  1. So would it not be reasonable to assume that the drive would still be a bottleneck on 2.5?
  2. Gotcha, I chose to run raid 10 because I use the system in 3 ways mainly. First, backup of computers at home, crazy I know. Second, camera access/recording for security. Third, permit access to temporary users for file transfers when working on projects like large documents/videos and such. Not sure I'll ever need more space since everything is only saved for a certain time and re-written, speed and recovery are the main factors. Thanks for the input @Electronics Wizardy @Needfuldoer Not sure if I mis-typed does this make more sense?
  3. Hey all, super easy question I'm sure... I see lots of people go and upgrade to 2.5/5/10 gb nics to sap out faster transfers of data from their NAS. One thing I'm never seeing is the drives they are utilizing to make this worth the effort/cost. I have 4 of these: (https://www.newegg.com/seagate-ironwolf-st3000vn007-3tb/p/N82E16822179006) Now the drives claim speed up to 250 MB/s and on a crystaldiskmark test I reach about half of that. So I figure that's about 1/4GB speed on a 1gb connection... So I don't think I'd see any increase in speed/bandwith from upgrading this. Am I completely missing something? Thanks.
  4. I believe I went through the correct steps to enable smb on the MAC; including allowing the correct user/profiles and renaming the workgroup. I believe.
  5. long story short; Trying to find the fastest way to get files between my MAC and PC; the PC is my daily driver but I work with FCP for editing on the MAC. I've gotten the MAC to recognize the PC and I can move files from MAC to PC over network I am able to run WIN+R and access the MAC now but \\192.168.xxx.xxx and using the MAC's login credentials. Short term work around is I did map the network drive for access, so I can move files to the MAC from the PC. My question is WHY can't I get the MAC to show up under the network ? Also I included a CrystaldiskMark test showing transfer from PC to MAC followed by my m.2/usb drive in case anyone was curious. (my previous method of transfer) While slower the benefits are being able to save to the MAC destination over the network upon file creation/download. No need to access rear i/o of the MAC to transfer data in; this was difficult due to mounting location behind monitor.
  6. I don't think I've seen this posted; sorry if I missed it. I would be really interested in one of the Ch's doing a video on frequent or recent sponsors of videos; specifically where the sponsors aren't exclusively sending in products for review. I understand that it may boil down to MONEY at some point but there is clearly thought behind what products you are willing to give your rubber brand approval stamp to. So the video might list say, 5-10 sponsors from 2021 or the most frequent sponsors and why you guys chose them less the funding. Knowing why you think they are useful/quality/worthy products or services would be great to hear.
  7. I should have checked intel's website; lesson learned.
  8. MSI z690 pro-a DDR4 (no later bios available) gskill trident 4x8 4000mhz (https://www.gskill.com/product/165/166/1562741474/F4-4000C18D-16GTZRB) i9-12900k stock clocks 3080ti evga ftw windows 10home x64 --------------------------- When xmp is enabled 2x8 no issues (4000mhz) xmp enabled in 4x8 games such as farcry 6(easily replicated; have done clean reinstall) crash after a few minutes of gameplay xmp off 4x8 (2133mhz) no issues I have labeled and swapped around ram in all possible combinations with xmp enabled both in 2x8 and 4x8; no failure in 2x8; always crash in 4x8 I do have a request ticket with MSI awaiting their reply. Thoughts?
  9. So I used disk management to clear a 1tb and 500gb samsung ssd. I installed them into another computer and they do not show in the bios or the diskmanagement utility. I put them back in the same spot in the original pc and still nothing. The do not show in samsung magician, device manager or any of the disk software solutions I've found through searching the web (such as partition magic, EaseUs) I've swapped drives around to different SATA cables, Ports, and Power connectors. I can feel the SSDs are powered. 860 EVO SATA 2.5" SSD 1TB Model Number: MZ-76E1T0B/AM SSD 850 EVO 2.5" SATA III 500GB Model Number: MZ-75E500B/AM Thoughts?
  10. I was having issues with my 9900k and ended up returning it; I stepped back into my z270/7700k which I delid'd and run at 5.1 - That being said, I see ZERO performance issues with all the games I play, and the FPS difference has no effect on playability or anything. I upgraded because I like to own the new stuff, until the new stuff sucks. Holding out on the 12900k to get the ddr5 .
  11. https://www.switch-bot.com/collections/store/products/switchbot-bot there's like 10 different versions of this tech available.
