This is currently how the cooler is installed, i searched up the fans you mentioned, would i be able to fit them here?

Your cooler looks like it is a 120mm(single fan) AIO. An i7 8700k need a more cooling.

    240mm and 280mm have 2 fans.

Here is what a 240mm looks like. https://www.newegg.com/corsair-icue-h100i-rgb-pro-xt-liquid-cooling-system/p/N82E16835181190

It would either have to go at the top of the case or in the front of the case.

This is what I use on my i7 8700k. https://www.newegg.com/be-quiet-dark-rock-pro-4-bk022/p/13C-001F-00027?Description=be quite dark rock pro 4&cm_re=be_quite dark rock pro 4-_-9SIA68V6YA3005-_-Product&quicklink=true

  2. What tires my eyes is fussy text and small text.

I stared at screens all day working and played games at night for years and there are monitors that I have ditched because of eye strain. The most recent ones have all been VA panels and I would not buy a VA panel now unless it was 4k. I stay away from monitors that at not RGB as well.

I also use large monitors and 4k TVs because they allow my eyes to move around like they would if I was not looking at a screen.  My eyes are not focused in one place for any length of time so less strain.

  3. I use a ASUS Maximums Hero XII and it does fine.

I run stock with the Intel power limit removed so 4.9ghz all the time. This beats my 6 and 8 core CPUs that are overclocked to 5.1ghz in games that don't use many cores.

With a 360mm AIO I am always below 70c even using 230 watts.

With a 5.3ghz overclock the CPU is stable(it has never crashed) but will throttle in some benches. At 5.3ghz it uses just over 330 watts. I may try a push-pull setup in the future but for now I am happy with the performance I am getting.

Oh, I have a Thermaltake View 71...so I'm not too concerned with space. I just need to figure out how I will arrange it as I do already have another 240 radiator for the CPU in it. I can put it at the top with the other radiator since there space to hold 480 radiator in it or I can put it on the back right in between the motherboard and the front fans

Thanks for the info. The View 71 may be my next case.

  5. My Son started playing the game with a 2080 ti using RT and DLSS and he had lots of glitches.  He had to go out of town so he used a rig with a GTX 1080 ti to play and he told me the game runs better without RT and DLSS. So I think you are right.

I want to play the game at 4k with RT and I was in the low 60s with the overclock on my 2080 ti but the game crashed every couple of minutes. Without the overclock it has not crashed but I am in the high 40s, low 50s. I am shelving the game until it gets fixed. It will be the last time I preorder anything.

  6. I don't consider at match a big issue. With the pricing of things now leapfrogging upgrades makes sense.

I think the issue will be putting it in your case. The 20 series used 120mm radiators so they were not that had to fit. The 30 series use a 240mm radiators.

My case already has a 360mm AIO on the top for the CPU. Putting it in front may restricted air to the parts that are not water cooled.

That is what is stopping me hitting the autonotify button on one.

  7. With me it depends on the game.

I played Metro Exodus at 1440p 120hz because it felt better than 4k 60hz.

With Horizon Zero Dawn I played it at 4k 60 since it did not feel better at 1440p 120hz.

CPU choice has a lot to do with how a game feels as well. All my games are migrating from my i7 8086k computer to my i9 10900k computer become they run smoother. They both use FTW3 Ultra 2080 tis so it is not the GPU.

I have a 1440p 144hz LG monitor with a G sync module. With my hardware and the games I like to play I was usually in the low 130s so my choice of using 4k 120hz TVs to play I think was a good one.

I managed to get a few Xbox's for retail so I kept one for myself, and gave the others to family members. As a PC user, I was really excited to finally have a console that can push out higher than 60fps. However, I clearly didn't do enough research, because I open the damn thing just to find out that I can't even go past 55hz. I knew that the PS5/Series X had HDMI 2.1, but I just assumed that there was either an extra display port in the IO, or some backwards compatibility with 2.1. So yes, I'm really dumb for just assuming that I could run 120fps on my 144hz 2K monitor, but why is nobody talking about this? This is absurd, why couldn't Sony and Microsoft just add a display port? I've watched plenty of reviews on these consoles, and I can't recall anyone explaining that you literally HAVE TO have HDMI 2.1 to go higher than 60hz. So basically, you have to spend $1000 just to get a TV with HDMI 2.1? And apparently monitors with HDMI 2.1 haven't even been released yet. Unless am I just missing something, and there's a way around this?

