  1. I have an old GTX 970 lying around and I've yet to find a buyer in the last year. I'm thinking of slapping it in my system and using it strictly for NVENC encoding since OBS allows you to choose a GPU to record with. Would I gain any benefit from the card this way? Are there any other uses for a secondary GPU? I'll likely be going to Ryzen 5000 series early next year with a better GPU and PSU and don't want another expensive paper weight. Specs: Ryzen 5 3600 32GB DDR4 3200 RTX 2060 X570 mobo 650 Watt Gold PSU
  2. The hiberfil.sys file on my main Windows drive is growing excessive in size and is now almost 20GB. I don't mind Windows using some memory to help my PC start up faster, but it's getting a little out of hand. Even my pagefile.sys is getting to almost 5GB, and I have 32GB of RAM. When I'm not gaming or dabbling in Krita with my drawing tablet, I technically have 23GB of RAM free. Specs: Ryzen 5 3600 32GB DDR4 3200 C16 RTX 2060 500GB Samsung 970 Evo (Windows) + other various storage for games and such. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
  3. Titles be damned, it was the best video explanation of why you should just enable XMP that I've found to date lol.
  4. XMP has been advertised by Intel for years as a safe way to increase RAM speed. The more modern CPUs are "specced" to be able to handle 2666-3200mhz and you can go higher if you have the money and decent cooling. You can't even reach those RAM speeds without enabling XMP because DDR4 RAM defaults to 2133 or 2400mhz on most systems. You can find videos by LTT, Gamers Nexus, and JayzTwoCents, etc. that delve into it. Whatever that "Performance" setting is probably put an all-core overclock on your CPU and synced the cores. If there is a "Standard" option, change it to that or put it back on "Power Saving." I can't find any LTT videos that are relevant to your situation in a Youtube search, so below is my favorite one by Jay.
  5. I'm wanting to make a macro that uses my Xbox One controller inputs using Corsair's iCue (I have a K95 keyboard). I'm using the macro in a game emulator to speed up a very tedious process. The macro recorder does not record XInput buttons/commands. Is there a way to have the software accept my controller inputs, or should I look for a third-party solution? Thanks in advance.
  6. No, in fact I'm using just over 16gb of RAM as we speak. I just wanted to get the most out of my PC.
  7. From what I saw shopping around recently, most DDR4 ram kits start at 2400mhz now instead of 2133.
  8. I just installed 32gb (2x16) of DDR4 3200 mhz CL16 G.Skill RAM, but I still have my older 16gb (2x8) DDR4 2133 mhz CL15 G.Skill RAM. Would I get any reasonable benefit from running all 48gb of RAM or would I be better off keeping the other two as spares? Note: I already tried overclocking my old RAM to the same speed and timings as my new RAM, and they just can't be overclocked. Thaiphoon burner says they're bottom-bin and I've had the old kit for 5 years. Timings: 32gb kit: 3200 mhz CL16 (16-18-18-38) at 1.35V 16gb kit: 2133 mhz CL15 (15-15-15-35) at 1.20V Specs in case it matters: Ryzen 5 3600 RTX 2060 ASUS X470 Prime mobo 32gb DDR4 3200 RAM
  9. Background: I need to replace my Chroma v2 keyboard. It's not that its bad, it's that it is way to hard to clean in a short period of time. Little bits of hair, dirt, and other common debris get caught in the corners and sometimes can't be removed with blasts of air. I'm a messy-ish dude with an "organized chaos" take on things, but I cannot stand my peripherals being dirty. I've had it since its release and I've regretted it. Uses: I primarily use it for playing games and schoolwork. I also dabble a bit in Davinci's Resolve and have been actively learning the program for a few months. What I'm looking for: High build quality, Cherry MX Red switches, full backlight, full numpad, and ease of cleaning. Budget: $250 Bonus points: Media controls for volume and music (Spotify). Note: I'm perfectly fine with maxing out my budget if someone knows an amazing keyboard that has everything I want and more. Razer Greens are basically modified MX Blues, but I'm ok with the learning curve. I have ADHD and trying to sort through tabs of articles that vary more wildly than the U.S. President's tweets is taxing to say the least. I appreciate any and all help. Attached to the post is a picture of the keyboard for reference.
  10. I don't think some of you have realized that this is a satire/shitpost, I mean LOOK AT THE TITLE. That said, I got my 3600 for $127 because the "open box" I was gonna buy had bent pins upon inspection. I didn't ask for the discount, the manager was super cool. No complaints here. Also I think they dropped the prices in wake of the new Intel CPUs so they could put the hurt on them. From a business standpoint, that's a clean hit.
  11. I actually had this problem with an old monitor and it turned out it was dead/dying. Mine had a hot-spot and warping in the center that was clearly visible if I used a black wallpaper. Maybe try changing your wallpaper to a standard black one and checking that.
  12. I recently got a Ryzen 5 3600 and an x470 board on sale, but I kept my old 16gb G.Skill DDR4-2133 RAM kit. Will upgrading to DDR4-3000+ be a night/day performance boost, or can I save $100-ish USD? Specs below. Note: I cannot overclock my RAM, the chips are binned super low. Ryzen 5 3600 Asus x470 Prime MOBO 16gb DDR4-2133 RTX 2060 FE EVGA 650-watt gold PSU *edited to add in in case it matters*
