  1. IIRC FTP still transmits the Username and Passwort in clear text doesn't it?
  2. Get a dedicated ADSL Modem. ADSL2 don't cost much but I am still looking for a VDSL2 for less than ~150€
  3. Yes, unless you got a seperate NIC for your vSwitch there is a direct network connection to your hyper-visor. There are also tricks to escape to the hyper-visior even without a network connection. Putting that thing on the internet is endangering other people. Worst case scenario: your malware infested f-fest is used to attack critical infrastructure and people actually die as a result of it. Nuke it.
  4. Ignore this part: There are switch devices which seperate a 8 wired cable into two 4 wired cables which you can use for dual 100mbit lan (or telephony) but you'd have to set them up on both ends and you would decimate your connection speed. The switch device you are looking for is a ..... "Switch". 4 Ports (or more) Gigabit Any manufacurer will do, you'd probably end up with netgear or tp link.
  5. Many IP Cameras feature a build in dyn dns option. You'd need to set that first.
  6. How are you transfering data on it? If you want a simple daily backup you can set up an robocopy script from task scheduler. You can even just copy the new files and even have them zipped if you really want to. If you want real backups you can set up Veeam Agent for Windows for free.
  7. Is this an activated version of server 2019? What happens when you hook up a monitor and keyboard and try to log in?
  8. wow, I just downloaded it (after running it through virustotal, which all of you should've done) and checked the --help for options. Thank you for this.
  9. And whose computer are you trying the program not appear on? Place consider your local laws and basic human decency before proceeding with whatever you are planning...
  10. Welllllllllll...... If you compare your standard 4 Port home router for something like a small SonicWall, FortiGate, Sophos they usually have at least 8 ports. On the other hand many cisco routers only have 1 or two ports since they assume you use switches w/ vlan colors. It's the added features like proper ACLs, the ability to connect to more than 3 subnets (business usually got wan, lan and sometimes dmz), use proper routing tables or dynamic routing protocols. UTM features since most of the time they are bundled with firewalls and an overall higher session limit.
  11. You can try it since it's an easy option but it doesn't fit the symptoms. If it had 4 of 8 wires working it should autonegotiate to 100Full. Anything else should fail entirely. You usually only have to set the speed/mode manually if the switch port is set aswell.
  12. What is connected on the other side? Is the switch port / router set to 10Full?
  13. Their are appliances or SaaS like FortiSandbox which do that. For you the easiest way would be to enable Hyper-V on your machine, set up a VM with Windows 10, create a snapshot and after you are done with your poking around apply that snapshot.
  14. Don't f*** around with the IT equipment of your company without consulting IT first
  15. For the user accounts: Active Directory For the software: they don't. You got a machine, which has software X installed. Otherwise they install it on a terminal server and let you access it through that.
  16. Well there are just so many things it can be when you cross out the rest. You said from your main pc, so I assumed it can't be on your router or general setup. What can it be on a single machine? IP, Cache, DNS, Browser. Over half a year you'd probably clear your cache and switch your browser. Depending on your DHCP lease time or static IP your firewall/router could make a difference... but what do ALL developers do when creating something new? Testing with edited host files....
  17. Do you, perchance, have set up some records in your %windir%\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file for testing?
  18. RFC 2782 which would allow for that is sadly not implemented in Firefox/Chrome/IE IIRC.
  19. Is windows activated? I had the same error on an old unactivated VM running eval.
  20. A small NAS (Synology/QNAP) is probably the cheapest, easiest and yet best solution. I'd advise option 3 aswell.
  21. If you are in a professional environment you can set up a Remote Desktop or RemoteApp server. Other than that... replace the devices.
  22. Did you set the DNS of your network connection to your DNS server?