I bought a LG 49" Nano 85 for $500. It has HDMI 2.1 and VRR so you can get something cheaper than $1000.

  9. I am now using using Digital Foundry's settings and the game is playable now at 4k. Frame rate is in the 50s so not ideal but it rarely drops in the 40s.

One of your issues is the resolution. With a 3080 you are CPU bound at 2560x1080 and would probably do the same frames at 3440 X 1440.

There is also a problem right now with the game and Ryzen CPUs. It seems to use every other thread. This needs to be fixed by D Projekt RED.

I think there is a work around. You should look it up.

  10. I build my own but I stopped building for others long ago.

One of the reasons is because I became the warranty. If I refused to be the warranty all I got was negative press.

Also people have stopped talking to me because I recommended certain specs to do the job. They went with less and blamed me when the computer could not do the job. Refusing to build for not following my advice was almost as bad.

For a long time I built 3D capable computers for companies as well but that got old to so I started using the IT company they used to build the PC so any issue that came up the IT company dealt with it. For this I got really nice presents on holidays from them.

I still do charity builds but I get no complaints on them.

  11. Does your monitor go vertical?

All the 2 monitor setups in my house have the second monitor setup that way to save space.

    I won't even buy a 16:9 monitor that can't do it.

My LG 32" VA 4k monitor has a USUS 28" 4k TN monitor.

    My LG 38" 3840 X 1600 IPS monitor has a ASUS 27" 1440p TN monitor.

My point was that Ray Tracing wasn't really stable in Cyberpunk.

I did not get any crashes after I removed my GPU overclock but since I stopped playing the game I may have not gotten to a point that it crashes a lot.

I also am aiming for 1440p gaming, I'm going to order a 1440p 144hz IPS panel in the coming week. I never got a 10 series card due to stupid price, I got really screwed by miners jacking the prices up, and the 20 series was just too expensive for my tastes. I could afford one, but I didn't want to pay that much... And now that AMD has the 60 series, that's my plan.

I bought a 1440p 144hz monitor in 2018. It has a G sync module so it is nice for gaming.

All my GTX 1080 tis and 2080 tis were bought with my 3D business budget so the price did not matter to me since they fit in the budget.

For a professional workflow, I don't disagree that the 30 series is a huge boon. If I was doing 3D rendering, I would probably go for a RT Quadro card. But I'm not doing any kind of 3D work, the only rendering I'm doing is video, and a 30 series would be a waste, at least compared to a 60 series.

For the type of 3D I did Quadro cards were not needed. The RTs Quadro start at $4000 and my yearly budget was only a bit more than that.  I did use old 4000 cards for AutoCAD since they have better AA than gaming cards but I bought them used since there was not much chance of them being abused.

I use the free version of Davinci Resolve so I only do CPU video rendering and my i9 10900k is fast enough for me.

    • Yeah that's my conclusion also.
    • This will be a consideration if and when 'proper' quantum dot or OLED drops in price.

I think taking a pass on the OLDs is a good idea.

I have two LG OLED TVs. The one I use for gaming and movies is fine but the one I use as a monitor already has burn in and it only took just over a year. It did not slowly appear. One day it was not there and the next it was. It was not a bright logo that caused it but the line below the bookmarks in Chrome.  I had Chrome in dark mode so I though I was safe but I was not.

The burn in is light and not noticeable in movies and games but it can't be unseen.

I bought an LG - 49" NanoCell 85 on Cyber Monday for $500 to replace the 55" LG OLED as a monitor.  It is ISP and 120hz 4k so it should be well suited to be used as a monitor. They have great reviews as gaming TVs but not so great for movies but I still have the OLEDs for that.

The OLED with burn in will be replaced by a 8k TV next black Friday. For some silly reason I want to play my old modded Skyrim in 8k.

