  1. Nope. Resale value alone makes K a better option if they cost the same.
  2. Been using Mint on my "other server" for a while. I do this, "can you switch to linux today" kind of challenges once in a while and this time I am surprised how good it went.

Topic of interest was gaming this time around. I used to play native linux games (like stardew and rimworld) when I had to use a laptop for N3060 and 4 gigs of ram for close to 2 years. As you can guess, experience was great that time around.

This time around, its even better. I played FH4 and crysis 2, what impressed me the most was crysis 2. Which runs like shit on Windows due to being notoriously CPU bound. I was able to play the game SMOOTHER than my PC in my specs. Mind you, this "other server" has only 16G RAM(3800C18), R5 3600 (static all core 4ghz) and a 1660S. FH4 runs kind of stutters, it almost feels like its due to network gateway this device is connected to having over 200ms of latency so I am going to test that later.

Overall, I am VERY impressed with Proton. All I had to do select Experimental for every game I wanted!

I am genuinely happy to see that I can in fact switch from Windows or Mac into any debian based distro and be fine with it.

Anyways, I did something to the PSU of this thing lol. I think one of the main caps of this PSU is fucked. It takes couple of minutes for it to turn on lol...

  3. I would usually say its fine but considering you are pairing a decently expensive CPU with a unknown quality motherboard and PSU, I am going to recommend you to rethink that choice.
  4. Logs in to Spotify client on an Android device > nothing happens.

Logs in to iOS client on iPhone > nothing happens.

Logs in to Windows client > nothing happens.

Logs into Linux client > password gets reset.

So today's the day Light legally becomes an adu…

Congrats. Everything is downhill after 21
  6. Colors are not off, its just color choices are shit. Here is mine in W10.
  7. Generally speaking this depends on the configuration. If your IT is competent enough to capture all DNS requests then you are out luck. You should talk to them though.
  8. First 2 are just borderline nowadays. AMD CPU on the other hand was destined for landfil the moment they released it. Are these your only options? Out of those i5 is the the one with most cores.
  9. Clickbait title. Should have said "VPNs are basically useless for anonymity..." VPNs are quite useful, just because you leak DNS doesnt mean you leak the entire traffic. Just because as example my home DNS leaked, doesnt mean my entire network is open to internet. I would still be suspect of MITM sure but you would need to try harder to leak data from my VPN.
  10. Clearing HSTS cache is such a chore in firefox. Does anyone develop with it all?

  11. That graphics card is overheating to hell. Disassemble it, dust it off, replace the thermal paste and pads. If the last part of that is too hard, just dust it off first (dont use household vacuums to clean electronics)
  12. 1%s are always AMDs trouble spot. I was talking in the lines of actual driver/software stability.
  13. I almost had a small stroke clicking this thread thinking you attached a nas like that lol.
  14. Direct die = PTM7590 or liquid metal otherwise you will have to keep on replacing thermal paste every 6 months. Also both of those Amazon link is a major rip offs.
  15. You HAVE to set up a firewall if you want to expose ports to internet. Considering your lack of experience is showing up in the OP, I would recommend hosting a VPN server instead of exposing everything to internet.
  16. Unless you have to introduce FN key to the combination lol. Plus I believe its F10 in Lenovos (AND sometimes Enter key).
  17. Its the fucking windows that fucks it up. "Fast startup" option in Windows comes pre-enabled and when you click shutdown button in windows your computer is actually not shutting down, when your computer wakes up it straight up loads OS and skips whole enter bios input. I keep that shit disabled on every system I setup since the day they introduced in 2012.
  18. Kia of computers eh. Any short can be damaging, try not doing that.
  19. Factory voltage frequency table overestimates how much voltage it needs in order for shitty binned GPUs to work on same VF table. Stock VF tables are usually always power limited; so when you reduce voltage you give your GPU more headroom to clock higher. My 3070 in its stock VF table only lets me hit 1950 or so mhz meanwhile I can push that all the way up to 2150mhz myself.

  21. https://github.com/chrismah/ClickMonitorDDC7.2 is your best bet. I can do exactly that using this.
