  1. I got up this morning and, after four days of folding across 5 machines, I've got 109,000 points. I thought that was cool, then I saw some people get twice that in a single WU. Oh well, every little bit helps.
  2. According to my donor stats, I've done 50 WUs, but when I click on that number and it generates the certificate, it says I've done 1500 WUs. Ideas?
  3. What are the potential security concerns from FAH? A buddy of mine is worried about things like botnets.
  4. i5 5300U 8gb RAM HD display I love Thinkpads. Been using them nearly exclusively for over a decade now as my go-to laptops.
  5. Just got my 5th FAH machine going! I've got: HB Pavilion Slimline (circa 2014? Beats me) Lenovo T430 Lenovo T450 Lenovo X1 Carbon (2nd gen) Dell Latitude 5500 Good thing electricity is included in my rent!
  6. I'm not all that great with command line stuff. I use Mint as my daily driver, but that's because it's pretty easy to use.
  7. I actually had Mint 19 on it, but I couldn't get the FAH client to run, so I tried Windows 10, since that's what my other machines are running for FAH (so far without issue)
  8. Well, the T500 currently can't even get through the Windows 10 installation process and it gets really hot. I think it's only got 4gb of ram right now. I should see if I have any more sticks lying around. Curiously, I have an old HP Pavilion that's now folding and while it's working the i5 nonstop, the Radeon HD 6450 hasn't been used ever by foldingathome.
  9. Tried to get an 11 year old ThinkPad folding, but the old girl couldn't handle the Windows 10 installation. I'll try tomorrow with Linux Mint.
  10. Is there any way to ensure that your computer is folding for a particular project number?
  11. Just dug an old HP Pavilion out of the closet and got it folding on full power for the LTT Folding Team. It ain't much, but it's honest work.
  12. Don't I usually recommend Fuji and you usually recommend Canon?
  13. If you're looking for new, I'd probably go with a Canon SL2 and then put any left over money into getting some decent lenses. The SL3 doesn't offer much over the SL2, so you can probably get the SL2 at a good price.
  14. Despite Ikea being closed, I recommend getting two trestles ( these are what I use: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/finnvard-trestle-with-shelf-white-80150095/ and then placing your desktop on top. I particularly like this setup because you can adjust the height of the trestles and therefore your desktop, it's easy to take apart and move, relatively inexpensive, and you can put whatever type of desktop you want on it. I have a cheap ikea desktop, but if you want something nice, it gives you options.
  15. It really depends on the circumstances. Knowingly exposing someone to an STD isn't a crime in many places, but I could see intentionally spreading COVID-19 as being a crime in some places. Inconsistencies like that drive me nuts.
  16. A mate of mine has a computer that randomly turns itself on. It's the weirdest thing.
  17. I turn off and unplug my computer. I've had some experiences with power surges that have fried electronics, so all my expensive stuff is unplugged at night.
  18. For your consideration: https://www.dpreview.com/articles/4687361201/which-is-best-for-you-the-fujifilm-x-t200-or-x-t30
  19. Timely video is timely. (DPReview comparison of Canon M50, Sony A6100, Fuji X-T200)
  20. EVFs these days are pretty good. I prefer them over OFVs as you can see your exposure in-viewfinder. If you're on the fence, try going to into a camera shop and having a bit of hands-on time with them?
