  1. May you please refere sources on this matter? TYVM for alerting here this issue. I was gonna sugest a friend of mine who's a lawyer, to spend more money on potentially an unecessary product.
  2. I think you realized that the context and "Chill time" means a gamer stops gaming and "chills". But does it really mean that IG max + GPU idle to be a bad saving scheme? Does GPU go to idle when user uses PC just to "chill"? 8W when browsing or 25W when intensive video is a good low power goal, 'cause IG max TDP + GPU idle can go over that 25W mark. Pardon my ignorance, but: - Is there any Windows Software that'll change Computer Energy Settings + Monitor Refresh Rate .... ALL from the click of 1 button? @Slick Thanks for reminding me to look for Gamer Nexus, since I tried multiple times to force me to follow them, but it's too dry and long to watch. But will do... Electrical bill was mentioned. Solar panels or anything else didn't. And non-free-electricity costs money... and been costing more and more. "Large case with amazing airflow, so your fans barely have to move" is a great reminder / tip 'cause I hate fan hum. Thanks! The only aesthetics I care about on a computer case that will NEVER go on top of the table is having a ROUND button for power, so NO sharp edge get the F button stuck and get's me wasting time going for a wild-goose chase. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!! This is a really great point. Laptop hardware and software that manages it does this! But does or can you make it that efficient on "Gaming" Desktop hardware similar as suggested? I had an horrible experience with one of the 1st Intel CPU + IG laptop with dedicated GPU card, when old games couldn't "find" the dedicated graphics card and Support only suggested me to ... not play those games. I've done a bit of search and found that people are pretty pleased with IG+GPU these days. Is it that simple? @AndreiArgeanureports support your opinion, since he's dedicated GPU performs for the most part better than: RTX 3050 + IG = 15W + 15W = 30W RTX 3060 + IG = 8W + 15W = 23W RTX 4070Ti + IG = 12W + 15W = 27W But does the Dedicated GPU stop working? How much wattage does a Dedicated GPU really spends on "chill" mode? You're right... on desktop using a GPU + IG CPU is not like in a laptop, and IG output doesn't go out through GPU ports... so I feel so dumb for not thinking that, and the waste of time mine and some that haven't thought of it. But, since this thread is open ... can this thread survive with the following? Is there any MUX switch that connects the iGPU and dGPU for desktop? Is it that a KVM the solution for this? KVM's for FHD@144Hz? What a can of worms for a probably nothing burger!
  3. PREMISSE Suppose PC#1 is assembled with an Intel Core i5-13400 (with Intel UHD 730 ) and a nVIDIA Geforce RTX 3060 dedicated GPU. Suppose PC#2 is assembled with an Intel Core i5-13600K (with Intel UHD 770 ) and a nVIDIA Geforce RTX 4070Ti dedicated GPU. Suppose that that both PCs are used in a single monitor setup (Horizontal FHD@144Hz). Suppose that that both PCs are used in a dual monitor setup (Vertical 2K@75Hz + Horizontal FHD@144Hz). CONTEXT Now imagine that for 4 hours the user just chills ... stops gaming ... and uses any of those PCs for browsing NON-graphic-intensive websites such as this Forum, watches a few Streams on Twitch or videos on YouTube, and uses apps like Discord, WhatsApp, Spotify, Microsoft Teams, Excel.... all open at once. FACTS & STATS I've searched and found that for instance when using a 1 monitor setup: the nVIDIA 3050 has an Idle Power Consumption (IPC) of 15 W reaching a max TGP of 130 W. the nVIDIA 3060 has an Idle Power Consumption (IPC) of 8 W reaching a max TGP of 170 W. the nVIDIA 4070Ti has an Idle Power Consumption (IPC) of 12 W reaching a max TGP of 285 W. the Intel UHD 730 has an Idle Power Consumption (IPC) of ??? W reaching a max TGP of 15 W. the Intel UHD 730 has an Idle Power Consumption (IPC) of ??? W reaching a max TGP of 15 W. QUESTION Does the Integrated Graphics help save electricity? ... or making the question from another other end ... Is it worth it buying an Intel CPU with IG that'll cost €30 more and save on the electrical bill? COMMENTARY I'm quite sure that this question hasn't been answered yet, and I've DIG for a lot of hours, using different perspectives and questions... For the most part, all I realized is that Tech Reviewers are no different from some Enthusiast Car Reviewers. "Uauuu, the Bugatti Veyron reaches 431.072 Km/h and accelerates from 0-100 Km/h in 3.1 seconds" - yes, it's really impressive, but even more impressive is that it takes to break from 100 Km/h to dead stop in under 2 seconds. I think that the perspective of Saving Money and Resources ('cause like the George Carlin said -- the planet is fine; the people are F****d) has not been well explored. I mean, in case the Dedicated GPU fails having an Integrated Graphics helps the consumer not to rush buying trash, aka Cheap New Graphics Cards, allowing the computer to be usefull in some way until a good solution can be attained to game again in all RayTracing (or not) glory. And AMD back is adding Integrated Graphics into their CPUs, with Zen4 platform. I'd love to throw into the mix Intel Performance+Efficent Cores VS AMD chiplets for saving power to the consumer that uses the bawler consumer that sometimes chills for some hours to take a rest from Tarkov's cheaters, or is waiting for his mates from another Timezone to come to Team Fortress 2 Lazy Town server, or Rust server, but that's a whole other subject for another time, and another section. I'm sure the findings will be quite revealing... helping future consumers choosing or not buying CPU's that'll help them save money ... or saving money when buying a new CPU. Also, CAN I HAS AN LTT VIDEO / LABS ON THIS? Prrrrruuuuuease! Thanks in advance for any constructive reply, José Encarnação "Take care of yourself, and take care of somebody else." - George Carlin, Jammin' in New York, 1992 </>
  4. Thank you very much. And Wireshark has a *.paf.exe -- PortableApps version That's perfect for having on the USB stick I've carrying around for decades (and I'm not exagerating). Again, thank you!
