Had a powercut and wont post anymore, gets stuck on code 2A or 2E with a constant beep

Before I jump too much further down the virtualization/linux rabbit hole with the SR-2.....

Anyone interested in an SR-2, 2x Xeon X5675s, 24gb Ram, 2x Noctua air coolers for the SR-2 socket, potentially assembled/shipped in my Corsair 900D? The board works fine, all slots are recognized, is updated to the latest bios. The board just doesn't architecturally support virtualization the way newer systems do, and I'm running out of patience to deal with workarounds (aka, learning to lovehate terminal linux is utterly unappealing). If you're looking to build a riot of a vintage gaming rig, this would be a great start.

I would have kept both wood in the system if first one didn't have a broken pump and second if the board didn't die

The 900D is a Very Very nice case, just the one i bought was damaged with the top part bent and the side panels werent able to close properly . as i was gonna make that my own system with a small matx system in it aswell but couldnt be botherd for the effort to fix it and then modify it

4.2-4.5 is the usual for the hexacores, well binned chips will do higher, though you'll need more than 1.35v for 4.6GHz on anything but a god-tier chip. AFAIK the SR-2s aren't much off OC headroom wise from any other board on this gen, they're just more complicated. The seller for mine took two quad cores to 4.6 just to confirm it was working, so that's likely doable on a dual hexacore setup as well. 

well ive manged to get a stable 4.2ghz with 1.35v tmmrw im goona try and oc the ram, as when i tried 4.3ghz i could get into windows but as soon as i launched prime95 i would just bsod and that was even with 1.4v, next week i will try my other x5680

so im back here again, does anyone know any stable over clocks for 2 x5690s on a evga sr-2, ive been messing around with my x5680 and almost managed to boot it with 4.6ghz at 23 ratio and a 200bclk  and 1.35 voltage but it just came up with windows error codes to ive put it back down to 4.2 anyone know any stable oc's for the x5680 aswell?

I know, i think it was november last year i bought the entire ebay stock of sr-2 and it was funny, there wernt any until january (atleast that i could see)

ahh might do that once ive let sr-2 run for a bit, as im kinda afraid to touch it as, well... , dont want to break it,  Ram speeds for the x5660 its at 1666mhz ( i think) it not high i know that but its a mix of ram sticks anyway so if it works it works 

Thank, contacted evga about the dodgey bios code and they had no clue, so i was taking wild guesses at that point.
And yea want to oc the x5690s to 5ghz or more but i dont have adequate cooling for that so ive left it stock as i planned on having 2 D15s cooling them or a full loop but trying to find the mounting adapter and then the size of them would not allow 2 on the board. 

on my rig i got it to 4.2ghz on a x5660 with a 212 evo and 21 multiplier and a 200blk 

Memory controller is on the CPU (IIRC this is the first gen with an on-CPU IMC), but it could certainly have been a DIMM slot going fucky or something. Heard from guys more experienced with these boards that they like to eat their own caps too, could have been something like that. Good to know you got a working one finally though! 
 
Planning to push any OCs or anything? @WhisperingKnickers has/had an SR-2 with dual 5690s, IIRC he ran them at around 4GHz. 

Got this working after i found the third board in mint, as one didnt want to boot with both cpus in, and the other had a unknown bios code that wouldnt post (most likley the memory controller)
