  1. There are a number of games I am playing at the moment where I have hit a wall in terms of progress. Borderlands 3 - hit a point where I am constantly running out of ammo or just being destroyed by what appears to be 30 enemies in the area at once (this is on the laser mission). Wolcen - Lords of Mayhem - on a singular boss that I have killed and just grows into an even bigger boss...but I do understand that this game is apparently quite hard - the boss is Lambach and it is insanely hard. Wolfenstein II (awesome game) hit a part in the Empire State building where I am just surrounded on all sides and get slaughtered - I think I can beat that, just got to try it again, but feeling a bit dispondent about it as I missed the cut scene due to a crash and I have no idea what is going on now. I finished Jedi Order though!....albeit this is more of a story game than a difficult FPS. Are my reactions just crap, deteriorating over time? or are these games just getting harder!
  2. Ok the data does tend to cover Europe, Middle East and Africa. Couldn't find anything that breaks it down any further for country/region. However, it did seem to show that the US had about 15m units, EMEA 21m units and Asia/Pacific 22m - when dealing with Desktop PCs and Laptops. Of course, outside of components, but does seem to indicate 3 generally equally sized markets.
  3. Given the populations and the generally speaking equality of disposable income across the major countries, and the population of the US. I just don't see that the US would be buying more products than the EU. Let me go investigate and see if I can dig up any numbers, I could be entirely wrong.
  4. I don't think we are in the EU now to be honest - I thought we left in Oct but there are transition agreements in place for the time being. Honestly, I do not know what the situation is regarding the importation of goods to the UK from outside of the EU...given the UK is no longer a part of any agreements that exist between the EU and any other countries. With Covid everything sort of fell off to one side, and I don't think anyone has a clue what is going on right now. Could be importation, but it is a bit of a chunk of change for importation tax - about 25% import tax and 20% VAT just to get to the American price pre-tax. Seems a bit steep to be honest.
  5. There is a sub forum here for reviews...I only came across it by accident the other day, let me find it again.... https://linustechtips.com/main/forum/25-member-reviews/ Whether you consider members of this forum reputable....well that is another question entirely
  6. This is not the reason. The EU has similar buying power to the US - bear in mind the EU as a whole has about 150m more people living in it than the US. The difficulty in shipping from one European Country to another is non-existent and has been for decades - it would be no different to shipping across States in the US (which might actually be more difficult due to the way the US arranges itself). To the OP, it is not just laptops, it is RAM, hard drives everything PC related is charged extra in the UK as compared to the US. I wrote a review on Amazon asking why, and Amazon refused to allow it to be published. 20% VAT, I don't think that cuts it as $857 is about £678, now even adding 20% to that price, you are still only at £815. So where is the other £190 going?
  7. Midrange, 9600kf vs 3600, from what I see it is neck and neck in gaming terms, and the 9600kf is $20 more expensive. At high-end, I think Intel still has a significant advantage in pure gaming terms. I don't think the 3900x or the 3950x perform that well and if anyone actually buys a 3900xt or a 3950xt I think we should be calling the guys with the straight-jackets and the white van because that is clearly a sign of insanity. I am looking forward to Ryzen 4, I am hoping the core count increases as well as single threaded boosting.
  8. I did this once before awhile back, before the bios update, and got the timings a little tighter. I have actually written to the company who built it asking why they installed RAM that is not on the QVL or on the AMD compatibility list...I am not expecting much but it will be interesting to see what they have to say for themselves...these are the same people that put the RAM In Slot 1 and 2, when the Motherboard manual specifically sets out 1 and 3 (like almost every motherboard on the consumer market). That was an easy fix, but this could be a ball ache to fix.
  9. Bios is updated, actually was a good bios update helped the CPU run a lot better, this was after De8auer pointed out that no-one was getting their advertised speeds and a new update was released, from memory it was to do with AGESA? or something, whatever it was it helped the system run a lot better. The weird thing is, if I do a restart, I don't have a problem. It is just a cold start that really causes an issue. But yes, luckily, I rarely turn the PC off, because I usually have it doing something in the background over night.
  10. Now that was worth looking into, took awhile, but yes, apparently the RAM I have is neither on the QVL list or on the AMD compatible list....great.
  11. I will look into it next time I reboot, I mean, I just don't want to shut down to do it now. I also want to put back in place my memory overclock on timings which went for a burton when I updated the bios - though that was a good update, it pushed the CPU to be as good as it was with the overclock I had running on it, nice revision. I will look at doing it manually tomorrow when I reboot in the morning, and if it works I will let you know. Cheers.
  12. I don't mind that prices change, I mind that Amazon sent me to a link to buy it at an increased price when it was listed on their site for cheaper from the same seller.
