  1. It's cool, but can you play Crysis on it?
  2. Damn son, that's rough. Is it just for the technology for your school or does it cover a load of areas? If I were a parent, I probably wouldn't mind paying some money to the school for resources, but it's kinna crap that it's forced on everyone.
  3. Aha, very true for most cases, but for the further to reach places either in super rural areas or far out in the countryside, people are still living off DSL. Often for people in the countryside, people's connection is satellite based for their village or phone based which is extremely slow. My friend lives outside our town and up till now he's been having >1mbps up and down. Not to say that Virgin isn't making an effort though, both them and BT are trying to further the coverage of fibre internet which is AWESOME! unfortunately some people don't care and are saying it's a waste of money, but that's neither here nor there.
  4. As far as I know, ISPs in the UK use fibre optic to transmit from the nodes to the boxes at the end of your street then either CAT6 or Coax from the box to your house. This makes it more cost effective and less likely for a customer to damage fiber optic lines. I think Coax is capable of transmitting at gigabit speeds though.
  5. Facebook and Microsoft are teaming together to lay down a fibre optic across the Atlantic Ocean for wider spread & faster internet connection for connected countries. Although this isn't the first time this has happened and it's not going to really affect the UK, I think this is badass for the countries it is affecting. What's your thoughts? 4100 mile fibre optic cable capable of a 160tbps (terabits per second) from Virginia Beach in Virginia to Bilbao, Spain. Project name: MAREA (Spanish word for "tide") No comment on price yet. http://www.theverge.com/2016/5/26/11787822/facebook-microsoft-marea-internet-cable-atlantic-ocean http://techcrunch.com/2016/05/26/microsoft-and-facebook-are-building-the-fastest-trans-atlantic-cable-yet/
  6. I found this article earlier today, though it was interesting enough to share. It is a foldable/portable selfie drone that fits in your bag and can be used for short video recordings and photo-shots. http://www.digitaltrends.com/photography/zero-zero-robotics-launches-hover-flying-camera/ Quick summary of artical: Unfold and toss in the air Just under 0.55 pounds Carbon Fibre body There’s no GPS or any sort of built-in tracking sensor Tracks faces, bodies, and surroundings 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset Shooting 13-megapixel photos and 4K video at 30 frames-per-second Single-axis gimbal & electronic image stabilization Developed all of its proprietary technologies, from face detection to flight-control algorithms It will list for $600; not exactly cheap Hover will stay active for only 8 minutes, but Zero Zero plans to supply four batteries with the unit (physics issue that’s associated with lithium-ion) "Wang threw the Hover into the air and it quickly stabilized itself in-flight, and safely landed itself when the kill switch was pressed"
  7. This is gonna sound really strange, but hear me out. I have a computer without a monitor connected to it acting like low player private games server, I use teamviewer to interact with it, but the desktop is at a fixed resolution of 1366x768 but I can't make it any higher. The PC itself is a Dell Optiplex 390 (i5 and a handful of RAM) and has onboard graphics therefore I can't use Nvidia control panel without installing an Nvidia GPU. Any Ideas? All (reasonable) questions welcome. Note, this is the closest relative topic I could think of... unusual circumstances etc.
  8. Hi airdeano, thanks for the quick reply, I have done a bit more research (copied and pasted my part of the thread to the asus forum at the same time for faster and varied results). You're right, the SSD isn't supported as a boot drive, but there are bios configurations to get round the problem which seem like too much of a hassle especially if I can't have any USB storage devices connected on boot. I am looking at returning the SSD as it is on the supported list and the speeds seem reasonable compared to some of the others. Would you make any recommendations otherwise? and am I right in saying that I shouldn't have any issues with using the drive clone tool with Minitool partition? Thanks for your time spent researching this for me Other forum for reference: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?74532-Problems-using-XP941-as-boot-drive
  9. Yo, I have recently bought a Samsung XP941 SSD and I am trying to use it as a boot drive. I have done a complete copy of my old OS drive using a tool called Minitool Partition Wizard with success but when attempting to boot from the drive, the motherboard will kick me back into bios. I have also attempted to install an OS onto the drive using a USB stick but it gave me this error. Upon further investigation, a lot of other people have had the same problem on different motherboards, but the solutions are vague and useless where people would just say "I've fixed the problem" and that is all. Some also just give up, but I won't give up a drive of these speeds without a fight. Have I bought a faulty drive or motherboard? I have updated the bios from 11** something to the latest with no improvements and I've already spent about two days attempting to fix a problem by Frankensteining a bios together with a file I found on the internet called 'Z97Ex61.40.SAMSUNG-M2-DXE' and AMI Aptio MMTool but the bios doesn't recognise the output file.
  10. Interesting, thanks for the quick reply. Out of curiosity, is it just to provide ads or is it a script which would cause ads in unwanted places?
  11. So I was doing my regular computing, browsing etc, and suddenly a windows popup appeared asking me if I wanted to download a file named "OAD_Comscore_NoID2.js" and I thought "hey why not, I can handle it" (meanwhile in my head Shia LaBeouf is screaming "Do it") sort of hoping it's something exciting. I was a little confused that it just popped up with no program warning but wasn't sure if virus or nar.. So I opened my favoured script editor (NP++ of course) to view the code, but that hasn't seemed to give me much more information than a website (which leads pretty much nowhere even trying to access the different levels of / in the web address). I'm not much of a programmer myself so I can only ready what my eyes can show me. I haven't ran it yet because I don't know what to expect and I have Googled around a bit but the information was very old, flimsy and loose. Any ideas on what it is trying to do? I could just delete it but where's the fun in that ;3 all things happen for a reason. PS: Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I'm not much of a forum user and this just seemed to be an acceptable place. /*Version 2.0.5Created: 2014-11-05http://ds.serving-sys.com/BurstingRes/CustomScripts/OAD_Comscore_NoID2.js?adid=[%tp_adid%]&scriptURL=[ENCODED COMSCORE SCRIPT URL]parameters: scriptURL is the script url that you want appended to the parent of ebBannerDiv as a sibling. */(function() { var ebScriptFileName = "OAD_Comscore_NoID2.js"; if (!(typeof (ebLastQueryUsedArray) != 'undefined' && ebLastQueryUsedArray)) { ebLastQueryUsedArray = new Array(); } var ebScriptQuery = function(scriptPath) { this.scriptPath = scriptPath; }; ebScriptQuery.prototype = { get: function() { var lastQuery = ''; var srcRegex = new RegExp(this.scriptPath.replace('.', '\\.') + '(\\?.*)?$', 'i'); var scripts = document.getElementsByTagName("script"); var i; for (i = 0; i < scripts.length; i++) { var script = scripts[i]; var scriptUsed = false; if (script.src && script.src.match(srcRegex)) { var query = script.src.match(/\?([^#]*)(#.*)?/); for (var j = ebLastQueryUsedArray.length - 1; j > -1; j--) { if (query[1] == ebLastQueryUsedArray[j]) { scriptUsed = true; break; } } if (scriptUsed == false) { lastQuery = !query ? 12. I would be streaming minecraft, because I am a mimic of all of the other people who also stream games to twitch and upload to youtube. Lol. Just because that type of free time usage is commonly used by people who also don't have a life. This would be replacing OBS because it is too simple and doesn't fully support my needs.
