on the destiny milk and maybe as a bonus put some new IP on their play-stations. Sony is a business first and foremost. They don't care if their money comes from selling 20 million god of war copies or the 10 people buying all the micro transactions in destiny 2 remembering the good ol days when they did raids in destiny with their friends.

  2. I got this 1080 pretty cheap, but it came with a caveat that the fan chassis falls off, hence the little wooden blocks supporting it.  Once I actually got it a few more problems made themselves clear.

(I have a gigabyte gtx 1080 windforce oc)

    1. Any considerable load on the gpu makes it throttle at 93 celcuis with the fans spinning at 100% rpms.

    2. The middle fan doesn't like to spin at all. It sticks out a little and if you push it in and give it spin it'll will spin at like 10-100 rpms for 30 seconds before stopping again

    3. The 2 outer fans push a considerable amount of air to the point where the cooler itself is indiscernible from room temperature, yet it still throttles at 93 celcuis.

    Spoiler

Here's the picture of the middle fan not spinning

Here's the ebay sellers response as to what they did to break the GPU

I don't want to return it as after finally getting a graphics card I don't want to go back to playing in windowed mode at 720p minimum settings in a 10 year old game. So if you guys have some ideas as to what to do I'll welcome them with open arms. I have a few ideas myself being that I need to remount the cooler with new thermal paste and maybe get gigabyte to send me a new fan chassis, but maybe I'm missing something important hence I ask thee for help.

Sorry, but the WMCT was my best shot as I don't have a working knowledge of Linux.  Just this afternoon I updated my mobo BIOS and used a WMCT to get a fresh install of Windows so it would be up to snuff when Win11 hits the streets.  Whatever happens, good luck.  One last thought, when you're working on this problem, is the HHD/SSD the only drive in the system?  When I do something screwy like installing the OS, I make sure the boot drive is the only drive in the system, and that includes my CD player/burner.  Then after it is all up and running with just the boot drive, then I can fart around with it and hook up the other drives.

Tried having the drive with windows be by itself and got the windows logo. Tried installing windows on the drive that had linux on it and got unknown filesystem grub rescue. I think im done for today; thats enough trying.

  4. If I try to boot off a windows install usb or a drive with windows already installed I get stuck on a black screen with a windows logo. Yet if I boot off a drive with linux on it it works just fine execpt on boot up it says no irq vector found. Plz tell me if you need any more info, but at this point im stuck and in need of assistence.

Have you tried booting into Safe mode? This would make sure it's not a bad GPU driver causing this issue. Cause it to fail booting 3 times (I like the 'press the reset button' method, but you can do whatever you want). If it gets through to safe mode, try running DDU and reinstalling the drivers once you get into Windows.

If that doesn't work, it could be a bad GPU vBIOS. Get into safe mode again and follow the tutorial from TechPowerUp on how to flash a GPU vBIOS on an AMD card. Otherwise, it's possible the GPU could just be dead. It is a very old GPU after all, and it's not like you're losing money on it.

I couldnt get into windows or even safe mode so I gave up and tried manjora. Worked first try

  6. I got this gpu for free and I was going to use it to boot into windows on my, yet, unfinished build. With the gpu I can boot into bios but the moment you try and boot it into windows it just gives me this.

    Things ive tried

    - lowering the resolition of my 1440p monitor to 1280 * 1024

    - literally booting it off anything that has windows on it.

    - ive also tried booting it on a working computer but then I didnt set the resolution lower

    Any help is appreciated

There's a site that checks multiple sources for video cards and informs you when they're in stock. You'd have to hunt for it though, I've long since closed it as I'm not in the market for one. Other than that, check local stores to see if you can have your name put on a list. That's how one of my friends got his 2 weeks after the supposed "fake launch."

Sadly the only computer stores in my city are computer repair stores and a best buy which according to its employees hasn't had a gpu since launch.

  8. For those individuals who managed to get a rtx 3000/ rx 6000 gpu I have a question. How did you get one? Did you get one on launch day? Or was it from the new egg shuffle? Or maybe you just got lucky and it was in stock when you checked amazon? I'm just curious as so far nothing has worked for me and plus the site where I read my books is down so I have nothing to do at the moment.

  9. I have 2 computers, a chrome book, and a phone. It works just fine on all devices except when you plug it into computer No. 1. Windows seems to reject that it exists no matter what combination of cables and ports I use. Strangely on the same computer if I plug it into my monitor it works just fine, but sadly the monitor only has a headphone jack and not a headphone microphone port which I need.

  10. The 3070 is what you're looking for. The 3080 is more of a 4k card. Unless you're playing like cyberpunk or Microsoft flight sim the 3070 will do 1440 144hz on medium to high setting in any game.

  11. Sure its possible. I have 3 running 24/5. Heres a link to the github page if you need some assistance to set it up i'm pretty sure there are some youtube videos/guides to help you out.  https://github.com/Hari-Nagarajan/fairgame

But don't think of a bot as your all saving grace though. If no cards come into stock your bot has no gpus to grab. I for example have been running them for around 3? weeks now and it just seems like 3080s don't like to come in stock on amazon during feburary as according to this bot and a discord one the last time a 3080 came into stock on amazon was first week of feburary so I still have no card.
