I say this is a good basemark, but note down the FPS in the games you play most.

  2. Tristerin

Yup I plan on it, Ill have to DL a few (small SSDs in that rig) and do it in one go when I get the time after the RAM arrives (hopefully within the next week Ill find the couple hours to get it done)

Test GTA V and the Witcher 3. Those games show off the gains

  4. Tristerin

I don't have Witcher 3 (my wife games so everything is online multiplayer for the most part) - DLing GTAV now

Again keep in mind i dont make promises this will make a difference but hey there is such thing as a receipt :D

@MadmanRB this is good for my knowledge (and glad to share the experience) and Im about to hit buy on another CPU and motherboard to put a home for the ram once this is done to retire my FX 8350 gaming rig :) it was just the catalyst I need to scratch this itch LOL.  I have an M.2 NVMe drive sitting in the package looking for a home as well - just cant decide on x370 or B450 (or wait a couple days and see which other combo deals come out)

So GTA 5, maxed out all settings @ 2560x1440 (no freesync or vsync active) with subject monitor was average 80-85 dipped to 79 fps a couple times would hit 120s when views weren't long distance - this was while driving around, getting in big cop car battles etc.  Was using less than 3gb of HBM vram on the GPU which I was kind of surprised.

    MadmanRB

Yeah that seems about right based on scores of GTAV on that kind of speed RAM I have seen.

I cannot account my own scores as i dont play GTAV so cant attest to any boost on my account.

But considering how CPU bound GTAV is there is a good chance it will boost with the fresh set of ram (just watch the BIOS settings)

Oh if you are curious about my userbenchmark:

Due note that my DDR4 3000 kit is read at ddr4 2666, due to windows bluescreens at higher speeds I had to tune it down even with XMP enabled.

You may face a similar issue but even so even at ddr4 2666 it made my system game faster than 2400 and this is some good speed ram to boot so if I decide to change my motherboard to say a x470 I will have the ability to unlock my ram and perhaps not have windows freak out on me

I promise I am not going to seek to blame anyone on anything - silicone, etc etc - I am happy to do this, as it was the start for a path forward to my next build :)  Im just sitting here having a real hard time convincing myself not to scratch the balance of this itch (motherboard and cpu) or wait a few more months for next Zen release lol.  All depends on what I see on sale and I like hahahahaha

This ram will end up homed in the PC my wife games on either way, freeing up the 2133mhz kit for my build (as I will likely have the upgraded CPU and mobo) - Ill take the slower stuff as I turn my graphic settings to what I need for each game depending on title (competitive gameplay) whereas she likes ALL THE PIXELS

  11. Tristerin

    Tristerin

Im a slots guy, so not as versed (becoming more-so) other than the obvious features on a mobo - any reason I shouldn't just snag this mobo up at the sale price?

I would look farther and see if i could score better.

A few games that depend on ram ( ArmA, GTA, etc)

  14. Tristerin

    Tristerin

@Juniiii I think I have the entire Arma III package on my Steam, I can log onto that on that PC and do them - Ive never played them (just bought them all on steam sale) - will this suffice?

When I get home tonight Ill drop my steam/origin/etc game lists

  15. Juniiii

    Juniiii

Everything will be fine, ArmA would be where you’d see a dramatic change between 2133mhz and 3200mhz.

Came home to a package...nope not it (extra radiator...cant complain, they forgot screws so I emailed them and they said they would send me the screws...sent me an extra radiator and screw pack lol), should be here tomorrow per tracking.  If I have time will complete the tests tomorrow

Still in a sorting facility...cause they mis-shipped the package...5 minutes from my house, then sent it back to right outside St. Louis...good job USPS! lol

I'd be interested to see a practical test on some newer titles if you have any handy (Maybe Rise or Shadow of the Tomb Raider, GTAV, one of the newer Assisin's Creeds, etc. if you have them.) But that's just to put nails in the casket.

No need to spend more money if you don't!

Also Cinebench would be highly appropriate, since the question is RAM to performance testing. Cinebench tests the CPU directly.

AE also benefits a lot from higher speeds but only paired with tight timings to increase the bandwidth

Heavy, aesthetically pleasing (I got a new camera recently, I suck, and I cant capture the chrome without a lot of what looks like vibration - camera noob here) this is the only shot I took that looked the best LOL.

Its the wifes birthday, I took her all over this morning/afternoon and shes doing her painting now, so I might be able to do this now IF it boots up without me needing to update BIOS (just thought of that) etc

Booting up that PC now will see what games are on it, will download a few more and run prior to putting the ram in

I heard BF5 was getting Battle Royal...I was using origin sub Ill probably just buy it (cause sub has now cost me more than the game) instead of re-subbing (thinking of AAA titles Im willing to buy cause Ill play)

I hear ya. I can't afford brand new titles right now. I am happily chunking away at the ones that came with my AMD products currently... Then I'm hoping for good sales!
