  1. I'm in North America so Snapdragon. And yeah, you're probably right about midrange. I was considering the A series from Samsung. I also briefly looked at the new Nothing (2), though i dont know if that's really midrange, but it at least had good battery life in reviews.
  2. I have had my S22 for a little over 12 months now and basically the battery life is awful. Definitely the worst of any phone I have owned to date. On a full charge I can barely manage 3 hours of Google Maps. And while I understand I do use my phone quite a bit, I can't even make it through a workday on a full charge. I basically get about 8 hours with regular use. I normally keep my phones at least 3 years, however this battery isn't going to get any better and it's frankly not livable. I've read the S23 series apparently made some decent battery life improvements, and I was looking at the S23+. Does anyone have any opinion on how much of an improvement this would be? I don't wanna drop money on a new phone only to be stuck with the same issue. I'm open to other phones but I've pretty much always owned Google or Samsung, and unfortunately the Pixel 7 doesn't seem to be known for stellar battery life itself. Other than battery life pretty much the only thing I care about is having a camera with equivalent features/quality to my S22. I've stuck with Google/Samsung until this point mostly because I like their software the best.
  3. This has had me stumped for a while. Haven't used my desktop PC in a few months, recently came back to using it. Noticed I was having pretty terrible internet load times, even basics like my email were taking forever to load. It is impossible to watch a YouTube video at almost any quality without constant buffering (quality will auto adjust to 144p). And on top of that, I have almost no upload capability, I literally cannot even attach a file to an email, or even upload a simple photo to discord, they both fail. My email/google drive will often gray out and suddenly say offline. In general, I have had super weird behavior; simply trying to download new drivers from AMD's website the file downloaded the first 60% very fast (as is normal) than froze, and would eventually simply fail. All of these symptoms have been repeatable over the course of over a week now and across multiple browsers and apps. So far I've tried: Checking for new network drivers (none found) Complete a full windows defender scan (no issues found) Connected to my router via a new ethernet port on the router with a new ethernet cable (same symptoms) Reset network adapter via Windows settings (again, no changes) "Troubleshoot" network adapter issues (no issues found) All of this while still able to consistently return 120mbps down, but legitimately 0.00mbps upload on Speedtest. For reference, using the Speedtest app on my phone on wifi I get 110mbps download and 110 upload (what it should be). Also of note is that not a single other device in my household is having any issues, in fact I've resorted to watching videos and downloading files using my phone via wifi since it's way faster. I tried one of those super cheap USB wifi adapters I had lying around and it seemed to fix the issue, so the problem clearly lies somewhere in my network adapter. I just am at a loss what else to try. Any help is much appreciated.
  4. Yeah, removing CMOS didn't do anything so I will try refreshing windows
  5. I recently updated my GPU drivers after a long time to 21.4.1 (whatever the latest is). I was having some instability issues and decided to just revert back to an older version I had and worry about updating later. I ran DDU (choosing the clean and restart option) and let it do its thing. After it finished, my PC restarted, and upon attempting to boot back into windows it blue screened stating boot device inaccessible. I've tried restarting several times but I am not getting anything and my best guess is that somehow DDU corrupted something that's not allowing me to boot into windows? What's my best course of action here? I was just going to start with refreshing windows using the option that saves personal files, but idk if this is an issue anyone else has run into before and there might be an easier fix. Currently I cannot get into windows as it always freezes on the windows logo and goes into automatic system repair. Edit: I do know DDU usually creates a system restore point of some kind? I am not sure if this would be the easiest way to recover windows. Edit 2: I've tried using the system restore feature from both points available and both failed. Specs: 3600x 5700xt 16gb 3200 ram 1tb nvme (boot) 2tb HDD asus b450
  6. B450 should support Zen 3, it will likely require a bios update. Looking at ASUS' website shows that Ryzen 5000 cpus are supported with BIOS version 4007 and up so I think you should be fine. But yes, Zen 3 is supposed to be the last generation on AM4. As to if it's worth it to upgrade I guess that is up to you. Personally, if I were having CPU limitations I would always attempt to upgrade using my same mobo/chipset to save some money, one of the benefits of such a widely supported socket like AM4.
  7. Actually i's funny that you mention that. I had a friend once who was trying to build a PC out of free parts he could scrap together to play rocket league. He had some old GT card (i don't remember the model, but it was probably the oldest GPU i've ever personally held). It just had a single probably 40mm fan or something, but it didn't have output and was totally broken. So I put it in the oven for like half an hour to try and reflow the solder (I had heard about this but never believed it would actually work). And after realizing I had no thermal paste just used some trusty Crest toothpaste. To my knowledge that card is still running RL 2 years later.
  8. I do believe he said both AMD (so that would imply Radeon cards) and MSI wanted to work with him as well. So probably in one of the next drops yes.
