  1. I'm just curious what 3 things a Steam Machine-esque PC would require in order for you to buy it? For me it's 1. Decent Price 2. Small form factor (xbox 360 or smaller) 3. Out of the box support for all current gen controllers (Steam Controller, XBO, PS4, Wii U)
  2. The title is pretty self explanatory. I'd like to record at 120fps, can I tweak Shadowplay to do this or is there another option out there that uses the same hardware based encoding?
  3. Nice stealth brag, but that's not true at all. We're talking a 2D visualizer. Sure it will be running at 9600x1080, but it's no more graphically intensive than desktop usage or aero effects. it's something a 7770 could handle. This is my revised plan of attack. I think i hit a home run here. Somebody care to tell me if i'm wrong?
  4. The problem with that is that it isn't capable of eyefinity/surround. That is only for extended desktops
  5. Basically I need to build a computer, preferably tiny form factor. It's only job will be displaying music visualizations from an external audio source across 5 screens for a weekly house music act in a bar. I'm thinking software would be XBMC, it would handle the passthrough of the audio for the visualization. Alternatively, some sort of mic system that would pick up the sound and build a visualization off of that. I'm also thinking it will need a dual gpu system for 5 displays. What sort of gpu power would I need for 5x1080p visualizations? I wouldn't say that much, and possibly go further to say that it would be more CPU dependant. So far, i've come up with this. - http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/bw2RnQ I'm thinking the SSD will be a lifesaver, considering the computer will be in the same vicinity as a 10,000 watt PK Sound system. I don't think HDDs would like that environment too much. Still too expensive for what it needs to do, but I can't get around this 2 video card thing for 5 displays. Maybe something like this? http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814998089 Does that get around the video card's limit of outputs? Like... Say a card has 2 dvi outs, 1 hdmi and 1 displayport, could I use the 3 dp from the hub, and say, a combination of two of the three remaining outputs? (2dvi, 1hdmi) I can't see it getting much cheaper by going all AMD as far as CPU is concerned. Somebody guide me in the right direction.
  6. Thanks for the add and repping my "expertise". I don't spend a lot of time on this site, so anything to drag me back is welcome. I run the GameFAQs PC steam group. You should drop into the chat sometime. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/GameFAQsPCHardwareSocial

No Prob, I'll check in later.

  7. Not entirely sure where to put this, it's hardly newsworthy, so General it is. http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/04/19/mechwarrior-online-contest-puts-free-battlemech-up-for-grabs-this-weekend/
  8. I'm "sure" it does, but you gotta remember that the A series are APUs and not CPUs... a bit different internally. Most definitely not as easy as an FX cpu.
  9. I don't feel comfortable saying whether it will or will not work. Your best bet is to try it yourself. But I can tell you from my brief googling that people have gotten it working, Though it may be more of a headache than it's worth. But really, doesnt hurt to try.
  10. Thanks for the mention. Yeah, it can be pretty painless, link to more information is in the sig. Your video card and motherboard may pose an issue, but provided you have recent nvidia that shouldnt be a problem. Edit: just looked at your specs and your motherboard checks out. and the video card will work, but I don't think it will be as easy as mine was.

  12. I'm throwing you to the wolves. Use google. You're going to have to get pretty good at that, all new linux users do.
  13. As jaybird said, it could be hardware, software or user error. There's lots of things that can cause an OS to hang. Many times it's not the os's fault. Sleep/Wake issues are in no way exclusive to Mac OS systems. Stop arguing for the sake of argument.
