Leon KJT's Achievements

  1. That carbon fibre shround (although faux) still looks pretty sick, and in my opinion, looks better than the metallic one. Gotta love that triple fan design too! Good job Zotac!
  2. Razer Mamba 4G. I absolutely regret buying that thing even though I got it for a pretty good deal. I bought it with the expectation of a game changing experience, but so far it's been nothing but buggy software (point at you, razer synapse!), poor battery life, not particularly comfortable ergonomics, and disappointing tracking (in my opinion). It's back to the G700 for me.
  3. I wonder what the demographics of the LTT forums are like. That'd be a pretty good indication of who buys what for whom and how.
  4. As someone who lives in Hong Kong, I feel that this game doesn't really portray criminal activity here in a very reflective manner. I think of organised crime as much more embedded into society and certainly more like a business - contrary to all the hack and slashing I've observed so far. Nonetheless, I played Sleeping Dogs and enjoyed it a fair bit. It's' definitely nice seeing Hong Kong under the spot light, but generally not for the best of reasons.
  5. You're forgetting that the 980 is produced using the same lithographic manufacturing process of 28nm, and also has significantly less cores than the 780ti. This is more an indication of what the Maxwell architecture and thereafter is capable of. The most exciting thing in my opinion is the competitively pricing at launch! No hate for Nvidia from me.
  6. ^ Possibly due to convection currents where hot air rises and vice versa. My guess is that the current configuration where the pcb faces up has the best separation between hot and cold air.
  7. Whichever method you choose, it's really all about maximising contact and minimising the number of air bubbles in doing so. The pea method from my experience creates the best contact with the least number of air bubbles.
  8. Thank you Linus and members of LTT. Without you all I wouldn't have begun my interest into PC and tech, and definitely wouldn't have built my first PC either. I'm truly grateful for your videos and I, and surely among others, wish that your company and channel reach new heights in the coming months and years. Thanks again!
  9. Try use Google's public DNS https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using
  10. Interesting that you output to 1600 x 900 considering that you've got a plenty powerful GPU. In my opinion you have a perfectly capable system of running modern games on very high settings, and I really couldn't recommend much else to improve on. Perhaps you should move to Full HD (1920 x 1080) and see what sort of experience you have from that first. If temperatures worry you, perhaps you should look into an aftermarket cooler for your GPU like NZXT and the soon to be released Corsair graphics card water cooler.
  11. it shouldn't be a problem seeing that amps and dacs are always enclosed in something metallic and have internal shielding anyway.
  12. ^ Exactly that. Run it on bare-minimum. If you manage to boot into OS (Windows), then check the event log and see what went wrong.
  13. On top of all that was already mentioned, you should consider getting non-conductive thermal pastes as they are generally safer to use. I recommend getting Gelid's GC Extreme - It's been out for a while now but it's still a top contender in most regards.
  14. I'm not sure about your particular motherboard, but you might have to enable the NIC in the BIOS.
  15. A similar problem was documented in a previous thread before where the block wasn't making good contact with the CPU. Check to see if the back plate on the cooler is secured tightly and make sure there isn't any wiggle room. If in doubt you can insert a small rubber washer between the back plate and the two-way screw to make sure the block makes good contact.
