If you're going to be upgrading your CPU a few times, I'd go for a solid, reasonably high-end X470 board now. If X5** boards are released at some point, they won't have any features the X470's don't have. Nothing life changing, at least. Preferably, get an ASUS board.

One should in the second RAM slot from your CPU socket. And the other stick goes in the last slot. Possible other issues: For some reason, the X370 boards don't have particularly amazing RAM compatibility. Did you check to make sure your RAM is? Long Shot: In Start Up/Boot options, you haven't somehow changed the amount of RAM your computer is allowed to use, have you!

In Task Manager, mate, look how many start-up programs etc you've got enabled. Disable all the ones you don't need/want to start at boot.

Next time it happens, note the precise time. When you get back in to your computer, start up Event Viewer and find out exactly what's happening. It'll likely be under Warning, Critical or Error in the Event Viewers logs. EDIT: Removed word 'approximate'.

What's the best way to do a clean install, whilst leaving your personal files unaffected, mate? EDIT: I can't believe I just even said that, really. The entire point of a clean install IS removing everything, isn't it.

When I bought my copy of Windows, I got the retail, boxed Windows 8.1 (this is before Windows 10 came out, of course). I then upgraded it Windows 10 when Microsoft had their free-to-update offer. This doesn't change anything, does it? All I gave to is ensure my Windows is digitally linked to my Microsoft account?

So I've read that, after upgrading your motherboard, CPU and RAM, you turn on your computer and Windows 10 is still there just as it was before you changed your hardware. (As long as you ensure your Windows copy is digitally linked to your Microsoft account). May I ask if this is correct? Thank you.

Are you sure you don't mean USB 3.0 Gen 1 is backwards compatible with USB 3.1 Gen 2, mate?

So, I can't actually believe this. I'm getting the Asus Prime X470 Pro Mobo, and in the description it says it has USB 2.0 ports, which is pretty damn important seeing as my keyboard and mouse need USB 2.0. But looking at close-up pics of the board, I SEE NONE AT ALL. What on earth is going on? Could anyone who has used this board tell me, please, if it does have some USB 2.0's? Thank you.
