  1. Thanks for the fast reply. I see, well you clearly see I'm inexperienced in this topic. So Dacmagic100 is a no go then. good to know. I don't really have any trouble with noise apart from the pitches I told you about. So If it will not improve the overall sound quality, I'm not interested in getting one indeed. So If I get one, I want it to solve my issue + expect a noticeable difference in quality. Any suggestions?
  2. Hi, I recently bought the Philips Fidelio X2HR. The reason why I got these headphones are: - I require an open back headphone, I use it at home and still want to be able to hear if someone rings the bell, of someone calls me or whatever. - Has great reviews - Looked very comfortable and Very durable. As I have a slightly larger head I tend to break flimsy plastic headbands. - I love bass, And hearing that this has a good bass despite an open back design, was an extra reason for me to get this headpones. - Has a low impedance, so I don't require an amp to use it. Overall quite happy with it. Now I have the impression that I'm not utilizing this headphones to the fullest. I have an on board soundcard that I'm currently using. The SupremeFX of the Asus Maximus VIII hero Alpha. Some people told me it's good enough, some said get a better soundcard, some said get a dac. I tried to do research, but I can't get out of it. As I have no experience with high end DACs and what not so ended up here. What should I get? I only use these headphones on my pc. Like I said I have the impression that my current soundcard isn't good. I hear a static pitch from time to time, which is a small short sound that you also get when you try and plug in a 3.5mm jack. And the sound is a little muffled currently. so Not perfectly clear. So I suppose/hope a new sound card or dac will sinificantly improve both issues and hopefully better quality sound. So I first of all I don't think I need an amp. And I can pay up to 200€. But I don't want to pay that much if the difference between my current soundcard and a 100€ dac is significant while it's not between a 100€ dac and 200€ dac. Any suggestions? 3. I personally hate the ones that have tactile feedback, especially get anxious from clicky switches such as the blues. But I love the linear switches, it really feels so satisfying to type on them. This is obviously a very subjective opinion. Since I don't like tactile feedback, even the bump on standard membrane kayboards bother me a little. Only some laptop switches I like, but those are almost always with a very low travel distance. So Yeah, Really like linear switches that aren't too heavy to press on.
  4. Nope, It was quite a huge difference, Here you can also see it. Right at the beginning around second 7, you see them side by side. On the left you see the rapidfire, they look exactly like the ones I have, a little darker of colour, and have like a demi matte look but don't feel matte at all. OIn the right you see the Lux with the red switches. Has a slightly grayish look compared to the rapidfire and have a matte feel to it. Wish I took a picture of both. Also about greasy fingers. It's one of the things I'm most discusted about. I wipe my keboard twice a week and when getting behind my pc I always use my hand with soap beforehand. I'm a little sensitieve in that regard.
  5. Hi everyone, I have been a user of the corsair k70 rapidfire for over a year now. Very happy with it, I think it's by far the best keyboard I've ever used (and I used quite a lot as a software engineer). My only complaint if I had one, would be that the wrist rest is a little small but not a big deal. Anyway, yesterday I also got a new keyboard for work. And I got the K70 Silent. I thought It wouldn't be a huge difference with the rapidfire and it will be silent, which would be more beneficial for work. It arrived this morning and returned it the same day. I ordered another rapidfire instead. I was surprised there was such a big difference between the rapidfire and the silent. One of the biggest reasons I do not like the razer keyboards is because of their matte finish on the keycaps (subjective opinion). This k70 silent had to my surprise also a matte finish on the keycaps, which I was very surprised to see, since I love the almost glossy keycaps of the rapidfire I have. But the main reason why I returned it, is the feel. The rubber dome makes it feel less satisfying, and more importantly, even though the actuation force is also 45g on the cherry mx silent, they felt slightly more harder to press and None of the keys felt smooth when pressing them down as if they were slightly grinding on a rough surface. Is this a known thing? Anyone else here who experienced both cherry mx speed and silent who can share his experience? And also how come Corsair has different keycap finishes? How come this is nowhere mentioned? I checked online videos that compare the rapidfire with the Lux cherry mx red. And you can clearly see the difference, where the Lux has the mat finish and rapidfire doesn't. Anyone knew about this?
  6. First of all, my question is not about air cooling, it's about water cooling and air flow. second of all, thanks for causing less people to see my topic by doing this and making it less likely for me to get an answer.
  7. Once again thank you. Or do you think I should leave it be as is? So keep using an air cooled gpu? In usual circumstances it's more often around 74-75 degrees., the 79 is the peak that can happen rarely depending on the situation. (EDIT: of course, forgot to mention. These are all temperatures under load (4k gaming)) Now I think about it, If I can put the 2 extra fans on the intakes, that will probably solve my issue in the first place, most likely lowering the temp of the gpu (not 100% sure though), But of course this will also mean that I still have to find a spot for my hard disc drive. Would my GPU temps also be significantly affected by the type of GPU I use? I have the Asus GTX 1080 A8G
  8. Thanks for the fast reply. The hard drive bay can be also installed to the spot where the CPU radiator comes. So it's either hindering the intake, or the cpu radiator spot. And I have to say that it's too large for what it holds. (currently only 1 WD Red 6TB). But don't know where else I can put that. Normally I was going to do a mini ITX build, but just to avoid all the difficulty where to put my stuff, I went for a larger case after all. And I guess I was a little too mesmerized by inwin that I slightly overlooked the detailed specs, as I assumed such a large case should be more than okay. Seems I was wrong. This is a nice image showing the airflow of my case: As you can see the bottom two fan spots are blocked with that square HDD bay. And I was planning to put the gpu radiator on the outtake where the red arrows are. And obviously have the large radiator on the right sight where the two bent blue arrows are. If I can move my hard drive to somewhere else (don't know where though) I can install the extra intake fans. EDIT: just found this on this form. So this is a slightly similar build, only it's not the infinity, so I do not have the extra intake upfront. But this guy mounted the gpu radiator to the intake, leaving the exhaust empty as you can see: Considering I will find a different spot for my harddrive, is this a better solution?
