  1. I have the G502 for animation work and it is a godsend; from casual use to Maya to Photoshop to the occasional game. The buttons really improve your workflow. Oh, and with a decent mousepad, the thing just glides. To emphasize on productivity, in Maya there are the functions that you use all the time, and when you bind them to the mouse it is once less step you have to take which means better concentration and saved time. I don't think the MX Master would be quite as good because it just doesn't have the raw macro keys.
  2. $1000 is 635 pounds, but since this seems to be a good starting point i feel like something you like should be in one of these. http://www.hardware-revolution.com/9-best-budget-gaming-laptops-under-1000/ (Stuff here should perform a little better in games in cost of battery life) http://www.cnet.com/news/laptops-we-love-under-1000/ https://laptopninja.io/finding-the-best-laptops-under-1000-dollars/ http://www.ultrabookreview.com/1834-best-budget-ultrabooks/
  3. So in a previous post, I stated that my EVGA SuperNOVA NEX650W made this grinding sound. After a day or so of research I've narrowed down the causes. Sounds like a clicking/grinding sound. I could describe it as a 'light' sound. Not very loud, but it's noticeable with the side panels on. The sound doesn't seem to be affected with the load in any way, because AIDA64 stress testing doesn't really change anything. System and temperatures look stable; no lockups or random shutdowns. I have literally no idea why it's happening. I know that there are better PSUs out there but in Dubai I could get (for a non rip-off price) a: My PSU Corsair RM650 Corsair HX850/1000i EVGA 1300G2 and nothing else. Nada. Wasn't gonna splash $250 on the HX850i (this is considered a good price here) so I went for this and my fears have come true. If anyone has any suggestions on the thing that could be causing the sound, please tell me. I'd rather not replace my PSU.
  4. I'll return it. Don't want the cap to pop when I'm using it.. I won't buy another one of these. Hopefully they'll have some more reasonable PSUs in stock (A 750 G2?). My friend got the RM650 from them and his works just fine so maybe I'll go for that. HX850i or that.
  5. I have a SuperNOVA NEX 650W. HX1000i is my other option in Dubai. 1300W G2 is even more ridiculous.
  6. Look, I know. I tried sourcing a GS650 (Tier 2, very nice) but Dubai doesn't have it. There is one major PC parts store here, and from them you can get mine or a RM650. Or, you can also get a 1300W G2/HX1000i. Lowest you can go is a HX850i, but they didn't have that in stock the last time I went. I know I don't need any of that crap but they don't sell Antec, Seasonic, or any other decent EVGA PSU for that matter. It sucks. So what can I do. Can't cheap out so I'll just have to burn that money
  7. You actually nailed it on the head. The first few seconds it's a buzz, then it's like a TTTTT rattling sound. I can hear some small pops as well. It's annoying the hell out of me. I knew that this is a mediocre PSU so shame on me for just cheaping out...HX1000i it is...
  8. No cable interference as far as I can see. The sound is kind of staticky, almost like a rattling sound. Think it could be one of the capacitors. The sound is most prominent after boot, and the sounds that come after aren't quite as noticeable. Suffokation, so it's known for this sound? I personally will go mad if it continues so should I just go complete overkill on the PSU and get something ridiculous?
  9. I have the EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W (I know it's bad but in Dubai it's that, the RM650 or a G2 1300W/HX1000i) and it makes this feint static/clicking noise for 10 minutes after the PC wakes up/turns on. The noise becomes inaudible after that. Think it's coil whine, but should I return it to the store I bought it from and just get a really overkill PSU? The noise does disappear after a little while so there's no big deal there. PC doesn't have any other issues. Thanks. Hardware: 5820K 32GB of RAM NH-D15 MSI X99S SLI PLUS GALAX GTX 960 BX100 500GB + 1TB WD Blue EVGA SuperNOVA NEX650W H440 PB278Q EDIT: No, the noise doesn't go away. It comes and goes. Time intervals aren't 10 min; they seem to be random. Nothing to do with CPU load. AIDA64 stress test on all components except disk doesn't affect the whine. PS: This is an animation/rendering rig, hence the 960. Not for gaming in any way. I could've passed off with a 750 Ti but whatever
  10. Maybe OP meant megabyte for file size? Even 36 megapixels is ridiculous...
  11. Because people that couldn't know less think that cheaper = better for a PSU and therefore get a cheap crappy PSU from Corsair (a reputable brand) and think it's good. RM series is also crappy. Corsair just seems to have fallen from the leaderboard these days.
  12. Oh, I thought it was 150mm not 170. Mistook it with the budget Corsair case. My bad.