As was pointed out by Linus and Jay on recent videos, RT is still early in the development cycle. It's not exactly fleshed out, the performance is mediocre at best with it on, and it requires a crutch to run it at higher resolutions.

yes, it's an improvement in lighting, but that's all it is, unfortunately. I'd rather get a 4K 120hz panel and be able to play it at 120FPS than have to run it at 40-50FPS.

I also want an improvement in visuals, which is why I'm getting a brand new graphics card, and replacing the GTX 980 I've currently got. I would love to play Minecraft with ray tracing on, but I don't want to sacrifice FPS gaming's framerates, and as Cyberpunk's launch has demonstrated, ray tracing is not exactly great right now (there's been some reports of crashing while running RT, but the game runs okay with it off). Plus, what happened with HU was really inexcusable, but that's not really an issue for me, since I was planning on going with a 6800XT anyway. For me, though, the big question was if I went with a Quadro card, or a Radeon Pro card for my rendering machine, and I'm pretty sure I'm going Radeon Pro now.

Linus and Jay also said 4k is pointless for gaming but I am seeing more and more 4k coverage. Times change.

I bought a GTX 980 in 2015 and replaced it with a GTX 980 ti in the same year just to get 60fps in Skyrim at 1440p with ENB. The same year I bought a 4k monitor that I saw in a LTT video and it took a RTX 2080 ti bought in 2018 to get all frames over 60 at 4k in the game. My goal now is 8k 60fps with my old modded Skyrim game.

I am used to big frame rate drops that make a game look better.

Cyberpunk 2077 does not like GPU overclocks just like the game Control. So I can do over 60fps at 1440p with raytracing but the game crashes after a while with my GPU overclock. Without the overclock it does not crash(so far) at all but no more 60fps. I don't expect this to get fixed.

Like Control I don't like the look of the game without raytracing so I am shelving it for now. I will revisit it when I get a 3090.

I did 3D for a living(retired in 2018) and RTX would be a game changer to me since it took minutes to render a raytraced proof of a scene and it now takes a few seconds with a RTX card like the 3090. I am getting 3090s just in case I have to start working again.

Since all my PC hardware has been paid for by my 3D work, being an early adopter has not been that hard for me.  I can understand why others don't want to be early adopters and are happy to wait like you have.

  15. I watch every Hardware Unboxed video and if I want any information about RTX(raytracing) or DLSS it is the last place I would go to. They don't realty cover it any more because their patron members voted overwhelmingly for rasterization coverage. They have their bubble and Nvidia has theirs. They don't really overlap that much.

All the major players get bad reviews on some of their products from Youtubers. This is not about that. All the 30 series reviews were positive with the exception of the 3090 but that card got the same treatment with just about every reviewer. This is about coverage of the key features Nvidia is pushing right now and Hardware Unboxed don't do much coverage on them.

The last Hardware Unboxed video was about Cyberpunk 2077 with DLSS and raytracing. In my view it should be enough coverage to make Nvidia happy.

    We shall see.

Ah okay.  So in my situation, which would you recommend then?  The big tv or the 32" 4k monitor?  So just avoid any 4k  monitor then that is 27 or 28 then right?

I can only recommend what I would buy and in monitors it is 32" at 4k.

For TVs you only get modern features like true 120hz, VRR and HDMI 2.1 in 49" and up.  I would not buy a TV without these features so I can't recommend any.

May i ask why you hate that monitor?  Is it because its too small for 4k?

I use programs that don't scale like Heaven benchmark so I have trouble seeing the text. This is not an issue with my 32" 4k monitor.

My solution is to set the desk top to 1440p but that defeats the purpose of using a 4k monitor with a test bench.

I bought it in 2015 and stopped using it by 2017 when I got a 32" 4k monitor. I keep it as a spare so it is usually sitting on a shelf.

What GPU are u using? And all on ultra settings? Cause ure also sitting on 72FPS on a not crowded area.

I use a 2080 ti with the shadow settings on medium and the rest on high. DLSS is on quality and RT on except shadows. Frames are lower in the city but CPU usage is only a little higher. It is a bit of a roller costar With CPU usage as low as 19% and as high as 55%. I is probably higher in other parts but this is as far as I am going for now.

The game is not really playable for me so I will wait for bug fixes. I am also left handed and none of the usual left handed key bindings work. If they are not fixed I will never play it.
