  1. Hence the issue. I tell it to spin the fan at 2500rpm, it spins the fan at 0rpm.
  2. @LinusTech I wonder if this sort of thing could be made into a video, or wan show topic. It's driving me insane and I'm sure there are plenty of other cases across the industry of companies locking out functionality only to break the functionally they decided to expose. Also I apologise for the ping I'm honestly not sure where else to make these sorts of suggestions.
  3. Yep, it just sucks and there is nothing you can do... I just double checked and yeah you can't even set a fan curve from bios if you wanted to. As you can see the bios is setup to literally auto-install the software for you.... ugh it's just awful to deal with on a multi-thousand dollar laptop.
  4. It just has no interface, you can load into it and see the time, pick the boot order but nothing else. It's the most stripped down interface I've ever seen on a bios tbh. I'll boot into it after responding here and take a picture for ya. Everything is supposed to be controlled though "armoury crate", and that is the interface you use to do everything from fan/power profiles, to bios/firmware updates. It honestly sucks though, and the third party tool "G-helper" does a much better job. This issue exists on both but less so on the third party one for some models. Basically your bios control is all through software on these laptops. The software does everything correctly, but when the bios is submitted a custom fan curve (from software) it bugs out on applying it and will 90% of the time just zero out the gpu fan.
  5. You cant, its a bios bug... That's the whole bug *you cant* set custom fan curves at all. If you try the gpu fan turns off and you just sit at 100c on the gpu until you realize. This laptop doesnt really have a bios menu for clairity so everything is through software.
  6. This is actually an awful bug, if you try and set a custom fan curve on an ASUS laptop if will just be zero RPM... Now this may not seem too bad at first, just use one of the quieter presets, except the laptop's power draw is also dependent on the mode. So if you are planning on playing games, you have to choose between not being able to hear your thoughts, or not having the performance you otherwise could. This bug has existed for years across multiple sku's from what I can see, mainly the zephyrus line which is what I use currently. I'll link some complaints below over the years but how is no one else speaking about this. Is this something that could make a wan show it’s kinda ridiculous? https://github.com/seerge/g-helper/issues/1612#issuecomment-1876943224 https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/rog-zephyrus-series/rog-zephyrus-g15-ga503rs-ga503rs-fan-manual-mod-problem-only-cpu/td-p/973870 If anyone knows anyone of influence that could make some more noise about this I would appriciate suggestions. For a machine this expensive this shouldnt be an issue, especially for this long.
  7. I would like to have a icecc setup I can vpn into. It seems that with normal openvpn configs the clients can talk to the scheduler, but the scheduler cant connect to the clients. It seems to try connecting to the device running the openvpn server, not the one behind it. How could I make my openvpn clients appear almost as physical devices on the network, with unique IP's that local devices can connect to; or if that is unnecessary how could I solve this?
  8. idk what the hell is wrong with the jetbrains mono font but changing it to source pro looks really good thx!
  9. Alrighty, so the fonts in clion running on arch are messed up.... I changed its runtime too the jetbrains jdk instead of openjdk and that fixed everything exept the terminal font, how do I stop it from going monospace mode?
  10. Alrighty ill give it a read through, if it is easier that would be cool cause xlib seems kinda massive / complicated...
  11. Alrighty, thanks for the docs and im definatly gonna go poke around at one to see the implementation.
  12. Alrighty so ill make this quick, cause im probably just being an idiot and cant find it. Does X11 have any C++ documentation / Learning material? If it does ill go read that, and if not could you point me in the general direction for learning how it all works/how to do the stuff below. If I can figure these out I should have a good enough understanding to do pretty much whatever I need to do so if general documentation dosent pan out hopefully someone knows something specific... - Simulating a keypress - Simulating mouse movement - Reading Keyboard input - Selecting the window to read and write to based off its name, the currently active window, and just plain globaly.
  13. nvm i had originally done it right and i just had to delete the old build files for it to take
  14. I am rather new to the world of c++ and wanted to try making a super super basic speggeti code sprite based game cause why not, but I just switched off windows and now I gotta setup cmake.... How would one set it up for a situation like this. mainDir |_ Engine | | _ engine.cpp | | _ engine.hpp |_ Game | _ Main.cpp | _ Main.hpp Just for example, gonna be a few more files than that but same general file structure
  15. I figured it was a leak or something at first but after we cleaned it out it just kinda worked for the rest of that summer and the next with zero issue, now we are in the third summer from that point and im just really confused thinking back because wouldent dirty coils only lower the efficiency and with it the chance of freezing over? idk it was a while back maybe they replaced something and ive just forgotton...