  5. I understand your doubt. But one thing I always do on a fresh Windows install is go on Settings and into Control Panel to minutely configure everything, including disabling Windows Update / Advanced options / Delivery Optimization / Allow downloads from other PCs. Aftwards running Chris Titus Tech and n1snt scripts to debloat and decrapify the OS. Because Microsoft makes things dubious, I also go on that screen to Advanced Options and limit the snot out of that. Actually I never remembered after months of using an installation to check the stats, if it continues at 0. Since I re-installed W11, I can't now verify if that was it. At the time, on Task Manager I consulted Processes ordering the Network column and then Details ordering by I/O reads or CPU column to try to figure which app was doing Uploads. I couldn't. Hence this post...
  6. Yesterday I was watching streaming media, and all of the sudden, the stream kept stopping. When I opened on W11 Pro (version 22000.co_release.210604-1628 -- without a specific Firewall installed other than running the Windows one, and without VPN or any other network app) the Task Manager // Performance // Ethernet there was a lot of S (sent) traffic occouring. I immediately Disabled the Ethernet device and tried to figure out what was happening. When I got to Resource Monitor // Network I didn't find any odd app running or TCP connections established, even after I Enabled the Ethernet device. IDK wut the F was going on, but I'm somewhat protected ATM, on a new W11 install. My request is: - Which is the best Open Source Network Tool to monitor and log inbound and outbound traffic in general ways, but also, to be able to understand 1 by 1 which app does what? Thanks in advance.
  7. Hi hi hi hi hi. After waiting 39 days to get an iPad Pro 12.9" 256GB/5G I'm getting it next friday. Been looking in this forum for tips and suggestions on Accessories and Software to buy/install since I'm a 0-day Apple products user, and everything is scattered all over the place. If power-users wouldn't mind, let's make this topic be the One on all iPad Pro tips. My main goal with this new device is going mobile and yet being able to play PubG Mobile, Vector Drawing, 3D rendering for 3D printing projects, Offline mindmapping and blogging, Augmented Reality stuff (learning; noob level) and Software automation (RIPing contents, monitoring websites, website management). But if you know cool stuff, like hacks to make it do stuff Apple didn't want it to, please share. Thanks a bunch
  8. Channel Super Fun is almost at 1 Million subscribers. Let's get that plaque for the best channel on YouTube... For it, I suggest you phone-record Linus getting triggered by LMG Staff at Language Mistakes like Jake did on purpose and by mistake in the recent livestream "I ACTUALLY Need to Buy Some Stuff - Black Friday Shopping Stream". Probably everyone at LMG has at one point triggered Linus with some mistake and will remember what it was, since he's a Language Purist. Guys, please do this... it'll probably take weeks to get everyone to get to trigger him, but it'll be worthwhile. Just don't do it all in one day otherwise he'll stop caring for a while. I can see one person getting called into his office for sending an e-mail full of common grammar mistakes. And the finalle being everyone in in the company chat system agreeing to the same mistake, like typing: LEGOS! Fk yeah! And please, place at a corner the name of the prankster. Cheers. p.s: Get Luke involved
  9. Guys... please save me!! I don't pay a subscription to YouTube and I can't stand anymore Woojer Edge ads. It's so hype that as always (for me) seems too good to be true. How could a chest-vibrator (and a vest with more vibrators on the back) can make you feel sound that any better if your nervous endings that drive sound signals to be processed in your brain are probably all or pretty almost all in your head? More "snake-oil" slews out of that ad when Unbox Therapy (0.1/10 honest YouTubers) makes a bid deal on a video (can't call it a review) that that brand edited into the ad. We need a serious and an impartial reviewer that doesn't Lie and doesn't take any sponsor... Linus! Please think about it.