  9. Oh yeah I totally understand. I actually think the system they have in place is probably about as good as it's gonna get, I am just gonna have to get super lucky that I am not in class when they do another drop (and that I have the time to watch the video at the time). It's still probably my best bet (considering how well the Newegg Shuffles and Best Buy drops have gone for me haha)
  10. It kinda does I guess haha. It's just unfortunate because I had pretty much relegated this as my last chance to get a GPU but doesn't look like I will be able to. I guess I could get lucky on their follow up programs (idk how soon those will be). I'll try to be good about opening the videos when I can but as someone with an actual schedule and responsibilities during the day it's going to come down to sheer luck haha
  11. OF COURSE the video dropped during my one class today. Holy crap that is unfortunate luck. I saw the notification pop up in class and quickly scanned the video and description for links while I could but it didn't look like the announcement. I literally opened the video 28 seconds after it was posted and only realized an hour later that it was the video announcing VAG..... damn that is quite depressing.
  12. Damn dude, you sound really mad they're going through all this trouble to try and get some MSRP cards out to gamers. Considering LTT is actually not a GPU retailer, I can only imagine the headaches they're going through just to sell what's basically a handful of GPUs to help some people out in some frustrating times. Frankly, I hope they milk it as much as they can to make it worth the trouble they're probably going through.
  13. Yeah I mean you can just go on ebay and see for yourself. Plenty of auctions with bids at that price.
  14. Hm, prices are more inconsistent for the 4gb (they're not great for mining, even if you can mine with them idk). But a quick ebay search sems to show you should be able to get at least 200-300 for it. I definitely wouldn't sell it for $130, seems pretty low. But I would sell now.
  15. Is it a 4gb or an 8gb? Either way you can probably sell it for more. But an rx570 8gb should be able to sell for at least $300. In general, sell now. The value of the GPU sure isn't gonna go UP anytime in the future. Last year I was hoping to sell my GTX 970 for $75, but didn't because I was lazy. That was the first and probably last time laziness paid off because I sold it a month ago for $210.
  16. Yeah I agree. The only reason I ever would have considered buying one is if it was dirt cheap compared to a similar hashrate GPU counterpart. Because the likelihood that crypto crashes after I buy this and turns it into a fancy paperweight is too high. At least if you have a GPU you can use it for gaming or in another PC, or sell it used to a gamer who wants it. I mean what the heck is this pricing? I could go on ebay right now and pick up a Vega 64 for $600 or so that will do 45Mh/s. I guess I shouldn't be surprised Nvidia wasn't gonna use their "wE'Re dOiNg ThIs fOr GaMeRs" marketing ploy to also sell overpriced crap.
  17. I also watched GN's review. I feel like GN had slightly better results for their benchmarks, the 6700xt placed above the 3070 in more of their results than for LTT. That being said, it's still not a great value at its price. I think Steve said it well there, it's better than the 5700xt, but it's also more expensive. So to be honest it's more of a side-grade than anything. And looking at the value proposition for this card and the 3060, it seems like complete stagnation. It seemed to me that for 1080p (and in some cases 1440 as well) the 6700xt still seems to outgun Nvidia, or at least trade blows. And looking at Steam hardware surveys shows this to be vastly more important. That being said, it's so hard to tell these days. Not only is the GPU market absolute chaos, but MSRPs don't seem to matter anyway. The 3060ti at $399 seems like a great value, but everything other than the FE are way more expensive than that. This goes for the 3070 too. It's impossible to tell if this is from tariffs, shortages, scalping, unrealistic MSRPs for AIBs, or what. eBay prices aside, none of the MSRPs are realistic since the AIB cards this generation seem to carry a much higher premium than normal. Kinda crazy too think I bought an AIB GTX970 for just over $300 brand new back in the day, and now a $399 price tag for a 3060ti FE is unrealistically cheap. GPU prices have really inflated.
  18. I highly doubt even if crypto crashed, it would fix the supply issue. I mean, it's not like the 3060 mining block (for the 2 weeks it existed) did literally anything to help supply, it was literally their worst launch yet. Especially considering the silicon supply issues have effected industries outside of GPUs Plus I highly doubt miners are the ones paying the absolutely ridiculous ebay prices, because for them ROI actually matters (and at 2-3x MSRP, it's not that great). The people likely paying those prices are just ridiculously desperate gamers, or people who really want an upgrade for other reasons. This would partially explain why even really old GPUs, or GPUs that cannot mine (such as my GTX 970), are still double or triple their normal price.
  19. Yeah, like everyone else is saying, DuckDuckGo is pretty great. Just gives you a bit more privacy in an age where we practically have none. I also use their mobile browser, and their chrome extension on desktop. Occasionally I do find myself going back to google if I don't find something I need (it's not quite as good, but impressive nonetheless).
