  1. Yes, the programmer will flash the full BIOS chip, and if the Sky Non-K OC worked in 2.60, it'll work. Btw, this is quite a capable board. If you have a programmer, you might consider a CoffeeMod instead
  2. This is misleading. Most people who delid replace the Intel's thermal paste not with another thermal paste, but with a liquid metal, which has a thermal conductivity of 73 W/(mK) vs 12.5 W/(mK) for a high-end thermal paste, which is 6 times difference in thermal conductivity, and yes, the thickness of the layer is smaller, too. I agree that a delid may not help in his case. I sold my 4790K long time ago and don't remember what voltages it required to run to get over 4.6 GHz which is a typical non-delid OC for these chips.
  3. it uses Intel's patented mayonnaise under the heat spreader, it will require a delid to replace the paste with a liquid metal to push the CPU beyond 4.6GHz. Look it up, guides are available on youtube and elsewhere. Another way to make an LGA1150 system live longer is a CrystalWell laptop CPU with an L4 cache, which is adapted to LGA1150 by handy people in China.
  4. I see. I though you have something more modern. In this case I'd recommend to wait for the 10th gen, it'll cause a price drop for both 9th gen and Ryzen. You might want to check this out, too.
  5. Try to find the network controller chip on the motherboard (Realtek RTLxxxx, most likely) and touch it. If it is hot, it has failed, and you'll need to have it replaced.
  6. it is a Hynix AFR, not the best IC for Ryzen. It is strange that it worked at 2133 before and then stopped. Have you tired inserting 1 stick only, then swapping it with the other to check if one of them has failed?
  7. Can you hear if the pump is running? Can you test the pump using the external power supply?
  8. Yes, the newest BIOS will be able to run both the 8th and 9th gen CPUs. Make sure that the VRM of this board is capable of running the i7, despite the heatsinks it doesn't look very solid, OC is kind of forbidden.
  9. What motherboard do you have? Normally the board does not shutdown just because of the CPU fan warning, unless it has been set to do so. I your AIO's pump is faulty, the CPU may overheat and cause the system to shutdown. Have you tried using another cooler to narrow down the problem?
  10. What memory exactly do you have? Corsair has a ver x.xx written on the stick itself, please post a picture. This situation typically happens when the CPU's memory controller cannot handle the speed, try going up from 2133 MHz in smaller steps.
  11. It is simply not true. In modern 2019 titles a 1060 6GB is insufficient to Max out the settings at FullHD, not saying 4K. 1060 6G / 580 8G are somewhat OK to run FullHD Ultra 60ish FPS /QHD High for now but it will not last long. To play 4K decently you'd need an 2070S/5700XT and up.
  12. Of course it will support a 9th gen CPU, just make sure to update the BIOS using the i3 you still have. Before asking such questions it is good idea to check the board manufacturer's website. The only reason to look for an i7-8700 is that it may be cheaper than an i7-9700.
  13. Have you updated the BIOS to support Ryzen 3600? Install your 1600 back, download and update the motherboard to the latest BIOS, then put the 3600 back and try again.
  14. Eh? It is a non-K CPU, by ramping up the voltages you'll only get the most heat out of it. Try setting Vcore manually in the UEFI to 1.25 V and LLC to level 5. If your RAM is overclocked, make sure to set the Vccsa and Vccio manually, 1.2 V (or less) for each is normally OK for anything lower than 4000 MHz.
  15. 1,25-1,3 V should be enough for 4,6GHz. On Asus, LLC level 5 usually allows to remove vdroop without any overshoot. Why do you set voltage settings to maximum?
  16. Afaik H61 does not support higher than 1333MHz for DDR3.

  18. Hello guys. I used a search engine and found that the possibility to run CoffeeLake processors on Sky\KabyLake motherboards was brought up here before, but did not receive a wide coverage, even though there are many people who have good Z170/270 motherboards and want to upgrade their obsolete 4C/8T i3s i7s. Many such cases. The modification itself is more than a year old, but it's better late, than never? To those who are interested, I present the translation of this guide below. Thanks to all the people who made this modification possible and to the all people who contributed to this guide. I am not a native speaker, so corrections are welcome. 0. Before You Begin. 19. Mermi DUAL LGA1151 config? What motherboard are you going to use??
  20. You have a nice Z170 motherboard. It can run a CoffeeLake CPU after a simple BIOS modification and a CPU pinmod. I'm going to post a detailed guide here, but check out this link.
  21. There are several good tools: HCI Memtest Testmem v5 (needs a custom config to apply more stress to the memory) Google Stressapptest On Windows 10 you will have to install Linux subsystem and Ubuntu from the Microsoft Store.