  13. I am not sure whether I didn't type it or you didn't notice it - sorry just realised it is in the quote you made, hehe I wasn't sure I had typed it earlier and didn't want to read my own posts and be annoyed by my typos... When I searched and found it for £329, it said at the top...you bought this on x date. It only says that when you buy from the same person, not the same product, but the same product from the same person....I just checked to make sure.
  14. I already guessed it was the memory, but it is a minor issue that isn't worth digging around to try and fix. Just pointing out, this is an AMD annoyance. The IF is 1800, it is recommended that you run 3600 for a 1:1 ratio, you do, using the stock XMP/DOCP on the motherboard and when you do, you get problems. If I had set it up manually, tinkered with it myself, to get it where it was...then yeah sure, that isn't AMDs fault. I bought RAM rated for 3600, I used the XMP/DOCP that is on the board, and I have problems. There is one door that problem falls at, and that is AMD's door. If it was just me, then sure, who knows, but it isn't just me, some people can't even get 3600 to work at all. It is a ridiculous crapshot of how lucky you are to get the most out of your CPU based on the IF.
  15. I do not know whether it works like that. If higher memory can increase the FPS on a 2080 ti, why wouldn't increase the FPS on a 2070 super? I would have thought that you were more likely to see an increase on a 2070 super, as there is plenty of headroom available for more FPS than on a 2080 ti, as really the 2080 ti is pushing the limit of what is capable anyway. Another crap car analogy, but it is easier to push a 130 mph car to 160mph with modifications, then it is to push a 250 mph car to 280 mph.
  16. I don't think you can buy enterprise drives directly from manufacturers in quantities of 1 and 2. I think you have to buy like hundreds. Their website directs you to 3rd party sellers as well.
  17. This is why I remarked that it is always "only X left in stock" because it gives the impression that there are only a few left, when in fact, there are plenty in stock but this attempts to push the price.
  18. No, I just checked. And despite it saying "Only 2 in stock" when I bought it at £329, 2 days ago, it now says "Only 4 in stock" at £349. The price appears to jump around a little bit for this drive....and now both are at £349. Oddly, this drive is all over the place in price: Scan UK: £383.99 Ebuyer UK: £357.99 Ebay: £556.37 - which is why I no longer use ebay. Newegg: $325.99 or £261.43 - welcome to the UK tax for electronics.... PCKing (Germany): 340 Euro - £304. Hmm, might start buying it from Germany.
  19. Do you have a Ryzen CPU? And before you get shirty, you have told us nothing. We are supposed to guess? What system, what parts? Something, anything to work on.
  20. 1, Because this is common, like memory lane failures because the CPU is not down tight enough, or LTT putting in a CPU for his gaming rig in the last video and it not working. Why would I blame corsair on the RAM or PSU, when no one has a problem with them? Why would I blame Nvidia for the GPU when rarely does anyone have a problem with them? Why wouldn't I blame the part that litters the internet with its problems? 2, Everything is brand new, and works just fine. It is just posting from cold that is the problem and pressing the reset button is an instant fix. The bios IS at default except for DOHP or whatever it is called, there is currently no overclock on the system, the bios is upto date. Yet the entire system is built around an infinity fabric that runs best at 1800mhz, and requires 3600 DDR memory for a 1:1 ratio - which is recommended? It is like selling a car that and rrcommending you use 98 super unleaded, but only supporting 90 unleaded. It don't make sense. If that is the problem, fine I can live with pressing two buttons to boot. But that is the CPUs fault, that is the CPUs problem. Yes It turns on, pauses, gets stuck, you press the reset button and everything works fine. I am not going to take off the overclock to 3600, because that is a 1:1 with the 1800 mhz IF. I will live with it if necessary. Just pointing out, never had this issue with Intel, I would press the power button, my pc would work - and yes, I had OC'd memory in that system too.
  21. Ryzen 9 3900x....every, single, time. I turn the machine off, I turn it on again in the morning...nope. Not this time, try again sucker. Fine, I press reset, it works absolutely fine. I never had this problem using intel, press the power button, have a PC that works (or don't and diagnose the problem) but never turn it on and nope, do you work in IT? Do you like to hear the words "turn it off and back on again"? because that is what you are hearing in your head right now as you reach for the reset button isn't it? Is it the memory? Is it that you are OC'ing it to 3600, even though it says 3600 on the memory itself? Is that what causes it? It is really irritating.
  22. I am building up my NAS so particularly wanted to make sure that I got exactly the same drive...just for peace of mind and a bit of OCD. Only reason I clicked on it, because like you, I would normally just search.
