  1. So any downsides to going AMD? Seems better price to performance. Only downside being that it's slightly older then the 14700K and might get a new update soon? But it's probably also more likely that a new AMD chipset will still be compatible with my Motherboard.
  2. Budget (including currency): +- 1500 euro Country: Belgium Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly games but some light Blender and Unity Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): So as stated in the title, I'm looking to upgrade my current CPU and connected parts. Since I am noticing some issues and frankly I want to upgrade from PCIe3. So CPU, motherboard, RAM and CPU cooler being the obvious parts. Depending on need I might upgrade the PSU and case too. Parts I will be keeping are my RTX 3080 and if I can my Corsair RM850x powers supply. I've always used Intel but I'm curious about changing to AMD but I know less about that platform. Currently my main contenders are the i7 14700K or the Ryzen 7900x but it doesn't have to be between those two. I usually play singleplayer games at 3840x1600 and I'm happy with 60fps. I don't need "competitive" framerates.
  3. It might be good to get ahead of technology for a change. Start creating legislation and laws before it becomes a big part of our daily lives. This could be an important "hold on" before things start getting creepy.
  4. I'm happy they are taking their time to make the game as good as they possibly can. But I also wich they wouldn't have put out the original date. Publishers need to stop putting release dates on their games a year before release. It's especially bad for games that do yearly releases because then they are just stuck in a deadline and things like "crunch" happen. Keep it vague till you know for sure.
  5. I'll be impressed if it can detect the focus of an image. And wether it knows what should be in focus. Otherwise it's just sounding like a preset pack that picks it's own preset.
  6. Great this means that I need to update my motherboard when a GPU using PCIe 5.0 becomes standard. Only having to replace a year later when 6.0 comes out.
  7. It's installed on an M.2 drive ? But no it's not neccesarily you hard drive that determines pop-in. The LOD scaling could be out of wack. Which is the case here I think.
  8. There is allot of pop-in. Especially while driving. And overall I don't think it looks that great either. Character models look pretty bad (except for mutants for some reason). Models in general are fairly undetailed. Textures still look drab and sometimes blurry. There are some good effects though. Explosions and dust effects look great. From playing I don't notice any significant upgrade in quality from Doom(2016). Which ran well... but also looked good. This doesn't really for a game in 2019.
  9. I mean... It's interesting technology. And I guess some products have to be made for that technology to move forward... But I don't see the point and I doubt it would be very functional.
  10. Well it's not really the same since there is proven to be no connection between violent video games and violence. So there is no real reason to blame video games for that violence. Instead the individual is blamed for the act of violence itself. Now with gambling you are commiting the act of gambling, facilitated by the game. So you can blame the game. Same way you can blame a casino for allowing a minor to gamble.
  11. No you are talking about types of government. A government at it's core is the need for people to group together for protection. Going as far back as tribes. Laws and regulations are mad to protect the group from its own people.
  12. @Drak3 You do realise the job of a government is foremost to protect it's people. So if "harm" (being physical or psychological) falls on a member of that government, it has to exact an appropriate punishment. That's what laws are for. If a child gets molested or abused by a third party, it's not the parents that exact that punishment or are responsible for the crime itself (generally speaking oc since neglect is a thing -> in which case the parents get punished). Now at which point something is considered "harm" is decided by the leader(s) of that country. And in a democratic country by voting. The fact is that in most countries gambling is ALREADY considered illegal for children. A game that has gambling practices should thus abide by the same rules as gambling. So the only question that needs answering is if Lootboxes are gambling. Your argument for parent responsiblity is you saying that there should be no law that makes gambling illegal for children. And if parents don't want their kids to gamble to should not let them into casino's. That's fair, if that is your opinion but as said before, gambling laws are already in place. You're protesting the wrong thing...
  13. I agree, with that budget you could get some good quality/comfortable headphones/headset. I personally love my HyperX Cloud II.