  10. Oskucity, it was done 1268 days ago. I'm just sorry it wasn't a Channel Super Fun video; the best Channel on YouTube. RIP Nicky V lol If you are an LTT fan, or wannabie, I suggest you watch older videos, mainly the old WAN Shows and the first Live shows. It's worth the time..
  11. Linus Tech Tips VS Puget System Linus, Anthony, Jake and Luke are the Linus Tech Tips (LTT) gurus. They, I guess, are the main staff that pick parts to make the computers needed for their applications. I suggest a video with Puget System (PS), but this time, as contest. Both "teams" have 2 weeks to research components to match the builds based on "customers" like be Taran (for editing) and Shroud (for gaming/streaming). Monitors (multiple for each) must also match the needs along with peripherals mentioned to be essential, like Mice, Webcams, etc.. Inviting Taran and other Power Users, maybe other YouTubers and Gamers to judge LTT made and PS made computers to determine a winner, showing along the benchmarks of each build. An Directors-cut 1 hour long video could be made available on Floatplane! " This video is Sponsored by LG, ASUS, Elgato and Logitech... and LTTstore.com "
  12. Clearly you are new to LTT. You don't know Linus and Luke that well, I think. Both are determined beyond your average Joe. Although Linus cheats all the time, in this case if someone would give up, it would be Luke. And Luke doesn't give up either. But hey, it's their lives.... I'm just here for the fun.
  13. What other OS is there to Switch too? Mac OS? I agree that Linux and MacOS should not be 1 sub-forum all together. And if Linux and MacOS were a sub-forum on their own, a "Switch to" pinned topic could be created in other to facilitate posts related to that being easily found. If my idea doesn't go through, I'm on board with this one as a Plan B.
  14. I value your opinion and thank your for sparing your thoughts. Having started on Amiga computers, and on PC becoming a poweruser, I never transitioned to Linux. Lack of drivers and not having the time to research how to perform "surgery" instead of just opening a file, selecting some options and be done with it, led me to never took the time to give Linux a try. That being said, if you try to break down and compartmentalize the Ice water Bucket Challenge, and dissociate the Charity component, you get... a Challenge, where people that do do it, nominate others to do it. That was my train of thought. Sorry if I offended you, but I tend to use broke-down analogies in life to get thoughts through. Anyway, for the longest time I've been following Linus and LTT, I'm fairly certain that this "challenge" Luke and Linus are taking, is going to ripple into Power Users, and in time, onto Noob Users. My suggestion aimed at bringing more Influencers to this HypeTrain because I'm sure many will take it, and more after those, etc.. Obviously, if the some-what-like-the-ice-cold-water-bucket-challenge nomination bit doesn't happen, my prediction will fail and many Tech Content Creators won't even bother to spare a thought on trying it, and Linus and Luke will just have made 5 videos for the Dollars. The PC OS paradigm, in my opinion, needed a boost a long time ago, right about the time Linux was released for Android Devices... but no major supporters got the word out. And a world where Microsoft Windows is not the default, is a more Secure and Efficient one, being much more accessible to everyone, specially those in exploited countries by the big companies such as Asian and African ones... making available the same tools as "developed" countries use to work in the XXI century. Anyway, sorry for the rant, but I think I had to explain better my point of view, mainly because you stated that this sub-forum, WHICH IS NOT dedicated to Linux was sufficient. In my hometown "Linux, macOS and Everything Not-Windows" is just like a trashcan where you dump everything that is not recycled (again, this is an analogy, where I just want to give the idea that other contents are selected, and everything in here is just dumped all together cause it's NOT worth the time segmenting). Thanks a bunch for your opinion, and take care.
