    1) The single blue laser does not produce coloured light with a colour wheel. It is a laser+phosphor system. The phosphor produces white light when hit by a laser. This white light then passes through the colour wheel (or dichroic mirrors for most projectors) to produce the 3 colours.
    This means it loses just as much light as a regular lamp projectors does because it still needs to produce pure white light and then filter it.
     
    2) The laser is extremely inefficient, combined with the fact that the laser-phosphor light conversion process is also not anywhere near 100% efficient, this causes the projector to still use a ton of power, 500W actually, just as much as a regular lamp projector, or even more in some cases. The lasers get extremely hot too.
     
    3) It is not at all like OLED, it is not possible to turn individual pixels off. It is just a single cluster of lasers producing a single point of white light, like a regular projector. The black levels are not any different because it is using laser instead of bulb.
     
    4) It's a projector, and still has the same primary drawback as any other projector. The contrast gets worse the more ambient light there is because it needs to be projected onto a white background.

    Yup. In theory you could also do mGPU with them, but they’re low power MXM cards to keep the power / thermal load down, so you won’t get much gaming perf out of them.

    They mention ordering ~4000$/per channel Lectrosonics systems to replace the current ones, I'm sure those are digital and therefore won't exhibit this kind of behaviour, however strange the settings.

    While I wholeheartedly advocate investing in quality gear, in this case the money would probably be better spent on something else IMHO - this is why this topic exists.

    Not sure where I should post this - feel free to (re)move it, I'm just trying to save LMG some money.

    Regarding the audio issues & the subsequent comments on the latest mineral oil PC livestream: 

    The Sennheiser receivers have a "Squelch" setting which sets the amount of RF signal needed to turn the audio output on - I'm willing to bet you have this on "Low" which means that pretty much any RF noise is considered a valid signal and that's the reason for the white noise when the transmitter is off. "Mid" should be a better fit in your environment, with the "High" setting you might start losing some range. Just in case, make sure you have "Pilot tone" turned on on both the receiver & the transmitter.

    Also, check your wireless gain structure - you could see that the analog input on Luke's pack was clipping almost every time he spoke so you might want to turn the "Sensitivity" down on the transmitters.

    Last bit of advice just in case - the omnidirectional antennas on both units (receiver & transmitter) are actually omni only on the XY-axis and have very little effectiveness on Z-axis - placing the receivers flat on a table or mounting the receivers on a camera with the antennas pointing at the transmitter is not a good idea, it's best to have the antennas more-or-less vertical.
