  1. I would say that if you want a better experience its time to upgrade. Only thing is depending on your current hardware you might run into a bottle neck. What CPU you got?
  2. either is fine, M.2 will just have slightly better speeds with a higher price tag.
  3. The colors look great and the 27inch 1440p is honestly massive in my standards. Im not an expert by any means since i mainly work with servers and hardware repairs, but i is really nice. If you watch the video everything Linus says is true in my opinion.
  4. Yes, you are looking more around 700-1000$ for a 4k with decent guts. 1440p 144hz is a great combo and has several options around 300-400$USD that are good quality
  5. The LG 27GL83A-B 27 is working great for me. Asus is another brand that will have some 1440p montiors running 144hz however they are far and few to come by causing their prices to increase. My suggestion be patient and a deal can happen on a site like newegg, or look into some of the other LG
  6. Its a matter of what you would use the monitor for. If you buy a 240hz monitor, but can only run 160hz in games its kind of a waste. If you are looking for a higher res monitor than 1080p i would recomend going for a 144hz monitor at 1440p or 4k.
  7. if you truly want snappy speeds an SSD is the way to go, prices are down and they are getting better storage per $ every year. However, a HDD is always great since they are large, reliable, and super cheap. If you are looking to keep your old videos in a "cold storage" state for long term HDD is better in my opinion. I run a 500gb NVME M.2 for my OS and most recent projects. Anything that i have not touched in over a week or two i store on a 2tb HDD. works great for me.
  8. The link you sent had the price at 460$ USD. However, if you are looking for a 1440p monitor that runs 144hz i have the LG 27GL83A-B 27 Inch Ultragear. Its a great monitor and right around your price point at 400$ with tax on amazon. Linus has done a review on the big brother model here. hope it helps
  9. the was smell a electronics burning smell or a burnt plastic smell? I agree with pibs that it is most likely dead, but there is a chance that an arc burned some of the PCB and the chips are fine. I wouldnt risk your system however. Try warranty.
  10. I just recently purchased the LG 27GL83A-B 27 Inch Ultragear and honestly, im loving it. The 1440p is a huge upgrade from the 1080, and I can run 144hz properly. The only issue i have having is every time i play a YouTube video full screen or go into a game my screen turns black for about 3 seconds. I am inclined to think this has something to do with the HDR setting, since every time it happens a HDR symbol is in the upper right hand corner. I do have HDR enabled for games and videos and am wondering if there is a setting I can change to fix the annoying black outs.
  11. I am looking to purchase a Dell XPS laptop for college. I am trying to decided between a Dell XPS 13 InfinityEdge Display (4K Touch/8th Gen i5-8250U Quad-Core Processor/8GB (DDR3)/Intel UHD 620/256GB/Win 10 Home) and a Dell XPS 15 (Non-Touch/8th Gen i7-8750H Quad-Core Processor/8GB(DDR4)/NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti with 4GB GDDR5/256GB/Win 10). I know my fair share on computers, since i will be majoring in computer engineering, so I'm looking for more of a suggestion based on experience from a college student, rather than a hardware vs hardware response. Yes, i plan to play some games on it, but nothing more intensive than DBD or CSGO. Does anyone have a suggestion on which model would be better. Also, with the pricing I would receive the models would cost the same amount, 1400 usd. note: I plan yo use an external 1080p monitor in my dorm room along with a TV, so the touch screen would be used mostly out of the dorm.