  15. ... may you please, in this Forum create a SUPER Category on par to the main ones, so the Community will be able to segment different issues such as UI, Accessibility, Productivity, tools Drives (graphics card, etc.). I'm not suggesting turning this whole forum into a Linux support forum, but it could be home to the "movement" that will finally get Linux to be the standard OS worldwide (in despite the many distros). I hope you bother to help focus on this "movement" that even they (Linus and Luke) probably aren't aware they've started. REMEMBER the Ice Cold Water Bucket Challenge?? Make it so... Nominate other YouTubers into challenging them to switch to Linux for 3 months and report on it. Start with iJustine LOL jk The Hub The Workbench Computer Hardware Software Linux movement (or LieNux; from Linus nickname Lie-Nus) Video Games Consumer Electronics Community
  16. Gold Steam Deck Hey @LinusTech make a sponsored video with Valve where you get an early Steam deck (final production unit), make a GOLD version of it to offer Gabe Newell, and in return, Valve offers LTT 500 Steam Decks (or maybe just 100) for a give-away, that will last 1 whole week before the Official Launch and World Wide... YOU get a 100 Million Views video on YouTube and Valve get's a lot of Hype from the Mouth-to-mouth publicity!!
  17. Using YouTube Twitter post to expose this!!
  18. I was at @Enderprize Twitch Live stream and asked if Star Citizen is 8K ready!? I really think it would benefit if played on a huge screen at 8K. He doubts anyone can assemble hardware capable of playing SC @ 8K Highest Quality at decent Frame Rate at the moment. Do you guys in LTT accept the challenge?
  19. LTT video series suggestion: When major Smartphone lauch season (Apple, Samsung, etc) comes, make 1 or 2 or even 3 video series, staring all the LTT staff possible, talking about what smartphone they Use and Why, Which features and Why are they Expecting to get in a future phone and When are they thinking on purchasing. Make the last video with Linus or Linus and 1 or 2 other people reviewing (Jake or Anthony, and Yvonne, like in Secret Shopper, each providing a different point of view) commenting on those videos, gifting and Award for the Worst and Best smartphone (dbrand unique skins, like a gentle LOSER skin and a diamon-like-glitter skin for the winner), and to the person with the best explanation of their expectations and needs as gifting a Brand New dbrand skinned smartphone but will all the features they need and MORE. Or a colab with other YouTubers from Android and iPhone ponds to review with Linus. None of the staff should be aware of the awards, and the video should be shot with more than 1 camera, to show a top-down use of the smartphone of the person being interviewed. ALSO: Full interviews from this series should be Floatplane special content, for as little or as long as they become. Yeahhh... I rarelly use Floatplane from my OG Sub, because there's little exclusive content; I mainly want to support your work. I BET over 9000 Internets that if you publish extended videos, specially with bloopers and full interviews on FP, more fans will go there! Lastly, I get mad that Floatplane has no Pre-Talk before WAN Show starts, and After-Talk after WAN Show ends, like in Twitch. I love that, and I bet most people do as well. Make that a Floatplane exclusive on the end-saved file as well. (pardon my engrish) P.S.: More Taran videos please, specially in Channel Super Fun. A channel with so much potential to make money, that it's absurd it was declared dead so many times!!
  20. Hi there. Been reading a fair amount of posts in this thread, and yet I'm very overwhelmed. IF any generous soul can help me with an Y or N answer, I would be very grateful... I listen to music in quality FLACs and CDs (yeah, have tons of those), whilst commuting on a Samsung S9 (don't buy) and at home on my PC (with a ASUS ROG Strix B550 F Gaming with Dual OP Amplifiers). I've ordered the Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro. 5 - 35.000 Hz is a pretty nice spectrum. And I know that below 20 Hz bass frequencies can be felt more so than heard. Although I dislike excessive bass, I enjoy the feeling of bass in general. Will an external amp help me to enjoy these headphones full potential, mainly at home? will it introduce latency ruining my gaming experience the motherboard's headphone output enough The thing is, for this question of mine on Reddit I've read mixed comments on should you or shouldn't you get an external Amp... Thanks a bunch if anyone takes the time to comment to this probably unnecessary questions.
  21. Hello everyone, Recently PIA updated it's Windows Desktop Client. In the v2.10.0 Release (2021/07/22) ChangeLog one can read: Connection stats can be sent to PIA on an opt-in basis to help improve our service Inquiring using Live Chat, answers were provided by "Edwin C": - Uncheck "Help Improve PIA" check box if you don't want to provide stats, or if did already but was turned on due to update... More info is provided in the link underneath "Find out more". This post is pretty basic, but if you come across the same doubt as me, well... here you are. Take care, and take care of somebody else. 22. Also, from DIYPerks, maybe this could be an inspiration for trying out a new kind of efficient solution: Building the world's first 'breathing' PC 2021-06-30
  23. And ... also you might want to try acquiring inspiration from Project Farms videos on YouTube, mainly this projects: Which Furnace Filter Brand is Best? Let's find out! 2021-02-14 Which Car Air Filter is Best? Let's find out! Fram, K&N, Wix, Purolator, & AC Delco showdown 2020-03-09 Shop-Vac and other videos might interest you in further projects, but there are plenty of videos on dust-removal, etc. :)
