  1. I switched to rosetta@home and gpugrid while waiting for new fah work units. Fah backend cant deal with the donor increase. I hope they get new And better servers as donations while fighting for covid19
  2. I’m all in with my ryzen 9 3900x cpu and rtx2080 gpu. 7/24 online just for fah.
  3. As I remember it was a driver issue. Fah console was giving opencl errors even after reinstalling the drivers. I had similar issues with vast.ai
  4. I couldn't run fah in the cloud. So I run boinc rosetta@home in the cloud. It's much easier to run. sudo apt-get install boinc-client project_attach https://boinc.bakerlab.org/ [YOURACCOUNTKEY] boinccmd --get_tasks to get your accountkey https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/weak_auth.php
  5. If they promote themselves, they will be able to find fundings and more volunteers. New cores and better software is essential but they need more fundings and volunteers to speed up the process. At least fah can return to playstation5. I'm running fah more than 15 years and they need a jump. I
  6. We are pushing as hard as we can but wee need to recruit more people to fah. Imagine this project is featured in the news.. Fah team needs to preapeare a press relase ..
  7. I'm in with rosetta@home. I think it's the most valuable project which will change our lifes in the short term. this project will help to revolutionize medicine, clean energy, new meterials, food supply and many things.
  8. First color mobile phone in US was in 2001. 18 years later we are discussing about cancer research on our super complicated phones. We solved human genome just in 2003, now we can edit it inside our body with a single injection. Lola and Nana were born last year, first geneticly modified healthy human babies. Those are magical times to be alive.. And probably good time to invest in biotech companies too..
  9. Actually there is exciting news about aging too. There are some companies like Samumed, their drugs are on clinical trials. They are trying to regenerate tissues and even whole organs. Biotech is advancing too fast in the las several years. CRISPR is discovered in 2013, just 6 years ago. There are many more advancements. I belive you can live for 500years if you can stay alive for the next 20 years
  10. ASIC can't fold. There isn't any project using ASICs. ASIC are used for repetitive calculations of same kind. CPU's can't be used on GPU tasks and it's smilar for ASICS. Thats the info shared by many labs not my idea. All of them are different projects and searching for different answers. I'll try to explain in the simplest form. folding@home: Is a research for step by step protein folding. If we think a protein as a building, folding@home tries to explain how it's built and at what step misfolding occurs to cause diseases. And what can be done to fix those misfolding errors while folding. Great project but it needs so much more computational power than rosetta to find drug candidates. rosetta@home: Is looking for final forms of proteins and inventing new proteins. Instead of studying the whole folding process it calculates the final shape of a protein. Instead of simulating the construction of a bulding, it calculates the final shape of the building. This allows rosetta to be much much faster than folding@home in terms of drug discovery and rosetta commons is widely used by drug discovery efforts all around the world. dreamlab: I'm new to this project but it seems it's not actually folding proteins. It's about genome and cancer relations. Which is an another way to cure cancer and many other problems. If those genomes are discovered we can fix those dna parts with CRISPR tech. Which requires other folding projects efforts. In conclusion all those projects complement each other. They are all opening some different mysterious parts of map which will lead to heal many diseases and even sto stop aging.
  11. ASIC chips can't fold. They are designed for mining and they cant be used for advanced calculations. My Iphone xs max doesn't get too hot. Many ppl use sleep trackers and it's smth like that. It helps to cure the cancer it's more important than our phones I guess. My phone gets much hotter when I play games, this app is not off the limits. Probably its tuned to stay cool and safe.
  12. DreamLab is a multi-awarding winning Iphone and Android app that harnesses the processing power of smartphones to crunch cancer problems to help complete research faster. Developed by Vodafone Foundation in partnership with the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, DreamLab is an easy way to make a real difference. It’s so simple you can do it with your eyes closed. https://www.garvan.org.au/support-us/dreamlab/
  13. Welcome aboard my gpus are working on 11714 too. Keep on folding.
  14. Nope I dont know that and I think I dont need to. Maybe cluster is the long term for that. I just wanted to say that I want to run many of them at the same time on the shelfs. I don't need to configure them to work as one. I can remote control them but I dont know If those mini pcs can handle continious run.
  15. Hello, I'm folding for folding@home with my desktop and rtx 2080 however I want to build a cluster for Rosetta@home because I think they are producing very important papers these days. Rosetta uses Cpu only so I can buy mini pcs and I can have many of them running in a small space without building complicated racks etc. I'm interested in Asus VivoMini VC66. Do you know if it can handle continuous workload? Do you think heat will be a problem for a mini pc?
  16. Also there is a fast return bonus. if it’s your first day, your ppd can increase. As I remember 10wu per day was the minimum limit for fast return bonus.
  17. Make sure you entered the passkey. It has bonus. And if you run 7/24 you get quick return bonus too. So after you enter psskey and complete your first day points get back to normal.
  18. Rosetta@home made the leading protein design software for drug design. Some of the biggest pharma companies started to use their approach for cancer drug discoveries. There are many good news on rosetta side. Their site sucks and they never share news etc but their research is going very good. They made many thing possible with their discoveries. follow rosetta from twitter: https://twitter.com/UWproteindesign for the folding@home side, I don’t know much details as rosetta@home. There are many labs working with folding@home and I havent checked their papers yet but I’m sure there are discoveries on folding@home side too.
  19. If I were you I would dedicate my computers for drug discovery researches. For example cancer. boinc world community grid and rosetta@home are the best. also if you run those projects you can earn gridcoin. And then exchange this gridcoin with bitcoin.
  20. You can earn curecoin or gridcoin if you fold with those computers. It’s not much but you can earn smth. Other mining attempts will suspend your services.
  21. Gpus are exactly the same in every country. It will work when you plug it in your pc and it will work. You can buy from amazon usa but import taxes may apply.
  22. Rosetta@home founder David Baker is talking about importance of folding on TED Talks. You can follow them on twitter https://twitter.com/UWproteindesign You can help the research by donating your idle computer power to calculate new proteins. --> http://boinc.bakerlab.org or for cash donations https://audaciousproject.org/ideas/2019/institute-for-protein-design
  23. Yes smi shows the gpu without problem. I tried it on several instances with different cards rtx 2080, gtx 1080ti, rtx 2060 but I get the same result.:/
  24. Yes I use google for cpu wus for rosetta@home only cuz adding gpu is pricey on google cloud. (I finished my free credits and I pay for it) Also you might have mentioned it but If you set on demand pricing on google you pay About the half price. For example if it’s 1$ per hour and you set it to work daily it’s $0,5. But you need to start it everyday. Just download google app and press start button and it goes on without loosing any progress. I tried vast.ai but I get that error. Tried to install drivers again, it shows the gpu normally but when I run fah it gives me this error. Failed to start core: OpenCL device matching slot 0 not found, try setting 'opencl-index' manually