  9. Hi everyone. I have an inwin 805 infinity build. My cpu is water cooled with a corsair h115i on the intake of the case. It technically not blocking the intake, but it's close to the intake, so it's practivally the intake. On the actual spot where the intake is, case additionally 2 fans be placed, but I cannot because I have my 3.5"hard drive bay placed there, it's on the bottom of the case on the front. You can see it on images. Now My CPU temperatures are great, but I also have a GTX 1080 in it, and that one runs hot. I manually changed the fan curve, but still the GPU can reach up to 79 degrees celcius. So when I upgrade my gpu when the next lineup of nvidia GPu's release, I plan on getting a hybrid water cooled one. However my exhaust is a single fan. (+ the psu). So I will cover that single fan with the radiator of the gpu. How do you think this will affect temperatures of my pc? Is this a bad idea? Or will I benefit from it? Also I will most likely again change the fan curve of the fan of the GPU radiator, so that it still turns even when gpu is not in use, so that it still act's as exhaust. Any thoughts? Or perhaps other suggestions to lower GPU temperatures in that case? Thanks in advance EDIT: for the interested ones, this is my build:
  10. Thank you very much once again. Hope things work out well. Every piece of hardware arrived. Going to build it this week-end.
  11. Hi everyone, I will be building my very first system. Even though it's my first time, I'm not new to pc's. I'm a software engineer that has used nothing but laptops so far. But I wanted to make sure that I do everything correctly, hence the reason I'm here asking questions. 1. My initial and most important question is, about installing windows 10 on Samsung 960 pro. I ordered a Maximus VIII Hero Alpha Motherboard. I read about all these things about CSM and Secure Boot for just installing windows 10 on it. But couldn't find a proper explanation why people do these steps. And most tutorials being 1 year old I'm asking here, what needs to be done to utulize the 960 pro to it's upmost potential as a windows 10 boot drive? Mainly asking about any mother board configurations. Also if anything needs to be done/installed after installation, as I will be going to the samsung driver page and install what will be necessary, but Asking just to make sure. And also if possible an explanation next to the steps, so that I can learn what I'm doing would be VERY helpful. 2. My 2nd question is about overclocking the CPU, So far all I did in terms of overclocking CPU on a laptop was raising the Turbo boost power time limit + raising the turbo boost frequencies. So as I saw from many older videos on the internet, the main step is of course raising your multipliers, but what about the rest? If I overclock the CPU, do I HAVE to overclock ram too? What about other factors such as Cache? And most importantly, how do I play with voltages? Do I have to tinker with voltages? if so which ones? and how much? I'd rather have a nice stable overclock, not looking to push the limits of the CPU. FYI, CPU I ordered: i7 6700K, Ram: 32GB Corsair vengence DDR 3000mhz, and CPU cooler: Corsair H115i 280mm radiator. 3. Do I need to update motherboard firmware? If so can it simply be done within windows? Or are installing drivers of the motherboard enough? So yeah, if you can add anything else I should be aware of when building a new pc, please let me know. And for the curious people. The system I ordered, which arrives tomorrow, hopefully. Inwin 805 infinity Case Asus Maximus VIII Hero Alpha motherboard Intel i7 6700K CPU 32GB Corsair vengence DDR4 3000Mhz RAM Corsair H115i CPU cooler Asus Strix Geforce GTX 1080 Corsair ax860i psu (left plenty room for perhaps a future gpu upgrade) 6TB WD Red HDD 1TB Samsung 960 Pro nvme SSD Asus pg27aq 4K IPS g-sync monitor Corsair K70 rgb Rapidfire keyboard Logitech G502 mouse
  12. Short throw projectors are great, no need to put it far away from the projection surface + no one getting in front of it, meaning you can also get close to it as much as you want. LG now being my favorite company due to Ultra wide monitors and OLED TV's, I definitely would be interested in such a projector. Thank you linus media group and LG
  13. However it's better to decrease the mouse acceleration in the OS settings. And raise the DPI instead. Also the mouse pad you use can change the speed of the mouse. Different lasers can behave differently on the same mouse pad. But that won't be an issue I guess. All gaming mice have adjustable DPI, which you will be able to change until you find that desired spot. As extra: My favorite mouse currently is the Logitech G502 Proteus core. I have tried almost ANY gaming mouse. I went to a display where they gave the opportunity to test like 40-50 Gaming mice from all kinds of brands. Before my g502 I had the R.A.T. 7 with a glossy finish. I really like glossy texture and it could be adjusted perfectly to your hand. But that mouse broke down 3 times. Those mice have a bad lifespan in general. So the logitech g502 is the new winner for me. It has very satisfying clicks. Even the thumb buttons!! Also I really like the scroll wheel. I miss the aluminum base of the RAT 7 which gave it a premium feeling. But that's not big of an issue,