  12. In regards to intel 11th gen. I do have the option to get my money back and I still have a 7700k/z270 board at home that works just fine. I could go back to that platform and wait it out I have seen the 11th gen has diminishing performance to the 10th, is this true? As for 12th gen I haven't found much info but maybe I should wait. I am not limited to the store, they have agreed to let me do a full refund if need be. Honestly it doesn't matter if it is, they're allowing me to replace both because of the trouble I've had with their customer support.
  13. Budget (including currency): no Country: usa Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: high end gaming, possible video editing, multi-monitor with several programs at once Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): So long story short I have been having ongoing issues with my pc 9900k/z390 maximus xi board which is ultimately led to where I am now. I have been given authorization from my retailed to complete an exchange/return on both components. That having been said here are my options. New 9900k and cash back to buy a replacement z390 elsewhere (they are out of stock) which would entail also, what board should I get: this "high end" board has been problematic Exchange both for store credit and go to AMD platform (unsure how I feel about this since 9900k is such a great performer) Exchange both and upgrade to the 10th gen and z490 boards which I know nothing about since this upgrade was only done in June. Really looking for educated opinions here, I don't mind spending money for performance and quality! I deff. don't want to buy a "top tier" board that has VRM or Memory controller issues again. Thanks for the help!
  14. OK, so what would you recommend I do with the board I was under the impression this was a top of the line board I didn't expect issues. The cpu I could rma to Intel or Microcenter can handle it.
  15. Could you please speak to me like a 4 year old. What would you recommend I do to figure out if it's cpu or ram concerns? The last time I had all 4 in without xmp enabled I was able to run several games and reinstall cod (which is 200gb) without nay slowdown. That game played multi-player fine but crashed during warzone after about 6-10 minutes in game. I got above average scores in r15 and r20 TM5 passed. Also about 1.2 would imply some trial and error no? What would you do to be sure you were changing the right thing for the right concern? I believe I have 2nyear warranty on both he mobo and cpu still active from Microcenter the ram should be under limited lifetime warranty. I'm currently back to the memtest86 with all 4 sticks xmp still off.
  16. So quick update. Checked the voltages and timing in the bios everything looked to be where I was told it should. I began testing all of the ram individually after the TM5 extreme settings showed jo failures during the 4.5hr testing. For my mobo it rec slot a2 for single ch so that's where I started. The first 4 tests represent the sticks I had numbered 1-4 subsequent testing is in pairs. #1 spd pc4-25600 ddr4 xmp 3200mhz 16-18-18-38 Gskill intl f4-3200c Test start 17:39 test end 20:11 No errors Memtest86 freezes after several "bench marks" read write tests. #2 spd pc4-25600 ddr4 xmp 3200mhz 16-18-18-38 Gskill intl f4-3200c Test start 20:20 test end 22:52 No errors #3 spd pc4-25600 ddr4 xmp 3200mhz 16-18-18-38 Gskill intl f4-3200c Test start 22:58 test end 1:26 No errors Memtest86 freezes after several "bench marks" read write tests. #4 spd pc4-25600 ddr4 xmp 3200mhz 16-18-18-38 Gskill intl f4-3200c Test start 1:32 test end 3:59 No errors Test #5 Stick 4 a2 stick 2 b2 Time start 4:17 time end 7:24 No errors Memtest86 freezes after several "bench marks" read write tests Test #6 Stick 1 a2 stick 3 b2 Time start 7:32 So far not feeling very confident I have a ram issue any longer.
  17. A good portion of this is spanglish to me so I'll have to do some research and reviewing before I can get any kind of good data back to you. I haven't had issues with temps before but will keep it in sight. I'll work thru the recommendations. Thank you.
  18. Hey thanks! It's gskill 3200mhz that was running in xmp enabled . Not sure what you mean memtest at defaults? Do you mean at xmp off ? I didn't preconfig a custom test for memtest I just ran it. I will do another one overnight on this without xmp enabled. I suppose its possible that I now have 1 or multiple RAM sticks that aren't stable at their (naitve?) 3200mhz which is a bummer and I assume hard to narrow down.
  19. Replying to myself again, update reinstalling aprx 200gb file size (cod mw) on to ssd E MEMTEST86 results show failures, unsure of what Disabled XMP and ram now running at 2133 download is not being throttled at what previously looked like an ssd issue. i feel stupid.

  21. OK so I have an update... Lots of failures found here. Not sure how to interpret it just yet. Also I think I've some how managed to end up in 2 posts about the same issue and I apologize so if a mod /admin could link or merge? Idk. Sorry.
