  1. Glad to help. Yeah that's why I mentioned 'how' you were buying it, because 1600AF appears mostly and only on some online retailers. But locally, it's a different story. I've been noticing a trend of Intel dominance outside of Western Markets like EU/OCE/NA that seems a bit unfair since AMD offer the best value at the lower end. But, I don't know too much about OS hardware markets. Just make sure that when you are shopping for a motherboard, even though you are buy 2nd Gen Ryzen make sure you get a 'MAX' version if buying MSI or something that is certified and 'Ryzen 3000' ready. I know there have been a lot of boards without the bigger BIOS chips ready for Ryzen 3000 but I think they just get around it by literally cutting down the BIOS to it's barebones. So, just get that out of the way to save yourself any trouble in the future. Good luck. I went moved over to AMD last year with a 3600 with the intention to grab a 3900X or 3950X some point in the future. It's amazing to know that I can have a amazing 6c/12t CPU right now and slot a 16c/32t chip in to the exact same board in the future.
  2. just gaming and only gaming all you do is turn on your computer and play game then, Intel.. but even then I wouldn't recommend anything under an i7 8th gen (6c/12t)..everything else is a terrible deal and dead end. Everything else + very good gaming performance = AMD. Depending on how you're buying your processor then I would try and find a 1600AF if I were you, then you could spend all those savings on something better, like GPU or mobo. But, just in terms of upgrade path and multitasking it's a no brainer. Unless you're running a 2080ti and are that dude that cares about those 10 extra fps then you should be buying AMD.
  3. I'd check that mount again and re-paste / paste it since I know that the Wraith Stealth comes with factory thermal paste on it. If not, maybe make an aggressive fan curve in the bios to see if that has any impact. But, first thing that comes to mind is that it isn't mounted properly
  4. if it doesn't show a POST screen or you can't enter BIOS/UEFI then try resetting your BIOS or replacing your CMOS battery. If there is any sort of other visual error then it is most likely your GPU.
  5. Sounds like your board is dead dude. Asrock don't have a great track record with b450's. If you want to stick with that chipset then MSI is the way to go. You can pick up a Mortar which are pretty awesome mATX boards. You could try resetting bios/cmos but it sounds like your board is gone. Have you tried replacing the CMOS battery? Has your board going a bios flashback? you might just need to short out the pins or just try replacing the battery. I would just grab a new board or try borrowing one from someone and throwing your cpu in there. if you have another PC then test your RAM and GPU on them just to make sure.
  6. upwards of 80-90C with a 360 Rad!!!? I've never seen results like this before..then again none of my friends have 9th Gen intel chips since Ryzen exists. So I haven't been able to see first hand how hot the 9700 and 9900K's are I was wanting to try either out when they become affordable down the line purely to see how far I could push it since I have a lot of fun with my old 2600K getting it stable at 4.6-4.7ghz Maybe i'll wait until an exceptionally cold winter
  7. So you won't have to worry about having a 970 anymore. Also, you'll be on AM4 (which i'm assuming that you're currently not atm and this is what you will be upgrading too) So your eventual upgrade path to 3950X and Ryzen 4000 will still be open rather than tapping your feet with basically the best consumer cpu out at present paired with a saggy floppy old dick of a 970
  8. Why don't you get a 3900X instead and get a nice RX5700 or a 2060Super with the difference you'll be saving?
  9. Like everyone else has stated 16GB. I have also never seen my gaming rig use above 11 or 12gb during a game. I use 32GB though because I use it as a DAW and render big audio files and have a bajillion things open at once. But just games, 16GB is fine
  10. if going anything B450 go with MSI. They have comparatively great power delivery. A320 is your own funeral if you really want to hit under $100US I presume I would try for a 2nd hand X370 or X470 if you're lucky.
  11. I would always go with the 3600 (I did!) unless the 3600X was severely discounted. it's $50-$60AUD more expensive than it's non 'x' counterpart. You can wiggle some of that performance out of a 3600 or have fun trying. Where as the 3600X is pretty much on the line.
  12. Or you could get a really really nice B450 board if you don't plan on using SLI. afaik that's pretty much all that X470 offers over B450. The Xx70 variants will usually have slightly better VRMs but if you are really taking a good look at what you need then you will probably find B450 ticks all the boxes for a much better price.
  13. And then there is the total BS of the way taxes of Goods and Services work in the US....which is the most backwards and BS way of incorporating taxes in to price i've seen in any country i've ever been to... Oh..the thing you want cost THIS MUCH!!! ONLY $2XX.99 but it's actually $3XX.13 thank you. SSeriously....how hard is it to just advertise the last price and break it down in the receipt.. and then that changing state by state. ridiculous