  20. 1. Crypto mining is definitely not "good" for the environment in the sense that it uses a lot of electricity. However, most major mining operations typically use renewable generation sources for that reason (as well as the fact that these days they're usually the cheapest source). Also, like Linus mentioned in the video, for people in colder climates, a PC is pretty much just as efficient as a space heater, so you can literally heat a room and make money at the same time. So I would say you could hardly call mining bad for the environment entirely, I guess it's pretty much up to the individual situation and whether or not you think it's worth it. 2. People will always look for easy get rich quick schemes, crypto mining hasn't introduced this, it's always been true, and to think that's somehow crypto mining's fault is kinda ridiculous. And yeah, I guess technically if more people get into mining it could worsen GPU stock. But in general I think way too many people put the blame solely on crypto, when that is clearly not the sole cause of stock issues. - Again, GPU mining is definitely part of the reason prices are inflated from vendors. But to blame solely crypto mining makes no sense. It's simply inflated demand and lack of supply. Plenty of older GPUs that cannot mine are also insanely inflated in price. Hell, Nvidia pulled that marketing move to limit mining on the RTX 3060 and look how much good that did for the 3060 stock. GPU prices are inflated because of extreme demand, not because of evil crypto miners. 3. It's pretty hard to show that crypto is somehow really bad for GPUs when gaming isn't. GPUs are typically aggressively underclocked for mining, and run much cooler and consume much less power than when gaming. This is typically offset by much longer run times compared to gaming, but it's not gonna brick a card (especially if you take care of it, keep the card dust free, and re-paste the card when it needs it). I don't see much evidence to prove that GPU mining destroys cards at a noticeably faster rate than gaming to cause a lack of older used cards (especially consider many older used cards are not even profitable or useable for mining anyway). 4. You could argue that building a PC right now might be less affordable thanks to little supply and no demand, but that pretty much only applies to GPUs. All other PC components are relatively available and for reasonable pricing. Frankly, GPU MSRPs were already on the rise the last several years. There are plenty of budget options for people out there, and some older used cards can make killer gaming PCs for a lot less than buying a brand new card. 5. I don't know if I really understand this point. Not sure how crypto mining would "make you lazy", it's nothing more than a hobby to make some side cash. If you are operating a mining farm big enough to be your sole source of income, it's probably a decent amount of work anyway. And let's be real, that's not what Linus is promoting here. I knew immediately people weren't gonna be happy with Linus making this video. I am not sure why, because with mining as profitable and easy as it is, it's not a bad gig for many people. Heck, for someone who is in desperate need of a new GPU, they can buy one at a scalped price and quickly mine the difference of the extra they paid. So considering it's quite obvious that mining is not the sole factor here to blame for terrible GPU stock and prices, I don't see how someone could vilify it. Everyone is just looking for an easy scapegoat to blame because they can't get their gaming GPU at the price they wanted. But also on a side note, I don't necessarily like NiceHash anyway. They charge very high fees, have some rather sketchy business practices, and there are definitely better ways to make money mining. But, it's a sponsored video (quite clearly says that).
  21. I mean plenty of people prefer console gaming over PC, and all of the points you make are most of the reasons they feel that way. I definitely get the convenience and ease of use of my console days with my buddies, but I don't really see myself ever going back unfortunately. I know a lot of people prefer consoles saying they're cheaper, and while yes the up front cost is definitely less expensive than a mid range PC (which will net you much more performance), I think the cost difference is made up in generally only full price games on console, and the fact that you have to pay for online services (this one always really annoyed me). I also see what you're saying about feeling annoyed with the multiple launchers on PC, I think everyone sees that. But I personally don't find communication any more difficult on PC. Yes, there are multiple services, but I find discord to be pretty much universal these days and any alternatives are free and easy to download. Whereas when I was younger, if I had a buddy who had a PS4, I just simply couldn't play with him. Overall, consoles still seem king for casual couch gaming. There's nothing like picking up a controller when you have a couple buddies over. But I find PCs to be way more adaptable. There are simply more games available, you can use almost any controller, PCs are useful for many other things other than gaming, but you will probably inevitably sink more money into the hobby than you will with console. It comes down to personal need and preference, I think all the points you made are quite fair.
  22. Yeah not sure when the update occurred, but it seems like most people are running 5.5c, as am I.
  23. From what I am reading online, this seems like an alarmist overreaction from NiceHash (a company which already has an iffy reputation in my book) to try and convince people to join their platform. Seems like all that changed was the download link for Pheonix was taken down on Mega? The language used in the Nicehash post just seems super fishy, I think I will just continue to not pay their high fees.
  24. If the light doesn't stay lit on CPU, then there is not a CPU issue (it flashes each color once as it runs through the checks).
